In a Veyron if you want to go fast you turn a key, empty the ashtray and switch the air conditioning and stereo off for a couple of minutes. No flameproof suit and helmet, no roll cage. There is a big difference between being the fastest car you can legally drive on a public road and being the fastest production car that somebody would actually enjoy owning and driving. In a Veyron you could take it to 250 MPH and drive for hours at 150 MPH and not need to rebuild the engine and replace all the tyres the next day.

To do that it must pass emissions tests, safety inspections, conform to certain rules about the minimum height of certain lights (for example) - some older Ford GT models weren't street legal because the lights were too low. When you factor in all those regulations it must adhere, it is very impressive to achieve those kinds of speeds. The fact they're not selling units makes it more impressive because their budget would be significantly lower than, say, Bugatti who can recoup their expenses by charging $2M or more per unit sold.

Veyron is (not sure still is) the fastest "production" car. You can theoretically upgrade even a FIAT Punto to go faster than Veyron however, that is not the point.
The Hennessy Viper is faster. The Shelby superaero was also faster according to Guinness rules, but Guinness specifically changed the rules for Bugatti.

Not only does the Veyron have reliability to work for hundreds of thousands of kilometers, its also luxurious, extremely comfortable, refined, safe, easy to live with, its the best of the best from supercars and luxury cars combined into one package, that nobody else managed to achieve....simply about 50 years ahead of this Ford in terms of engineering and about 15 years ahead of any other current supercar, especially that tuned up Lotus that will last for 5000 miles before it needs a new engine. Two: The world record edition of the Veyron SS isn't commercially available enough with only five in existence. No faster production car has built enough of their cars to fit Guinness' guidelines which is 50 vehicles. There are only 29 Venom GTs, 14 Koenigsegg CCXs, and only 24 Ultimate Aero TTs. The Agera R is rather new and only a few of them exist. There are 106 McLaren F1s in the world in case you are wondering. So until one of those manufacturers ups the number of vehicles they produced to at least 50. I only acknowledge the McLaren F1 as the world's fastest production car under ALL of Guinness's rules and regulations. Guinness has made exceptions in recent years, but they shouldn't. I don't consider this above the Veyron. It's been heavily modified. Almost anything can beat a Veyron after it's been tweaked to 1,000 HP+ (Alpha GTR's, UGR's). But straight out of the factory, a Veyron will slaughter this Ford GT for bacon.

One could argue the words production car. In essence it means that it is possible to be built and assembled in house, that the factory is equipped with the parts and machines to assemble it. But most people would believe it can be massed produced at a high rate when one uses the words production car. It cannot. Lets look at the facts. 1 week per engine, 150 hours per radiator,90 hours of labor per framex2 (front and rear),3 days for the fuel tank,1 hour per handmade tire, the car is assembled by hand, 4 or 5 weeks total to build from start to finish.
SSC is a car in concept only. You cannot drive it anywhere, it will not go around corners, it cannot be parallel parked and it wont fit into a normal garage. The Bad GT is street legal, can be parked like any other car and it fits into any garage or carport. Foul comparison.

The Badd GT goes from 0-283mph before the Veyron reaches 200mph in just a mile. The GT still has AC, stereo and all its creature comforts and doesn't need a special track to obtain its actual top speed. The Veyron was an all hype car. VW spent millions and millions to reach 260's. The Venom GT and Badd GT crushed that for a fraction of the cost without needing special tracks to achieve their speeds. The Venom is a moded Lotus and is considered a production car. The Badd GT is no different. Fastest is fastest, period.

All of these people saying stuff about the Veyron. Bugatti didn't even try. They just went balls out and out the biggest engine that they could fit in the car. Any company could do exactly what they did, but they would also have to charge 4 million. Cars that "compete" with the Bugatti are engineered to be fast, quick, and light; Not, luxurious, "slow", and balls to the wall expensive. What makes this car cool is, they went faster than any car in a standing mile, and they didn't have to create a new concept engine, they proved that you can go fast with tried and true technology, and you don't need to spend millions to get there.
Without a doubt, the ability to engineer a fat, FAT motor onto a stiff chassis and transmit power to wheels is always impressive. But the Veyron's stature is about doing all that with style, comfort and the grace of a luxury automobile, not just noisy brute force. It's not a hard concept to grasp.

What does road homologation have to do with anything? Its a car, its faster than the Bugatti Veyron verified by Guinness. Also, at no point did anyone say this wasn't a street legal car. From what I can see its a Ford GT with alot of mods. It still has a license plate, indicators, safety equipment, etc. It's just not a factory produced car like the Veyron or F1.

