I have only ever driven two door coupes and thought that EVs would end that streak. I’m so excited Dodge is going to help me keep from giving in to four door crossovers.
Things I like: - Overall styling, specifically the front end. Looks like a muscle car. - "Fratzonic" exhaust. Cool idea that could be great in execution. Something that will set it apart from other EVs other than the visuals. - That it isn't a UV. - Dodge's being open to the electric car market. Though it's a harsh reality, the automotive/transportation sector is a large contributor to climate change, and Tim is right about the automotive industry going electric. Time will tell if this will mean the end of ICEs altogether, but Dodge still has to get in the electric game. Great that they're not giving up and making their EV boring. Things I don't like/ am unsure of: - Rear 3/4 is unflattering at best. The pillars are set too far back and the car is too short. Obviously this is for aero reasons, but I think there is still room for improvement in that area. - Skeptical of the "transmission". Does it actually have different gear ratios or is it just an interruption in power to simulate the sensation of a shift? Not sure how this would play out in the real world and how different gears would complement an electric drivetrain. - That they called it the Daytona. I understand that it's a callback to the '69 in that aero heavily influenced the design, but it doesn't really work for this new car in my opinion. And "Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue easily.
Agree with this. Especially that short, stubby trunk. Unflattering at best. Given that concepts are generally the sexiest that a car will be, I'm worried that just how it'll be. Time will tell, though.

@@matthewwitzke4520 the auctions will be full of cars no one wants because they can’t get fuel or it’s limited. I am very excited about this car. I love this car a lot. I will definitely be buying one when they are available for purchase. Great job to all the engineers and designers that went into developing this vehicle.
I don't know if I would still call that a charger. Yeah sure the name might work somewhat but it's not anywhere close to the same as what the charger stands for today. Honestly if you wanted to bring back a nameplate, bring back either conquest, or stealth. I could see those being used quite effectively.
Knight Rider........that came to my friends mine and I can't blame him... just Darker and creepier..Well I have to say it does look good, but it is what it is these days... I will hold onto my Scat pack challenger until I go to the grave.
I talked to many people about this issue. I hope they make it a nice bench seat in the back instead of the 2 bucket seats or at least have an option to keep the bench seat. Being able to fit 5 people in your car makes a big difference vs only 4 people. Also I would love for the car to have mercedes type range of over 600 miles since they are working so much on being aerodynamic.
As a long time charger fan (first car was a 66 charger and now I own a hellcat charger), I'm ecstatic that they chose the Charger nameplate for this car. Charger fans have been taking a back seat to the challenger ever since the modern challenger was released, only receiving hand me downs for the last few years. Finally a 2 door charger is back and I'm looking forward to it.
Honestly, I love it. I hope there is an option to turn the sound off, but otherwise this is a grand slam homerun for me. Please please continue making this type of car. There's a reason the challenger sold so well despite it being largely unchanged for 15 years. Its because the muscle car style touches on something that is timeless. It doesnt have to be the fastest car on the planet either. About 600 hp paired with the torque of an EV would be an amazing driving experience. On top of that, offer it in plum crazy purple and I'll be first in line when orders start. What I love most is how Dodge managed to find a way to make the characteristic boxy front end have a function on a car that doesn't have an engine under the hood. It appeals to my sense of functionality while preserving a styling cue I really like.
Yo, i wanna say, dodge is the actual best! better than any other rich brand. if you haven't, make one on the dodge challenger srt hellcat redeye widebody
I’m really sorry to hear that and I’m sure that the Dodge Bros would be sad as well. We don’t need EVs, we need a new gas powered V8 engine as evil as the Demon, with more than 1.000 HP. #ScrewEVs #GasRulesAll #V8engines
I think the design is solid. I've seen some other footage of the interior and console - honestly looks great. I wasn't a fan of the obviously studio-recorded idle and engine sound playing over the speakers, BUT... in a crowded press room, they likely had to do it. I'd love to hear what it actually sounds like on a street.
