- So this new Dreadnought most certainly Dreads Nought.
Forgot to show the officer skills, but it's
Combat Endurance-E
Impact Mitigation-E
Gunnery Implants
Ballistic Mastery
Ordinance Expertise-E
Polarized Armor-E
Slight update but my current build for it after some testing and feeling it out is
Weapons,:4 Mjolnirs in the hardpoints, 4 Mk 9s in the corner Turrets (ignoring center broadside turrets and missile hardpoints) 2 Xyphos
S-mods: Aux Thrusters, Blast doors, Reinfocred Bulkheads
Regular mod: Armored Weapon Mounts, Resistant Flux Conduits, Automated Repair Unit, Converted Hanger
rest is 45 Vents
>Vents in front of 3 hostile capitals
>nothing happens
Demon of Moloch
Ironically this ship is basically a super low tech super capital
*Ludd's blessing
Replacing shield with more armor works wonder.
hammer of Ludd
Artifically generated hands typed this post
This is what phase ships and Reaper Torpedoes were meant to kill.
try throwing a reaper at a 50k ton block of armor, it's not gonna work
Just throw more Reapers
Its very shrimple
@@snownukitro-AHaven't seen anything that more reapers doesn't solve
@@anhduc0913 i have found a lot of things that more reapers can't solve, tempests

when civilisation never fiured out shield tech so they spent all the effort making harder armour.
so… warhammer?
@@giperka 40k has shields.
The armor isn't even good, look at the ablative armor description. There's just a ton of it.
they use crew as armor
Armor is much cooler anyways. Nothing puts the fear of Ludd into your enemies like taking 4 reapers to chin and not even breaking the armor.
It's like an onslaught on steroids. Overwhelming frontal firepower, but all you need to do is get behind it and it can't do shit to you
Sounds like a good space station cracker.
It's a space station that decided it didn't like orbiting in one spot forever.
Thats what a firing line is for.
That paragon committed suicide venting when it did. Also, it feels so overpowered fighting other capitals like that.
Less suicide and more acceptance. The fight was long decided.
@@SanraiDalris with Tachyon Lances? Could possibly disable his main weapons.
Don't get me wrong, paragon would almost defo lose either way, but could've done way more damage
@@yan4013 Oh, well then whatever chances tachyon paragon had, to deal more damage are now substantially slimmer or gone completely.
Good point
Invictus is mostly frontal firepower and its so slow that capitals are really the only thing it can fight
@@yan4013 resistances like that multiply not add together unfortunately so two 50% reductions mean 25% damage not 0%.
Also though, distributed fire control doubles weapon health.
The brick of doom
Hey, keep Doom out of it.
My shields? Shunted. My crew? Grunted.
Less of a "useless" ship, more of a hyperspecialized one. This thing is only good for the center point of a fleet. Anywhere else, anywhere alone it is outcompeted.
Treat it like an onslaught, its a good fleet anchor so escorts are needed.
I find it specially useful as a battering ram to deal with stations. With 4 Hellbores, it easily deals with the shields and armor, while the station struggles to do anything to it.
@@mikea2363 *Ave, true to Ludd*
It’s actually still good against frigates even when alone. Devastators on the front and back turrets and mark 9s on the middle turrets and does pretty well. Can quite easily kill its DP worth of frigates without significant damage. HIL sunders are it’s biggest worry.
@@ewanlee6337but what if?
D mod maxing?
(i love d mod maxing It allows me to throw insane amounts of trash with long range guns welded to It at almost 0 cost)
1:31 I love that 2x autopulses and 2x tachyon lances are as effective on an Invictus as throwing a wet napkin or shouting at it through your monitor 😂 It shows how great of a game Star Sector is when you can have something like this and its not even remotely overpowered.
unironically a meme ship. when i fought one for the first time i shit myself, and then my swarm of destroyers proceeded to just not be in front of its hardpoints. It's so durable that shooting it felt like shooting a moon
edit: i wanna talk about that time i was watching 2 radiants and a conquest shooting at an invictus, although it was at the top of the map so the invictus just turned around and fucking left. didnt even get through the armor yet
makes it a good siege weapon if nothing else then. Nothing better for smashing up stations or breaking enemy formations as they're forced to break up at whatever his entry point is
@@chaincat33 If the enemy is using slow capitals too, then good this thing does exactly that. otherwise if their big ships have good mobility, like if youre fighting remnants, then they can just stay away from the invictus
I fought this thing with a million Wolf's, alongside an Executor, a Legion, and some Eradicators and Eagles. I lost about half of my entire fleet, since the invincible moras on its side provided absurd protection, we couldn't flank. So, we got gaped until finally they were pushed away, then it was just a few minutes of hammering the first one while the second one was distracted. Even while typing this, I can see the gunfire in the darker parts of my screen.
I did a Nexerial8an mission where you have to help the redacted and the joint Hege Luddic church fleet had one of these. The rest of the fleet went down easy leaving this as the last thing standing besides myself and doesn't of the Remanent drone ships which were hugging the stupid thing.
