Thanks! I went to Binghamton between 1986 and 1993 for undergrad and grad school. It’s a bit sad to see how much has changed (I lived in the old Johnson Hall in the old Dickinson, which you walked through on the way to the new Newing and Dickinson), but I have to admit it’s a LOT nicer-looking now. Anyway, I’m in bed with a virus, so this video made me very nostalgic and happy. Thank you!
You’re very welcome!! Hope you feel better soon. The campus is definitely a lot nicer even since I graduated in 2011. Thank you so much for the super thanks!
Proud 1985 graduate here, when we were the Colonials, I gave been an attorney in Florida since 1989. I lived in CIW, Onondaga and Oneida Halls, worked at Hinman College Dining Hall when there were ramps and a huge court yard in the center of the woods, and, I see why the school has deservedly attained such a prestigious reputation as a public Ivy. When I was there, most everyone was planning medical, legal, or Computer Science careers, and, Binghamton was the serious place to do that. The area across the street used to be just a leadup to the library and there were no dorms there and all the international and eccentric students lived at Dickinson Hall. It is a great school and anyone who goes there will also be a proud graduate. BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY HERE FOR US YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is mind-boggling for me. My Dad taught at Harpur from 1950 until his death in 1957. The campus I remember was in Endicott! We used to picnic on the vacant site when construction was first beginning. I grew up in Binghamton from 1953-1963. I have always been grateful for having experienced my youth there. Thanks for posting these videos. I'm a big fan!
Binghamton alumni here! Thank you so much for posting this video. I am planning a trip back to visit Binghamton soon, so many memories. Love to see it grow and improve; such a pretty school and surrounding hills/area. Nature preserve will be my first stop back; so special to have that on campus.
When I went to school there in the late 80s, early 90s, the Susquehanna Room was there, I believe. That was one of three areas to get food in the Union (there was no New Union then). The other two were the Mini Mall and the Campus Pub.
This is a great toue! It's perfect for me because I'm an incoming freshman. I do wanna throw out that watching it was a little weird because the video was dark, but otherwise it's a better resource than what the official youtube channel provides.
Wow, I had no idea it was pronounced Ra-Fuse. I lived in Dickinson for 3 years from 1999-2001 and everybody pronounced it Ray-Fuse. Lol. Thanks for the video!
I enjoyed this video. I graduated in 2005 and the campus changed so much while I was there (Mohawk opened, "new" Union opened [apparently renovated], woods knocked down for Mountainview, the Events Center opened) and a lot of the areas which were new are lost to history. Dickinson was dumpy which was nice compared to Newing. It's a different campus now.
Some misinformaiton in this video. Students are not housed in Old Dickinson regardless of the housing shortage. Rafuse was gutted for offices. Taking out the walls between rooms so that now every 3 rooms is one large office. (This was back in 2012 or so.) And the Grad Community hasn't housed grad students in at least a decade. Probably more like 15 years. Not since it changed its named to the Susquehanna Community. Grad Students are 100% off campus only and the community is simply part of fixing that bed shortage for their undergrads.
Sorry for the somewhat dark video, I had a setting wrong somewhere.
It's Binghamton. It's always dark lol.
@@larenamccomas9517 this is also true

Thanks for showing some of the insides of these buildings. As an ex chef at one of the dining halls there, those were the only ones I went into.
My grandson is going to go there 🎉. I’m excited
Hope he has a great experience. Binghamton area is still one of the more affordable places in the state.
This is awesome! My daughter is a student there and this video somehow made me feel closer to her
Aww you are welcome! Sorry about the darkness on this one. Will re-record when the weather is better.
3:50 I've been inside that stadium for a family friend's graduation ceremony in summer of 2018.
This was so helpful, thank you!
You are welcome! Subscribe for more Binghamton area and beyond content!
When I was a student over 20 years ago, there was a dining hall in the old union that you can see at 14:55, does anyone remember the name of it?

I shot it on my GoPro so I’m still learning how to use all the settings on it… I thought it was a bit dark as well but it didn’t look that way in post
Which part of the video did you think was dark?

Great detailed video!
Thank you! I plan on re-recording one when the weather is nice… Maybe slightly shorter though. And hopefully not when it’s 100 out. Lol. Subscribe!

My bad, no misinformation intended…thanks for the updates.
Does college in the woods have elevators
Yes, and they were pretty reliable when I was there for the most part
That’s a good safety school.
Very informative video. Wish it wasn't so dark.
My apologies, I just switched to Final Cut Pro and I’m still learning haha