Its rather loosely a street car. OK its street legal but its race/high-performance spec. The record could have been set by a thousand people over the years as there are quite a few people with street legal high end tuned machines with over 1000whp, and even over 2000. Andy Sny Isn't Venom GT is registrated as Lotus, with custom engine? I mean if its like that, then that makes it a modified car. But i dont know if Henessey actually remakes the whole chassis, not using the parts from Lotus. It they remake, then yes it is the fastest production car.
For all the trash talking about this car, consider 2 things: 1) how long does the Bugatti take to reach its top speed? A speed that is much slower than this car's standing mike speed. 2) the old record for the standing mile was 60 MPH slower the year before! That is an insane leap in terminal velocity, and 283 in a mile means that this car is capable of much faster speeds overall. It isn't done when it hits 283, it's just what it did this time around in a given distance. There's plenty more top speed available, unlike the Veyron which is already near the limit of its engineering. Don't take this as a knock on the Bugatti, either. It's meant to draw attention to what PPR has done with a smaller engine and fewer turbos, along with RWD, in 'old' technology.

In a Veyron if you want to go fast you turn a key, empty the ashtray and switch the air conditioning and stereo off for a couple of minutes. No flameproof suit and helmet, no roll cage. There is a big difference between being the fastest car you can legally drive on a public road and being the fastest production car that somebody would actually enjoy owning and driving. In a Veyron you could take it to 250 MPH and drive for hours at 150 MPH and not need to rebuild the engine and replace all the tyres the next day.
Actually at top speed the tyres on a Veyron only last 15 minutes.

BigSmartArmed It is legal to drive on public roads. It is registered and licensed and insured. To do that it must pass emissions tests, safety inspections, conform to certain rules about the minimum height of certain lights (for example) - some older Ford GT models weren't street legal because the lights were too low. When you factor in all those regulations it must adhere, it is very impressive to achieve those kinds of speeds. The fact they're not selling units makes it more impressive because their budget would be significantly lower than, say, Bugatti who can recoup their expenses by charging $2M or more per unit sold.

So until one of those manufacturers ups the number of vehicles they produced to at least 50. I only acknowledge the McLaren F1 as the world's fastest production car under ALL of Guinness's rules and regulations. Guinness has made exceptions in recent years, but they shouldn't. It isn't fair to other more deserving manufacturers. If you can make five cars with a top speed of 270mph, then let's call that the world's fastest production car :p

One could argue the words production car. In essence it means that it is possible to be built and assembled in house, that the factory is equipped with the parts and machines to assemble it. But most people would believe it can be massed produced at a high rate when one uses the words production car. It cannot. Lets look at the facts. 1 week per engine, 150 hours per radiator,90 hours of labor per framex2 (front and rear),3 days for the fuel tank,1 hour per handmade tire, the car is assembled by hand, 4 or 5 weeks total to build from start to finish.

SSC is a car in concept only. You cannot drive it anywhere, it will not go around corners, it cannot be parallel parked and it wont fit into a normal garage. The Bad GT is street legal, can be parked like any other car and it fits into any garage or carport. Foul comparison.

The Badd GT goes from 0-283mph before the Veyron reaches 200mph in just a mile. The GT still has AC, stereo and all its creature comforts and doesn't need a special track to obtain its actual top speed. The Veyron was an all hype car. VW spent millions and millions to reach 260's. The Venom GT and Badd GT crushed that for a fraction of the cost without needing special tracks to achieve their speeds. The Venom is a moded Lotus and is considered a production car. The Badd GT is no different. Fastest is fastest, period.

All of these people saying stuff about the Veyron. Bugatti didn't even try. They just went balls out and out the biggest engine that they could fit in the car. Any company could do exactly what they did, but they would also have to charge 4 million. Cars that "compete" with the Bugatti are engineered to be fast, quick, and light; Not, luxurious, "slow", and balls to the wall expensive. What makes this car cool is, they went faster than any car in a standing mile, and they didn't have to create a new concept engine, they proved that you can go fast with tried and true technology, and you don't need to spend millions to get there.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that this is the fastest production car in the world, and that the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is not a production car?! A production car is one that is mass produced; it has been replicated off of a production line. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is one of those cars. As the Hennessey Venom GT is also. So the fastest production car in the World is the Hennessey Venom GT!
This Ford GT is a one off custom built car, it is therefore not a production car. It probably isn't even street legal. Therefore it is not the fastest production car in the world! It mabey the fastest tuned car in the world however!

What does road homologation have to do with anything? Its a car, its faster than the Bugatti Veyron verified by Guinness. Also, at no point did anyone say this wasn't a street legal car. From what I can see its a Ford GT with alot of mods. It still has a license plate, indicators, safety equipment, etc. It's just not a factory produced car like the Veyron or F1.

For all the trash talking about this car, consider 2 things:
1) how long does the Bugatti take to reach its top speed? A speed that is much slower than this car's standing mike speed.
2) the old record for the standing mile was 60 MPH slower the year before! That is an insane leap in terminal velocity, and 283 in a mile means that this car is capable of much faster speeds overall. It isn't done when it hits 283, it's just what it did this time around in a given distance.
There's plenty more top speed available, unlike the Veyron which is already near the limit of its engineering. Don't take this as a knock on the Bugatti, either. It's meant to draw attention to what PPR has done with a smaller engine and fewer turbos, along with RWD, in 'old' technology.

I am not taking any thing away from the veyron but this STREET car is faster then the Veyron in a standing mile.
