  • The E5 "Hayabusa" Shinkansen (the Japanese term for a bullet train) is one of the newest high-speed electric trains in service in Japan, as well as being one of the most beautiful and distinctive in appearance.
    The "Hayabusa", or "Falcon", runs from Tokyo up through the northeast end of the island of Honshu, the largest of Japan's four islands, making the 419 mile journey three times a day.
    The E5 Hayabusa, in addition to being the latest Japanese prototype bullet train, is also the latest N scale Bullet train produced by Kato Japan, and is available now for special order at your local hobby store as both a starter set and a three-car base powered set with two available add-ons. All of these items can be upgraded with Kato's 11-211/11-212 Version 2 Interior Lighting Kits (as shown in the video above).
    10-001 : E5 "Hayabusa" N Scale Starter Set (Three cars with power pack and oval of track)
    10-857 : E5 "Hayabusa" three car powered base set
    10-858 : E5 "Hayabusa" three car unpowered add-on set A
    10-859 : E5 "Hayabusa" four car unpowered add-on set B
    The English language Japanese product page for the E5 "Hayabusa" can be located here: www.katomodels....
    Please contact your local hobby store if you are interested in the E5 or any other Japanese bullet trains or locomotives!

    I get a lot of Kato track and stuff from Ebay. PlazaJapan is a good source, they are a seller on Ebay. Takes 2 or 3 weeks to receive it, but they have very good prices. This is not an inexpensive hobby by any means though, lol.

      esp the part at .10 where the train scrapes the doors on the way out of the building. So prototypical.

    To those wondering about track, Peco flexitrack is perfectly good for Kato models to run on - mine have no problems.
    Only ONE complaint Kato - You make beautiful models - by far the best in their class which leave clunky old Hornby and Bachmann in the dust, BUT there is virtually NO HO gauge stuff even from Japan ( where I buy my Kato models from ) and there are no figures or scenics of a Japanese type and WHY, oh why don't you make an HO model of the Kiha 120 ??????? ( Kisuki line colours ) We don't all have ( or want ) high speed Hayabusa type lines on our layouts you know !

    • @StrikeFactor
      @StrikeFactor 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ***** This is just my opinion but reason why HO gauge is not that popular from N gauge is that HO gauge takes up lot more space in the house and Japanese houses isn't that big compare to US or other country. Some Japanese people do have a permanent layout, but majority of them just have temporary layout on the table or floors, which N gauge is more appropriate for that type of hobby. Second thing is that N gauge was popular before HO gauge did, so majority of them stayed with the N gauge, which is smaller and more affordable compare to HO gauge. So its better for KATO, and other companies to focus more on the N gauge where there are more customers compare to HO gauge.

      colliecandle hello I believe it to be more a business issue than anything else. The HO market is packed with companies with an array of accessories. They don't need to compete with that.

    I assume this is an N gauge model? I have the Kato E5 Shinkansen in HO scale. It took a couple years but I have the ten car set. Why are they so expensive, I saw the four car lead set online for $700.00+ wow.. The least they could do for us HO guys is build us a E6 Super Komachi & an JR 500 E7 I think it is? Anyway love this video. It's very upbeat.

    I have the 500 Shinkansen train which I really like, but this one looks pretty cool too. I like how this video was shot, very good cinematography and great soundtrack. How big is the track it's running on? Also, is the lighted station area sold like that, or do you have to add the lights? Very cool!

      KatoUSAinc Do you sell them in such a large radius or are the ones in this video custom made?

    • @KatoUSAinc
      @KatoUSAinc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bartybum
      Nothing in the video is custom - it's all standard stuff that we make and sell as a part of our standard track line.

    • @bartybum
      @bartybum 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KatoUSAinc What radius are those massive curves then? I can't find them anywhere on Kato's websites. They must be custom - they don't look like any of the concrete viaducts Kato sells.

    • @KatoUSAinc
      @KatoUSAinc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be moved, but for the most part they do not "function" (AKA pickup electricity). There are a few exceptions in some HO models made for the European market.

    Most in the Japanese train, unusual vehicle is the sky blue Oito Line.
    Once upon a time, is a line that has become a waste line.
    Past the main railway company of Japan was the Japanese National Railways. JNR by the administrative reform is now JR (privatization).
    Railways train was not a thing has been operating only in efficiency. Such as embodying the ideal that makes sense from the perspective of iron nerd, now in the vehicle that there can be no there was a lot to the whole country.
    However, a vehicle that specializes in technology and regions will be self-defeating not be obtained cost-effective.
    Appeared in the Japanese National Railways his later years, the vehicle [Oito Line Sky Blue]
