I need more info I'm in Dallas Texas I am retired and I love this place Puerto Vallarta who can I talk to about renting an apartment for one year it's just myself I don't want nothing big
My wife and I have lived in Puerto Vallarta since April 2022. This is a good video and the prices have remained in the ballpark. We have found walking the neighborhoods and asking for rentals works well. Also look for Venta Signs on houses. Renting directly from the owner makes prices lower and are sometimes negotiable. We are just moving into a clean upstairs 2 BR 2BR (with hot water) completely furnished with A/C, Smart TV and Wi-Fi included 11,000 MEX per month in a nice convenient neighborhood. For those that want to attend Catholic Mass, there is an 10AM Sunday English-speaking service at the old Our Lady of Guadalupe Church downtown at Centro Plaza. Crime and Covid are low. Watch out for pickpockets (especially in supermarkets), friendly scammers and the always present beggars, It's amazing that you can ride one end of the town to the other for 10 MEX (have the correct change). Enjoy your visit!
Currently living in PV. This info is very accurate. I will add that residing 20 to 30 minutes away from The Malecon will reduce expenses by 25 to 40 percent. Your quality of life will not be diminished. 😎🍸
This is funny, I tried to live in Canada when I was younger, did not adapt and ended up returning to my beautiful country and now I finally appreciate it, with all the inperfections, Mexico is far from perfect!! But there are a LOT of reasons why is easier to be happy here!!! One is food!! LOL!!! Other is weather, one more is people, culture... but there are things that cannot be explained
@Esther "and now I finally appreciate it": your wording previous to this led me to think you mean Canada... but you mean, " and now I finally appreciate it (Mexico)", true? Gracias, and I'm thinking to move to PV...maybe we could have a chat over a cafe' con leche!
Hi Jim, This is exactly what people have been asking me about in the thousands of comments I received on the great video you did with me. It also helps the many naysayers that said my apartment was a one off, reasonable rents no longer exist, etc., etc., etc.! Beautifully filmed, edited and put together as always and I think I tie with Claudia as your #1 fan. I have met several people who made the move recently due to your videos and chose my lifestyle and all are very, very glad they did so. I think a video on the various type of residency and income requirements would be very helpful. While my budget is $1000 USD - I am a full time resident for 11 years, it is not my income as I would not have qualified for permanent residency. I also obtained working papers and a segment on this would be helpful too. I hope all of your videos inspire people to make the leap and move to amazing Mexico.
Hi Francine! I really enjoyed your episode. You are beautiful both inside and out and I love the sparkle in your eye and how happy you look. Many blessings to you 🙏🏼
Well done. No contest, the best production of this type I've seen. As someone who's been to PV a few times, but still has lots to learn, I loved this and think it is well-balanced and accurate. Congrats.
Fantastic !!! This was absolutely the best and most informative video on cost of living I’ve ever seen.. I’m 58 years old and just retired and I can teach English overseas.. I have experience and. TEFL certificate.. and hope I have find a 1 bedroom apartment or condo that’s close to everything Thank you again Blessings Greg
@@LivingOverseasTV a BIG thank you for what you're doing and sharing the wealth of information! I absolutely love Puerto Vallarta and Mexico in general, and I'm so looking forward to the day I can relocate there! I'm really looking forward to your PV neighborhood tour informational videos. While I love Zona Romantica, Centro and Cinco de Diciembre, I am open to exploring further out in PV if it's safe, and certainly to reduce costs even more. Again, thank you so much for this information!
Keep in mind that wages in Mexico are low - that's one of the reasons it's an inexpensive country to live in for people with a foreign income, but it also means you won't make a lot of money working here - and if you work inside the country (rather than remotely for a job in another country), it's MUCH more difficult to get legal residency, since the country doesn't have enough good jobs for Mexicans, and they are given priority. I live in Guadalajara, and almost half of the population here makes 350 USD or less, sometimes much less, PER MONTH. Better jobs, with higher wages, certainly exist, it's a modern country - but with that huge pool of underemployed people, companies have little incentive to pay good wages, so they don't. Almost everyone here is underpaid, including professionals. The work days are long, 10 hours a day is not unusual, and the work week is 6 days, not 5 days, although Saturday is a short day in most jobs. Americans working in Mexico for Mexican companies are usually shocked at the differences in pay and working conditions. All of that said, you may be able to work out all the logistics and live and work here. Good luck with it!
