Hey bearbrownies, I was thinking about picking up shortsword but due to the season 9 blunt damage nerfs, are there any changes to attributes and is it still worth playing this class? Also, is it worth it to buy a shortsword from the market using silver if I don’t have any rare weapon schematics? Thanks
@@yuliusjrt9917 yup, this build still works well. You can buy a SS off the market if you have silver. You should try to focus on slashing dmg/pen though.
I have mained ss since the game came out and played at the highest level of death matches 5v5. Everything you said was pretty spot on. One thing I'll add is the 1v1 combo should go as follows (in an ideal situation) Shield charge > thunder struck > normal attack > wait for enemy to roll away > shield throw as they roll > jumping attack followed by normal attacks. Apart from that really nice guide man, not alot of people know about the agility and strength split
Nice guide, very detailed. I'm always trying to improve my SS and I might try these attributes to test it, currently I have total 39 points strg and 80 on armour. I like to be very agressive and still come back and also be able to hold multiple heros, sometimes SS needs to be the "push guy", your enemies heros will turn attention to you while our teammates push. With Full strg 1v1 many classes you will die, half strg/armour it's the same against Pole and Db cuz Ulti, but with this I use, it's different not perfect of course, full armour you win basicaly everyone, yet you don't do much damage, and sometimes lacks of kills on games. Also in combos 1v1, I try always to aim for the side/back= crits (shield charge you can go around, and shield throw before you hit, go a little left or right then throw. After using thunderstruck i'll try press "w" 2 times in the direction of hero, right in the end of the skill, cuz it pushes the heros, so as they being pushed you move(preferencial to the his back) and then hit normal atacks. And finally point, fighting versus different classes your priorities as SS using skills will be different. For example against Pole /DB you need to use ironside right before their ulti. Nodachi is more like a side move to dodge. Ranged going "S" moves and they won't hit most of them, or use closed shield and then press w in direction of hero... Maul is like doing your combos, stun them as much and do as much "free normal hits"( cuz they are slow) then give space for them to miss and repeat. LS is the boring one cuz most of times i draw with them, they have the heal, we have ironside and fast hits... When i see a SS guide i always try to share my experience, it's nice to see other comments with detailed improvements.
I like it, played it a few games I picked ironside, thunderstruck and shield charge but wasn't sure what the fourth skill would be the best to use and searched for a guide, and it's a good one, but still, i may swap from time to time throw shield with other skill just to see how it pans out, really nice class! I played glaive and nodachi too.
The defensive stats are almost similar between 1000+ to 1150. When you get 1200 , fun begins. For attack minimum damage must be 1550+ with 1600+ armour penetration. My build is now 1200+- defence (almost all types) with 1666 damage and 1680+ armor penetration. Working on rising the defence stats to 1300.
I play all heavy armor class and IMHO I think shortsword is the easiest class to play among all the heavy armor classes, all skills are pretty straight forward. Btw, dont ironside and try to thunderstruck hussar charge head on. U will die miserably even with full armor or toughness. I know attributes and runes are all personal preference, but for shortsword i definitely wont invest any points in str or agility. Also, Okolnir rune on shortsword is the biggest game changer in the game especially during a prolonged fight or capping/defending a point, dont skip it. Just my 2 cents, mean no offense, peace
I've tried full armour shortsword but found it unfun as you do it at the expense of damage. The build i show in my video is more of a hybrid tank, hero killer. It really is down to preference how you play any class but i wanted to help players make an informed decision on how to play a class and how to analyse their stats over just running full armour or 50/50 str/armour.
hey man i just started the game with longsword, i like the class but didnt want to go as a support like it mean to be, is it possible to make it a DPS? like going full str?
One addition. Skill set depends on your weapon stats. Check market if your weapon has more slash.arm.penetration, then you should use more slashing damage focused skills. Or if more blunt armor penetration you can choose thunderstruck. But basically, to start a SS you are right.
I mostly always play a Full STR Spear or DB i like to try out new weapons and i bought a nice Shortsword and i understand the math behind your build but is this class playable as full str in your opinion?
The only change in Season 8 is that you take the rune which reduces unit damage and increases your damage when above 50% hp and decreases damage when below 50% damage.
since the game has included the stamina bar. ITS DEAD ALREADY. and also look at what the devs did to the long bow class.....this game is finished/ DEAD
@@joshuasmith5472 The day the devs destroyed the long bow class.....this game lost major population of players,,,,Hence its finished/ DEAD. Its so simple no body plays all classes of heros.....you want to mess up a character ...then face the consequences. example me and my group of 32 players have stopped playing already. And many others will too since if der friend liked the long bow now their friend says i cant play so he too leaves . I play what my friends play ....same thing occours everywhere. mark my words if the long bow not restored and the stamina bar shit dosent go away ...this game will be dead very very soon. I better play mount n blade bannerlord instead.

The only thing to change in Season 8 are the runes: Run Boar: Balance and Boar Desperation.

@@BearBrownies thanks a ton for the reply, just so I don’t get scammed, roughly how much silver should a decent ss cost on the market?

Awesome Guide, really love how you explains why you put certain attribute
Another great guide! Still waiting for the nodachi one x)
I was planning on making one but this guy in my house called Shogun made an announcement telling everyone it's a clown weapon. That discouraged me.
@@BearBrownies I believe if you spam enough he will eventually make a guide about the clown weapon.
tl dr dont play nodachi ;)

Best guide i have seen!
great guide!
@BearBrownies Hey dude, has anything changed for stat priority from then to now? Thanks
All my base armors are over 850 without any attribute points added. But obviously this is season 10
this season i've preferred full armour but full str is great too thanks to the damage runes.
@@BearBrownies oh really. I tried that but I felt like I was hitting them with a pool noodle
i like to play full armor ss, you can carry you're team by starting a push

Playable, yes. Optimal? No.
I recommend you just try it and see what works best for you.
is there any update to this? i cant find the runes your useing so idk if they removed them or if they are drops.

What is critical value i have 109 critical value
Glaive please!
Is it worth it to run high crit value?
I don't think so, but you're welcome to try whatever build takes your fancy!
Update?
Shortsword fuxx hard
Awesome guide! do Longsword :D
