Thanks for this Steve! My Mk 2 had the valve removed by a previous owner so I've got a new one to plumb in. It's worth noting that early spits have 'pull for heat' type valves and later ones are 'push for heat' types so you have to be careful to order the correct part. Some sellers advertise the same heater valve for all marks, so it could be easy to get caught out.
Great Job...I like that you do the right things right and don't take any shortcuts! Red Rubber grease is a great idea...Thanks, you inspire me to work on my 1965 Triumph Spitfire...
Just started doing mine as valve was leaking. Old valve bolts were seized solid so now need to order the flange and o-ring too! What you’d think was an easy job ended up being another PITA!! 😂
I would of thought it was something like that. It's amazing how many Spitfire Mk4 parts I've found on the car, I'm convinced a Mk4 was gutted to keep my Mk3 on the road 👍
It's a 2BA thread with a 3/16 spanner size. Moss Motors do an excellent catalogue with all the drawing and diagrams for all the parts you'll ever need for your Spitfire for free. It's worth looking at there website and getting hold of one 👍
@@SteveDentonClassics thanks Steve, great hint, I went and looked at Moss' website and realised I can't put the valve in as the whole heater bypass return path is missing.

That's an interesting point that I didn't know about, and I'll pin your comment to the top as it maybe helpful to other owners 👍

Cheers mate, it’s comments like this that really make me think it’s worthwhile doing the videos I do 👍
Morning Steve another great informative video, take care
Kev👍🇬🇧
Cheers Kevin, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Didn't realise how different the valves were between models, works so much better with the proper type 👍. Good work as always.
Oh yeah, they are all a bit different in there mountings, but the valve itself is almost the same regardless of it being MGB Spitfire GT6 etc etc 👍
Snap, I was just about to do the same job, in my case there is no valve at all. A very helpful video as always. Hope your back is feeling better.
Cheers James, I'm much better now, glade my video is helpful to you 👍
Nice job Steve.
Cheers David 👍
Fab video. Love to see some things that might be worth giving a go.
Cheers Che, I always thing you've got nothing to loose giving it a try 👍

Sadly sometimes that's the way it can be with 50 year old car. It's better to prepare to fail, than fail to prepare 👍
Love the video Steve. Very informative!
Cheers Charlie, glad you enjoyed it!
Morning Steve. You do wonder why the wrong heater valve was fitted in the first place. I guess at the time , near enough was good enough ! Thanks .

Hi Steve, I've been tripped up by missing hardware. What size are the bolts for connecting the valve to the flange, 3/16" UNF?
