    My goodness. This is one phenomenal speech. I had to give up dairy ten years ago as it was making me ill. Seven years ago I gave up meat because I didn’t want the animals to die for me, but I thought fish was only fish. Following Seaspiracy I gave up fish and I’m now vegan. I have to say that I worried terribly about my protein consumption but you’ve persuaded me that I really don’t need to worry about it.

It's literally essential.. What is not essential is any form of carbs.. If you don't eat protein (essential amino acids) or fat (essential fatty acids) you get really I'll and die.. Then it took almost another 40 years for that to merge into veganism. I've been vegan since 2011. I was only doing it ethical at first. Then I realized 6 years later that the overwhelming evidence supported eating whole plant foods as being the healthiest. This is what prompted me into being an advocate because it was then that I realized there was no reason for anyone to be eating animals. I needed to see this in my journey to recover from, well, dying.
    If I had not changed my diet, that's all I changed at first, I would not have been here.
    I was on high protein shakes (medical!!) and my body was eating itself, it was horrible and I was in so much pain, in my body as well as mentally.
    The 'we are omnivores' thing is what kept me struggling to find healthy food.
    Now I'm off processed foods, sugar, anything animals and if I stick to that, I can dance and be normal.
    If, on the other hand, I visit someone who doesn't have 'food' and on top of that, I eat candy... Pain, no more walking.
    I can start to detoxify all over again.
    Protein isn't an innocent thing, if not gotten directly from a plant.
    It kills!!

      Here's one of my main issues with veganism, and it's a 100% honest concern: pescatarians live longer and have lower incidence of disease than vegans do, and healthy omnivores live as long as vegans. Why is this, if animal foods have no value?

    Great video! I consider myself along with my husband a flexitarian, our children are a work in progress😫, especially our daughter. We still consume eggs and fish (three times a month), but our diet is mostly plant based. I dropped 60lbs in the last year. We also workout 5 days a week.

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome, it sounds like you're moving in the right direction. If move into eating 100% plant based whole foods I imagine you will feel and do even better. And at some point you won't want to eat any animal products. Most people I have interviewed say they wish they had done it sooner. Once you are 100% the idea of eating any animal products is repulsive. And the more you learn about nutrition the more you will find there is no need for eating animals or their secretions and that doing so is not only toxic but crowds out opportunities for more nutrient dense and antioxidant rich foods, which are always plant based :)
      Then you will come to realize that it's fairly easy to prepare before you go somewhere and not need to be a flexitarian. Maybe you'll bring snacks, maybe I'll eat before you go, or maybe you'll just go without eating because you can enjoy fasting from time to time since you normally eat such nutrient dense foods fasting becomes easy (if you need to or just want to) giving your body a nice metabolic break :)

      Well, maybe twice what you "need". I wouldn't think you would get twice what they get. When I compare amino acids using cronometer the problem seems more that they get too much, like 3 times as much, the nutrient distribution is grossly heavy on the protein side and that may be part of the reason for it's relationship with chronic diseases.
