I can understand the logic behind your discussion, even though my budget is much lower. My long-barreled Remington 700 .270, paired with my older Nikon BDC scope, has proven itself time and again over the years. The Hornady team truly exemplifies how it’s possible to push the limits of advanced technology and development while still making it accessible to everyone.

Good info Hornady! Really interesting seeing training and hunting barrels discussed as well as multi-chambering. For my do all hunting rifles I chose to head down the Blaser R8 Success (timber model) path which I can with very little effort change from 22LR to 375H&H in under 2 minutes in camp. For calibers I chose 22-250, 6.5x55SE, 30-06 and 9.3x62, with all barrels having sighted Zeiss Victory optics and an Aimpoint H2. With two attaché cases this will travel very easily and reassemble without a change of impact, to the point I do not even check it anymore. Shooting the one stock and trigger across all calibers has changed the way I look at rifles.

Love this idea I am a hunter, not a competition shooter, and I got a lot out of this Just an idea you might want to look at the hatch outwest bipod, I love mine, and I think it might eleminate the second bipod you have to carry
I would like to see an episode on the Handgun Hunter ammo and the Companion Carbine. Can I use the same ammo on both? Or do I need both handgun hunter and leverevolution? If so, why? If not, why?
That’s funny cause I run the same stock and have a setup with a CF barrel with a .300 prc and the same stock setup with a 6mm creedmoor with a steely. My prc looks almost identical
Love the new concept and will definitely be watching for new episodes! Having said that, using a rifle scope as a spotter is like hunters ed day one ‘do NOT do this’ type activity.
If you’re looking to suppress the hunting rifle it makes sense to go 20” or so. If you not going to suppress it then 26” or even longer might be better. Personally I went with a light varmint contour and 22” in 7mm PRC. And I think that’s about ideal with a suppressor with a hunting rifle.
I like cool stuff as much as the next guy, and... if this becomes an ongoing series, I hope you're going to show setups that a large % of Americans hunters can actually afford.
guys i`m sorry to have to say this but your ammo SUCKS. i tried the precision hunter and the superformance out of my tikka t3X in 308 and my howa 300 win mag and both cant even get to 1 moa. with sako ammo both are well unter 1 moa.
I've only read the headline for this post and have looked at the rifle on the table. I see three things about this rifle that would cause me to not use it to hunt with it unless I were hunting out of a vehicle. No open sights, the bipod, the adjustable cheek piece. The adjustable cheek piece adds weight I don't want to carry. The bipod adds weight I don't want to carry and after 56 years of legal hunting I've never needed one. There is always a rest and I always find one. Last, no open sights is a cost saving ploy by firearms manufactures which causes the consumer the necessity of buying an additional optic which in most cases will cost nearly as much as the firearm. It's a cheap out by the manufacturer. Just those things cause me to avoid further viewing of the post.
It's not the 1800s. Iron sights are just going to get in the way of mounting a scope. Bipods are easily removable and useful for many situations. And if weight is your concern, the adjustable cheek piece doesn't matter. You should look up how light that stock is. You did make a great point by showing everyone why fudds are a detriment to development and why we should ignore your input.
The GWOT somehow transformed hunting rifles into sniper rifles. Long barrels and target style stocks make for a nice shooting rifle but sucks to carry. The Mauser 98 and its children (M70 & M77) are a much better action for a hunting rifle than the 700 platform
I'll agree on the long barrels. But these new stocks offer a lot of upgrades for equal weight or less in some instances. As for the actions, I only have experience on rem700 and gas guns so I can't make an argument there.
I hunt with both the Model 70 pre 64 and post and also with Model 700 and Ruger 77 and I like them all ! I will say my Remington’s are Varmint rifles/Deer Antelope rifles verse Model 70 just Big Game
@@clintivy623 I totally understand wanting the most ergonomic stock possible, I have a tikka in a McMillan a3 and it’s great for supported positions but sucks to carry when stalking or shooting offhand. There’s nothing wrong With a 700 action I just find a control round feed action to be more durable and reliable. A three position safety is almost a must, I hate a bolt that isn’t locked closed.

How do yall feel and what is your experience with a 22in barrel vs 24 inch barrel on a 7mm PRC? Looking to build one soon.
