Having to format your Mac to clean it, is absolutely crazy. There are several software options to view your files in a more organized way and delete them as you please. CleanMyMac X has the space lens option which is pretty great
I need help with something, whenever I remove stuff, for example an app or two, it would remove say around 12 gb, I go to the storage area, and it shows that the 12 gb available is lowering, and its all going to the other section, now 70 gb is already in the others section which the total amount on my computer is 120gb, so more than half.
I had to show all drives to see something that looked like partitions maybe? I'm not really sure but after I erased the folder containing my HD, that's when it cleared up the "Other Storage". After that, no problems! Thank you for the helpful video!
Last time I looked this up was a year ago and NO ONE helped me. Due to covid and 181gb+ of "other" storage on a 200gb drive nearly resulted in me dropping out of my course entirely. My com.apple.os in on my Macintosh HD. Do I still
proceed with your process?
will this delete Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro that I have on my Macbook
Last time I looked this up was a year ago and NO ONE helped me. Due to covid and 181gb+ of "other" storage on a 200gb drive nearly resulted in me dropping out of my course entirely. Thank you, I still have work to do before I do this but at least now I know this is the only way. Oh the days I've wasted nearly failing my course trying all these other things that did nothing. Thank you so much.
SORRY BUT PLZ ANSWER THIS! is it always take a long time to reinstall macOs? because I’ve been waiting for more than 1 hour and it says about more than 7 hours remaining.
Also any way we can prevent this storage from building up?
I got stuck in 8:03 it doesnt work and jumps straight into the login page where u choose between guest user and ur own profile can someone help
Thank you so so much!! After a year of trying to factory reset it this method is the only one that has worked!!
Will it delete my Final Cut Pro? Or will I be able to download that again since I’ve already purchased it?
Thank you for the video. My System Data is at 1.06 TB and takes up about half of my hard drive. You mentioned that I should copy all of my files. Besides the Applications and Documents folders, which other folders do I need to copy? Also, how do you reload these copied folders? Where do you copy them to?
Life saver, I had 80gb worth of other storage this tutorial helped me thanks !!
On behalf of all content creators around the world, we thank you!!!
does this delete all of your other files as well?
i think you are a life saver!!!! thank you... i havent been to update my mac in 2 years!

Seriously this is the only “clear space on your Mac” video instruction that has ever really worked! Thank you!!!! Seriously! God bless you!
Thank you, thank you!! This was a lifesaver! I just followed your instructions and was able to remove over 400GB of Other Storage!
im here to do the same, i got 340 gb in others
I can’t find any disk when it says “select the disk where you want to install macOS”, maybe you could help?
Samee did you figure it out?
How do I do it on a Desktop Mac OS Monterrey?
Looks great! Scary! Do I have to save all my passwords and such for log-ins online and whatnot BEFORE the reset? Or is that stuff saved virtually? Just want to know how much to back up (or if this information backs up) before doing this. I hope I make sense - thanks!
I formatted my Mac and got rid of Other storage, but after sometime it came back. Any solutions?
hi Daniel! if I deleted the "other" storage the same way you explained, will it erase all my documents and apps?
Dude i can’t tell u how happy i am rn i just got my macbook pro new and the storage was already full i was sooo mad and was so confused why man this helped me sooo much
Amazing! I have been searching for a solution for so long! Can not express how appreciative I am!
I have office on my mac ( word, powerpoint…) how can i get them back if i factory reset the mac? Should i have to pay again?
Wait so does every apps downloads and everything delete as well or just the “ other storage”
This was a great tutorial only now I can't reinstall ios. So that's fun
When you tried this, it didn’t let you reinstall iOS back onto your laptop??
How did you solve this? Bc I’m having the same problem
So am I 😅 did any of u manage to solve this ?
Same problem....anyone find a solution?
It rebooted itself and connected itself to the wifi and reinstalled it
Thank you this worked perfectly and I didn’t even have any other Storage when I finished
I can't even thank you enough! My father in law gave me his Mac (250gb) so I erase and reformat it. He had 225gb of those fucking grey files, I couldn't even reformat to Big Sur, bc it needed 1.25gb extra.
The whole time he was standing right next to me staring at my soul, so thanks for your vid! I owe you one!
I am completely stuck in this process. I first deleted data and then reinstalled macos. Now after reinstalling its still not starting and is again and again reinstalling. I am completely stuck now sitting from 2 hours(as every time it restores it takes time) only to see it restoring one time.
Kindly suggest me what to do ?
This is probably a stupid question but when backing up my files to I need to save the apps etc. too?
Thank you for your tutorial, it's very clear to me. This is what I need to clean up the others storage on my mac.
Hi, won't I lose all my apps? Thanks
Thanks! But somehow, I keep have the Others file filling up itself, after some time....why?? This is making me crazy!
yes, what's that genius move from apple????
For anyone doing this on a MacBook m1, You have to hold the Touch ID for a long time until the options tab comes and click on it to open recovery.
Also I don’t recommend it as on m1 you can’t set it up without an other pc or Mac
other storage: 250 gb
This helped me SO much!
hopefully this works cause my mac suddendly says system data is 179gb and my mac is only 250gb and there is no space in the drive now. Also keeps saying disk full but there isn't anything on the disk after disconnecting icloud. nothing's working
Great video, although I accidentally deleted the Mac HD drive as it didn’t empty entirely. Now laptop flashes with a file and a question mark inside with a link to Apple support. Any idea how to fix? Or just contact Apple?
Same here
What did you end up doing?
If it does “couldn’t create a prebiotic volume for APFS install “ what should I do?
Hi, can i ask what did you do about this?
Thank you, Daniel! I have tried every other way to remove my other storage. This is the only way that works.
