      Ase Morton false I have a rx-7 with its original 12a rotary still in it and with propermaintenance it has 120k on the current rebuild and running strong. The engine itself haves over 250k original miles total and now 120k after the rebuild. You just gotta know how to upkeep the engine you gotta do premix and make sure it’s not starved upgraded fuel pump and injectors etc and make sure you rev the piss out of it not like a mad man tho and let it rev out while driving it they last long but people say they are unreliable because they don’t know nothing about upkeep and treat them like piston engines that’s there down fall.

    • @Aseutester
      @Aseutester 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Irish swaggkidd What's the importance of reving them (other than the fact thats how they make their power) in relation to longevity/reliability!?

      The idea comes from Mazda, who used variable intake runners on the 787B. This is first time I've seen someone else do it. Either way, it's pretty cool.

      It looks like it switches between long and short runners at a given RPM. If he used a micro controller paired with a stepper or servo motor he could have a continuous runner length adjustment rather than the simple two position system.

      No, definedautoworks did the build and its known as a semi-peripheral port in the rotary world. This is a full peripheral port - a much larger hole in the rotor housing allowing more air into the motor. Jack at HP logic races that car in a series where full peripheral porting isnt allowed and as such his motor is a VERY complex build to meet those regulations. That is what he didn't explain in his videos to people who dont know about rotary!

    Hey guys I just come across this video. And you said that your 3 rotor is a 3 ltr. I run a 3 rotor in my s 2 rx7. And it’s all 20 b parts and it’s a 2ltr. 1995cc’s. How did you make yours a 3 ltr? Because I have just panted a Rotory engine that’s is a 4ltr and you can’t use any normal rotary parts. So that’s 13b/20b/ 12a or 10a parts. Its all custom. So I think you said you used 13b housings so that means the rotors will be 3x221.6 I think off the top of my head. Making each rotor around 665cc’s so 3x 665cc’s is 1995cc’s so 2ltr. Or did you make a mistake saying 3 ltr? Or it being a rotary you have to step up to the 3ltr class? I’m just asking not trying to course any problems with any one or anything like that. I’m just asking. Because it is very interesting to me. I’m all ways wanting to learn things from anyone who has done something different. Oh and I must say cool racing. Love the 7. It’s kickass. I just have a busted ass series 2 Rx7 with a 20b in it. With a modified GT47. To suit the 20b. I run it to 10,000 rpm and I only need 12psi. But I love it at 20psi, it’s just sick now with all the mods I’ve done to it. And when I finish my the 40p I call it. No turbo needed. It’s going to make big hp na. I love 4 rotors. But I wanted to have something that no one else has got. It’s my design and the way I want it. But anyone who wanted to build one can go do it. It’s not hard. There are a lot of people around the world building crazy rotors. And it’s kickass to see. Good on ya guys good work.

    if the intake moves down near the top of RPM why not make it short to get the extra hp all the time ...or is it like v-tec for mazda

      look up acoustic supercharging friend, long runners actually give you more power at lower RPM, whereas they don't make as much power at higher RPMS,
      short runners make a lot more power at the top end of the RPM range but make very little torque when you're at low RPM

    How is it considered a 3 litre? 3x693cc rotors isnt it? Sounds delicious. 26B would sound even better. Long live the Silver Bullet in rotary guise....

    • @PalaPadel

      3 rotors are 2 liters

      Yeah so whats your explanation? He was saying it was a 3 litre motor.

      5:21. 654cc each rotor not 693cc.

      3 litre class of racing maybe?

    • @johnwilson1794

      CAMS applies a factor of 1.6 to rotary engine capacity to make it fairer for piston engines. So whatever capacity the rotary is it has to be multiplied by 1.6 and that's the class they race in. A similar factor is applied to forced induction motors.

    Can’t someone explain to me why the itb’s retreat/get smaller at a certain rpm? Is it for more airflow at the top end?

      TheOne AndOnly They match the acoustical tuning of the intake to the engine. Every time the port opens or closes, a pressure wave passes back though the intake runner. Similarly, when it reaches the end of the pipe, a wave reflects back towards the port. The goal of intake tuning is the line up the high pressure part of the oscillating flow to coincide with the open port, driving air into the engine.

      It’s all wave harmonics and resonant frequencies, if done properly, you can get more than 100% volumetric efficiency by induction tuning.

    I always thought that the 20B was a 2L not 3L

    • @joshbrookes6439
      @joshbrookes6439 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically it is a 2.0 litre but in racing they put em in the next class up so 20B in the 3 Litre class. The 13B runs in the 2 Litre class i think? It just depends on what class and what country you race in, as the rules are different everywhere you go. Whats really impressive about this RX7 is most race meetings its snapping at the heels of 6.3 litre chevs and other monstrous beasts that are in the open class. It punches above its weight and has been since early 2000s Chris and the centerline team have earned the respect of everyone in the [paddock including his competitors

    It's a 3 liter! everyone remember it's only
    a 3 liter!!**
    **with the same # of combustion events per rpm as a 9 cylinder but the weight of a Briggs and Stratton... And it spins like a dam turbine! still I'm sure there's a 3 liter 6cyl out there that can make that kind of power na with better torque, more predictably and less rpm... there is something to be said for the volumetric efficiency and the round combustion chamber of a piston. It's funny how on paper the rotary should be far and away better but it's just not in real life... The weight advantage is real but the rotary is just a labor of love regardless..

    • @dilsher12
      @dilsher12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each rotor fires once per crank revolution so a 3 rotor has same number of firing event per revolution as a 6cylinder . So a 20b is effectively a 4.0L but I guess they class it as a 3.0 given its inefficiencies compared to a piston engine .
