The BEST Final Boss in Sonic History

- Final Bosses in Sonic Games have always been home to some of the best moments in the series, regardless of the game's reception as a whole. However, I think one boss in particular stands above them all...

8:50 Crazy how this is the SECOND time we've seen eggman use his google glass
Ain't no way they referenced 06 as well 💀
"Sans undertale, go into my eye"
@@mattdoesanimations SINCE WHEN.
"Eggman! I didn't know you had Google glass!" 🤚
A bit of fun fact: Ian Flynn in one of his Bumblekast episodes stated that Super Sonic 2's Internal Name was supposed to be Starfall Super Sonic(the one for the blue eyes only form), while the other form in that final attack scene was Super Sonic Cyber(the form when Super Sonic decides to go all out for the finishing blow).
That’s a much Better name than Super Sonic 2
I originally Called It Cyber Super Sonic
The way Sonic says, "Sorry Master King. Looks like I'm going all-out after all." Before going into a full-on, cyber-fleetway type transformation still brings chills down my spine! It is truly one of the best endings to a Sonic game with the best final boss's! The fact of Sonic's friends actually helping out and neutralizing the shield really makes them useful, something that lacked in the past games, especially Sonic Generations where they just... cheered the Sonic's on... Plus, the idea of two whole bosses teaming up into one was really implemented well, especially how The End's energy was responsible for the health of Supreme. I'm glad Sega actually listened to the fans (such as myself) and took their time to give us the final boss we wanted! Not some space-shooting final boss, but a memorable final boss with the coolest music, cutscenes, and ending- something that I will never forget!
When sonic is screaming when flying to the end is so amazing, roger craig smith really pulled that anime cutscene.
Peak Roger
So this means that Final Horizon is completely worth it? Do I need to play on hard mode again for the full final bossfight, like in the base game?
@@KLUCZESIA you don't need to play anything again, if you have a complete savefile the new story will be aviable right away.
@@flandechocolate9675 I know that, but what about getting the real final boss fight on Final Horizon?
Sonic Frontiers will, with out a doubt, be this generation's Sonic Adventure.
And this game will be remembered for years to come
It definitely was for me😁
Absolutely
for me the second ending proves to me that the developers at sonic team do care about the game
Fun fact the part where the End/Supreme make the big old ball, which reverts sonic back to base, is based on the dragon ball battle of the gods movie.
Literally GT
@@Milonoto nah he’s talking about the beerus fight in BOG where goku got pushed back by the supernova and knocked out to super saiyan before powering back up. The GT fight against Omega Sheron is similar but doesn’t fully fit like this one here
Still wrong fight
On a quick note, cylooping the end doesn't simply put him in the air. Sonic summons a ground that first elevates The end. Then, he summons a roof above the end. You can see that the end tries with its arms to resist not being crushed in the middle of both summoned platforms. But when Sonic snaps his fingers, the "super" ground and roof tighten to join each other, crushing the end in a horrible way.
It's those small details that not many notice, that gives so much depth to the sequence.
the way sonic eyes are spirals and the sharp teeth reminds me of super sonic from comics
Fleetway Sonic
@@HypErChArgED29
Indeed
We are escaping the Starfall Islands with this one 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Honestly, my one complaint (other than the game not telling you what to do during the boss) is that we didn't see more of Cyber Sonic, although I am thankful for what we have because those few seconds he had of screentime were absolutely insane
7:12 Additional note: if you cyloop Knight again after he is impaled by the multiple spears an bigger spear will come from above and impale knight into the ground
This game was at least A tier before the DLCs comes. But after the FINAL HORIZON update, it definitely worth it and deserves the hype it gets!
THE FINAL FIGHT AND "I'm Here REVISITED" WAS ABSOLUTELY PEAK FICTION!
I'm giving an S+ rating for this game + DLCs overall.
Very awesome video, Mr. Lag!
Cant wait to see what they do with a bigger budget 😁
And hope they don’t ditch this formula
@@best_mate456 I mean, they promised they won't, I hope they really mean it!
