Heads up for the Genesis version, it won't work with a 6 button controller unless you hold the MODE button on top of the controller while turning the system on. It was originally made for a 3 button controller and it doesn't respond properly to a 6 button. Thanks to this game i now know why the MODE button exists. 😂
Just found one of these in a bar in the middle of nowhere in Louisburg, PN. One of my favorite gaming experiences, only a quarter to play and an absolute blast!
The Namco one is harder to find, and quite a bit more expensive, I have that Namco variant and was lucky enough to score the one I have locally, and for $20 (it was going for around $80 on Ebay at the time). It was a late NES release, a reason it is expensive like a lot of other late era NES releases.
I like the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive versions of the Pac-Booster version of Ms. Pac-Man because they have better sounds, music and graphics. The NES version of the Pac-Booster version of Ms. Pac-Man is pretty good, but it's not 16-bit.
I started with the AVGN, but CGR & Undertow is most likely to have an entertaining and thorough review for review remembering and collecting most of my memories. :) I was more of an Astroids/Galaga fan in the 80s. I had ~Ms. Pac Man for the 2600, and got to around maze 100 on the easy setting (only 2 slow ghosts), but I never really appreciated the high-paced action of the arcade until I got Pac Man by Namco for Android. So satisfying to narrowly escape and nab that last pellet!
Every damn time. Click on video, hit pause before it starts, mute it, then skip to 20 seconds(now 35), slowly raise volume as annoying music fades out. Bam! Good review!
I'll always have a soft spot for the sit down tabletop Ms Pac Man arcade machine that was at a bar I used to go to. So much drunken Ms. Pac Man back then. =D
Tengen's version has a "mini maze" version in which you can see the entire screen. they also have a "giant maze" version in which the screen is even taller than the normal mazes. they also have a "Crazy" (I think that's what it was called) where every maze is played from normal, giant, mini, as well as a few others are played.
Despite the extra features of the Tengen version, I prefer the non-scrolling Namco version as it's important to be able to see the whole maze and ghosts at all times.
The space arcade is looking proper snazzy. I like how he always mentions that you should be able to find the arcade machines easy, but that is most certainly not the case where im from, youll be lucky to find a time crisis or house of the dead.
I have been scarred by console versions of Atari classics. I liked the Genesis version for the look and options (Hold Buttton for Dash :).. but one issue tormented me to no end: if I hold a direction down early, Ms. Pac Man will not automaticallly take the corner (I have to tap the direction when she is at the corner). This added so much aggrivation to an already challenging game, I frustratedly got rid of it. My Namco Android version works wonderfully, though :)
Hmm I quite like the NES D-Pad. It's far better than most of the PC Gamepad D-pads out there nowadays. Although it has the tendency to "wear out" a bit after years of use like all D-pads I guess. I got myself a pair of brand NEW NES original controllers fairly cheap, although I haven't used them as of yet.
always one of my favorite arcade games. Mostly because at the local roll-a-rink it was free to play. That and Karnov, I'll have to beat that one of these days.
I remember having this game and if I remember right you can play simultaneous 2 player, and as a bonus, during the 2 player simultaneous, after a certain level, if both players bump in the tunnel when both are totally off screen, a baby pac-man arrives and runs around the screen, and if you chomp it you get 10,000 points. it was the tengen version.
Are you using the 60 in 1 board in your Xevious cabinet? I was thinking about getting one to put in an old cab I have and I heard Xevious on the 60 in 1 had sound glitches. That would be a major deal breaker for me since I love Xevious.
Am I the only one that thinks that their headquarter is the same headquarter that launches missiles to defend the earth like in Missile Command when Mark was about to push that button at the intro?
Totally unexpected! Before this video I would bet that the Nintendo's licenced Namco's version was better than the Atari's version... Great job, Atari! Maybe next time you should also agree to import the Famicom in the USA...
Pac-Man the game I first played 30 something years ago and I still suck at it. In fact the only version of it that I was any good was the tabletop version. :(
I was so disappointed at Ms Pacman on NES. I agree the Namco plays crappy but the scrolling on the Tengen really bums me out. Did you say you can choose the an option on the Tengen for full screen??? I'm getting it out now. BTW, there are a lot of good versions, Atari 7800 and Atari 400, but the PSone is the most like the arcade - hard.