Hi there, I watched a lot of videos on Puerto Vallarta, here on TH-cam and I can honestly say this is one of the best I've seen yet, so I would just like to say, thank you so much, as I found this most informative... "a five star video."

You are dreaming too high. You don’t want to move into a country to work. You cannot work as an illegal. You need legal papers to be able to live in Mexico unless you want to live here as an illegal. Don’t ask questions to the illegals living in Mexico.

I was really impressed with this cost of living video. My wife and I have long considered relocating to Mexico from the US. Out of all the videos we’ve considered, this is the most comprehensive of all. Thank you very much!!
What an accurate and informative video! Thanks a lot to the author for sharing. I am a German living in London and the harsh winter will arrive soon. Now my mind is with Mexico. I am considering traveling there this or next winter. Such beautiful beaches, gorgeous mountains, views, nice people, and fresh fruit. What do you need more to be content? Often the simple things are the ones that make happy :)
Great video. I have approximately 3 years remaining of full time work and hopefully will be retiring & living out of the US. I visited several places in Mexico and love them all. Thx for the vid
DJRolo813, Thanks for watching and good luck with your future plans. Just wondering, what are your other favorite places? I will try to report on some other areas this winter.

I'm eager to leave the US and doing research to determine where I'll go. I never considered Mexico but this changed my mind. Thx for providing such great information.
Looking at retiring in one more year, already collecting a pension but still working a full time job waiting out covid to get my social security started. I live in Tucson Az right now, but looking at Prescott Az because of the lakes and Ecuador. But, just found these Puerto Vallarta youtube vids and it looks interesting, Mexico hadn't really interested me probably out of my own ignorance about what I thought it would be like. I really want to be around some water in my retirement and these video's are starting to make me re-think Mexico. Thanks
I have spent countless hours on viewing many youtube bloggers mexico lifestyles channels, and I can honestly say none of them compare to your channel. You provide a closer in depth view point that is often so required. I appreciate you. Thank you~
Thanks a million for such an illustrative and informative video, the info is EXACTLY what one needs when preparing to move down there! And yes, I personally would very much like to see a video about obtaining temporary and permanent residency for Canadians in MX.
This was a super helpful video - thank you! Olga's place is so unique and that rooftop is amazing. I'm not as young as I used to be and that hill and all the stairs would do me in.
jovicrazed, I'm glad you found the video helpful. Centro Vallarta does start getting steep about five blocks away from the beach. I'm working on a video about the neighborhoods and I think I will include information about good areas without hills.
Absolutely fantastic video Jim! You did it again, your accuracy & talents are amazing! Love the short clip with Nathan it, he was happy it turned out so well! Cant wait to share this and your others on the blog. Also happy to see people realizing there are tons of great deals on low cost apartments in mexico. Good job my friend!
Great video. I spent 8 days there a lil over a week ago and was not ready to go. I could really see myself living there for the 6 months out of the year. It’s a beautiful and very relaxed city and the people were super friendly. Can’t wait to go back next year. Only this time I will stay longer for sure
Thank for the info. With that amazing view for $500/month, makes me wanna move to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and make this a second home. Close Proximity to Las Vegas, my current residence. I might sell the house in Vegas and just come home to the U.S. once per year-during the summer month. I will never experience the cold winters months again.
I would like to see the residency video as well. For non- retirees too. :) I'd love to also see one video that shows the difference of a bunch of neighbourhoods. General age range/noise pollution/high-low tourist zone/available shopping and bar-restaurants/proximity to beach and mountains and hiking, as well as purchase and rental averages per area. So many people post to the FB groups, "where should I live" and the answers are always "well no one can know that but you" which is fair, but, people need a starting place. I am sure it would get alll the views. Thanks for the good quality videos!
T, Thanks for your recommendations. I've been working on a video about the neighborhoods for a while. It will still be a month or more before it's complete but you have some great ideas that I will include.

Wha you need to find out is if you can live in Mexico. You to the Mexican consulate and ask for information first. You should not ask questions to American or Canadians illegals
i just saw a vid the other day about pro's and cons of different areas to live, and it included nothing but pictures and talking, which does almost nothing. this video is outstanding!
Eric Marr...I really enjoy your video's. Just sold a medical company and am looking for places to stay for an extended stay and your insights and information makes it easy to look at trying PV. Thanks so much!
I would love more videos that speak about how to go about either moving or dipping your toes in Mexico living. COL compared to USA in all areas. This video was very informative and beautiful done. Just recently discovered your channel and love it. thanks!