This “exhaust” and “shifting” reminds me of that movie with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James where they were designing exhaust and shifting sensations for dodge chargers from mid 2010’s
@@shadowkidgaming8253 Why do you think that? I mean all manufacturers are in the same boat so it's not like Dodge is just leaving the ICE space and everyone else is still gonna be putting out 600-800hp supercharged vehicles year after year after year like we previously saw. Dodge is potentially doing something that will set them apart from other EV's which is exactly what they need to do. I'm sorry the Hellcat engines are going away but it is what it is and like I said, all manufacturers are doing the same thing. Dodge is going outside the box with this car. It's definitely not just another boring looking EV like a Tesla or Nissan Leaf. You have to say goodbye to the past and look to the future. We are absolutely not going backwards with engines.
I will say 4 things. 1. Best looking ev and good looking all round 2. If you are calling back to arguably one of the greatest muscle cars of all time, you got to add the double indents on the doors like the 69'. Not sure how this affects aero, but i dont really care. They are a staple of the car and look badass 3. I love the idea of noise, but thats wayy to high pitched. Needs to be a deep rumble not sounds like a kitten fighting with a vacuum. If they can make a car in a video game sound realistic, dodge better be able to with a much larger engineering team and budget than a gaming studio 4. This needs to hold up to the performance and absolutely decimate the current ev leaders
I have a response for ur 3rd and 4th points: 1. The sound of the car is the natural sound. What you are hearing is the electric motor amplified through the “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” at the back. What it is is essentially an acoustic chamber in conjunction with an amplifier 2. Performance doesn’t matter anymore I’m EVs where the performance numbers for every EV are the same generic 1.9 second 0-60 time and the same 250+ mph. That’s why Dodge is capitalizing on improving the experience of driving an EV. They know they can’t make an EV that can outperform any other performance EV, so they instead wanted to make one that was much more fun to drive than any other performance EV. What matters more to me is the price and the range. If it’s expensive like most other performance EVs, then I’m turned off from this car altogether. But if it’s the first performance EV to be affordable, then they can take my wallet
As an owner of multiple Stellantis/FCA products, I will put this in the nicest way possible…if the top tier Daytona EV doesn’t make a Tesla Model S Plaid & Roadster seem slow in comparison, best of luck selling these unless they are literally a fraction of their price.

I wish it sounded more "electric" not a vacuum cleaner
So who will be the first person to do a Hellcat swap?
So we get the whole car but have to pay extra to unlock features and modes of the car?
I have only ever driven two door coupes and thought that EVs would end that streak. I’m so excited Dodge is going to help me keep from giving in to four door crossovers.
Or a Hemi/EV. Ev for daily driving, HEMI for everything else
Now that’s a good idea
Hybrid?
Why
Things I like:
- Overall styling, specifically the front end.
Things I don't like/ am unsure of:
- Rear 3/4 is unflattering at best.
They said it actually has gears. Not all EVs are single speed.
Agree with this. Especially that short, stubby trunk. Unflattering at best. Given that concepts are generally the sexiest that a car will be, I'm worried that just how it'll be. Time will tell, though.
and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak does??
And this is why I am already on the list to order yet another Hellcat.
This new EV is going to smoke your hellcat off the line. Might be close though
@@MrThe1234guy And I have no doubt it will due to AWD and the instant electric power. But if that is all I wanted, I would have bought a Tesla several years ago. This is more about the experience and joy of having a car that really is a muscle car. Loud and in your face. Where Dodge is going, is not it and don't even get me started on the phony sound the new one makes. We are seeing the death of the muscle car just like what happened in the early 70's. Watch the big auctions, the American cars that go for big money are the muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. We are about to repeat this.
@@MrThe1234guy lol.... than go get you a fast fridge on wheels 🤣😂😂🤣😂
Keep it in a nitrogen bubble.
@@matthewwitzke4520 the auctions will be full of cars no one wants because they can’t get fuel or it’s limited. The 60 and 70s muscle cars were desired because of their uniqueness and limited availability. There’s nothing unique about todays Hellcats or Challengers other than stickers. When your 2000s Hellcat or Demon is getting smoked by an EV , you’ll be regretting that purchase. It’s not 1972 all over again, this is a total paradigm shift
I love they went back to the 60s Dodge Logo!!! My husband has a 63 Dodge 440 and I just love the logo glad to see it back!!!
