  • 400ft climb test with DJI Mavic Pro using "Super Sport Mode" -- a "jailbreak" parameter modification that allows you to achieve ~20mph speeds vertically. Test blast to 400ft with this change (skip to 2:04) resulted in reaching 400ft AGL in ~14 seconds.
    ● DJI Mavic Pro: us.banggood.com/custlink/vDmD...
    The increased power draw from the motors will generate more heat as well as sap your battery life. Don't abuse this feature. Enable voltage monitoring and watch it carefully,
    I strongly recommend never letting it sag below ~3.70 per cell while you're throttling up so keep an eye on your "resting voltage" as well as your regular voltage. Don't exceed 3.6v maximum! The battery voltage monitor will always display the lowest/weakest cell's voltage of the 3s battery, so you can be sure that when you aren't stressing the lowest cell the others are fine.
    In many 400ft climbs I was never able to trigger a red "critical battery over current" only a "maximum motor speed reached" yellow warning. You can raise sport_cfg_vert_acc_up from 9 to 10, but I feel that setting is too high after many tests at this point and feeling the motors. To each their own though!
    Finally, on the way back, the vertical acceleration down and velocity are excellent also, you can see how stable it is with these settings.
    My DJI Assistant 2 'Super Sport Mode' Configuration
    #Sport+ or "Super Sport" Mode
    g_config_mode_sport_cfg_tilt_atti_range = 50
    g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_vel_up= 9
    g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_vel_down = -8
    g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_acc_up = 9
    g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_acc_down = -8
    g_config_fw_cfg_max_speed = 20
    brake_sensitive_gain = 70

    When DJI programs they put already max flight perimeters in to software so the aircraft stays reliable ( they have to warranty it ) you prob won’t damage motors but the Esns that drive them can go bad and if one goes the craft crashes They test these for many hours to set them em up idk I think it’s Climb is already amazing I’d rather know it’s reliable. Plus if it’s in warranty they won’t fix it if any mods are done. I know that with my phantom .

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are correct. These values were added by DJI after testing it and it ensures the highest reliability and battery longevity. This video was created to demonstrate that it IS possible to adjust, but not that someone should. And if anyone does choose to do this they must proceed with caution.
      I will say that in the months following this video many have modified their DJI Mavic to hit these speeds -- and I'm not aware of anyone who has popped an ESC yet. HOWEVER, I have seen plenty of videos that show the "Battery Over Current" warning with g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_vel_up= 10, g_config_mode_sport_cfg_vert_acc_up= 10. I think that the Mavic was made quite well and has a lot of overhead room to handle beyond its original specifications but it'll surely shorten life of things like the battery if pushed to the limit.
      These modifications also should not be done for anyone who values their warranty. My situation is unique, so I was willing to test it and make this video. Some people have their Mavic insured with State Farm in the United States for $60 a year, so worst case it dies and they get the full cash value of the drone, regardless of whether it was user error or not.
      This is not a race drone, and this should not be used as a race drone. My subscribers wanted to see a demonstration of this modification and that's what I did. I don't use my mavic to race, that would be a total joke. Anyone who is interested in actual racing drones, check my other videos

      No such thing as esn's.....😤 they are called esc's and the parameters are there and can be changed this has been tested extensively and does not heat up the esc's anymore than stock. You just have to be careful and know what you're doing also why would one turn in the aircraft with the parameters hacked???? I would hope that you would flash it back to stock then your warranty is okay!!! Little Common Sense here

    Hey, today I enabled the Super-Sport-Mode for the first Mavic 2. I did it like the Mavic 1. The Mavic 2 has a 4S Battery and very strong motors. It feels very good to fly the Mavic 2 in SSP.

    Hey John, I have a question or anyone else out there. I had to get a new phone and the app did not transfer to my new Android Note 8 for the Mavic Pro I have. I used the DJI GO app in the past. I have downloaded a couple of those apps and none of them seem to allow my phone and mavic to connect properly. I have not done an update for a very long time since I have the "jailbreak" installed on this which I love and want to keep. Can you suggest an app or link for me to get these connected and a possible safe upgrade? Thanks, Rod

      @JohnCuppi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. I would look into the patched DJI Go 4 app for Android from nolimitdronez.com which is what I believe most people are using these days. You’ll have to pay for it though but perhaps it’s worth it to keep yourself free from the grips of DJI. There may be a free patched DJI Go 4 App for Android but I know NLD is reputable and on top of all the Mavic “Jailbreaking” these days

  • @RodolfoNeuhaus
    @RodolfoNeuhaus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like to know how you could modify the parameters. Where are the parameters, inside a file from the DJI 4 GO App, or DJI Mavic 2 Pro-Assistant? What tool did you use to modify the values of parameters? I greatly appreciate knowing your comments. Regards. Did you try to cancel the altitude restriction of up to 500 meters?