All bosses ranked:
5. Giganto
4. Supreme
3. Knight
2. Wyvern
1. The End
0. Master King Koco’s Trial☠️☠️
The master king trail after the patch is better. O would argue that now wyverns is better with that perfect parry
The thing I like now is how ring intensive the final boss is depending on how you play it and also how the normal Supreme doesn’t waste any time draining your rings for the final one. It’s probably not intended but the way how Supreme stayed the exact same probably shows how they wanted Supreme to be a simple build up to the final fight rather than actually being hard and taking time and rings before the final. Along with that, when you lose to the final boss you get sent right back to Supreme.
Look guys! He finally returned with the milk!
It’s been since 2009!
FATHER!!!
He was just lagging guys
Kellen’s vocals near the end 🥲always gets me
Who's Kellen
@@ninjaling5059 the fella singin' the songs bro
in addition he sings perfectly! he sand along with johnny (lead from crush 40) during the symphony and it was awesome! I was able to see them post show and he's a great dude too
Man, it took me around 30 hours to 100% new Ouranos Island. I spent most of time trying to complete all of new Cyber Space challenges. I actually haven't completed Koco Master King's Trial on hard difficulty yet.
I definitely like it too. I especially like the concept of both Starfall Super Sonic and Super Sonic Cyber. While Sonic himself seems tailor made to harness the power of the chaos emeralds, according to Master King, the cyber energy simply wasn’t meant for him, implying only the ancients had an affinity for that power, whether it be because of their unique bodies, who knows?
I just really like that it tracks throughout the entire game. Every time he freed his friends, he would both get more powerful, gaining new exclusive techniques each time, but also more corrupted. It’s a really cool concept that I believe is fully realized with the context of the new forms. Awesome.
It makes me wonder if Chaos could harness that power. A power meant for his species or something. Cyber Choas. That sounds cool
I'm not lying when I say that Sonic Frontiers pushed the idea of me going to college into my brain. The Final Horizon was the kicker as I'm on my way to do it. Sonic Frontiers is a very special game to me. I never felt this love for a game since Super Mario Galaxy. I'm Here - Revisted is my all time favorite song, and I wanna re-experience this game again with the new ending. Glad this game means something to you and it was a good video to watch mate
The Tians were just pure peak in every way.
1:39 with out context this is wild 😭😭💀💀💀
I got major Sonic X vibes when Sonic flew into the gun to finish off The End.
This final boss was my favorite moment in any video game ever made, nothing will ever top this for me
"And the towers we're very fun to climb"
Me: **Keeps Falling Off**
Dude I mean it when I say it, this is one of the best videos I’ve watched TO DATE. keep it up dude! ❤
In a few years I’m ngl anytime i see this boss I feel like I’m actually gonna cry
This boss is so cool and means so much to me
It’d take me way to long to properly express how much I loved Final Horizon, and the entirety of Frontiers in general.
I did the same thing with Final Horizon as I did with the base game, as in right after I beat it for the first time, I almost immediately went back and played it again.
I just love this game so much.
What’s better final horizon or base game in general to U?
@@best_mate456 Probably the base game. Again, I loved Final Horizon, but the base game to me just feels a little bit more consistent. I replayed the base game like 4 times even before any of the updates came out, just because how much fun it was.
While I loved playing as Amy, Knux, and Tails, only being to play as them on Ouranos is really my only big gripe with Final Horizon. Although I obviously prefer FH’s final boss compared to the base game.
@@bluephobiac1978 I’m more of a hardcore fan so I actually choose FH. If I had to be honest that one island has everything what I need to be satisfied.
@@best_mate456 Definitely won’t argue with you there. And in all honesty, Final Horizon only makes the base game better, by being a better finale.
@@best_mate456Same, I’ve had WAY more fun on this Single Island than the Entirety of Sonic Frontiers. The Gameplay of the Base Game was extremely Basic and Automated thankfully isn’t an issue in The Final Horizon.
What a Great Ending to a Great Sonic Game , give me goosebumps every time
That last part froze me the first time I played it.