We have been to PV many times (about 20+) & are now able to stay for several mths, but need something very affordable. Your video is a great help. Thank you!!!!
Love your videos, Jim. Many of the places that you visit, are places that we want to retire to. We have been to Puerto Vallarta and many of the other places that you feature. Keep up the great work!
I have a time share 10 min south of PV “Costa Sur”. Costa sur may not be the most modern studio apartments , but is the friendliest place I’ve ever been to! I’ve been going there for 15 years and plan to keep going as long as I can. PV is the safest place in Mexico!

Thanks so much for this video. Hoping to move to Puerto Vallarta within the next 2 years. Very helpful and loved that you were able to tour and give pricing on different homes. Would love for you to make the video about requirements for getting a visa.

What a wonderful informative video. Planning on moving to puerto Vallarta, so I’m glad I stumbled on this. Would like more info on the Versailles area neighborhood.
Perfectly informative and exemplary video on this subject. Because of it, Puerto Vallarta (and Mexico for that matter) are now on my radar. Additional information that would be helpful for me is availability of organic food and vegan restaurants. I did see one vegan cafe in this video, so I wonder if there are more?
planetsuzanna, you can find enough vegan friendly restaurants to get by without much problem. Also, if you find a restaurant you like in your neighborhood, they will likely be happy to prepare things the way you like. I brought coconut oil to a restaurant near me and they kept it there. Now they buy it and use it regularly for other customers also.
Yes please do a video on residency. Particularly, how many days you have to leave the country to start over for another 6 months, and how many times you can renew the temporary residency. Thanks.
There are two levels of legal residency, temporary (renewed yearly) and permanent. The 6 month period you're talking about is for tourists, it is illegal to do for very long. The Mexican government has been cracking down for several years on people who are illegal residents who just leave and return every 6 months on a tourist visa - they want you to get a temporary or permanent residency permit or leave the country entirely. To get legal residency, it's best to use a Mexican immigration lawyer to help you through the process. That's not very expensive, and it's much better than doing it on your own - you can try that, but seriously, it's not expensive to have a lawyer help.
Thank you for sharing those info with us. It will trully help me and my wife make decision...at least whit whom conntact for more details. Great video.
Loved your video, we travel from England to the Canary islands at Christmas, we will look at PV as an option for a longer stay, especially when we retire. Thanks from Yorkshire.
Thankyou for such a informative video. Could you do a updated video on attaining temporary and permanent residency. Mexico has changed its requirements lately. If possible could you do a video relating to the experiences of non Spanish speaking families with teenagers/young adults moving to Mexico would be also very much appreciated.
Very informative. Thanks. I would like to see a video on relocating to PV with pets. (eg.., transport from the airport with pets, how easy is it to find a rental that takes pets, temporary lodging that takes pets, and so on. )
Wow. This is probably the most thorough video I've seen about living abroad. I've seen what has to be almost 100s of videos on similar topics, and this is amazing. Thank you very much for making this beautiful vidoe.
OMIGOSH! You Look like a younger Tom Jones! After the "shock" of that, Thank youf or the in depth information. I am itching to leave the US and am undecided between Malaysia & South America, with a heavy focus on Mexico. GREAT INFO!
This is hillarious! I booked my stay in Puerto Vallarta last night and today I found this video by accident..... and I am staying in Guillermo's place!!!!!
thanks for excellent review (just watched similar one by Jordan from Tangerine). very nice open breezy? view from Olgas apartment & reasonable rent too (by Sydney standards). but that rooftop area was the clincher - so impressed me - depending on how much you get to use. such romantic evening dancing possibilities (a reality for some, a fantasy for others!) def suit the minimalist who likes to get out & about. Just not sure how a cooler climate person would handle the summer temperatures (no apartments aircon!), high humidity & the walk up. need to Uber up to apartment if no scooter. food looks really tasty & filling. would imagine restaurant prices are quite high in tourist season. i imagine any beachfront apartment prohibitively expensive or unavailable. otherwise live cheaper out of town along coast & tootle up on your scooter.
Makes me excited to think there's hope for us young seniors on fixed incomes and what a beautiful place. Love all the information you nailed this viddo!! Watching I noticed the pharmacy, can you buy antibiotics without doctors prescriptions? And those of us with arthritis and other painful ailments, do we need doctor prescriptions for pain meds like in the US? Also the food looks absolutely delicious!! I would never get tired of good authentic Mexican food!!! Great video...I'm just about a year late tuning in!! Keep them coming, please!!
