    Today we’ll be working with a quarter-circle skirt. It’s a very simple design.
    Today we’ll make a quarter-circle skirt, and then we’ll talk about the circle one.
    I’ll make a skirt for a dummy. Its waist is 76 cm.
    I show you very simple techniques. It will take half an hour to make such a skirt.
    Some designs seem complicated, but actually, they are not.
    All the people are different, so I can’t give any general recommendations about the sizes.
    The longer you want the skirt to be, the bigger piece of fabric you need.
    Good luck in pattern drawing and sewing.
    Such a skirt can serve as a basis for many interesting designs.

      May I ask how long did you take to finish the skirt? I'm not good at making garments, I'm a bit hesitant whether I should try making this....

    If doing a higher skirt, like on empire waist dress, can you follow same technique just use the higher waist circumference?

      Hello! If you want to make a skirt with an elastic band, then when calculating the radius, use the hip circumference measure, instead of the waist circumference

    Amazing video! Thank you very much!
    May I ask something? This way of making a skirt does not work well if you are chubby waist down, right?

    • @musicandbooklover-p2o
      @musicandbooklover-p2o 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just measure down to the chubiest part, be it stomach or hips or thighs, from your waist then measure down on a paper pattern to ensure that the flare is enough to glide over the largest area. If it isn't then increase the waist slightly until it glides over the offending part. Which is what I have to do. Then some people part elasticate the waist, gather it very slightly into the waist band, or add a box pleat at the front or back to take in the extra fabric. I usually pleat it in at the back by hand, either side of the zip, to keep the excess fullness to the rear. You really do need to make a short paper pattern first, mine is about 30cm long, just to cover my stomach and hips which are my problem areas. You might also need to do this if making a half circle skirt though I have found that these tend to make the problem areas stand out more. I am going to try this quarter circle pattern instead, I think it will glide better over the areas I don't want to emphasise while still having a full enough hem, as it will be a maxi skirt.
      Have fun making it, if in doubt use cheap cotton or an old sheet because you can always use it to line your new skirt in more expensive fabric afterwards, it will make the skirt hang better.

      Hello. Cotton fabric was used for this project but you can use any non- stretchy fabric fur this skirt.