Les go! Great vid lag!
bro this video is great lol! The comedy is on point
So based man
Oh, By the way, the Shooter Boss Fight against The End is only on Hard difficulty. Normal difficulty results in *3* button presses.
Finally... A grand slam!
The upload is realll, the editing is nice, did you do it yourself?
yep

@@MrLag525How Long Did Editing Take Lag?
Hey Mr lag new here in the channel and yeah I agree this final boss is peak
I'm a Mario fan if it wasn't obvious, but when this game released I decided to play it, which made it my first sonic game
and boy am I happy I made it my first sonic game, I'll always have an appreciation for this game even though it objectively has alot of problems
obviously the original ending was underwhelming, even I can admit to that (even tho [hot take] I don't think surpeme is terrible) but the final horizon's final boss was unironically an improvement
despite the amount of trail and error I had to go through, I had the time of my life with this game
This is just me but o probably would of like the true final boss more if it was more combat and less things that leave you clueless because it doesn’t tell you what to do, but aside from that it’s good
BANGER 🔥
Sonic is hanging on to the other side
i follow this guy on twitter no freaking way
Out of the ones i played there are two, the final boss in black knight for story reasons, and ome i forgot the name to for game olay reasons
Dawg if I knew how to sever that cord earlier I wouldn’t have hated this stupid fight so much
0:41 is an amazing transition😊
Banger
Glad you liked it!
I hope we can see other new forms for Sonic. Sega should definitely be taking that opportunity.
I won't lie for whatever reason as a casual sonic player whos played the 3ds sonic game with blaze and sonic i cant help but think of that duo boss battle although it probably wasnt amazing. Ive played only classic sonic cd, sonic unleashed (dont think i finished it though) and as i said the sonic DS game with sonic and blaze. I am not sure many remembers the sonic and blaze game though
Glad for the people who enjoyed the performance, but personally what I heard were the screams of a super hero in his late 20s or something like that
i personlly think final hazard fight is more epic but this is top 2 for sure its so good.
The final boss of the Final Horizon DLC is okay when you know what to do, but I personally wouldn't say it's the best final boss in the Sonic series personally speaking; there's a lot of beginners traps and flaws with the fight and I think it doesn't really fit thematically with Sonic Frontiers, no offense to anyone who likes the new form and boss fight but I don't think it's nearly as cool as Giganto, Wyvern and Knight I'm sorry but that's how I feel. I actually like the Ikaruga-styled final boss and ending of the base-game more because I feel it does something more interesting and you know exactly what to do without any beginners traps, it's a little out of left-field for a Super Sonic final boss I'll admit but it fits more thematically as the final boss and ending for Sonic Frontiers in my opinion.
Now, I don't think Supreme End is one of the worst final bosses in the series, he's fine and functional when you know what to do if kinda janky, but I think it's overhyped but that's just my opinion.
As far as my favorite final boss in the Sonic series, either Doomsday Zone from Sonic 3&K or Finalhazard from Sonic Adventure 2 for me, or Metal Overlord from the criminally underrated Sonic Heroes (one of my favorite moments from that game is when Eggman has a decoy of himself with a cartoony Eggman-head laughing at all the teams after they beat Egg Albatross, he actually does something like that in a tie-in comic for Sonic Frontiers which is a nice callback).
I can see how you like those final bosses, hyper sonic or live and learn are insane. What about dark gia
And yeah you opinion is very biased
@@best_mate456 I like the Wii/Ps2 version of Dark Gaia (you play Punch Out as the first phase, and I like the final Super Sonic phase, plus you can't fault the orchestral version of Bowling for Soup's Endless Possibility regardless of the version you play), I hate Dark Gaia HD (360/Ps3), my least favorite boss in the series, it lasts too long and it can be a little annoying with trial and error added to the mix, I can S rank Dark Gaia HD but I still don't like it.
@@TheMasterJay I am going to say this with my honesty
I Fully respect that opinion
Haha big purple moon funni
So this is what happens when a company actually listens. Why don’t you put that in your book Activision.
