Everything too good to be true is never free, nothing is free. The consequences gets more serious and scarier as we grow up and get higher up in society.
tbh even knowing this fact I'm still not sure I would trust myself to remember it if I'm in that situation, bc sometimes when you're talking to someone they may seem trustworthy and your mind may not even think of the worst case scenario in that moment. It's always the times we don't expect it that things like this happen
it's much harder accepting a drink from a complete random than from that "nice" "friend of a friend" of yours, they already have your trust. we should always be careful, it's a sick world, it's sad but that's reality
@Melanie Beeby that happens to good people. For example I wouldn't set up a drug on anyone so I *innocently* don't expect that other people would do that to me! Sorry for poor grammar but I hope that you get my point! :)
@@melaniebeeby1781 lol acting like you wouldn't have done the same in your position or you would have known so much more shit's different when you're an outsider to actually being part of the industry
Y’all need to stop saying this video is relevant only NOW. These topics have ALWAYS been relevant, y’all just turned a blind eye because of the glitz and glamor of the entertainment industry
Exactly! We shouldn't start with Hollywood....it's WAY worse and really disgusting what's happening there behind closed doors...not only about women but also about kids, sacrifices, rituals, cannibalism, the whole package...Hollywood is demonic..kpop is also dark but in no way as disgusting as Hollywood! 🤢
I'm glad you covered this topic too. I love Kpop a lot but no one can deny this side that it has. A lot of trainees have fallen victims of sexual abuse and all sort of things out of fear or hoping it would help their career. I remember Jang Ya-Yeon who commited suicide at an early age. There are many cases of the Ceo abusing the teens . . . And not to get started on the diets and all the physical problems they go through due to inhuman demands. I just hope that things will change and it'll get better for the future idols and those that have already debuted. That's why I never hate on idols no matter what actions and rumors spread about them. They don't deserve the hate they get after all they go through.
Divine Gi Yes, I know she was an actress. I just mentioned her because her story was very sad and threw light over these matters not only for idols but entertainers in general. It was the first time when I read that I realized how far things could be taken and just what these people sacrificed to go somwhere or be known. Actresses, idols, musicians and even in every day life young women fall prey of those stronger then them. A lot of powerful CEO's and people in high positions have gone and still go unpunished simply because they have money and Korea is a society that puts the blame on the women not men when such things happen. In fact it isn't only women who are targeted. Young boys suffer as well. The poor are walked over and no one does a thing, even police gets corrupted. Such things happen all around Korea. In nightclubs, office, on street and even at home. If you watched Hello Counselor you'd be surprised how many pedofiles and abusers are shown and their acts are downplayed because Korea has primitive views when it comes to mental illnesses and tabboo topics. They think that not talking about them or going public about them will make them disappear but obviously that's not the case.
There’s a Kpop group... well they were supposed to debut soon or were supposed to debut. This group is named “Ateen”, 3/(or) 4 of the members were reportedly sexually abused by the CEO Wife in public (restaurant) in front of their (CEO & Wife) Daughter 😢 And also there was a KPOP group who disbanded because of how they were treated (they were abused horrifically) and they were minors at the time too 😢
This is so sad and not fair at all. Did anyone around her even help her out? The industry did this to her and nobody stepped up to protect her or provide justice for her? Not even the actors and actresses helped her? This is so sickening. Everyone involved in this story is at fault for harming her and failing to protect her. I feel so sad. She died harboring so much pain and wounds. This world sucks.
I mean… in a nightclub any “candy” is probably MDMA pill. The girl from the video took one. The reason why she was happy and then the next day experienced a comedown is because of the serotonin-releasing effects of the substance.
@@exog8848 All of the accusations have not been confirmed by any official resources up until this moment. The only thing people had from the start was false articles spread by mass media. In fact, now finally, new statements disproving those fake articles are being released.
@@mikunyash if that's the case, it's a second chance for him to choose his friends better and start listening to people who truly care for him. There were a lot of videos showing that Bigbang members constantly warned him about his "friends".
Hey guys! I know this is a BIG topic, I will probably make part 2 touching other things I didn't cover. Remember, please know every video is about ONE person's experience and NOT EVERYONE is like this. Share&Like this video with your friends!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been wanting to know more about this topic. I already know a lot but I know there’s far more than this. I’m really curious to know more about prostitution in the korean industry
Thank you for this video Grace! It’s the most important topic you’ve introduced so far and I think you should definitely make a part two so that aspiring artists can be careful in the future! The drug topic really worried me
From your description of the drug & effects of the drug, it sounds like you were given molly, or MDMA. What usually is the main ingredient in ecstacy. Just wanted to share the knowledge, just in case you or a friend ever see it again. Knowing the drug you were given could save your life if medical response is necessary!
That's actually a very important video. Too many KPOP fans still think that the KPOP industry is super pure and glamorous, which is obviously not the case. Thank you *Grace* for sharing those details with us. Since you are part of this business you know what is actually happening "backstage".
DiAnE it is not just Kpop but all entertainment industries around the world. I have known about all this stuff for a very long time it is nothing new to me.
A nation that is the no1 childseller in the world, apparently has no shame in prostituting national popstars for money. Korea has sold almost one milion children abroad for ax 50 000 usd a pop. You do the math. A country like korea has no shame and they blame the children. Korea has compromised everything and there is nothing but shame in a nation that prostitute and sell off its own familymembers. Disgusting. Look it up.
So it’s better to go to college, have a degree and will soon work. If then you’re interested with music then I guess learn how to produce a song or just sign up a TH-cam acct.
even then, it's difficult. the rigorous selection process, toxic social-environment, and harsh hierarchy... there's a reason why South Korea has a high suicide rate.
If you have talent, but just have a yt channel, in South-Korea probably you won't be any big, because the big companies own the K-Pop world. Even if you are not alone, but the member of a smaller label or management, you won't have the same opportunities, like the big ones. Less roles in k-dramas, less oportunity to be in shows, or on stage in shows.
Not necessarily, just don’t be able to be manipulated and taken advantage of and you should be fine. Don’t let your need for fame to allow you to be treated like shit.
Music shouldn't be about becoming infamous ..this is why I prefer rock and metal. Well one of the many reasons. Pop ,kpop, country ,rap..its all so fake and superficial
The drug they gave you was crystal meth, I experienced it and it was completely horrible, I ended up passing out and being hospitalized. I hate how people go around and give this thing like if it was a "candy", and I don't understand why the police does nothing about it. I was glad that when it happened to me, my friends and nice people were there, who know what could happen to me if they weren't there.
Possibly but it sounds more like molly or MDMA to me. Molly is often pink in color or shade. Meth normally tastes very bitter, and cannot easily be masked by any added flavoring.
@@birdy369 MDMA crystals are very rare however, most MDMA is taken in pill or powder form, not crystal. Negative experiences while still under the effect of the drug are also rare with MDMA.

