      Yes, it seems much less daunting to create my own pattern after I watched your explanations. So far I only used bought patterns as is or "draped" directly on myself. Now I need a new draped skirt :D

    I love your method of sewing an invisible zipper. It seems quicker, to the point. Plus I love the design and how you alter your basic pattern block to get your new design. As someone mentioned you make adjusting a pattern less scary.

  • @nataliestanchevski4628
    @nataliestanchevski4628 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pattern manipulation is fascinating. The ability to transform a basic block with slashing and pivoting, turning darts into gathers or pleats, adding style lines and working around them instead of the edge of the block... you can make it into anything as long as you know how to pair the pattern with the right fabric. I love the skirt and blouse together.

    Love all that cut and tape! I'm from Evergreen! There is another costuber from Longmont. Hm, something in the water? I went to HS in Boulder and worked there for community theatre and loved the Shakespeare Fest so much that my mother sent me to England for part of HS. I still make history bounded Medieval for myself as well as 1916 and 1969. For my store I make all kinds of history bounding/vintage stuff. I can't follow patterns to save my life, so I appreciate your attitude toward flat pattern/design. I drape almost everything, but flat pattern works, too. I ran away from home to LA where I thought I would be a costumer for the movies--yeah, right. Worked in a sweat shop on the Strip, but learned a lot more tricks there.

    I love the paring of skirt and top. Sure, it´s nothing for grocery shopping and stuff. But it will be perfect for a dinner or a small festivity or theater or opera. And the skirt with a more subtle top or blouse could be worn for a meeting/date etc. where one could wear a little bit more drama.

      Thank you Katja! I am soooo dreaming of going to the theater or opera (or ballet, or symphony...) again one day when it's possible again 😍

    Just beautiful! You make it look so easy. I love the skirt and the "Blade Runner" top together. I'm a fan of any fabric that is iridescent!

    That fabric is so scrumptious! I had no idea that fabric.com was owned by Amazon. Good to know! Also, despite the fact that I've been sewing almost my entire life, it wasn't until watching your videos did I ever *get* how to do a lapped zipper. It almost makes me want to go seam rip all my old clothes and redo the zippers. But I'm not that crazy.

      Thank you! Alas surely no one is that mad, as seam ripping is too annoying 😅

    AHHHH I LOVE IT!!! So, about a year ago I commented on a video of yours asking about help on coming up with a good 30s/40s evening dress to wear, as I am a jazz singer in love with that era! I found this video pretty funny because that hell sleeve and asymmetric drape skirt combo at the end is almost IDENTICAL to an extant pattern I’m going to use for my evening dress (although floor length, of course, and maybe a slightly different drape). I’ve been waiting for a show-stopper fabric like the linen used here before I actually make it, and I can tell you, I don’t think it’s too much, I think all three elements combine for a truly breathtaking dress!!!