As a Brit who hates the English winter this is incredibly appealing, warmer areas in Europe and Canaries are quite expensive, someone suggested Mexico, i can see why, incredible. Going to do further research on costs and visa requirements.
@@FatTonyTheSkipper i spent several winter months in Lanzarote a few years ago, beautiful weather, warm in the day, mid to high 70s cooler at night, but not cheap accomodation if renting
Great info, divided up by income levels. Thanks! A video about residency requirements would be really appreciated. I just retired and am planning on visiting soon to get an idea, maybe travel to different areas. Do restaurants offer vegetarian options? Thanks again!
Dave Mauk, Thanks! I will do a video about residency requirements in the future. Many restaurants can do vegetarian options when asked and some will have options on the menu. There are some vegetarian restaurants as well.

Go take a week vacation.
I am looking for a place to rent in 2024 January and February maybe March,I would like something on the main level,as I have a small dog.I’m coming up January 20 of 2023,I would love to meet up with someone to get a place for 2024.
Wha you need to find out is if you can live in Mexico. You to the Mexican consulate and ask for information first. You should not ask questions to American or Canadians illegals
@@lindakazsals8858 what are you referring to? We are legal Mexican residents and we own a home in Mexico. Not sure what your comment means.
Guillermo and Veronica have a great thing going on there. I would love to be a landlord like that in retirement :-)
New to the channel and P.V. is def on my bucket list. Hopefully I can visit in a few yrs and would love to sat with Guiermo
edgu71eg, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. If you meet Guiermo, tell him I said hi.
i just saw a vid the other day about pro's and cons of different areas to live, and it included nothing but pictures and talking, which does almost nothing.
this video is outstanding!
Check out a channel called Kinetic Kennons. They recently did a video on buying real estate here in three different areas of PV.
Hit like button before watching......😁 I love the apartments 11:26 and 15:22.....👍 Thanks for the long and informative video!
PAMELA ALSTON, Thanks!!!
Great informative video! Definitively interested in a video on residency.👍
Just recently discovered your channel and love it. thanks!
Most informative. Thank you! I am also interested in a video on immigrating to Mexico and the types of Visas.
Yes give us the next 2 videos. Thank you!
We have been to PV many times (about 20+) & are now able to stay for several mths, but need something very affordable. Your video is a great help. Thank you!!!!
Superb info. Detailed and honest reviews and examples. Wow.
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos, Jim. Many of the places that you visit, are places that we want to retire to.
We have been to Puerto Vallarta and many of the other places that you feature.
Keep up the great work!
Thomas Beard, Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
Great video. Good overview of costs to live in PV. Very affordable ,and this is expensive for Mexico.
I have a time share 10 min south of PV “Costa Sur”. Costa sur may not be the most modern studio apartments , but is the friendliest place I’ve ever been to! I’ve been going there for 15 years and plan to keep going as long as I can. PV is the safest place in Mexico!
What a beautiful place..I am considering staying there for the winter. Olga's tour..wow..she looks and talks much like Salma Hayek..
She looks Nothing like Selma Hayek! Selma is sooo much more prettier. She is pretty too, but waaaaay different from S. H.
@@ranakeen9884 I think shes does look like her..but sounds more like her..To each his own. But your wrong saying she looks nothing like her..Even Salma without make up looks Nothing like "her"..lol
Great video I love the idea of Mexico. A lot of my friends think of southeast Asia but it’s very difficult to get back to the states to do business. I was down there in the 1990s when I lived in Los Angeles. Now that I’m getting older I’d like to visit again
Great video again. Well balanced and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great informative and appealing video! Thank you! Can someone kindly share the links on FB mentioned to find apts? Thank you
Let’s have that residency video, if you’re offering!
Thanks so much for this video. Hoping to move to Puerto Vallarta within the next 2 years. Very helpful and loved that you were able to tour and give pricing on different homes. Would love for you to make the video about requirements for getting a visa.
Chanel Smith, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I will try to do a video about visas in the near future.
@@LivingOverseasTV No problem! Thank you for taking the time to make the content. I know it's time consuming. Lol. I really do appreciate it & I'll keep a lookout for the visa video :)
What a wonderful informative video. Planning on moving to puerto Vallarta, so I’m glad I stumbled on this. Would like more info on the Versailles area neighborhood.
Liz Rider, I'm working on a video about several of the popular neighborhoods including Versallies.
