    • @VitaminDeeTV
      @VitaminDeeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Red snapper are really strong fish. They have really pointy fins that will poke you, and really sharp gill plates that will cut you. I get cut and poked everytime I catch them. This is a good practice to keep your hands safe from all of their sharp and pokey areas. 🤙

    What kind of kayak are you using? I’ve got a 12 footer hoodoo tempest and I’m wondering if it will be stable enough for off shore? Is there any good advice on when to offshore and when to not offshore like under what weather conditions and such?

    • @VitaminDeeTV
      @VitaminDeeTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a Hobie Pro Angler 14. It’s a huge kayak and is very stable. Which is why you see me standing up more than my buddies. They were having trouble standing until it completely laid down out there.
      The best conditions is when you know it’s going to be flat seas. For example: That day was 1-2ft seas or less with a north wind. The north wind against Pensacola beach really causes the waves to lay down flat.
      I would be very careful kayaking offshore. Make sure you have all safety gear, and NEVER go offshore alone. We lose several kayakers yearly due to them being negligent and going out alone. Literally lose them. As in they are seen leaving but they never return. Usually the kayak or tackle is found but not the kayaker.
      But if you are safe about it, it can be a good time.

    • @brianslack7111
      @brianslack7111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VitaminDeeTV I appreciate the information. I’m assuming the kayak gets flipped and they get eaten by a shark or something..?
      So I guess I need to check the weather channel and look for easy north winds? I’m from the mountains and the ocean is completely new to me. I want to learn, but it definitely seems like there are a ton of things to consider. I wish there was a website or something that showed when it was safe to go out on a kayak lol.

    • @VitaminDeeTV
      @VitaminDeeTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brianslack7111 You want to download weather apps and offshore sea report apps that will give you a forecast of what conditions will be before heading out and coming back in time before things pick up.
      As for the guys that get lost at sea, they go out without their safety gear. They don’t know how to get back in their kayak if it flips over. They get tangled in their equipment and drown. So many things can happen out there. That’s why you have to be safe and go out with a party. Never by yourself. They drown and possibly get eaten by sharks and other sea life.

    • @brianslack7111
      @brianslack7111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VitaminDeeTV thanks for the responses man. I think we will probably fish in the bay for awhile first and maybe hit up some bridges before we venture out into the offshore stuff. I downloaded predictwind offshore weather and I’ll check it out. Thanks for the help! I think I may try and hit up some peers before my kayaks get in.

  • @jacoblawton8241

    Why do you release the fish by grasping their eye balls?🤔 Wouldn’t that disorientate the fish upon release😔

    What rod and real combo do you use and line?

    • @VitaminDeeTV
      @VitaminDeeTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I’m bottom fishing in 80-300ft I use my Penn Squall 50LD. I spool it with 60lb mono and typically use a leader of 50lb fluorocarbon or heavier. Depending on what I’m fishing for.