Omg, you are right. Well of course you are. How long have I had the Tengen version and not known about the 'mini' version. And 'Strange' .... I mean there's nothing wrong with a little 'strange', right? Praise the lord.
If by "Others" you mean Xbox and maybe Playstation, I could see where you're coming from, but you know what's the best D-pad I've ever used? It was the one on the Avenue Pad 6 for the PC engine Turbo Duo! The Super Nintendo is a close second to me... You know, I used to swear by the Super Nintendo controller, there was not a single controller I liked more than it... Until I used the Avenue Pad 6, that one is just incredible!
The Tengen version was also ported to the Genesis and SNES, and is arguably even better there.
Heads up for the Genesis version, it won't work with a 6 button controller unless you hold the MODE button on top of the controller while turning the system on. It was originally made for a 3 button controller and it doesn't respond properly to a 6 button. Thanks to this game i now know why the MODE button exists. 😂
MS Pacman on SNES is actually way better than the arcade!
Good
Sega might sound a little bit better
@rickmartinez3268 Uhn-Uhn!
Just found one of these in a bar in the middle of nowhere in Louisburg, PN. One of my favorite gaming experiences, only a quarter to play and an absolute blast!
I see them in pizza places, movie theaters, laundromats, but always combined with Galaga.
There was an option to play this game as an extra feature in Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, for the PSX. That's where I played it for the first time.
Did not even mention the multiplayer in the Tengen Version.
Cybershroom ever seen that video where james rolfe and mike matel play the multiplayer version?
I had the Tengen version. Never knew there was another NES version. Love your videos

Tengen makes the great nes game port especially Tetris . Great review mark keep them coming.
the two player mode in the sega genesis version of ms. pac-man was amazing. :D

Epic theme song, gets me pumped for the incoming review everytime.
Loved the new intro narration!
Never knew there were two versions on the NES. Thanks for the info.
E
I remember I used to have a plug and play Ms PacMan! I wonder what ever happened to it?
Every damn time. Click on video, hit pause before it starts, mute it, then skip to 20 seconds(now 35), slowly raise volume as annoying music fades out. Bam! Good review!
That depends there's the speed hack that makes the arcade version,of ms.pac-man play faster.Tegen version is based of the original release.
Namco version is rare especially in good condition
I'll always have a soft spot for the sit down tabletop Ms Pac Man arcade machine that was at a bar I used to go to. So much drunken Ms. Pac Man back then. =D
The Tengen version is labeled as "Unl" when downloaded as a rom.
I'm fairly certain the Namco version was tuned to be more friendly for the 5-10 age range. They're both fairly well suited for their target audience.
Tengen's version has a "mini maze" version in which you can see the entire screen. they also have a "giant maze" version in which the screen is even taller than the normal mazes. they also have a "Crazy" (I think that's what it was called) where every maze is played from normal, giant, mini, as well as a few others are played.
Whats the synth song after the intro
Digging the new intro mark
I'm glad, that there is a ms pacman / galaga arcade machine on kinopalatsi movie theater in kaisaniemi. Greetings from finland.
Is the tengen version on nes the same as the atari version on the 7800?
Despite the extra features of the Tengen version, I prefer the non-scrolling Namco version as it's important to be able to see the whole maze and ghosts at all times.
The reds are dark on the tengen version
Your arcade version seems so fast!!
Is it overclocked?
The space arcade is looking proper snazzy. I like how he always mentions that you should be able to find the arcade machines easy, but that is most certainly not the case where im from, youll be lucky to find a time crisis or house of the dead.

Love the new intro! =D Review everything!
The tendency version also has a two player co op option
do u know how many Xs I've played Ms. Pacman?? Absolutely countless. I liked the GENESIS version.
Does anyone the name of that funky disco-like beat that's played sometimes?
Why in the tengen version blinky's like noob saibot from mortal kombat cause they're both way too dark to see but their eyes
always one of my favorite arcade games. Mostly because at the local roll-a-rink it was free to play. That and Karnov, I'll have to beat that one of these days.
+DegenerateProduction ur picture is one of the best things ever..
I asked before hopefully you can answer, how did you suddenly get a full arcade?
I have the Tengen version on my Sega Mega Drive. It was the first Pac Man game I played... and the last. Enjoyable.
I really like the new intro!
Your comment + your avatar = Priceless.
Are you using the 60 in 1 board in your Xevious cabinet? I was thinking about getting one to put in an old cab I have and I heard Xevious on the 60 in 1 had sound glitches. That would be a major deal breaker for me since I love Xevious.
