So seeing this guy help her learn the ways of shooting, brought back many memories. I loved how she said "The rifle hurts", after shooting for 6 years of service and, also assisting other Marines who havent really shot as much, was a little laughter to me. My favorite weapon I got to shoot ever, which I wish this range had, was the m240b machine gun. One of my grand daughters reacted very much the same as you did. At the end of the day she decided it was not for her but she was thankful for the experience. Shooting is not for everyone and I don't force anyone to shoot, but it is a good experience to try at least once, to gain a little bit of respect for what shooting really is. I've shot in defense of our country, to feed my family and just for the fun of it. I don't expect any of my kids to become hunters, I don't even expect them to become shooters, but those who like it, I'm proud to buy them their first gun to visit the range with when ever I can take them.

Excellent bursts! Most people are like the other auto shooter, who doesn't handle the trigger properly.
Your shoulder hurts because you weren't pressing the rifle back firmly enough.
All of that backblast from the .50 was because you're in a confined space, that gave the muzzle blast nowhere to go. If you shoot it outdoors, the blast goes to the sides.

As a ‘young’ experienced firearm enthusiast and trained shooter in Classes/ levels from 1 to 3, you overall did pretty well for your first time shot. I’ve been shootings firearms ever since I was 8 years old and my first one believe it or not, was a Daniel Defense modified AR-15 model Semi-Automatic select fire w/ full-automatic configuration. If you are into guns or are just getting into firearms as an interest, learn how to Identify your firearms, learn the controls, basics, where for point grip, and overall safety. The ‘pink colored’ M4 model is just like any other basic AR-15. Only difference in simple words is the M4’s are Military, and the AR-15’s are literally just Civilian Rated/ marked M4’s without the select fire capability like full-auto and burst fire. Burst fire is a configuration where it allows a firearm (pistol, DMR, AMR, etc) to fire three rounds at once in a single squeeze of the trigger. Although, some people and the idiotic people say AR means *Assault Rifle* Or *American Rifle* Due to being Armalite being based in The great U.S. of A, You could if you wanted to call a AR-15 an American Rifle 15. Armalite is the maker of the great and one of the best known dual-held semi-automatic rifles in the entire world as the AR-15 so *Armalite* is where AR comes from. So, you have Armalite-15. Then that black ‘smack down’ chamber SMG (Sub-machine gun) sub meaning or relating to sub as in *sub caliber* pretty much just means it holds ammunition that a Handgun would likely be configured with. So you have the basic
.45, 9MM, 10mm, 40 caliber, etc. Sub also comes from a term to describe a particular firearm that is lightweight, small or medium, tactical and capable of CQC (Close Quarters Combat) and a step down from actual machine guns. Sub literally just defines a firearm with handgun ammunition, fired from hip (mostly) or shoulder, and the concept of less power than a normal machine gun. Some little history for ya, John Thompson is the one of the best and most notorious gun ‘inventors’ of all time. Mr. Colt in my eyes, is a step behind him even though colt made some fabulous firearms that I’m in love with but no, John Thompson is the reason for the definition of *Sub-Machine Gun* any of you play call of duty or have played the WW2 based call of duty’s and like the Thompson? Well, John invented the Thompson submachine gun and was mostly notable in World War Two and Vietnam. Yes, it was used in Vietnam. It’s just not known. It was also used notoriously by Mafias, gang members, (gangsters) and North American crime rings throughout the United States. But anyway, that black SMG is known as the H&K MP5. H&K is the manufacturer meaning Heckler & Kotch. Very famous and well known German gun manufacturer. (Thank you Germans btw) the MP5 is used WORLD WIDE. British Special Forces (SAS), Green berets, Navy Seals, Law Enforcement, Military, I mean literally everyone uses it lol. Even the Goddamn Secret Service still has the MP5 in service. The MP5 also has more variants such as the MP5K and the MP5SD. The 5k is more compact and close quarters. Has a removable quick stock and shorter barrel. They typically use 9MM. The SD version is a factory suppressed model used for Special Ops or… uh Killers I guess lol. It comes factory with a integrated suppressed barrel making the gun quiet as can be. They typically are calibrated in .45 or 9MM. Rarely 10mm. Hope this all helps if you decided to read it lol.

Damn! You’re a trooper, asking for the biggest guns on the rack and putting what we call a “bug hole” (multiple rounds through the same hole) on that .50 target.
Nothing but respect, and that range handled everything exactly how they should have. Thanks for sharing :) 🎩👌🏼

Shooting guns is such a fun hobby. It's one where the concept is simple enough for most people to pick up quickly so they can have a good time, but the skill ceiling is high enough that to be VERY good takes lots of practice and familiarity with the weapon used. My 15 year old niece never shot a gun until I took her out to my range and she fell in love with pistol shooting. I thought she'd like rifles more, but oddly she really liked handguns over rifles... She ended up burning through 300 rounds in my Walther before I even realized it.

Love to see women trying out guns.
It's honestly a little sad that so many are afraid of the one tool that can single-handedly do the most to ensure their safety.
Just remember it's important to get educated about firearms if you're going to own one.
PS - For those who look into it, please remember that carrying a gun means you have a *responsibility to avoid and deescalate conflicts* , not a license to start them.

Great job! I'm surprised that you shot the AR-50 a second time! Once is usually enough to scare the crap out of people who are not accustomed to shooting high caliber rifles. I've lived in Texas most of my life and was raised shooting guns since I was about 10. It is a fun hobby, and may just save your life one day.

  • @cpljimmyneutron

So, I clicked on this because the title and thumbnail do not match, but yes, you did eventually shoot a machine gun.
What I find surprising, is that is a weird setup for an mg42. I am a former Saw and MG240 gunner. Also to other comments, there are no miniguns in this video. FYI, miniguns are actually BIG, and usually mounted to aircraft.
To Emily, great job going outside your comfort zone and learning that there is absolutely fun to be had with safe firearm use.
To the instructor, I love how you braced her so she could learn how the weapon kicked. I hate it when someone just hands a person a firearm that the don't know how to control and usually bad things happen.

I have been shooting for over 30 years and I am an average shot. I trained my wife how to shoot and the 2nd time we went shooting she was shooting as good as I was with a pistol. They say women tend to shoot better with pistols because us men tend to man-handle them too much, women absorb the recoil better.

Very good and patient young man as an instructor turned her fear into a fun experience. Also I liked that he sorrected her on what AR stands for as well. After all she did get to shoot both Semi and full auto's so she should have a basic understanding of the difference in operation between the two and the difference in rate of fire on your ability to hit and stay on target now. For a first time shooter she was not that bad really.