@@youmadfunnydude602 Yeah, but these problems don't only relate to k-pop idols. For example, Britney Spears' father was actually under control on not only her career, but her life overall (i.e., she wasn't able to see her kids via her career), and that was since 2008. So both industries are just as bad as the others
international fans and non-fans who think kpop is a rosie wonderland need to know about stuff like this. the subject definitely could use more exposure, and perhaps doing so could lead to better conditions for performers and underlings in the korean entertainment business. maybe Vice Asia should do one of their in-depth mini documentaries "The Dark Underbelly of the K-pop Industry ft. he was an investor and depending on which type of investment he did, for example if it was with common stock then you are considered an owner. But we don't know with what exactly he invested with.
@Roasty Factory not taking side on this issue, just teaching you english: HUMAN TRAFFICKING = the action or practice of illegally transporting people from one country or area to another, typically for the purposes of forced labor or sexual exploitation.
@Roasty Factory I agree that the things you mention unfortunately exist, but I am also convinced that every case ia different and we should not use the words "every" "always" ... generalizing is bad. I worked in 5 stars hotels for 10 years and I saw many things, drugs, prostitution, corruption (and many celebrities involved) so I get it. But not all celebrities are like this. And many women accept to do this job because they like money, I can tell you because I got to know them. So before saying all the prostitutes are victims and all men are human traffickers, let's think about it. Unfortunately entertainment world, politics and business are all the same s*it and we still do not realize and keep voting them and idolizin them. My former prime minister just poisoned a woman (she is dead) because she was going to testify against him and his sex and corruption scandals. Imagine how much I trust politicians, celebrities and media😤
Before you entered at the world of kpop 1. you must know the dark side of kpop 2. you must know your limitation(s) 3. you must know your limitations(s) fanboy or fangirl 4.its your choice to believe it or not 5.this is an important advice to those who new a kpop fan.
As a loyal Kpop/drama fan, sometimes I feel guilty for being a fan. The more people get into the halyu wave, the more idols will be exploited. It's like, I love the idols with my whole heart, but some of the labels, CEOs or managers, can choke idc.
This reminds me of the G.NA scandal. She got "caught" having "dinner" with some older guy in the industry, and people assumed she was selling herself. G.NA said she didn't know it was that kind of meeting (she said she got tricked into it), but people were very quick to shame her, and it ruined her career. Of course, no one really knows the truth, but it's still sad that people were judging her instead of having empathy for the fact that she was either victimized by her management or she was that desperate for her career to keep going that she would sell herself. Either way, it's a situation where ppl should have felt pity for her, not contempt. :/
Erised Moon I would be very surprised if she didn’t know what was going on. G.na had been in the Kpop industry for a while and for sure knew what he meant by “”dinner”” because I’m sure she’d gotten plenty of other offers like that in the past, whether she’d taken them or not. What the real problem is, is the rampant sexism in Korea and the exploitation of idols. Women pretty much have their careers ended by scandals while men just simply don’t. Female idols must at all times hold up a pure innocent image, while simultaneously being exploited by their companies. It would be a very hard offer to give up if you were either a) an older idol who didn’t have much of a career left or b) you were a young idol with massive amounts of trainee debt and a company who’d taken loans out to finance you. In both situations your company would probably be very in favour of loaning you out for the night, and would thus put a lot of pressure on you. I think a lot of the time you’d just suck it up and do it, even though it disgusted you.
Maybe its not for prostitution but she was still a dumbass lol. Who would pay you a big sum just to eat dinner. She knew even though she may not had sex for money
@@gg-bs1ey I actually did some research after I posted this comment yesterday, and apparently yes, insiders have confirmed that G.NA didn't know what was going on when she met this guy. Some guy friend she knew lent her money in her hard times, and when she tried to pay him back, he told her that all she needed to do was go out on a blind date with a broker friend of his. She did him that favor, but then later found out that this broker had given her friend a huge sum of money to set him up on a date with her. G.NA only thought that she was going out on a blind date as a favor to her friend who had her money, when in fact her friend had received that money from that broker to hook them up. So yeah, she's actually innocent.
Erised Moon ...yes I’ve read articles and their official statements too. And I don’t believe a word of it. She’s a 30 year old veteran of the industry, not a naive 20 yr old trainee. She’s not dumb enough to believe that all it was was a ‘blind date’. Especially, as she is in that industry same as grace. She would know people that have done similar things, and probably gotten similar offers. Those statements are damage control because her public image tanked. The amount of Korean men who pay for prostitution is staggering, but if your on the other side then your the scum of society.
@@gg-bs1ey I guess I would say that yes G.Na know about all of those things, however, given that it's G.Na's friend she wouldn't even thought of that happening. Given that also the exchange of money happened behind her back. In the end, we really don't the whole truth.
As an entertainment lawyer....I agree with one thing Grace says in particular. NEVER sign any contract without having a lawyer look at it....especially in entertainment. I have NEVER seen a contract that didnt have a hidden catch in it. And they are drawn deliberately in the favor of the one giving the contract....if nothing else because if it is negotiated...they want to have something they can give up. So signing one unseen just guarantees you are getting a bad deal. If someone is going through the effort of giving you a contract...that means they have made an investment....gotten approvals from other people etc. They will negotiate it with you since it would be egg on their face if you turned them down after they went and got approvals and convinced people they should engage you. Your bargaining position is never as weak as you may think. (This is not legal advice....this is just common sense!)
Oh my gosh.. Do you think this thing will happen on the 3 big company? I want audition YG company but after this dark side Im scared... I dont live in Korea and Im a girl...
I would imagine it does happen with all companies....at least to some degree. Even fair companies may feel it is better to have a contract in their favor and then rely on being fair in practice. It's just human nature to think of things from your own perspective rather than the other side's perspective.
thinthings don't worry....just get a lawyer when the time is right....especially one who has handled people redoing their contracts. Once lawyers get involved...the business people pass the matters to the lawyers and it tends to take a completely different tone. No one wants the lawyers spreading news of one side being ridiculously unfair. It would impact all the other kinds of business they do.
becoming k pop idol means losing one's life and true happiness. I think initially everything is fine for them but then they repent and fall into depression. k pop is not like being a singer in the west, life is much harder and sadder for idols.
Looool this comment is so weird. This shit happens in every single entertainment industry. Hollywood is probably the worst of all, you should do some research on that
@x x my goal was to draw attention to a changing situation in the world. no country is perfect and it is precisely for this reason that we must raise awareness of the subject to make society better and more correct for everyone.
I read up on Jang Ja Yeon's case. In 10 years time almost NO ONE in her list of 20 or 30 aggressors was ever prosecuted. They recently charged one of the prosecutors in that case for giving special treatment to certain people who were accused. It's absolutely sickening that she never got the justice she deserved, even in her death... the whole entertainment scene is controlled by men in power, men in politics, men with money. So many girls are used and abused and traded around like commodities. Korea is one of the leading countries in beauty, skin, technological, surgical and musical breakthroughs in the world right now and it breaks my heart to know that in 2019 they are still so fucking sexist and regressive.
ElLoco3D Men ain’t shit, if women didn’t exist to keep their aggression in norms there would be no people alive to this day, we would be extinct (not that that doesn’t sound great) because of a dick measuring contest gone wrong. So, they and the whatever book you want to cite, especially if it’s a fairytale one (which has caused women to be treated like objects due to the indoctrination and brainwashing via harassment and murders) about a supposedly existing god, one of the existing gods or whatever, ain’t SHIT. P.S, I would suggest you research things when you talk, men didn’t invent those things, first of all because they are way too general and arbitrary, there are stuff in technology that men invented, sure, but guess what, women did too, in centuries when they weren’t allowed to invent, i.e. didn’t have the chance to, since they were forced to do something specific and were never allowed to get educated on the same level as men by laws, (can you imagine someone being that scared of a woman‘s success and voice that he forbids her to achieve knowledge and freedom? Well I can, men), they still thrived. Politics are not one type, there are many, and some are created by men, like the most vile ones, dictatorship (are we surprised) and some are created by a number of people, let’s not forget that before the 325th imaginary god of the “good“ book you cited, there were civilizations that women could prosper and had the power to do things. Also, lets not go to artistry, you wouldn’t want to listen to that part. Neither should I mention which surgical and medical items were created by women.

