    Hey Ron,
Marvelous preview and being it's Kato I am certain it's a superb product.
This consist has a personal pride factor for me. My Great Uncle (John Lynch) was a U.S. Military RxR Fireman during WW1. When he was mustered out in 1919 he took a job at NYC and became the third Engineer of the 20th Century Ltd. in 1927, when the 4-8-4 Streamlined Hudson (designed by Dreyfuss) joined the fleet.
When the T series, by ALCO-GE Schenectady, N.Y., where being test driven by NYC, Uncle John was what in today's vernacular we would call it's Test Pilot. Aunt Gert just called him an "A"-hole.
But when the Steamers were being streamed out. Uncle John convinced my 1st Uncle Joe (Mara) to come on board as it's breakman. And the two were the team to match from the end of WW2 until Uncle John retire Dec. 2, 1967. The day the 20th Century Ltd. made it's last run from NYC's Grand Central, through Albany, N.Y. Union Station, to Chicago's La Salle Street Station.
For more than 45 years Uncle John NEVER had a station swap (of crew) until he made his last NYC - Alb. run. It was truly emotional for him and our entire family. But what made the moment even more memorable was that was the road trip that Uncle Joe got his Engineers Cap. Unbeknown to Uncle John, it was his nephew who was assigned to take out his first consist, replacing a legend, with a legend.
As I've said to you in the past I only run "N" scale as a background forced perspective loop. And I will be on the lookout for this MegaSet to add. However one of my first two "O" Gauge sets was the 20th Century Ltd. And currently I have four full 20th Century Ltd. "HO" consists of all three era's and two additional Locos (both are Streamlined Hudson Steamers). So I believe I know the true value of the Kato Set. My suggestion is to get an order in QUICK. They will be hot on the rails.

I've never been into model trains beyond a G scale set around my Christmas tree, but I saw this set and bought it. No background, no experience, and I have nothhing more than came in these boxes. I'm beginning to understand the depth of the rabbit hole I've started down. . .
I will say I'm super impressed on how smoothly and easily the cars roll. Next step is track and transformer.

Wow Ron. What a great set and what a perfect review. These are the kinds of reviews that I enjoy. I get bored with the rivet counters reviews. Who cares to see the car/loco being removed from the styro or the paperwork that comes with the unit. All BS. Yours is right to the point and then the unit is rolling. Love your style of review on this one

I'd like to buy a Kato N-gauge train set, but I want to buy a train set of a Japanese train (either a commuter rail train or a bullet one) simply because I find them interesting, and also because I'd like to run something different than what's usually run in North America.

Absolutely beautiful set. I have the main set, along with the four car add-on, and also the two engine set. However, I found that certain cars will not corner properly on 9-3/4 radius curves and jump track. This is due to the factory installed short coupler knuckles. Longer coupler replacements should resolve the problem. However, I prefer not to change their original design and will use this set as a display.

Good review, thanks. I saw one issue at 09:16 in the video. The kitchen dorm is put in the consist "backwards" The vestibule end should attach to the lounge otherwise there would be a vestibule interrupting the flow from the kitchen. The package(s) of the full set and the 4 car add on set have the consist correctly shown. BTW Kato also sells a standalone 4-4-2 Santa Fe "Regal Inn" that ran on the Century as well as the Broadway.

Thanks Ken. I agree, but the truth is I have a couple haters who 👎🏼 every video I publish right off the bat. Its part of the territory.

@@RonsTrainsNThings Life is to short. Wish I could get more ideas from your layout. I will be in a mythical part of the Midwest. However I want to model an area very similar to the George Town loop in Colorado. My son lives in Colorado and by being there I have seen a number of the train lover locations. Still have some to see. Thanks this is a pretty passenger train like all of the Kato’s.

Why should you take an interest in model trains as a hobby? you can focus your creative ideas on layouts. You learn patence. your wife or lady friend wont bother you if you let her shop You leaen not to let your dog chew up your train.!You can build a layout in any room of your house except the shower. You can be blessed with nerves of steel trying to put things together,.You will have a deeper appreciation for the ninga like qualitys the people have that made things this small!and may go insane doing it!
