    Good day on the water, brother!
    Some chunky Snappers, and a decent Spanish Mack and Cobia too.
    Doesn’t get much better than that!

    Next time I travel to Destin/ Miramar I want to try fishing in the gulf in my kayak , your videos are helpful. I have never fished from a kayak in saltwater though. I’m sure it takes some practice

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm glad the videos have been helpful. Yes, offshore saltwater takes a bit of practice before getting comfortable. Getting past the surf and coming back onto the beach can the more challenging parts, but planning the trip when conditions permit can alleviate that. I recommend going out with a buddy, especially if you're new to just kayaking in general. If you don't have anyone to go with just make sure you wear your PFD and a way to call someone for help. Also make a plan and tell someone where you're going and when to expect you back. It's honestly not that difficult, but things can change quickly like flipping your kayak, taking in water, and/or the weather/conditions deteriorate. Hopefully this is helpful.

    Great video. I’m coming to Navarre next week to fish for first time out there. Is out from Destin pass that good or is it better out from Navarre ? You make it look easy dude.

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I appreciate it! It's way better out of Navarre and I've had better luck there. Going out of Destin pass is doable but very dangerous due to boat traffic and water conditions, I recommend not going out of the pass. You can always beach launch in Destin if that's where you want to fish. Good luck at Navarre and I hope you get on 'em. If you have any other questions let me know.

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      These reefs are about 1.25 miles from the beach and furthest is under 2 miles. We're lucky to have such a good close offshore fishery for kayak anglers.

  • @KpAtch3s

    Hey, not directly related to this video, but when you fish midbay bridge where do you launch? Closest place I can find is 5 miles out.

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Closest place is white point on the north side of the bay. It’s right next to the Maxwell Gunter Campground which is pretty much next to the bridge. White point is Eglin Air Force Base property so you will need an Eglin recreation pass which you can get online on the Eglin isportsman page.

    • @KpAtch3s
      @KpAtch3s 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oafishing Thanks! I looked at their website, said you needed to be military at white point.

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KpAtch3s that should be incorrect. Recreation passes and that area should be open to the public. I’d say call Jackson Guard to clarify, their office is in Niceville and they manage Eglin property when it comes to fishing, hunting, camping and recreation.

    How far back and deep are you trolling?

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually troll 50-70 yards back and either 5-7 ft, 13-15 ft, or 20-25 ft depending on the type of lure. The Spanish Mack hit on a Rapala Xrap that dives 5-7 ft. I also caught a Bonita that didn’t make it on video on a yozuri deep diver that dives 13 ft.

      I moved here for work and love to fish in free time. I have a normal pedal kayak but to go hit those reefs like you I'd have to get a pedal kayak preferably right? If so any brand recommendations? Looking to spend under 1200

    • @oafishing
      @oafishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RR-cv9tn You don't need a pedal kayak but it sure does make a huge difference and gives you an advantage. I started with a paddle kayak and eventually upgraded. Your kayak just needs to be stable and know your limitations. Under $1200 will be tough to find. My recommendations are Hobie or Old Town. I just haven't done enough research on other brands.
