A drive on US-23 in Eastern Kentucky

Another wet, dreary winter drive in Eastern Kentucky from Pikeville to the Virginia State Line while on my way back to South Carolina from a weekend trip to visit family in West Virginia. Highlights include, the Pikeville Cut-Through, the future alignment of US-460 & KY-80 and Pound Gap. Filmed on January 22, 2023 utilizing an Akaso Brave 7 LE.

@@earlpeaks-sn7mb Just before she died my grandma was moved to a house on old 23 right at the top of the gap, I think there was a bar right across the street. Jenkins was dry so they used to come to Pound for drinking it was a pretty rough place. My grandfather used to moonshine in the 20’s and 30’s in the holler, but he didn’t live very long

@@michaelwhiteoldtimer7648 the bar you are preferring to was called the poverty house. It was turned into a 7-11 in the early 80's. But it was torn down mid 90's because of a fire

I wouldn't think it necessary. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet does a good job in keeping the main roads plowed.