This is why I admire celebrities in Thailand. They are all well educated. There are doctors, national athletes, architects, chef etc. even when they are the top of their career, they don’t give up their education. Like Mew Suppasit taking PHD degree while working, also many others who are taking masters degree too. Sometimes even reduce work to focus on education.
When you realize you’ve been VERY fortunate for most of your life... I hear these stories so often it’s insane, not just in Korea but honestly all over the world. Human trafficking mainly. Thank god i have never even been close to a situation like this. I’m very very grateful, but also very terrified because I’m going to be a mom soon to a baby girl and this just scares me so much. So true and this is a large problem among teens and young women. Many moms worry about there children and notice when someone follows them or contact on there social media lies to trap them. But if we continue to expose and help others it maybe get safer for all of us.
Ugh there are many cases and it's common. Actress Jang Ja Yeon committed suicide and in her final letter she revealed about this issue. She was forced to entertain and have sex with several program directors, CEOs and media executives. It was 7 pages long list. Among them was name of producer for KBS's Boys Over Flowers, the most popular drama that she ever appeared in.There was a survey among actresses after her death and 80% said they have gotten some kind of offer or was sexually harassed before. 80%!!!! Taiwanese idol Lin Wei Ling revealed on Taiwanese Tv show that she was canvassed to barter her body in exchange for an opportunity to make it in Korea. Open World ent used to rape their female trainees, there are more than 10 victims, some are underage. In 2013 JTBC TV aired an interview with an ex trainee,ex-trainee refused to reveal her name "When I belonged to an agency, even though I was a minor I was often asked to be present at a bar. In truth, there are agencies that function more like brokers that trade female trainee to different sponsors.” “A broker would have profiles of trainees of various entertainment companies as well as female students that are attending art schools. To meet a female trainee, a sponsor would be charged on average approximately 220.00 USD per meeting. If they want to meet a very young female or someone from a prominent agency, they may be charged 700~900.00 USD. A sponsor must make a reservation at least a day ahead, and only those that are already on broker’s customer list can get a meeting.” One male ex-trainee confessed that; “They rented a room to drink for one of the staff members birthday and had a male trainee perform strip shows while girls poured drinks on him and touched him inappropriately.” "If we call the police, it will become a huge issue in the media and we don’t want that.” They are afraid of being outed to the public and having their identities revealed if they call the police.Public would shame them.
This is so terrible. And yet sadly, I'm not even surprised. And crazy "meninimists" are still getting butthurt whenever a female tries to bring these topics up. It's crazy how the public shames the victim, I mean what is the point? Where even is the logic?
This is exactly what they did during world war 2 and the korean war. These girls are now called "comfort woman". The Korean army provided the service to both Japanese and American troops. Here is a study by a professor from a Korean university. japan-forward.com/why-korean-professor-believes-comfort-women-were-not-sex-slaves/
I believe 100% that most kpop girl groups who aren't top groups will be have at least one member prostitute themselves. I also believe that many male kpop idols are gay-for-pay.
Even the very top kpop girl groups have to provide escort services to super wealthy businessmen types. All of them, even the A listers. I just read some of the craziest rumors recently.
Ice 77 you’re giving me a migraine with how you’re talking. Are you an idol? Do you have any proof of idols being “illuminati puppet sluts”? These people are victims. Calling them stuff like that isn’t okay. A lot are caught up in what are essentially slave contracts.. Meaning they have no choice but to do certain things with certain people because their manager says so. Look at it this way. If you were really passionate about music, you wanted people to hear your voice and creativity and you were offered a chance at stardom. You’d take it, right? Anyone would, especially if it’s what you dream of, what you’ve prepared yourself for from a young age. This however leads a lot of these idols into traps in the form of contracts where they’re manipulated whilst they get to chase their dream and do what they love most. Not only do they do this to chase their dreams in being a known musician, but their family could also be very poor. I don’t blame them for wanting to make money, buy homes for their family and set up a concrete safe future for themselves and their family.. Even if that means they have to endure all types of Hell in order to be successful. Take the time to look further and learn about people’s circumstances before making future judgements, please. You just look stupid with comments like these.
Serious question: do companies get their people hooked on pills to stay awake and working such INSANE hours? I have yet to see an SM group's performance that didn't look like they hadn't slept in a week. Exo/NCT seems to be the most zombified (90% of the performances!), and BTS/Blackpink don't seem to be on anything. The Kpop industry reminds me of America in the Golden Age. Stars back then got hooked on pills and alcohol by their Companies. Judy Garland's an example.
This video really changed my perspectives. I knew that the companies don't give a sht about their celebrieties, thats why they arrange these strange " meetings". Poor those kpop stars that are forced/obliged to go. Also the drug thing is why I m very paranoid. I usually don't go to club because I don't like the atmosphere but even on a dark street or on a place where there are few people, Im careful about everything, this world made me so scared and sometimes I find it hard to trust people easily. The kpop world seems bright and colorful on the outside, but on the inside it seems there are many dark secrets, strange, manipulative and bad people who use money and power to controle/make others do what they want. Usually the girls are the ones who suffer. And if we also think about the thing that most of these celebs don't have a degree, its clear its harder for them so they accept in order to survive and have enough money. Very very sad.
