  • @ORLOSTguy

Seeing the realization that a song from 1982 was sampled is crazy. Man, the music from the late 60's to the early 90's is some of the most creative, ORIGINAL and enjoyable ever. People played their instruments and didn't worry about if they had a pretty face, branding or dancers.
The band playing behind brother Michael were crazy good session men. Jeff Porcaro on Drums (Toto), Louis Johnson on Bass (Brothers Johnson), Steve Lukather on Guitar (Toto), Greg Phillinganes on keyboards (Michael Jackson, Toto, etc...), Michael's sister Maureen McDonald provided background vocals.
May the music never be forgotten.

It's amazing how many rap songs have sampled beats from 60's, 70's and 80's songs. And it's more amazing that young people don't realize it. We did when I was growing up and we didn't have just about every song ever in the palm of our hands.

@@davidchastang3895 Great point on having every song ever in the palm of our hand. If you'd told me even in the 70's or 80's that in the future, I would be able to have access to any music I wanted either through my computer or my phone I would have thought you were nuts. Although I would have probably said it would be cool though. And it is.

In 1982, Greg Phillinganes also played with Lionel Richie.
Steve Lukather played guitar here. In addition to MM, Steve Lukather played guitar in the studio for his band Toto, Chicago and Michael Jackson (Thriller). Steve Lukather, being in his band Toto, worked like a dog in 1982! LOL
Suggested next video: Michael McDonald and Patti Labelle sing On My Own. RIP Jeff Porcaro.

I’ve been watching your recent vids & didn’t know you reacted to Michael. He was my fav in the 80’s. I’m glad you like him he sang & wrote for the dooby brothers first. I grove to him all the time and was heart broken that the renegades took from his original & the new generations don’t know how good the original was. Excellent! Love your reaction. 🫶🏻

I have the original album in my home office. It is one of the earlier pop-smooth jazz tunes that is timeless and fantastic. The one that preceded this is “What you won’t do for love” by Bobby Caldwell which is one of the finest songs ever made from 1978

Bugs me how so many people my age and older whine about "today's" music, when they only scratch the surface of the weak pop on the radio or what their kids or grandkids play. There's a world full of good modern music on the internet that gets no popular notice, because people can't pull themselves off the teat of top 40 radio or whatever watered down tripe record companies churn out. Most good musicians self-publish now online.
