This woman blew me away. As a young white kid my first experience in a black home was at my best friends house and his mom was a lot like this lady. Honest, strong, fantastic cook but holy crap did you want to avoid pissing her off. I made sure all our toys were cleaned up and vegetables were eaten and homework was done cause if not you would get the lecture of a life time. But she was a very loving and wonderful lady. Very similar personality. She knew how to make any stranger feel welcomed and loved without sacrificing her strength and authority as a mother.

this is similar to my childhood experience with black moms - it's one of the reasons I have always said we need black women running the country. It sounds like such a stereotype, but there's a strength and kindness that seems unique to black women.
You don't interview Jenifer Lewis, you experience her because every interview is like a performance.

She is my personal hero. I have bipolar disorder and had shame and guilt upon my diagnosis. She has helped me slough the bad stigma that I, myself was perpetuating. Her transparency with her personal experience has given me a mentor I so needed.

L.A. Roberts yes she is and she keeps this same energy through the WHOLE THING 😂 I had to pause it several times because I was laughing so hard. There are moments that are very deep and sad too, it’s great.

That voice is amazing. Whether it be a whisper that comes from those gorgeous lips or a shout from her belly and through her powerful throat, she commands your attention. Great interview clip. My mother is a diagnosed bipolar and so is my biological aunt. I don’t know if I have it or just have learned behavioral patterns from them. I don’t struggle with drugs or mental health because I have chose to live a mundane life with very little stimulation. I think it is beautiful to be boisterous, and that is one trait I see in Mrs Lewis and in myself. She is an instant hero in my eyes. I never had a dream to keep me from being a coke head, but I sure knew, like Jenny here, that was not going to be how I treated my body- my temple. -Love From Colorado

I could listen to Jennifer talk all day! So emphatic and soulful, with amazing vocal rhythm, plus humor and grace. And per usual, Trevor is the quintessential interviewer ~ classy, authentically engaged in her words (like all of us), captivated by the glow of a divine presence. Love seeing such excellence!
Wow I always knew she was a good actress but I would have never known that she was rubbing elbows on one of the greatest stages with some of the best actors and actresses of all time🤯 and she is right I'm about that black people saying that going to therapy as a weakness but sometimes you need help me help when I drive you insane 💯
