How to Clean a Driveway Like a Boss | Pressure Washing | Surface Cleaning

In this video I go over how to Pressure Wash a Driveway using Chemicals and a Surface Cleaner to Clean Concrete Driveways. A couple of things I forgot to mention were to try and use the least amount of high pressure hose possible so you don't reduce your flow from your power washer and that going side to side rather than up and down with the surface cleaner will reduce the visibility of any line overlaps that are left visible in the driveway.

Ray, the part about 4" per 1 gallon per minute for your machine is a myth, I run two 28" Big Guys on a 8 gpm machine all the time with no issue at all, yes we go just a little bit slower but in my opinion it cleans better. But I do run 100ft of 1/2" line per hose reel with 200ft of 3/8" hose after the 1/2". That way we can reach out 300ft per side of the trailer and get it done! Great information you are putting out, keep it up!

The builder got oil on the driveway while working on the property, I told her I would do the walk way free of charge and she asked me specifically not to do any thing other than the driveway. She was upset that they had to come out of pocket over a small oil stain. It's hard for me to morally not do what the person paying me for the job asks. It did get my ocd going to leave it though LOL

    • @RaymondNotario

So when you make passes with the surface cleaner it is very hard not to go overlap a couple inches over a spot that has already been cleaned. This causes "lines" sometimes. The side to side method makes this much less noticeable

Hi Ray is that a 1/2 hp Leader Pump ,how do you like it for soft wash, can you shoot a roof top. I use an ar 45 /honda. looks like it will do the same job as the ar except 1/3 of the cost of the ar which works for me .I use a gravity fed low 50 gallon batch system on a 2" feed line from the tote. and the same tank overhead for bleach on a gravity fed 1" line. 3 minute refill time and gives me an exact mix I use it for down streaming as well on my other pump....yes its old school .it saves the equipment .I never comment ..or read comments. .and yes I have a metering system ... I just like the process. I like your style Ray....keep up the good work

Hey ray idk why I’m watching this rn...lol....but here I am!
Confused about your tip explaining tho...don’t you have 4 tips/1 bar?
Correct me if I’m wrong but 4 tips, rated 4GPM, isn’t that surface cleaner rigged for 16GPM at that point? If it was 2 tips, I’d use the 45 degree, 2.5gpm. It equal 5gpm total but, matched with the 45 degree tip its a beautiful combination (I think that’s what I have at least...)

    • @RaymondNotario
      @RaymondNotario  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sub 4 sub? 😂
I plugged 2 of the 4 because I think that 2 tips works better than 4 and its also 2 less tips to clog. I run 2504x2 which is matched to 8gpm.

"Pretreat separates men from the boys" EXACTLY! Yesterday I had a Chuck in a truck come up to me while I was pretreating and talking to the client and he said "OMG, You use chemicals!?! I never use chemicals, that's crazy" Of course he was trying to hate on me in front of my client so as he was unloading his Super Bad A** Dewalt 4000 psi unit from his truck to do the neighbors driveway I called him out and told him to only do 1/2 of his clients driveway and I would do the 2nd half. Whoever had the cleanest section got the whopping $65 that he was charging. Lol, I hated to work so easily for that little bit of money but I HAD to show my client how inexperienced this guy was especially since my charge was $199 for the same size driveway. Here's the best part.... I told him that I wont use my 8gpm and I wont use his Big Beast unit, I Guaranteed that my section of his clients driveway would be at minimum just as clean as his but probably better and I would ONLY use my air diaphragm system and NOTHING else. No surface cleaner, no pressure washer! Only 90-100 psi. to clean and rinse. LET THE GAMES BEGIN! As I watched him move super slow with his red home depot surface cleaner (not knocking it, only his ego), he made multiple passes on every inch of his section, making sure that he had Zero striping going on even though we both knew that this attempt is the most attentive cleaning that hes ever done. "Alright...Beat that he said, hahaha".
Well...I cranked up the air compressor, set my mix super hot (SH cranked all the way up, Water dialed down to 1, and Slo Mo surfactant at 3). I laid down 2 layers of pure heat. "You smell that Chuck"? "Its Robert, not Chuck he said. Lol. Oh okay Chuck (in a truck). "Man the smell is killing us over here" he said. I've gotta admit, it was burning nose hairs on him I'm sure. Lol. Anyways, as i was letting that beautiful layered heat blanket dwell on the concrete, I had to point out a few things i noticed on his part of the surface. Like...the skim coat missing in multiple areas. How did that happen? Oh uh uh, that's what happens when you deep clean concrete. Hmmm okay. "Did you hear that? I asked my client that was awaiting the results of the contest. I pointed out that my clients driveway didnt do that, maybe I didnt "deep clean" it enough. Idiot! Approx 15-20 mins dwell time goes by so now it's time to rinse. No pressure washer, only my soft wash set up (1/2" All Flo). 15 mins of rinsing and the contest was over. Night and day difference, He couldn't say 1 word besides, I never knew chemicals could clean so well. I must admit that ole ROBERT surprised me, as I was rolling hoses after finishing the house wash part of my cleaning, he walked up to me, stuck his hand out to say thank you and in his hand he had 3 - 20s and a 5 balled up. He actually paid up on his loss of the bet. I gave him $45 back and said use this to buy you a few gallons of 12.5%.
Moral to the story... Professional Knowledge = Professional Results.
Long story but every bit of it true.

Great video. I’m new to learning about pressure washing. So you use the soft wash system to pretreat? If I were to start a pressure cleaning company one day without all of the soft wash equipment, what’s the next most efficient way to pretreat?

By law the supplier has to have them available. Some mail them with the product others you'll need to get through email or online.

I would either use Hot Stain Remover from Eaco Chem or I'd mix up 3 gallons of water and 1lb of Sodium Hydroxide in a bucket. (Always add the beads to water, don't add water to the beads)

Have you tried plugging opposite holes on the bar to see if it cleans different? I'm thinking that having them offset might help to feather out any lines. If mine had 4 holes I'd try it.

No I haven't tried that, but i've heard of people putting different degree tips in the other 2 holes.

I have been doing a ton of research these past 5 days looking to break into the industry and start a side hustle on my days off from work in the oilfield. Does anyone suggest the best items I should invest in to get off on the right foot with a $4,000 budget? All answers are greatly appreciated!

That depends on what system you're using. For downstream start with 50/50 and go up from there.

I have a question. What do you do with the wastewater when cleaning concrete driveways? Do you let it run off in storm drain or do you pick it up and prevent it from going into drain?