Does anyone know the difference between Pac Man and Mrs. Pac Man? I was always a Galaga guy and they seem about the same to me.
the game you are thinking about is "Pac-Mania". my second favorite Pac-man game. Super-Pac-Man is my favorite
I played both versions of the original Pac-Man and found them both to be the exact same game. It's strange how different these ports are.
I played Pac-Man Battle Royale at an arcade last week it's pretty insane.
Ms. Pac-man from Namco : simple
Ms. Pac-man from Tengen : awesome
I loved the intro.
Love the intro!
I'm younger but ms.pacman was the first game I ever played it was a the barber shop in 2012
Elijah Pippin i got a ms pac-man arcade at a nearby laundromat
Soo what is the difference between Ms. Pac Man and Pac Man games?
Always love Ms. Pac Man!
Aw the Tengen version's sounds are so cute
Am I the only one that thinks that their headquarter is the same headquarter that launches missiles to defend the earth like in Missile Command when Mark was about to push that button at the intro?
That intro is more epic than the epilogue from lord of the rings
Damn, I'm sure it's been said before but Mark plays a great game of Pac-Man.
Awesome thanks 👍👍
Wow I did not know there was that big a difference between the two. It's a huge difference.
I still like the Atari 7800 version probably the best though.
What, no review for the Ms. Pacman for the Atari Lynx?!
Love this endings!!!
Totally unexpected! Before this video I would bet that the Nintendo's licenced Namco's version was better than the Atari's version... Great job, Atari! Maybe next time you should also agree to import the Famicom in the USA...
Tengen also did the good Nes version of Tetris.
The fact you care about everything makes me feel. I feel about everything.
I love Mrs pacman on the Sega Genesis and the sega game gear.
I loved the death sound of the Atari 2600 version which none of them have :)
This game for NES was very very well done.
Damn great review! Thank you!
Pac-Man the game I first played 30 something years ago and I still suck at it. In fact the only version of it that I was any good was the tabletop version. :(
Looks like cutman threw his first 2 blades only to never return, and became pacman and ms.pacman. Why do you think cutman is frowning in mm1
I was so disappointed at Ms Pacman on NES. I agree the Namco plays crappy but the scrolling on the Tengen really bums me out. Did you say you can choose the an option on the Tengen for full screen??? +Missteach by Touch playing the Namco port with the NES Advantage really helps.
What is the difference, then?
Damn Mark is a beast at pac-man
nice new intro
Weird, you'd think the official Namco version would play much better. The scrolling on the Tenegen one is pretty annoying, tho.
Review the vita
I think that D-pads are far superior to Joysticks and analog sticks to play almost anything... I'm really used to them...
Michirin9801 same here! Especially Nintendo D-pads. SEGA's is good but the others don't feel as accurate.
I'm adding this one to the droid collection
My friend has a ms pacman machine in his house. He's awesome.
how much did it cost him?
Idk I'll have to ask him
Cool. Can I come over? ;-)
I wonder what billy Mitchell thinks about this :)
Wow, and I didn't think the intro could get any worse. I guess I'll have to start skipping to to 0:35 instead of 0:20 now.
Which old intros? The intros get changed almost every season.
Ms. Pac-Man is cute! I think it's the bow.
Tengen and Namco were both Atari companies, and their Pac Man games are identical.
Better yet play it on MAME!!!
Arcade PERFECT!!
Best 8 bit version was hands down the Atari 7800 version.
i see a lot of ms.pacman machines
hes very good at this.
I believe you're thinking of Pacmania.
DO A TMNT OUT OF THE SHADOWS REVIEW!
But ofc the Advantage controller for the NES is still bettter to be used with arcade style games like Ms. Pac-Man =)
Still like the Mega Drive version the best
Classic Sonic Games I the Room.
Didn't realize the Pacman series was copied and spammed so much back then, just had them for the 2600 myself.
i miss the old intro :(
Think the Atari 2600 version beats both the NES versions.
Dat intro.
nice room :)
i remember this game. it stole all of 50 bucks in quarters from my pocket- IN ONE SITTING!!!!
:D it's the old edit station :D
i prefer "Menstral Miss Pac Man" better lol but hey to each his own ... *turns around to ghosts and screams "WHAT! WHAT! WHAT!*