It sucked because apart from the Radiant which I asuming got blown up when I wasn't looking I had the only capital ship and I couldn't shoot the dam Invictus without blowing up the drone ships and losing rep with them which was the whole reason I was there. So I had to wait for them to widdle the dumb brick down well they dud next to nothing and it's giant guns fired ineffectually as the Frigate swarm it took forever
I’ve never played Starsector, barely understand the mechanics off of the few videos I’ve watched
But I assume this ship is basically the “oh lawd he comin” of Starsector
Funny brick with guns strapped to it
Where many ships try clever strategies utilising shields, speed and armour with support abilities and weapons with a wide range of strategies.
This ship is a big dumb brick of armor with as many guns strapped to the front as they could fit (a lot).
Its like everybody else is playing rock paper scissors. And this ship loudly yells above GUN! and wins.
Its dumb, its fun. and its suprisingly effective
in lore this ship was littrealy the spear head of the Domain quashing any opposition that why its a Class Dreadnought quite old in the sector from a begone era yet still fundamentally powerful
@@aoki6332 it's slow as hell and doesn't turn for shit so it's easy to fight given even a battleship should be able to be fast enough to stay on the 3 sides sides that aren't a big ass wall of death. Its just time consuming because of its ridiculous armor well that and AI pilots Don't tend to be smart enough to outflank it
@@vonfaustien3957 that why it need a escort but i was just making parallel whit irl dreadnought ship big ship whit everything you can put on it it was game changer and be the time Modern Battleship came into play they where still somewhat relevant if not for there lack of mobility and there insane price that pretty much what the Invictus is a revolutionary class that paved the way to more sophisticated ship
Conquest: "Alright guys, it's 4v1. Just stick together and we'll be fine"
Onslaught #1: "I'll take the first hit. You guys hit him with everything you got"
Onslaught #2: "I'll provide supporting fire"
Paragon: "Pfeh, this is gonna be a cakewalk"
Brick of Ludd: "BRICK SMASH!"
Those red lasers are basicaly targeting lasers for this ship
I believe in a devblog about the ship the concept was based off of the hms dreadnought’s design philosophy of ‘all big guns’ which is commonly referenced when talking about hms dreadnought (correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that’s where the LiDAR idea came from too)
Less all big guns and more a uniform main battery. Pre-dreadnought battleships had wacky combinations of various calibres that confused range finding and gun-laying, so the notion of a uniform main battery was a game changer. Secondaries did still exist, and for a while they were all about doing the majority of work while main batteries were citadel-crackers, if that makes any sense.
@@hallowedbeyourdays If you crack a ship's citadel, you don't have a ship anymore
@@isopod_gaming-real- there were no radars at the time of HMS Dreadnaught.
The Holy brick smashes the demonic donut.
Reminds me of when I mounted 5 Tachyons on a Radiant and integrated an Alpha AI into it...
It would speedrun popping escorts and capitals and only struggled vs Paragon...But would eventually get it since Paragon shields have a slow windup.
Nothing killed it since blink on a capital is ridiculously OP, nothing could outrun it either. Only downside was the heavy investment you need on officer skills, essentially making you a cargo captain lmao.
Now I don't know if it would beat this Invictus, since AI cores use aggressive behavior, but it's highly likely since it can weather down armor from a safe range and blink away if it ever gets into Mjolnir range. Would take forever though since Invictus is a thicccccccccccccccccc boi.
The Invictus has 1800 range with LiDAR on, 2025 with officer skills. The radiant has 1750 range with tachs and skills, 2100 with advanced optics so they have similar ranges and quad mjolnirs with x3 fire rate does a good job of matching tachyons burst.
I’ve had fun piloting a quad Guass which has 2700 range. Use it to flux up and scare off capital ships so the rest of my can kill everything else and then swarm the capitals.
A Radiant with an Alpha core? But that's way above what the [Redacted] skill would let you. I can only put a Gamma core in it.
@@massivecent3729 Ah, yes, the skill I have always overlooked because my enemies tend not to endure in combat.
Wow how much armor is that thing even have!?
It's 10000, but most of it functions like a hull point buffer, as for damage reduction purposes, only 10% of the armor is used in the calculation.
@@dmitrygolubev9398 seems tough

Tough but without shields, high per shot HE will tear through them. High Intensity Lasers and other station killers are their bane.

A frontal power oriented version of Onslaughter (god that mod is crazy)
Great
Now let's see it fight single tempest
It's got 2 large missile slots that can take up anti frigate role, swaping out the reinforced builkhead is enough op
@@aierce It also has large weapon mounts on each side behind it.
Double thunders and locusts and frigates are GONE
Fighting the Invictus head-on isn't the best idea ever.
I'm no longer afraid of this thing when it's on the side of a hostile fleet.
It's very easy to attack its flanks with destroyers.
Make sure to first eliminate or pull away its escort vessels.