I genuinely can't understand the hate for this game at all
ngl nothings topping doomsday zone to me
Amazing video lag! we need to do a video together asap!
1:20 He kind of does though.😅😅😅😅😅😅
I don't feel like belong here anymore
Good news they patched the final horizon and fixed framerste of perfect Parry
Is it just me or does Mr. Lag sound like @bickuribox12 ? I'm not complaining, it's a good video
Yea I get that a lot lol, glad you enjoyed the video!
It’s too peak
4:10 definitely cool
Hey! Super Sonic 2 looks cool>:(
The ending almost broken you? Tbh, Idk the original ending was better. Was more emotional. Sage dying then being alive @ the end credits was hype for the next game.
This boss is also hype, but spending 2-3 hours to find out to RB the cord is silly. Idk who thought it was a good idea not to tell the player this, and only tell you on easy mode.
It should have been parry the spheres to break the link, DPS, link comes back, regains hp, repeat. I just beat the game on extreme 1~ hour ago, and you can just spam X RT A and then spam RT A 2x every 1 second and not even have to parry anything. It's just silly.
The one thing this boss didn't have compared to other bosses, is flow. You didn't HAVE to do anything but break the cord. Dark gaiai for example, you HAVE to break all 8 of the snakes powering the shield. If this boss was similar, where you had to DPS, slowly regained HP due to cord, and parry to make cord vulnerable + dps, would be better. It's just too short of a fight. More HP is needed.
I also personally don't like you can prevent the shield from being broken. It isn't even hard. It should be "hide behind the shield due to a giant blast supreme is doing". Supreme breaks the shield in 3 attacks, so you have to hurry. You have to hide behind the shield or you die as well, to put a use for the shield in the fight.
I also want to add that a lot of the game is broken in extreme mode as well (not my main issue, but an issue none less). The "drain you to 100 ring" part doesn't exist on extreme mode, despite you having rings. So you don't even see that. If you fail parry, you just die. You don't see the other QTE's. Would like if on extreme (and any difficulty) sonic lost X rings for failing things, not take 0 damage/die (easy-hard, nothing happens, but on extreme u just die).
So your the guy who ruined my life with lag?
(I know your not)
I'm going yo be honest man
I prefer the other ending and two the story is not that perfect unfortunately
It's a upgrade but it really needs to fix some things up
Like with Amy and Tails
Their attacks just don't work at all because they aren't even using the things they were given to even attack
Tails can just throw those ring bombs or simply smack the shit out of people with his tails
And Amy had her hammer
And they didn't even use it
That is a disappointment for me honestly
Of course the game ain't wll bad but it still has problems I have
3:33 How dare you insult Dark Gaia like that?
I wasn't insulting it?
@@MrLag525 I kind of meant it as a joke, but at the same time, Dark Gaia's scene goes 1000 times harder than anything in Frontiers. Unpopular opinion but I thought Frontiers, including the Titans, were lame.
@@vrokortac9457 fair enough, I disagree but I respect it
@@vrokortac9457 just to let you know you really are the only person who thinks about this from all sonic fans i seen

I just think it’s fun what can I say
At least you found enjoyment for me it along with whole update set bad things for the future
@@mishdornots yea it definitely ain’t for everyone, it’s a lot more fun on a replay though tbh
@@MrLag525 Maybe, (oh no this is a long one) the first time it didn't meet my expectations, I was kinda getting tired of the island and trial but I avoided watching the final boss because I wanted the full experience. It wasn't intuitive, the camera and trees were annoying, and the new animations felt more "cutscene" than anywhere else in the game. After beating it I looked up videos of other players to see how that looked, it still felt like something was missing...
Maybe now that I'd know what I'm doing, I'd have a better experience on replay, but I think every ounce of excitement I had in me was already spent by the time I had watched it on YT.
If you asked me, I'd say I had more fun with Final Zone, Doomsday Zone and Egg Viper than this... It just no longer felt like I was playing a _video game_
Nah this new boss is ass
It was too easy
