That night pretty much cemented the unflappable notion that I physically NEED to be a professional musician in my soul. It was amazing. If you haven't seen him live yet...you really must. The "she" in the story was Sam Phillips; they toured together in the 90's. She is just as enigmatic as Bruce.
Make's me think of my good friend who went to council in the 70's, always said he'd grab a six-pack of Old Milwaukee, sun glasses, and a Lawn Chair.
Brother Dave hit that nail on the head. I recall Bruce telling the story of him and Sam when he played the Birchmere in the 90s.
That somebody who responded to him that way was none other than Sam Phillips, who toured with him in the early 90's.
I thought it was Shawn Colvin that he was talking with...and she sang the background vocals on the studio recording