I'm absolutely with it. It looks mean af and I love the idle sound. Don't care for the revving sound as much but I'll reserve final judgement until I hear it in person.
My exact thoughts! Sounds so good idle buf the revving ehh but as you said will have to hear it to know how it really sounds
Well u can have that trash..
don't think that "rev" sound was good, but the low drone is cool
Notice it was in an enclosed space?
Yeah played on a speaker.
Not gonna lie
It's sound liked it's coming from a empty can of beans
Well I had my doubts...but this damn thing is bad ass...and its also a 2 door Charger!!! Great retro styling meets modern styling..
Sound like your stepping on a vacuum cleaner not gon lie 😭🤣
I really want this car!
Please make it as fast as a Tesla Plaid, so we don't have to take any isht from those pony-tail wearing, latte-sipping, greener-than-thou tree huggers!
I've had three Teslas, and as good as they are, I'd MUCH RATHER have an electric Dodge!
Thanks for confirming I won’t be spending money on a new Dodge in the foreseeable future. What’s the monthly subscription fee going to be on the fake exhaust?
Fake exhaust sound🤣🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮
It’s a “no” from me but I’m realistic about the world we live in so you have to respect the attempt to be a bad ass in the era of conforming.
Yeah sadly they dont have a choice
Not too mad about this tho
This looks actually awesome
Now when you're out in traffic and you see the thousands of cars imagine them all plugging in at 8:00 p.m. to charge overnight what a toll on the grid that is going to be. We aren't going to power all this muscle with windmills and solar. I'm not sure what they are thinking forcing manufacturers to go all electric. Sure will be fun for the whole hundred and fifty mile range you get out of this thing
How much far could you drive a redeye if you were driving it the way it was designed?
@@coopereaton5263 I think it was like 50-60 miles lol
@@coopereaton5263 further than this if you drove it "like it's supposed to be driven".
The point is that you can still go 400 miles in a redeye and it takes 5 minutes to fill up and doesn't destroy the power grid to do it
More like 350 miles. And in 5 or 10 years it will be 500 or even 600 miles. Also The power grid is probably gonna get an upgrade.
On thing I can appreciate about dodge is that they go all in on whatever they do, I would’ve been more upset if they made a weird crossover hybrid vehicle and called it a charger for marketing, they just went “all or nothing”.
And hopefully they get nothing so ford doesn't get the idea to do this to the mustang.
It looks aight or whatever. Imma keep my 21 widebody scat challenger.
Im just gonna put this here but why does this Daytona sound like the Turbo Interceptor from the movie The Wraith?
I love watching Dodge is doing and giving the finger to the competition with the Charger Daytona SRT "Banshee" is Baddest EV that's cooler and better than any of them offering.
Hummer still looks cooler
I think the sound aspect is stupid. I hope there is a way to turn it off. JMO
After realizing like you guys said they are changing they're changing the rules and we don't have a choice. I completely support what you guys have done and I am very proud to be a part of the family. Also because you made it practical I will most likely buy that for my wife as our family car
I love to see this futuristic car👍
That's a big boat for a 2-door. still looks like a 1990s concept design.
Awesome! Can't wait to get one, ... just hoping that the range is around 500 miles.
Kiniskis said they aren't trying to compete in that arena. They want to build an EV that's just as fun to drive as any other muscle car.
It looks ok but I’m holding judgment until it gets accessories placed on it lol
Wooooow first EV that I really want
I wish they brought this classic look back 20 years ago
I am very excited about this car. I love this car a lot. I will definitely be buying one when they are available for purchase. Great job to all the engineers and designers that went into developing this vehicle.
I don't know if I would still call that a charger. Yeah sure the name might work somewhat but it's not anywhere close to the same as what the charger stands for today. Honestly if you wanted to bring back a nameplate, bring back either conquest, or stealth. I could see those being used quite effectively.
Can I triple like this? Ya'll have lost your minds with this concept.....and I am here for it! Now lets make sure Plaid gets plaided.
Knight Rider........that came to my friends mine and I can't blame him... just Darker and creepier..Well I have to say it does look good, but it is what it is these days... I will hold onto my Scat pack challenger until I go to the grave.