My Avoid order stay on it head until all other ships are dealt with.
a fleet just of invictus and a shit ton of monitors
crab rave fleet
It seems the enemy ships were remarkably conservative with their missiles. 2 onslaughts with 4 medium pods each shoulda blanketed your ships with anihilator rockets/reaper torps and stripped the armor with relative ease, ignoring the 2 large missiles from the conquest that also shoulda been firing a ton.
Obviously the 4 large ballistic hardpoints are powerful, but it's otherwise easy to avoid and stupidly slow, as well as requiring your flux venting skills that the AI rarely employs. Seems like a bit of a paper tiger, unfortunately.
The conquest died before it could do much but it was firing it’s missiles before then. The onslaughts were also firing their annihilators whenever they were in range though they were a bit skittish and staying out of range. Might have been because of the Invictus long range plus it not having high flux most of the time while the other capitals built up flux quickly.
The Paragon did get two reapers in. They just didn’t do much because it is 11,000 armour even if it’s only effectively 1,100 in the calculations.
The aggressive 4 Mjolnir venting strategy is not an AI friendly one but just 2 mark 9’s and 2 HAG’s is pretty good.
I remeber my first experience with the invictus. I threw everything I had at it and it's armor wouldent even break. If there was a youtube video that is the most similar to that experience it would be that one family guy clip where joe beats up the gang.
I dismissed this thing pretty quickly as an overfluxed brick, but it seems my initial impressions were wrong
its scary how for almost half of the video the armour was untuched. In the end only a small part was damaged, hell i didnt even see the turrets break down so much and for almost no time at all.
frontal armor is gone and this this thing STILL tanked a reaper to the face. CURSED
Beast.
For this sole reason, is why the invictus is the sole ship I actually like.
Absolute brick shit-house, I love it.
11000 armour?????
For damage reduction calculations it's only counted as 10% that value
Still with damage mitigation skill 2 reapers *Barely* Crack the armor.
@@logion567 Sounds like some breaches would do good here, considering they deal 250 dmg to armour directly.
@@thegamer5367not really, the ablative armor style of this ship means that 250 damage isn't as meaningful as normal armored ships
@@logion567 So like an imperial armor package moded ship?
@@aierce no no, the 250 armour damage is done *directly* to armour, with nothing able to reduce it.
On top of that, you fire 3 missiles with a small mount, or 5 with a medium one, thats a easy 1.250 armour stripped in a single salvo.
These things are pretty easy to bully with tach lances and frigates with reapers.
*finesse has left the chat* 😀
I fight this thing in a Eagle cruiser, and I win. How? I kill units protecting its flanks, then keep bothering it until it decides to turn towards me. Then my onslaught moves in towards now outflanked enemy, finishes the job with a huge salvo of tons of hammers I installed on it, while this brick still tries to decide who to shoot.
The most any of them did, was Paragon with the two hardpoints. If it had more of those (instead of lasers) it could probably actually deal damage.
You wanna know whats better than the decicive battle doctrine?
Supreme firepower and armor.
I was blinded by the explosion. Why you do this:(
No efficiency overhaul? Thath's gotaa be brutal on campaign level
Whoever at hegemony high command who decided to stop using this thing should be fired
Try Domain High Command, they replaced this with the Onslaught, mostly because its armor design was REALLY outdated and it had a ridiculously high crew and supply requirement.
What a monster
so you pay OP and DP both.. for converted hangar fighters
lmao it's like a giant Dominix from EVE
how much front armor y got on that thing? ti´s scary
If you tired to outnumber this ship with a wolf class ship build, you'd run out of combat readiness before it runs out of hull
Phase ships are his weakness, is so slow
Keep in mind it has large weapon mounts one on each sides behind it.
If you put devastators on the sides and rear then frigates and phase ships will get shredded.
Built one and named it The Brick.
Scariest part...it's more mobile then an Onslaught
Yep, I'm gonna get me one of these.
These guys need a nerf, they went through it's armor
I think they need to work on the lore more. I imagine the war with AI was insane I imagine the Invictus was a major player in mankind's survival but there had to be something else like so legendary madman that made it all happen, who thinking outside the box and great sacrafice was able to win. The Remenant are to insanely strong.
The Invictus wasn't present in either AI war. In fact the Invictus design is so old that prior to the Luddic Church adopting them for defensive use, they were only found in the forms of ancient blueprint chips in museums.
The Domain threw Invictus at rebellious colonies like throwing bricks
Luddic Church > Luddic Path
İts OP
Good meme build lol, can see it being decent but the build does need a little work on the finer details! :P
Invictus: ARMOR DO BOOM BOOM
Single Hyperion with 1 ion pulser: let me introduce m...
You won cuz horrible build and tactic of enemy. But Invictus is still sucks imo
Distributed Fire Control cuts EMP damage in half. Add Resistant Flux Conduits and the odds of anything short of a Tachyon Lance actually disabling engines or weapons drops drastically. Also, no need to bother bringing the front hardpoints to bear on the frigates, that's what devastators in side-turrets are for.