What a great show... I loved Olga's place too....
Very well done! I learned a great deal. Thank you for providing all of this information.
Thank you very much Jim for making your efforts to make such a good videos for us in Utube, I appreciate you.
Olga is living large for 500 a month rental. I love the roof top space
Olgas place rocked with the blue decor ...after 10 years going to California I'm interested and this video is truly a 10 out of 10
Thank you for sharing those info with us. It will trully help me and my wife make decision...at least whit whom conntact for more details. Great video.
Thanks, well done video and very informative.
Loved your video, we travel from England to the Canary islands at Christmas, we will look at PV as an option for a longer stay, especially when we retire. Thanks from Yorkshire.
Al, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm hoping to visit the Canary Islands in the future.
Please make a video about applying for residency. Thanks
Mexico keeps sounding better and better.
Very informative video !! I love Puerto Vallarta and I am planning to retire there when the time comes !!
Very helpful. Just starting my investigation and learning a lot!
Stephen Lyon, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Your videos are on point. Great work - My favorite videos for expats
I’m hoping to come to PV in November and go to language school for a few weeks. Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge you answered most of my questions. 👌🏼
Jerry Weinstein, Thanks for watching. What other questions do you have? I will try to answer them in future videos.
Thankyou for such a informative video. Could you do a updated video on attaining temporary and permanent residency. Mexico has changed its requirements lately.
If possible could
you do a video relating to the experiences of non Spanish speaking families with teenagers/young adults moving to Mexico would be also very much appreciated.
KKar, Those are great ideas. I will try to address those topics in the future.
Very informative. Thanks. I would like to see a video on relocating to PV with pets. (eg.., transport from the airport with pets, how easy is it to find a rental that takes pets, temporary lodging that takes pets, and so on. )
Best videos I've seen that you do you cover everything thoroughly
Wow. This is probably the most thorough video I've seen about living abroad. I've seen what has to be almost 100s of videos on similar topics, and this is amazing. Thank you very much for making this beautiful vidoe.
Excellent video. Informative. Not a bunch of fillers. Gave some real examples with real people. Solid info. Amazing the prices.
Say hi to Guillermo and Veronica for me!
@@LivingOverseasTV aight. I was wondering if I was going to meet you there too but I guess not.
Excellent presentations I really enjoyed your video, new sub for sure!
Awesome, thank you!
thanks for excellent review (just watched similar one by Jordan from Tangerine).
very nice open breezy? view from Olgas apartment & reasonable rent too (by Sydney standards). but that rooftop area was the clincher - so impressed me - depending on how much you get to use. such romantic evening dancing possibilities (a reality for some, a fantasy for others!)
def suit the minimalist who likes to get out & about.
Nice Pad, like your tour and that you mentioned the price point!
would never get tired of good authentic Mexican food!!! Great video...I'm just about a year late tuning in!! Keep them coming, please!!
Very informative, thank you for making this vid. I’ve learnt greatly from your excellent content, especially the different rental price ranges.
As a Brit who hates the English winter this is incredibly appealing, warmer areas in Europe and Canaries are quite expensive, someone suggested Mexico, i can see why, incredible. Going to do further research on costs and visa requirements.
Looking into where to go for the 2022 winter right now, Puerto Vallarta might be one. Was considering Tenerife/Canaries too though! You chose one?
@@FatTonyTheSkipper i spent several winter months in Lanzarote a few years ago, beautiful weather, warm in the day, mid to high 70s cooler at night, but not cheap accomodation if renting
Very good video. You got many of the points like the buses and stores to buy food and travel around. Life is good in PV.
Shawn Tolman, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Yes, life is good in Vallarta.
The GD decode made me smile. Congratulations. you two look really happy
I love this video. I would love information about becoming a permanent resident. I would love to retire there!!
Yes please Residency requirements!!
Very helpful and very interesting as well 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Great job ! Just what I wanted to hear !
This is such an amazing place and very affordable. Thanks for sharing.🌸🇵🇭🇦🇺
My pleasure 😊
I am just seeing this. I was in PV in January 2023 and I loved it. I would love to go back soon. I found the people to be so genuine and the food, omg. I love Olga's apartment, $500??? What a bargain.
Patti Abb, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I almost took over Olga's lease when she moved out. It is a great place. Prices have really skyrocketed this winter but there are always deals if you look around in person.
@@LivingOverseasTV Yes, Ken in my office has several right now around $500 a month and really nice places!
Please post a video about residency requirements.