I just hugged my Demon #1399 …and it ain’t going anywhere.
This looks great! Will it come to EU by any chance?
Well said, a true Charger was always a 2 door
So does that Fake exhaust speaker play spotify too? And can we adjust the bass because it seemed like it needed some tone controls.
It appeals to my sense of functionality while preserving a styling cue I really like.
they told the audience to withold the clapping so they can hear the exhaust note LMAO
Love the look. Hope you keep it looking aggressive as it is. Gorgeous car and a great job by the team.
Even tho I hate Electric Cars Dodge still takes the win again for keeping it Muscle!
It's not a muscle car unless it's got a V8
@@tannerbeaudette-renaud1355 I agree but for what the future is becoming this is the best their is out of all of the others!
Since this is technically a "Daytona", and it's based of the 68 model: I really hope we can get a giant Aero wing as an option
I was thinking about that to. I couldn't help but just think where is that big tall wing spoiler.
Just realized that this is a concept. That means it will be a four door in production.
Rip Dodge 1900-2022. You will be remembered for your Hemi V8's, not from this...
Yo, i wanna say, dodge is the actual best! better than any other rich brand. if you haven't, make one on the dodge challenger srt hellcat redeye widebody
Can’t help but remember the movie the Wraith
The sound and color are identical along with subtle styling similarities.
As devastated as I was when I first heard Dodge is going electric, I think I can stand behind this one… it’s kinda growing on me
Good, that's what the millions in advertising and marketing spend is supposed to do. Shift the narrative and change the minds of sheep.
@@jonathancorcoran9427 nah it's about calming insecure manlets, so they aren't afraid to lose their manhood when driving an EV.
I'll stick with my 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack wide body 392 Hemi thank you very much.
I’m really sorry to hear that and I’m sure that the Dodge Bros would be sad as well. We don’t need EVs, we need a new gas powered V8 engine as evil as the Demon, with more than 1.000 HP.
#ScrewEVs #GasRulesAll #V8engines
Agreed
Fast and furious 14 will be all electronic cars 😂😂😂
I think the design is solid. I've seen some other footage of the interior and console - honestly looks great.
I wasn't a fan of the obviously studio-recorded idle and engine sound playing over the speakers, BUT... in a crowded press room, they likely had to do it. I'd love to hear what it actually sounds like on a street.
Wait so the sound isn't coming from the car? If so that's great news!
um they are not speakers. the system runs on air flow not speakers
@@Qugie He is saying that they prerecorded the engine and rev to play during the reveal since they can't actually speed around in a crowded room
@@kota4160 oh ok I was going to say I hope it sounds better on the street and under load
The sounds came directly from the vehicle. I was there.

IF this had a v8 id be super excited. since its an EV i can care less. That fake exhaust is comical. lol.
I agree and this is all Brandon stupid plan. FJB
Looool it’s not fake. It’s the actual motor sound piped through the exhaust
Is there a day 4 for the super stock barracuda?
This “exhaust” and “shifting” reminds me of that movie with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James where they were designing exhaust and shifting sensations for dodge chargers from mid 2010’s
That was an epic car
Yea in that joke movie lol
The Dilemma…finally thought of the name last night
Does this include the 2018 dodge grand caravan in grey-black cause i got one of those
Il keep my v8
Im looking foward to this ngl. I am curious on how the exhaust and transmission will work tho
no exhaust, its a battery. It will probably be a single speed.
As a huge gasser guy, this thing looks and seems awesome. I just wish it's presence didn't have to get rid of the beloved hellcats
Sounds awesome? LOL
Yeah I think dodge is done lol
Alright, But is the sound programmable?
Perfect. My hope is that the price won't stand in the way of ever owning one.
60-100k is where it'll be..
Looks great! Want one!
This looks like a hella modern fun haver. Let's hope they manage to get the price away from the cost of a hellcat, also the sound im 50/50 on.
Is there a way to silence that exhaust. Either that or give other sound options because that one ain’t working.
I have a response for ur 3rd and 4th points:
1. The sound of the car is the natural sound. What you are hearing is the electric motor amplified through the “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” at the back. What it is is essentially an acoustic chamber in conjunction with an amplifier