@Gigi Just based off of the people who have told me about those things, there have been more guys than girls. As for why they somehow end up telling me about that stuff, I'm really not sure, but I suppose they deem me trustworthy?
Not all companies don’t care about their idols. There are a few examples of companies that care for their idols. For example, JYPE. No company is perfect, including JYPE. But you can tell he loves and cares for his artists. He makes sure their mental health is good and makes sure they have therapy and has a family relationship with his artists. He even keeps friendly relationships with artists that leave his company. He values his artists having honesty, integrity, and humbleness even more than talent. I also heard ATEEZ’s CEO is very good.
Well lets be honest here, its the whole entertainment industry. Everywhere where people money, influence and fame is involved, people will be exploited. It starts with terrible contracts and ends in these stories. Most people just see the image Hollywood/Kpop or anything else portrait to the outside.
@@CottidaeSEA There are more guys than girls? I know in hollywood the main problem is pedophilie but I didn't know there are that much men interested in boys.
This was a really mature and pragmatic addressing of these topics, Grace, massive props to you for at least partially covering them (and I hope you do make a part 2) and doing so in such a professional and intelligent way.
That's why the companies are very strict to their idols and trainees to not having a boyfriend because if you do your ex bf might blackmail you. I remember gu hara..she was a victim of a blackmail of her ex bf if I'm not mistaken.
Wow, crazy how 2 weeks later all of this exposed. Sadly, rumors like this is not only exclusive to Korea. I also hear a lot of stories like this in our country where big celebrities are sold to huge foreign celebrities coming in our country for an exclusive night. It's such a dirty world and I can't fathom why anyone would use people in this way. I hope you always stay safe there Grace.
Yep. It is. When I was a kid, I told my mom I wanted to become a model. She joked around that I don't have the looks but she then added, "that's one dangerous industry" and told me models are like 'goods being sold', I didn't understand way back then. Then came college when I liked this particular korean girl group and she told me, "those girls may have met successful businessmen with their offers. That's why they're now famous" I was disgusted with the thought and shrugged it off. She then told me that her former bandmate who was a wife of a producer told her all the shitty business that's been going on for years in the entertainment industry.
Moral of the story: listen to your mom when she tells you DONT TALK TO STRANGERS🤤 Also, don’t drink or eat anything given to you by someone...even if ur water bottle was out of your sight for a mere second, don’t drink from it, it could be spiked.
I think this is the wrong message. When you're a kid you shouldn't talk to strangers since you don't have judgment. As an adult you are supposed to be wiser. I don't think there's any harm to talk to strangers. Just don't be naive like a kid.
Theres a super old clip of SNSD Taeyeon on Strong Heart talking about how she was approached by a famous male celebrity/CEO/rich person (cant remember exactly) to basically do "favors" for him. SNSD was already a group but this was pre-Gee so they were rookies. He would harass her and text and call constantly saying inappropriate stuff and she hated it but because he was such a huge senior in the industry and age-wise she couldnt straight up tell him to fuck off. Eventually she did tell him to leave her alone and he threatened to ruin her. To this day i still wanna know who the fuck it was. I was so shocked she talked about it so openly on this TV show especially when they werent the super famous girlgroup they are today and that was the first time I'd heard an idol admit something like that. This reminds me of HyunA's song called Babe Which- Is basically super deep if you think about the lyrics and see the mv. The moment the countdown gets to the point where she's a minor, things really seem obvious someone could've done something to her as she was a minor. And G.na was seen on a 'date' or something with an older male. People started to shame her for it. These two are both from cube. Makes you wonder what type of hell the company could be, at least some staff there.
When HyunA was underage she was actually in JYP and I wouldn’t be surprised if JYP sold her to someone because he used to brag about hanging out with R Kelly and plus he’s made some of his minor stars do some questionable things in the past as well.
@@marer1000 Hyuna was only 14 when she debuted with Wonder Girls under JYP entertainment, and there is a lot of speculation that something terrible happened to her there because her parents abruptly removed her from the agency after her debut.
My sisters friend used to be a staff but stopped working because they pay shit money. She said staff doesn’t really know much but there’s one idol (not gonna say name cause their fandom is crazy) gets drunk and do reckless things a lot. Another thing is, some girl group members had to sleep with their mentor and people in the company to debut. Your either super pretty, is a favourite by the mentor or have good connections (rich parents). Those are the holy Trinity of big3. Your choice to believe but this is just what i knew from my sisters friend.
This video really reminded me of the whole scandal with ATEEN, basically, if you don't know, ATEEN is a new boy group that consists of 10 members, 6 of them were sexually abused by their Manager and his wife, and their first, and currently only Instagram post translates to something like "We hope justice can be saved, please help us" Edit: Their intagram caption changed to something along the lines of “thank you all for your support”, also, I’m aware there is a group called ateez, but I’m not talking about them
Just thinking about that these things could be happening, right now at the moment of speaking, to the people from the industry I know, for example Blackpink, Red Velvet, Twice, Exo, NCT and many more I don't even know about, breaks my heart. I never thought that they could be going through stuff like this. I'm literally heartbroken. I hope sometime soon they'll be able to enjoy their lives without being forced to do these things.

