    Thank You for making this video sir. I did not even know any such ammo existed. Nice 10/22 stock too. Don't worry about apologizing for noise in your videos. Anybody that watches a video shot on a range used by multiple people should understand. I think your videos have very good content man.

      It's just a lot of people are probably trying to hear how loud they are, or aren't, which doesn't exactly coincide with other shots going off at the same time. When I make my all .22 quiet rounds comparo video that I've been wanting to do (Colibri's, CB's, Shorts, Longs, Quiets), it's going to have to be somewhere else. Might be good to test them in the woods anyway, away from everyone, like a real hunting enviroment. But thanks for the comment and support man. And that's a factory 10/22 stock, but it was a dealer exclusive. I think it looks dope too lol, expecially with the silver scope. When I get those multiple 20moa bases off of there for shooting 400+ yards when I finish those videos up, it will look a lot sleeker.

      @@BuckeyeBallistics agreed, it was worth every cent to get it with the purple! Back when I bought mine (jeez, that must have been back in 2009...ish?) I got a silly good deal on it for $279.99 plus tax so about the same price. They had the purple/grey, a red/grey and a super sick looking green/gray. I regret selling that rifle so much, the 10/22 is such an awesome little rifle. It was my first gun I bought as an adult, intended to sink a lot of money into it buuuut then life happened lol. 11 years and many guns later, never added a "purple squirrel slayer" back into my collection.

      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Buffalo. Yeah I love the regular quiets, especially the segmented ones, but it always sucked having to manually cycle them lol. From the 18" barrel, they are righr between the regular quiets, and a subsonic as far as noise is concerned. I'm betting out of a longer barrel, they would be much quieter, closer to the original quiets. I would love to hear them out of a suppressed pistol, but I don't own one. I'm sure they would be dead silent then, and still cycle the action. If yah got one, you should try it!

    Just seeing this video now. I'm looking to move up from an air rifle in dealing with the squirrels in my pecan tree, but I live within the city limits. The nearest neighbors are flaming liberals, and on the other side of them are Canadian transplants (don't know their politics, but I do know they're not into guns).
    So I still need my firearm/ammo to be quiet. I've been considering using quiet ammo through a 10/22 carbine (no threaded barrel or can). I didn't know CCI made a semi-auto version of the Quiet-22. This could be just the ticket. Thanks!

      @@Mihogan differently than imagined, but in the same vein. I use the standard Quiet-22s in a Henry lever action that cycles S/L/LR just fine. In addition to the Quiets, I sometimes use CCI's CB 22 Long, LRN 29gr, also rated 710 fps. However, because of the lighter projectile, the CB Longs don't have quite power of the Quiet-22s, which can penetrate a 1x4 at 10 yards.

    The first rounds I thought they weren't firing. Heard nothing. The second round the semis were a tad louder but quieter than a suppressed round. Wonder how they would do in like a Taurus TX 22 pistol.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried them in my TX22 after the barrel was messed up (if you saw the review video), and they worked 95% of the time. I just didn't put that in this video because I didn't want to listen to everyone telling me I'm a retard or this and that for continuing to use a damaged firearm (replacement barrel is on the way, also priviledged info). So anyway, not sure if the 5% failure rate was due to the barrel, the 20° weather the day I tried it, or the fact that it isn't even broken in yet. Hopefully you'll apreciate this insight and not be one of the ones that would condemn me for shooting it a couple more times in it's current state...

    Pity nobody else there were shooting the CCI Quiet ammo. Not a plug for Ruger but, gotta say that my best performing rimfire rifle is my 10/22. Had it over forty years and never had a problem. About a million accessories available for it and it balances and handles well. With a quality scope it's a great small game gun. I see that the Quiets won't even flip targets. What is the muzzle energy and velocity from the 20" Ruger barrel??

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No .22 rounds flip those targets over. I have to hit them 2 or 3 times in a row very fast to knock them over. A lot of times the .380 won't knock them over either, not enough energy. And the barrel on my 10/22 is 18.5", which is the standard barrel length these days (not sure about your golden oldie one). And I don't know, I'll have to do a chrono video with it this year.

      Marty Jewell Assuming the full (or close to it) velocity is achieved, with the velocity of 830(ish), and the grains of 45.

    My Sig 522 cycles all ammo including the old CCI Quiets. Reliably

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regular quiets? Then it has a weak recoil spring. If it cycles rounds that underpowered reliably, then the high and hyper velocity stuff will beat it up, slamming the bolt back hard as hell with each shot, which will accelerate wear and may eventually lead to broken parts. I would only shoot light loads out of it if that's the case. Otherwise, I would replace or upgrade the recoil spring for high velocity ammo usage. Just my opinion though...

    • @b12y5e
      @b12y5e 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuckeyeBallistics nope sorry. Its truth, this rifle eats everything and there are already tons of videos of people showing this. I doubt every owner of a sig 522 has a weak recoil spring from factory?? Its just that good, and uses BlackDog mags. Enough said. But thanks for your vids, I just subd. Take care

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the sub. I wasn't saying it was a weak spring from the factory like it was defective or anything, just that it's a weaker spring than others. Yes, I'm sure it will eat anything, due to the spring. If it feeds quiets, of course it will feed anything else. But with that soft of a spring, shooting the higher velocity ammo will wear it out faster. The more power a round has, the harder it slams the action back, metal smacking metal. The recoil spring helps combat that. Have you ever heard of +p ammunition for pistols like 9mm & .45? (It's more powerful) They recommend you only shoot +p occasionally or otherwise upgrade your recoil spring to a stiffer one for longevity of the weapon. That's all I was trying to say. By all means run whatever you wish through it. It could probably handle 10,000 rounds of the highest velocity stuff without any issues. However eventually it would meet it's demise. Lighter loads will extend it's life span though. Anyway, just clarifying what I was trying to say, no other intent meant or implied. Thanks again for subscribing.

I'm not encouraging you to do anything illegal because I'm not sure why you're so concerned with the neighbors, but that's my take on it all. I have shot cb shorts out of rifles numerous times (and they are quieter), and then I tried them in a pistol once and they were still quite loud, loud enough to require hearing protection. that scope mount is horrible, why go to a full blown range and try and test quite...wow.... good call

      I explained the scope mount. Ever try to shoot a .22 500 yards? No? That's what I thought. That's what is necessary to do such. And yes, sorry that's the only place I have to shoot. So unless you have some quiet property you would like to donate, I don't really have an option. I think you should take your BS and your attitude elsewhere.
