thank you so much for making this video, i’m currently trying to figure out if binghamton is the right school for me which is difficult without accepted students days so this video really helped!! i was accepted into harpur and was thinking about majoring in psychology but now i’m not so sure..do you know if a BA psychology degree is also researched based like neuroscience?
Glad this video could help! There definitely is a research component of the psychology BA, here's a link to the required class page: www.binghamton.edu/psychology/undergraduate/psychology-ba.html If you want, you can shoot me a message on instagram @therealjamieg and I can try to connect you with a friend that's a psych major!
In the long term , it matters not which school you attend...it's up to the student to prevail, do the hard work and make connections with the outside world so as to be prepared for career opportunities. Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester, Oswego, Cortlandt, Stony Brook, etc etc what does it matter? Nada!
Thanks. BU was one of my safety schools, and I always wondered what it would have been like if I went there. What percentage of the student population is annoying?
I got the same teddy bear for my girlfriend in white, but the very large size. I'm from Long Island and chose University of Miami over Bing and Fordham. When i visit my friends at Bing, we have a blast. It's such an amazing school. The buildings are so modern. Only problems is the weather, crime, sketchy city, and paying for a gym membership. The food is good as well! (Freshman year at the Rat lmao)
Thank you so much, I am debating on attending Bing but its a tough choice to pick a school. By any chance do you know anything about their environmental studies and science classes
Hi, can you tell me how the process was of making a schedule? Did they help you at all? and what classes can you or have to take freshmen year at binghamton?
Hi! I can really only speak from my experience in Harpur College. At orientation, your orientation advisor as well as the advising staff can help you pick out classes. What is great is that you can start taking classes right away for your major. So my freshman year (I was a neuroscience major) I took a combination of both general education requirements and science classes. Do you know what your school/major is? I can try to get you more specific answers!
So we are classified as a state college meaning if you are a New York resident for at least a year you pay 26k because we do get federal and state funding. But I do not believe International or students from other states pay 26k . On our website, International and Out of State Residents actually pay close to 44k to 45k. The reason being is that they do not pay taxes so the state and university are trying to make up what they would have paid in taxes if they were In-State Residents. This is what I learned in my financial literacy class hope it helps.
Loved how informative the video was. Do you know anything about the scholars program? And what would you honestly say is the biggest pro and con of Binghamton?
Hey! I have tons of friends in scholars, if you shoot me a message on instagram @therealjamieg, i can connect you! the pros and cons are definitely specific as to who you are. for me a major con is that there's no PR major and you can't take business classes if you're not in the school of management. however, a pro for me is all the internship experiences I've been able to have on campus!
Hai i got accepted for masters in industrial engineering at binghamton University for fall 2021 , but I haven't received my i20 yet do i need to pay money inorder to get i20 ,waiting for the response
Thank you so much for your video. It's great! I am considering to major Neuroscience this coming year, and may I ask how it was and why you changed it? Please let me know! Thanks!
Of course! So I touched upon it briefly but the intro chem classes and intro bio classes are what I would consider weed-out classes. They're very difficult and the point is to weed students off the pre-med track and into the research track to make Binghamton a more well-renowned research institute. For me, I wanted to be pre-med but it wasn't sustainable for me to be attending tutoring so frequently and still not getting the grades I wanted. So it was a personal choice for me to focus my passions into something else I could accomplish and that's why I am now an english major. However, if you have the drive and the passion to excel in neuroscience, I think you can do it. You just have to utilize your resources (study groups, office hours, tutoring) and you can 100% succeed.
@@JamieGoerke Just read this! Thank you so much for your kind response! When did you get to take those major-related classes? I heard Freshmen and Sophomore students aren't necessarily taking major classes as they don't decide their major by then. Also, are bio classes difficult because they make students take exams frequently or write research papers/project? Thank you again!
@@leeyoon3002 At Binghamton, you start taking major classes right away! Hey, I got admitted to Harpur as undecided! Is there a specific amount of time I have before having to declare a major? Also what's the experience like as an undecided student?
Hi! So many students come in undecided so it’s nothing new, I believe you have to declare a Major by the end of your sophomore year but I could be wrong about that one. As an undecided major, it’s recommended that you take Gen Ed classes to start working on your degree and you can take intro classes in whatever areas you are interested in. An advisor can help you figure this out at orientation. Being undecided shouldn’t be a concern because so many people change their majors anyway, so most everyone is undecided at some point. Does this help?
Hello, I just got waitlisted at Binghamton as a CS major in Watson. I’m planning to write a loci, is there anything else I can do to show that I have the utmost interest in attending?
Hi! So I am not an admissions counselor and therefore can't give the best advice here. However, I would assume talking to your specific admissions counselor would help, and you can find that person here: www.binghamton.edu/admissions/contact/counselor.html. Again, I am not a counselor and therefore not sure what they look for, but I hope the best for you!
@@JamieGoerke okay also for the admission initial deposit to accept the offer, I have to pay like$350.is that the original price or am I just paying extra?
can you choose which room you want to stay in? for example if you want to reside in a suite can you get a say in which suite it is and how many roommates you have?
Yes! When you sign up for housing, you are given a time slot in which you go onto the housing portal and pick where you want to live. This is first come-first serve. So, you can go on and pick a suite in any community but you will be limited to what is open when your time slot happens. Does this help?
Hendrix Cru it’s definitely an option but given that it’s a popular choice for current students who have already done housing, there might not be a lot of them left.
Noah Kashman honestly it all depends! Every major has different requirements of what you need to take. I’m an English major which is only 10 classes plus general education requirements. I came in with 12 credits (2 APs and a college class) and took a few summer and winter classes to get to how I’m graduating. But I also switched my major so a lot of my freshman year classes didn’t help me. So it all depends, however if you want to graduate in 3 years an advisor can definitely help you map that out!
Hey so I got into Eop at Bing, and was admitted to Harpur. With that being said, I’m most interested in the school of management and was a wondering if I could possibly switch over in due time and how that would look.
Hi! So I was not in EOP and therefore don't know a lot about the program. I assume you could still submit an Intra-university transfer to switch schools. However I would talk to an EOP advisor to first confirm this is possible, and second to put you on the best track to transfer in.