Actually many sketchy things are going on in Gagnam. When I was there, a girl I knew from Russia almost got kidnapped/raped/killed in Gagnam. We don't know what those people wanted to do with her but thank god she managed to get away.
What's also sad is that many Korean celebrities we see are really broke and underpaid. It's very sad that some actresses and singers have to resort to that sort of an option in order to make a living. I hope these celebrities will get fairly paid.
Seems like variations of “Harvey Weinstein” exists everywhere. This is so sad. These girls start off so young, constantly being criticized on their looks all while being separated from their friends and family during training, of course their confidence will be low and fall victim. Not to mention the pressure to succeed due to the investments their parents put in. 😢🤬Text book “grooming” ugh so gross and so sad.
Idk if I should say this or not but Seungri allegedly charged with supplying prostitutes and drugged women reminded me of this video. Sorry fans don't judge me but things being hinted, I kinda just connected dots.
Seungri was recently found innocent in the GC messages bc it was Jang Joon-Young who sent all the vids. There’s no proof of Seungri doing anything so he was cleared and is innocent.
Just like any industry with performers (artists, actors, etc) there's ALWAYS a dark side. Unfortunately, many of these celebrities don't speak up in fear of being blacklisted or shunned. I hope that soon people who are being abused by this type of system are able to come out with their stories and not be punished for doing so.
Kidols should create a big movement because of all of these, especially female idols and just females in general, a big movement like that is forced to be taken investigation on
I have Korean friend who found out that some of his buddies were into K-pop, me included. He told me about the exact same thing you described. About how, they have "brokers" that arrange secret hook ups between rich clients (many of them rich heirs to big companies) and k-pop stars. He knew this because a friend of his back in Korea lives in that world of rich "chaebols" (am I using that term correctly?) and that friend told him about it. I asked "well, this has got be to hook up with desperate idols right? Ones that maybe have fallen on hard times?" He said, no...not necessarily, some are very popular and successful. He said, there are many rich men that currently don't want to go through the trouble of dating and seeking a real relationship at their point in life. That because of their status, they're not sure which women are just interested in them for their wealth/power. They've felt safer with just casual disposable hook ups but .... since they're rich, they can afford to perhaps live the dream and be with a glamorous idol for a night. That's when their people talk to the idol's people and .... it gets arranged. After this story, I felt weird. Like, imagine watching your bias perform on stage and the idea sneaks into your head, she's so down to earth and nice ...what if she's one of them? My other thoughts were, do they do it voluntarily? Surely not, they must be manipulated into it right? He mentioned something about how some are okay with going through with it. Remember, not all these "sponsors" are old rich men. Some are still young men that are probably handsome too, they just have the resources to make this kind of evening happen. And the girl agrees because she doesn't mind receiving the extra money. Perhaps to supplement her income or ...maybe she's in that part of an idol career when she's known and popular but hasn't started receiving money from her company yet. The evening takes care of a lot. And if her sponsor is nice and handsome...yah why not? After hearing him put it like that I was still feeling odd. But I understand that point of view and I'm not going to judge a person harshly if it was indeed their choice. I only feel bad if they were manipulated or blackmailed into doing it. Like, "we're not going to renew your contract unless...." or " remember how you got the lead role for that drama? With one phone call I can have it taken away." If that kind of stuff is happening, that's horrible. Also, another thought. When I was told about these shady meetings, it was probably like... back in 2014. The way he told the story gave me the impression that maybe these stories came from perhaps the 2000 - 2012 era of Kpop. But, I dunno ... if Grazy has heard of it recently, then it's gotta be still happening. Very secretive, very in the shadows. I truly hope its not at least rampant and just ...happening a little here and a little there.
I feel like this thing probably still goes on. I mean there isn't a real repercussion for it. Most of the time, they are able to have this arrangement and keep it secret. So there's no reason that this would stop. But the thing to remember is that unfortunately a variation of this happens in most entertainment industries around the world.
@@jw0nevertheless Yes its 50 50. Don't think because it's boys they're safe. Think about that topic with all these world tour going on lately I'm just scared of how they negociate that.
The problem is that the girls would be shamed for doing such things rather than the men paying them. They'd lose their entire careers that they gave up their childhoods for while the rich and powerful just find another k-pop star to "arrange" with. That's the fucked up reality of the double standard.
@@jw0nevertheless I first thought that it would only apply to girls, but seeing the stuff with A-Teen recently I definitely wouldn't count boygroups out. Also don't forget that regardless of them "accepting" an invitation, "the higher their profile, the higher demand" is a rule of thumb.

