Thank you so much for hosting Malcolm here on Grail Country Nate! Malcolm, thank you for your artful speech, breathtaking poetry and for dedicating your life to the Blessed Enchantment that longs to be known in and through us! This! This is what we need more of in our lives. More poetry, more stories and more pipes! I can’t tell you how refreshingly beautiful this was to my heart. Much, much gratitude.

Ever since I first began to listen to Malcolm Guite read extracts from his Grail epic on his own TH-cam channel I have felt that this is his greatest work. It is so good to hear this lengthy conversation on Grail Country that opens up so much of what he is trying to achieve. I cannot wait for the book to be published.

Good to see that you are well and still walking the hollow hills. Did you ever meet up with Brenton Dickieson again?

The grail as chalice suggests the sillhouette image making faces mutually facing ..& thus is the heart of the Vedantic Christian so elusive to attain.

What a great conversation! (Except for when the story of your entry into Anglicanism got brushed to the side, an honest oversight I’m sure.) I feel vindicated to be on the same team as Malcom on the linguistic framing of enchantment/disenchantment, sometimes I worry that they way Rod Dreher and the “ultilitrads” use the term might lead to something like black magic. Malcom seems like a real life example of how if you fully devote yourself to what seems like a LARP, you can break through to underlying reality, not unlike Robin William’s character in the Fisher King (who was of course also a professor)

I really like listening to Malcolm Guite, but he comes across as a bit pompous & intellectually arrogant at times. He always tries to dominate these interviews/podcasts, & doesn’t really listen to the other party/parties or wait to fully hear out what they have to say. He also seems uncomfortable when the other party/parties know/s something he doesn’t, such as when Nate brings up Bulgakov’s ‘The Holy Grail and the Eucharist’, or corrects MG on the incubus/succubus distinction. Seems like one of those people you just wind up & let go for an hour or so: brilliant but not much communion going on…