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s been years since I did this and I no longer own the Mavic Pro 1. Just sold it a few months ago. But I did this using DJI Assistant 2, the bug in the app that allowed that was patched. I wouldn’t bother trying to do that anymore. You should check out nolimitdronez.com they have a complete, tidy package to do all of that now. And yes, the software removes all altitude and NFZ limits as well for Mavic Pro 1.

      Yes, after making this video I noticed I had this issue. The value appears to reset after the drone is rebooted on .900 firmware. This value will not, however, affect vertical speed but only horizontal speeds as far as I can tell. I tried taking the mavic hot off the computer after changing the value and did not have any different results with my vertical speed test.

      Hi Guilio! It is hard to say, as every flight is different, however it took about 2% of the battery life to go from ~5ft to 400ft. However, if I just hovered there, the flight time in general would not be drastically different.

      Alex Crowder the wording is confusing, sorry. It says that I strongly recommend not letting it drop below 3.7 volts.
      You can...but then you’re allowing the battery to drop below what’s known the nominal voltage for the cells.
      And if you start letting it drop past 3.6v that’s a really bad idea, since now you’re a whole 0.10v past the nominal voltage.
      Hope that makes sense a bit

Is there an easy way to bypass or get around this restriction. Just want to climb to 400' again. I checked my limits and have them set at max.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Altitude limitations in general can be removed by using this configuration:
      g_config_flying_limit_height_limit_enabled = 2
      g_config_flying_limit_limit_height_abs_without_gps = 3000
      g_config_flying_limit_limit_height_abs = 3000
      g_config_flying_limit_limit_height_rel = 3000
      This prevents the mavic from obeying DJI's altitude hard limits. These settings do work in .900 firmware (latest) which is what my mavic runs on.

    Is there a mod for NFZ with the .900 firmware?

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, unfortunately. .900 is compatible with GPS speed increases, wind warning disable, and the sport mode hacks, and some have gotten atti mode to work on it but not me. Disabling NFZs is a no-go for 900 -- have to be on 700 or 400. And 400 causes gimbal issues for some people so beware of that if you're thinking of downgrading.

    • @SpottedXtreme

    i am so lost with all the mod stuff. lol
    i am debating trying to figure it all out but i am not sure if there would be a benefit for me with filming.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Ozz the increased horizontal speeds may be of great value if you need to fight the wind or follow something moving fast!
      vertical speed, well, it does help you get the hell up in the air REALLY fast to get a shot. And the faster descent speeds are so smooth!!!
      The Atti mode mod is a feature many have web wanting for ages but I didn't discuss it this vid since it doesn't work for my particular firmware version, might work for you.
      The mods are fun but as you said they might not be totally applicable.

    • @SeanOzz
      @SeanOzz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can turn on and off atti mode with it? that's awesome!
      can you make it so just sports mode is effected? that would be sorta dope if so.
      then you could go from film mode to crazy fast mode to get in position to get the shot.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sean Ozz yes! In fact both sport mode and GPS mode have entirely separate parameters :)
      so you can blast up in sport mode and switch to gps after that, which stays "slow." You can also increase speeds on GPS mode too but OA will need to be disabled to use them.
      And yes you can replace the sport mode switch with Atti mode. but again doesn't work for me on 900 firmware for some reason. It allows me to change the switch behavior but mid flight the Mavic changes me back into gps mode. Not sure why.

      Andrea Rosso Hi Andre. I will be checking for any information regarding this in the coming days. It makes sense that DJI has killed the altitude cap and other parameters I don't think they would be stupid enough to leave a new parameter under a different name, unfortunately. Yep, totally understandable. The funny thing is that outside the DJI world of drones, configurable parameters are very normal. Buy any F3 flight control board and you can tweak the settings to your heart's content. It would bewilder me to *not* have such abilities in many of the the other ready-to-fly quads that I purchase all the time. So I enjoy having the options on my DJI drone -- for now, anyway. moses brown Ok buddy, listen, all I did was put this video up as a demonstration of what it’s capable of and that’s it. I then offered help to anyone who decided they wanted to do it. I don’t see anywhere that I said “*hell yeah you should definitely do it*”, either.
      Perhaps my message about being careful and not beating up the hardware got muddled a bit in this test... but all I tried to do was tell those who choose to make these modifications to exercise some caution when they do so. Watch your battery life + voltage, don’t overdraw the current, watch motor heat, etc. Modding values willy nilly can lead to problems. And the speed increase is very real, and catches some off guard. Had a guy comment he did the changes and he wasn’t used to the speed and slammed his Mavic right into the side of his house.

      Ryan Toomey That’s why I advise taking care / caution for anyone who attempts this modification. Overall though it appears the ESC can handle it fine based on my experience using this over a period of time, especially in short bursts. Battery wear and tear though is unavoidable with this one, monitoring voltages and not doing this when it’s low helps quite a bit though. thanks for the comment! 😎