1. Ailee had scandal in 2013 (I was shocked at the time) which I was relieved she overcame: when she was 18 she got scammed into posing nude for a company pretending to be an underwear company. Then her ex bf (whom allegedly worked for Allkpop) tried to sell those photos to Dispatch. Before I heard the full story, I was shocked and disappointed as to why on earth Ailee would do nudes but soon as more details came out, I felt so bad for her as she was the victim. I'm glad the Korean public showed support. Myself and other Aileeans boycotted Allkpop for that. www.soompi.com/article/550011wpp/dispatch-releases-audio-recording-of-phone-call-with-ailees-ex-boyfriend 2. Baek Ji Young 's ex-manager released a sex-tape of her. Her career suffered but she worked hard to rebuild it. Just some examples that came to mind.
Most people agree the story about the scam was just made up by her agency to cover up for her sending nudes to her ex boyfriend, it didn't really make much sense at all.
Kartoffel she 100% sent nudes to her ex-boyfriend- its the only logical explanation as to why he had them too. but who cares it was her personal pic and they were dating and they can do what they please, but i cant he believe he had the audacity to expose her for media attention on allkpop... i also remember unfollowing them on fb after that exact situation
Listening to your story made me realized that GD could have told the truth when he said he received the drug cigarette from a stranger during the party in Japan without knowing! I doubted him 60% at first, now I reduce it to 10%...
I always knew there was more beneath the glam surface in the entertainment industry. Artists are also selling an image/fantasy to audience. I just sort of grew up seeing my fav kpop groups get pushed aside for younger, hotter, newer groups from then I just kinda lost interest and only follow the artist with real talents and personality.
THEY HAVE TO TALK ... They have to scream out all this things, they can change all of this, I think the Korean society and the Korean celebrities don't know the power that they have, if all of them decide to talk and fight against all of this it's will change, the European singers and actresses are exposing more and more this situations.... I don't know why the Korean society still begin so ignorant about this...
It’s not ignorance, it’s just that their society isn’t currently lined up with the West when it comes to sexual assault allegations and gender issues. It’s going to be really, really hard for people to come forward because they haven’t had as many come forward within their *own* culture yet. The male skepticism and lack of concern will be stronger than what the West is currently facing. It’s frustrating to see as outsiders, but the victims in that culture must be a million times more frustrated.
Dancing and singing isn't enough so they take their carreers to a whole another level... I can not like kpop and their idols anymore. My 'kpop worship era' is officially over

