The E1M1's music is a reimagination of No Remorse by Metallica. Behind the crooked cross main riff is in the E3M3' music. There are some Black Sabbath like drum themes so it is there but not that way that you thought.
You don't have to sign in. Don't even have to put in Airplane mode. When asked to sign in just hit B to go back and you can select a campaign. I agree with you on Doom3. It's one of my favorite Doom games; actually probably #2 next to the original Doom. I love the atmosphere!
Update on our new classic DOOM releases: The BethesdaNet login requirement was included for the Slayers Club, to reward members for playing the classic DOOM games. The login should be optional, and we are working on changing the requirement to optional now.

It says in the xbox store description that "Online and a Bethesda account to is REQUIRED to play the game" Not in those direct words probably, but similar.

I just bought DOOM 1 and tested it on Xbox, you still need to login/create an account. But the game is a bit clunky, someplaces you get stuck in the graphic. The music is not only slow, but sometimes it is "glitchy", the speed of the game also seem to not be stable. It is a long while since I played DOS DOOM, but the monsters behave different than the old 360 ports atleast, lighting is different. There are no leaderboards either, that really dissapointed me, I am never at the top of the leaderboard, but you could track your progress on each level to get 100% on everything or try to get a better score using the leaderboards. I only ran through Episode 1 though. Only Ultraviolence. They hopefully fixes a lot of this stuff, it is very unstable how the game is running in terms of speed, strange, the other ports have been perfect. The demo reel also shows full screen without HUD, but you cannot choose to play in full screen/without HUD, like you can in DOS/PC DOOM, that is something I would like to do. As it is now it seems to need some tuning here and there...
I bought all 3 old Dooms when I got home from Quakecon Friday night. Played II immediately and had to log in. I pulled out 3 at Quakecon the next day without internet connected and it has yet to ask me to log in or even mention it, at the con or at home, with or without internet. I'm confused...
And besides, it's not just dark, it's dark by design. It's supposed to be dark to give that horror atmosphere. I love the game for the atmosphere. Music and darkness is what sold me on Doom 64. I am glad it's coming to new consoles - finally. I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

Music is slower in DOOM when the engine is run synced to a 60Hz instead of 70! A lot of ports have this issue, even fanmade ones if memory serves. It's originally a DOS VGA game and VGA mode 13h has 70Hz retrace rate. You should check whether the game itself is running slower, such as testing your movement speed. The thing with being a VGA centric game is that it updates its internal state at 35Hz normally - half the VGA retrace rate, as they thought that was the highest performance computers could achieve for a while, and so that with slower computers, they wouldn't be spending as much time with world update than would be the case if it ran at 70. But this makes me wonder whether the update clock is fixed to 30Hz in the port instead!

I bought all 3. I LOVE all 3 of these games, and to get all 3 for around $20 is a steal. Now I have Doom 1, 2, 3 and Doom 2016 on my Switch. I am indeed Doomed, and I’m LOVING every second of it.

The developers were fans of bands such as Slayer, Metallica and Pantera which they used in theme. And Metallica played the Doom theme Live on stage with heavy guitars and it rocked. I'm a metalhead as well and am excited that Doom trilogy is on the Switch.
It's really great in its own right. It's only natural that after 10 years plus, it would be surpassed by 2016 Doom, but it's more horror oriented and more story driven so that could appeal to some depending on taste, but yeah it's awesome.
I remember playing doom 1 & doom 2 back in 1999, man it was scary but addicting, then i remember seeing footage about doom 3 on xbox as a mark of the 10 year anyversarry celibration of doom, i was blown away by it’s graphics,now we’re 16 years futher from 2003 and it’s shocking to see how doom 3 (what was running on a once very very advanced console) now just runs smoothly on the switch at even 1080p,this is mind blowing.
Listened to the music and noticed it was a little slower. Pulled it up on my PC and can tell the difference. Switch has the first level song at 200 BPM. Original PC is 222 BPM. It's still the same song. Minor gripe.

I'm trying hard to listen to the music during gameplay and it really doesn't sound that much different from the original PC game. The BGM is about the same speed.

I played thru Doom 3 and it has lots of frame drops unfortunately - maybe Switch is just too weak to handle a locked 60fps. Not sure if they're using some kind of anti-aliasing, with all those jaggies. Still pretty good overall. Hope we get Quake 4.
Can you sprint in Doom 1 and 2 like how the PC was able to? Because if not there’s a slight problem in doom 2 then where you have to sprint into that side part of the building

Because it's different. Doom 1 and 2 were handled by Bethesda. Doom 3 is handled by panic button. They don't have real drm in their games.

After playing Doom with the Brutal Doom mod, I can't get back to vanilla Doom anymore. I wished the console version had access to this mod too.

They said the online login was an accident. It’s going to be fixed with a patch soon.

I had BFG Edition for XBox 360, and beat it 1 through 3. 3 was really fun, and 2 was the hardest I think. I really liked 1 and 3.

The mod Brutal Doom is incredible. Shame that can't be included. I like to play that whilst listening to Chimera and Lamb of God. So good
