This was not an off season for man city. since pep got there, they have received a free 6/6 points in the 2 arsenal fixtures every season. literally. If they had gotten their usual 6/6 points this season, they would be on pace for 96 points. What people forget about “the bar being raised” is that the elite clubs have a better hand to play than ever before. Aside from the fact their revenues and spending power is higher than it’s ever been, both absolutely and relatively to everyone else in England and Europe, they also have better sports science, nutrition, data analytics, scouting etc than ever before.
So yes, it takes more to win than ever before, but they are better equipped than they have ever been. It’s all relative.
This Dosent counter the fact that the premier league as a product suffers due to one team domination. We already saw this happen in Italy Germany France and la liga (which is a two team league) and how it hurt the leagues overall viability.

He's had some successful signings, but let's not act as if he's doing a Wenger in 1998 or Jose Mourinho at Chelsea the first time around.

Tbf last season we won the league with 2 games to go and pep put weaker teams after that.
Even when Liverpool were 5 points clear at the start of April they were still everyone’s favourites. I agree everyone’s just salty even as an LFC fan, but it’s not fair to say everyone writes them off because they don’t. They fail to punish city for their rules violations and have literally pulled up the ladder for every other club. The league desperately needs to address this. Either they need to punish city for their rules violations, or abolish any form of ffp. That way, clubs can try to emulate the likes of City and Chelsea.

Compared to them - when these teams play Liverpool, United, Arsenal or Chelsea - some of the players from clubs like Burnley or Fulham run so hard and fast for nothing 50/50 balls, i'm suprised their legs don't explode and their kidneys fail after the match - against City they just go "herberder" through the game and walk around