Chantelle E Yes, who acts happy and willing to constantly interact with others to the point you seem superhuman. Has to be fake. Also, they’re personality has to fit the groups image. If someone is naturally bubbly but in a “sexy” group, that can become a problem.
Hell yeah and it's truly sad. You're watching an idol laugh and crack jokes on screen and then behind all of that they're going through depression and what not. It's honestly heartbreaking.
This happens worldwide in the entertainment industry, but it does seem particularly strong in the idol culture of K-Pop and J-Pop. Some entertainers do it to draw a line between their public and private lives, others are told to act a certain way by their managers. I think it’s sad for the entertainers and the fans. The entertainers aren’t getting to express themselves in ways they might want to, and the fans never know if the stars they like are being genuine or not.

Almost all the industries have dark side it's not always just Entertainment industry. These industries have a good side and bad side. We don't usually talk about other industries because they are not under the public eye.
It's pretty refreshing to hear about this types of topics about what goes on behind the scenes of the industry. It makes you realize that not everything is rainbows and sugar
I will never be able to see the K-pop industry with same eyes. I love the music but as a fan I don't think I will be attach myself to it. I know not everybody is the same and it's not everyone's fault it's just about bringing the idea. How idols are just..
Unfortunately, that pressure for aspiring artists (specially women) to sell themselves in exchange for money, jobs and favors in general isn't something exclusive to the K-pop industry. It is widespread in the entertainment industry all around world. In the western world that's so common (or, at least, used to be before the MeToo movement) that there is even the "casting couch" euphemism. In South Korea, I think the pressure can be especially higher because of contracts that can bind the artists to huge debits (I think the scandal involving one of the GLAM's members, for example, can be partially considered a result of that).
@@forestdump7399, GLAM was a girl group (from the same company as BTS). Unfortunately, one of its members got involved in a blackmail scandal where she was requesting money from one - married - actor she slept with in exchange for a compromising video. In the end, she got arrested and the group disbanded. However, if we think about the reasons for her wrongdoings, well... if I'm not mistaken, she had a debit of hundreds of thousands of dollars with her company. I'm not trying to defend her. But we must recognize that those "slave contracts" that most idols are bounded to are a plague the k-pop industry must get rid of, because its damaging to the idols and can cause from health problems (like depression) to unfortunate situations like the one I wrote about in this message.
@@hao9508, where "gay" has anything to do with this topic? Homosexuality has no correlation with sexual abuses. I simply can't grasp the logic of your comment.
@@guilhermecaeirodemattos so I'm gonna explain myself. South Korea has a really homophobic culture. So count the normal amount of predators now add the people that would buy idol time for even just date because they know it will be completely private and discrete. It doubles.
People are naive to think kpop industry is any different from the music industry in the west. Sex, aggressions, drugs and violence are still a thing.
And that's not even touching the mental strain and stress.
There’s a Kpop group... well they were supposed to debut soon or were supposed to debut.
This group is named “Ateen”, 3/(or) 4 of the members were reportedly sexually abused by the CEO Wife in public (restaurant) in front of their (CEO & Wife) Daughter 😢
And also there was a KPOP group who disbanded because of how they were treated (they were abused horrifically) and they were minors at the time too 😢
This is so sad and not fair at all.
"Dont take candy from anyone."
this is so relevant when i was 6 years old
still relevant
Agreed, my mom taught ne not to take candy since i was 4 years
I mean… in a nightclub any “candy” is probably MDMA pill. The girl from the video took one. The reason why she was happy and then the next day experienced a comedown is because of the serotonin-releasing effects of the substance.
This is so relevant now that Seungri’s scandal is happening oh my god

Before you entered at the world of kpop
1. you must know the dark side of kpop
2. you must know your limitation(s)
3. you must know your limitations(s) fanboy or fangirl
4.its your choice to believe it or not
5.this is an important advice to those who new a kpop fan.

