      Highways are necessary in America due to my countries huge size and how spread out most suburbs are from areas where people work. The only reason you hear people saying it's a bad thing for cities is because they believe gas powered cars are evil but instead of admitting that they claim the system doesn't work which is a huge lie. Also those who live in gated communities don't spend all their time their. Fuel is cheap in America and roads are very good. That is until climate change alarmist started having our highways bulldozed and our policies that allowed for cheap fuel to be destroyed all based on science that has to lean toward one way of thinking or will not get funded.

    • @Drakkart
      @Drakkart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Bland-79 Science is singular and they all agree on the topic except those funded by fossil fuel corps. Urban sprawl is the least desireable urban development ask a civil engineer why, the reasons are plenty.

    • @SirNyanPanda
      @SirNyanPanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Bland-79 Country's size is completely irrelevant in this conversation. There are large nations with public transport. Suburban development is also non-argument, because it is a part of the car-centered infrastructure. No highways = no suburbia and vice versa.
      The roads in USA are shit from what i've seen on videos. Partially because there are so many roads to maintain.

    One thing I think makes a huge difference in making a place feel alive is having a character who is just... a person. Someone who's a completely normal person who has no relevance to anything helps a lot when it comes to figuring out what normal people do in the place.

    Ok. As a career firefighter I HAVE to comment on the burned house. It was funny watching you create this and I have to say you did an outstanding job of truly making it look like a destroyed structure haha. I was very impressed with what the end result was. Even taking the time to change the color of the plants adjacent to the structure was impressive. Most people do not take that into account. Keep up the good work, really enjoying wasting time watching you work. Take care.

    Most gated communities in the US are “guard gated,” often with armed guards, which are supposed to reduce crime. They don’t actually reduce crime, but they do increase the values of the homes because of their psychological effect on the homeowners. Maybe you can put in a hidden police substation into the gate to reduce crime within the game, and therefore increase the value of the homes.

    There should be a massive marina just outside the downtown (part of which could be fenced off for another gated community) that is owned by Bob Bernstein. The marina started as a small set of fishing docks until Bob bought it and saw the potential for tourism, and developed it to its maximum potential in 1975. This was the largest tourism investment in the sentential state until the new amusement park in the northern half at the begining of the 80s.

    As someone that lives in a gated community, we do so because we work hard to have nice things. We don't want them stolen or damaged or our homes broken into. It is also nice to have private facilities that we can use like a gym, clubhouse or a pool that is maintained and secure. When you live somewhere where the government actively works to let criminals run free, having a gate is a little bit more protection.

    Oh boy, that plot regarding Michael is pretty interesting and now I'm waiting avidly for the next episode! I do think he might've gotten involved with shady people which is why they had to escape, likely to those new island suburbs that seem a little more isolated than their old house. That's just my guess.
    I do wonder how you would implement some sort of mob in the city though, I don't see much people try to show signs of a criminal organization in their cities, so the idea personally sounds very interesting.

    Turns out that Micheal was the upcoming CEO for the FAB Soda company because he came up with a way to make the company more money; a new factory, even bigger than the one before, a new way to produce their lovely buth sugary products. Yes, it was better but not pretty. However the company got the plans to cityhall. A few days later they heard it got denied. Corporate Mike was pissed. Big time. when he heared he got his Corvette straight to the mayors house, who lives in the gated community as well, and stormed in. A bad dissision. The mayor got Mike locked up for the night to let Micheal know who's boss. Mike got even more pissed. Months later the political fight between the mayor of Sunset City and Mike has become dirty: Backroom dialogue with opposite partys of the leading party, localized union strikes to put the mayor in bad daylight and even hired men intimidating the head of the city to have the new factory build. Mike was planning it all. He was so obsessed with the plans, he wanted to become the CEO of 'his' new FABfactory. The mayor got so pissed at Mike that he hired a few men to let Mike know not to screw with him. By putting his house on fire. Turns out you shouldn't mess with the mayor, ask Mike Burgency :)

    One character that should be in this series is a parody of Tony Montana in Scarface, a great film I'd recommend that inspired GTA: Vice City, called Jose "Joe" Florida. He is one of the most infamous mobsters in Sunset City and owns a mansion alongside the Florida coast. Having a crime ring makes the city more believable as Miami in the 1980s had a huge issue with crime at the time. I also found a documentary about the cocaine trade at the time called Cocaine Cowboys and while I haven't watched it and can't verify it's accuracy it's a sort of blind recommendation that could help with research for this series. Anyways, hope this comment helps out your series, I enjoy it very much.

    Mike always put alot of care into his job. So when Burger King was coming to town (they ripped off their name) he knew he couldn't stand by and let it happen, and his bosses agreed. So when Mike slipped some money the cartels way (courtesy of King Buns) to show Burger King they weren't "welcome in town" and "flame grilled" their new locations. But when his bosses backed out and didn't give him the money needed for the payments, the cartel decided to do the same thing to Mike they did to Burger King...

    You got to have a huge sports team that maybe one of the executives owns. I think that would be super cool. Love the series btw!

    Yeah, I also think that highways are bad. They should have not been built, we should have had dirt roads connecting different cities :V

    How about a new arrival (perhaps escaping the political troubles in Scylla Republic??) to Sunset who has picked up some work delivering Fab Soda around the city - but it’s not enough to make ends meet for their family. A chance encounter at one of the King Bun delivery spots leads to them carrying some extra cargo on their rounds for some extra cash
