  • Yep, I got myself a 1911 in .45ACP of course! Sure, it's a Chinese
Norinco, but so far I've been surprised by the quality and reliability
of this firearm and further research tells me you will be too.
This model specifically is the 1911A1 so it's done up like the
original WWII era sidearm used by the US Army from 1911 until the mid
1980's when they switched to 9mm (NATO) and the Beretta M9.
The 1911 is now over 100 years old, originally designed by John
Browning and built by Colt (along with GM, Singer, Remington etc during
WWII) the 1911 has become popular with target shooters for having a
short, crisp, single action only trigger pull. The patents held by Colt
eventually expired and today there are literally hundreds of companies
making 1911's. From Colt, Ruger, Sig, Remington, Rock Island
Armories, Norinco and many more. You can get the 1911 in many
configurations, even different calibers (45ACP being the original) to
more modern adaptions with skeletonized triggers, hammers, extended
beaver-tails, flat main-spring housings, forward slide serrations, ported barrels, ambi-safety
selectors, even frames with rails to mount flashlights and much more.
The 1911 is one of the most beloved and customizable pistols of all
    time.
Norinco is a Chinese firearm manufacture who makes firearms for both
the Chinese military and for civilian export sales. They made many
military service weapons including the Chinese SKS and several AK
variants. Their SKS's and AK's both have a reputation for being well
built, just as well built as the Russian arms they're based on.
They still make the Type 97 Bull-pup Assault Rifles for the Chinese
Military but they also make several versions of classic American
firearms inc the 1911, Sig P226 and M14/M1A rifles. Well I'm not so
sure about the Sig clones I've heard only praise for the 1911's and
M14/M1A's. I guess you could say if there's one thing the Chinese are
really good at making, it's firearms.

Nice introduction and mini review of the Norinco 1911. I have the exact same gun, purchased in 1994 just before the US ban on Chinese imports. I've thought many times about selling it or trading it in for a "nicer" 1911, but am glad I've held onto it. Very solid and reliable pistol. Thanks for the video!

Wondered if you were still alive, Jake. Happy to see new vids from ya. Don't be a stranger anymore. Games or guns, you always do a good review.

Love the Norinco 1911, if only the US would drop the import ban. Great vid!

finally a new video!!! That's a good looking gun. The recoil looks a bit dramatic from the shooting you showed. and I also like that trigger set up.

+wesgrosscustoms Yeah, it's a 45 afterall, but really it's not THAT bad at all. I guess the guns weight helps a bit plus 45 is kinda a smoother, slow, push. I mean it pushes on ya a bit but it doesn't feel that "snappy" I almost think my Tokarev feels more snappy with the hotter ammo. But also I don't think this ammo I'm shooting is anything super as far as 45 goes I'm sure there's some defensive rounds that would have more kick than these. 1911's have awesome triggers for range shooting, single action only and nice and short.

Parts are interchangeable with US made 1911. Springs should be replaced with US made and mags are ok but would do with an upgrade. Mine has UN spec mags, a Charles Daly barrel and US made spring set. Good as gold. Military copies made by Norc are apparently good steel.

That is a sexy 1911. I still don't have one. Only .45 I have is a hi point LOL

+FuYing Bro Thanks, it is nice. I like the fact there's no "Norinco" or "Made in China" markings on it, there's no import markings or anything. Literally just "1911A1 .45" on the slide and the S/N on the frame. Nice and clean and the wood grips set it off. Thing is solid, I never expected the Chinese guns to be this good. I mean for $350 Canadian (that's like $260 USD) these things are amazing!

That is an awesome find man. I looked up how much they cost here and it is int he $500 to $600 range. I think that is because of our jerk for a pres and prior pres that put an embargo on firearms from China and Russia.

+FuYing Bro Yeah, our guns for the most part are much more expensive here but Russian and Chinese guns are the exception being cheaper here.

A buddy of mine bought one of those rock island 1911's its a good gun for the money, he installed neon green neoprene grips and a flash deflector cant remember the real name for that off hand but it helps with recoil. Seems you got a good deal on it thats for sure. How is the laws for handguns in canada? Is it hard to get the license?

    • @MN12Guns
      @MN12Guns  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+hanksranger We have to do background checks and take written and hands on tests and a safety course to get a license to buy firearms. One set for long guns, and another to get a "restricted" license for handguns. Once you have a restricted license you can buy handguns but you need to join a range and get another licence to transport them! You are required a certain amount of hours shooting at the range to get that so they know you can handle it. I had to go several nights a shoot for a few hours to show I can at least shoot decently and am safe. Once you have the restricted license, and the transport license you're good to buy basically any handguns you want and take them to your range. But I can only take them to my range, not other places. Long guns we can take anywhere, don't need license to transport, can go out hunting with them etc but not handguns. Our handguns are limited to 10 round magazine by law. So I can buy a Glock 17 for example but the mags will be 10 round version similar to California or NY in that regard. Yeah, I heard Rock Island 1911's are good. But nowhere near as cheap as these are here. $350 Canadian is like $275 USD?? But keep in mind a Glock 17 costs like $750 here! These are super cheap here in Canada but from what I heard Norinco 1911's are like $500 USD in the US. Most guns are much more expensive here but Chinese and some Russian guns are the one exception they're cheaper here because they are banned from import in the USA so they're more rare there yet they are too common up here! Russian and Chinese guns are by far the cheapest guns we can get up here since we import so many of them I guess.

wow thats amazing, yea i paid 400 for my gen1 glock 17 a while back, its been a great gun been very happy with it

+hanksranger Can't go wrong with Glock. Best "all-around" pistol there is for defensive shooting and carry. Simple, reliable, easy to maintain, easy to get replacement and upgrade parts for etc etc etc. There may be some that are better for carry (ie slimmer) and some that are better for range shooting (SAO) but again, all-around, as a defensive tool... there's a reason the Glock is so popular!

Jason Horn nope haven't changed a thing. Might need a new extractor as it sometimes ejects straight back in to my face usually on the last round in a magazine the extractor seems too long like it doesn't hold the cartridge tight to the breatch face. But it still runs fine otherwise.

do they take normal 1911 mags fine?

    • @MN12Guns
      @MN12Guns  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Normal 1911 mags? This is a 1911, just like any other. Yes it should take any 1911 mag just fine. I don't even know if all (or any) of my mags are Norinco. They could very well just be USGI surplus or anyone else mags. Shouldn't make any difference. For what it's worth the 3 mags I have are all I've ever used but the gun is rock solid reliable. Again it's built more like the original Colt WWII era 1911A1 than most other brands today (including Colt!) since it doesn't have the firing pin block and the tolerances are fairly loose just like the military ones were.