Thank you for sharing your insight as well
Oh my gosh..
@@Yellowdragonbh I see thank you for your comment
thinthings don't worry....just get a lawyer when the time is right....especially one who has handled people redoing their contracts.

In truth, there are agencies that function more like brokers that trade female trainee to different sponsors.”
“A broker would have profiles of trainees of various entertainment companies as well as female students that are attending art schools. To meet a female trainee, a sponsor would be charged on average approximately 220.00 USD per meeting. If they want to meet a very young female or someone from a prominent agency, they may be charged 700~900.00 USD. A sponsor must make a reservation at least a day ahead, and only those that are already on broker’s customer list can get a meeting.”
One male ex-trainee confessed that;
“They rented a room to drink for one of the staff members birthday and had a male trainee perform strip shows while girls poured drinks on him and touched him inappropriately.”
"If we call the police, it will become a huge issue in the media and we don’t want that.”
They are afraid of being outed to the public and having their identities revealed if they call the police.Public would shame them.
This is so terrible. And yet sadly, I'm not even surprised. And crazy "meninimists" are still getting butthurt whenever a female tries to bring these topics up. It's crazy how the public shames the victim, I mean what is the point? Where even is the logic?

Yes, but kpop seems to be darker than most due to the culture in South Korea.
The only bright and colorful thing about Kpop is what happens on stage.

I suddenly remember suli(fx), I'm so sad about what happened to her...
That's why those idols or entertainers need a backup plan, even for the people who "succeed", success and popularity are ephemeral

Never watch your videos cause I’m not really into kpop. But I looove this video and it feels so women empowering I love this!
I truly hope its not at least rampant and just ...happening a little here and a little there.
what about male idols? do they get such offers too?

I already knew that the entertainment industry (all around the world) is dirty and cruel but being an entertainer and living in a "conservative" country (regardless of genders) hits the bottom. Sadly we live in a world where only the "results" matter, the "progress" doesn't. I'm glad seeing you covering this topic and hope many people will see it, listen to it carefully and learn from it.
Anyway, take care of yourself Grace 💓 and drop that album already 🙀😻

The fact that even she knows about Seungri’s club and shady stuff going on there just shows that everybody knows about it and then getting caught is just a matter of time.

2. Baek Ji Young 's ex-manager released a sex-tape of her. Her career suffered but she worked hard to rebuild it.
Just some examples that came to mind.
I didnt know that about Baek Ji Young. I'm glad the public got over it and I'm glad her career picked up
Most people agree the story about the scam was just made up by her agency to cover up for her sending nudes to her ex boyfriend, it didn't really make much sense at all.
Kartoffel she 100% sent nudes to her ex-boyfriend- its the only logical explanation as to why he had them too. but who cares it was her personal pic and they were dating and they can do what they please, but i cant he believe he had the audacity to expose her for media attention on allkpop... i also remember unfollowing them on fb after that exact situation
oops didn’t mean to tag @kartoffel
She was in a relationship when she did those pictures. Which I not the problem. The boyfriend betrayed that trust. He is a dick.
Electra Agreed! I really hope some of these idols speak up eventually

Can you please talk a little bit more about fake personalities in the kpop industry.. does company really make stars put on fake personalities?
Chantelle E Yes, who acts happy and willing to constantly interact with others to the point you seem superhuman. Has to be fake.
Also, they’re personality has to fit the groups image. If someone is naturally bubbly but in a “sexy” group, that can become a problem.
Chantelle E yes i mean at the end of the day they are products and they need to sell so companies gotta make them look appealing
The entertainers aren’t getting to express themselves in ways they might want to, and the fans never know if the stars they like are being genuine or not.
i feel like some could be their actual personalities r like slightly cheerful then the company would be like "okay i think you should push more of the cheerful and cute lively personality more" etc etc if u get what i mean like idk if tis is an example but ive just been thinking i remember jimin from bts saying he wants to be more manly and u can kinda tell but i feel like bc of his cuter looks and voice and smile etc the company was probably like oh you can really pulll off the cute personality u should do that etc etc which is also why they ALWAYS put squeaky sounds no matter what he does but idk this is just my opinion
Almost all the industries have dark side it's not always just Entertainment industry. These industries have a good side and bad side. We don't usually talk about other industries because they are not under the public eye.
It's pretty refreshing to hear about this types of topics about what goes on behind the scenes of the industry. It makes you realize that not everything is rainbows and sugar
before I even watch the video, but your eyeshadow is POPPIN omg
The entertainment industry is full of gay it's really 50 50. No one is protected from predators.
Who is Glam and what happened to them?
It doubles. Homosexuality has no correlation with abuse. However, in this topic it has because it makes the demand for idol's time even greater. Now do you understand the logic?
