Good cover man. . . . This is one of the great songs of that amazing decade called the 80s. . . What an era that was. . . I'm so blessed to have lived through it.
This is why events unnerve me They find it all, a different story Notice whom for wheels are turning Turn again and turn towards this time All she asks the strength to hold me Then again the same old story Word will travel, oh so quickly Travel first and lean towards this time Oh, I'll break them all, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it's got to be this time Watching her, these things she said The times she cried Too frail to wake this time Oh, I'll break them down, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it's got to be this time Avenues all lined with trees Picture me and then you start watching Watching forever Forever, watching love grow Forever, letting me know Forever
I just learned the history behind the song and now am gobbling up every version I can find. With just an acoustic guitar, you do it beautiful justice. Bravo
@@jamesmccarthy6764 it was written by Ian Curtis right before he died, and was the foundation left for his bandmates to create New Order and eventually become a massive group.
Thanks man! I don’t use tabs, but I just try to recreate the parts I’m hearing. A sort of impressionist approach I guess. I’m sure the original is played totally differently, ha ; /
Thanks! This is what I do: For the chorus, on the top two strings are Open E to G on third fret pinky Open B to C on second fret pointer Then, ring finger and middle finger are making shape of F chord and C chord on lower strings. Does that help??
It’s all just F and C! Unbelievable that two chords could be so powerful. I’m just playing the same chords on different parts of the fretboard and changing up the picking to change with the different parts of the song.
Glad you liked it. Not sure I have the bandwidth for a comprehensive tutorial, but if you have specific questions or need specific tips, let me know and I can make a quick demo for you. Good luck!
The chords couldn’t be more simple: F and C. They just made it sound awesome by adding some dissonance, syncopated rhythms, cool riffs, and dynamics changes. Such a brilliant song, no?
Never would’ve thought this song could work solo acoustic, but you did it.
That’s so nice. Thanks!
This is an excellent cover. Draws lots of stuff out of this great song that, in 45 or so years, I have never heard.
That’s super kind - thanks so much.
