Nicely done. Great instructor too. I’ve instructed many new shooters and many of them shoot very well from the start. There’s a lot going on inside your head when you’re instructing, beyond what people see. You’re observing the shooter and helping improve their comfort, confidence, knowledge and marksmanship. But you’re also keeping a very close eye on safety. Not just for your shooter, but all over the range when there are others present.
Been shooting at Shady Oaks Gun Range since I was 9. These guys are the best. Their rules are always iffy around shotguns which is a minor annoyance considering the friendly service you receive and the willingness of the staff to help you fix your gun when you can't exactly figure out what's wrong. One of the staff members giot some gun oil from cabinet and steelbrushed then oiled a rusted piece of the assembly that was jamming my AR. Amazing people.
@Vladpryde well i went with pdx1 defender round which have 3 buck and 1 slug. They said it was fine. Next time i went with same ammo, but was denied, then i went with buck only and the guy said it's good, and another guy said it wasn't. Best bet is indeed slug only, but depends who's working i guess.
I am Asian, I have 2 daughters. They are well trained in shooting, safe gun handling, and defensive use of firearms. I don't recall any of my daughters ever behaving like these two at the range. They are in their early to mid 20s now. So my daughters are in the same age group as these two.

As an instructor myself (long guns mainly), no doubt the instructor was excellent, but if I were him I would have used less gun jargon - magazine well, chamber, etc. For first-timers, that can be confusing or worse frustrating ("Should I know what that means?"). Y'all did great, now keep it up! I instructed a lot of Women on Target programs (NRA-sponsored shooting programs for new female shooters). We would start out in the morning with .22LR pistols like y'all did, but by the afternoon we broke out the "fun" .22s - ARs. The traditional AR caliber is technically 5.56mm, which is .223, but some of the ladies would be nervous because they are LOUD. I always told them the AR is like my dachshunds: very loud, but sweet little pups. Most ladies would take the first shot almost flinching, look over at me with shock on their face at how tame it was, and then just go to town! Always a great feeling for an instructor to see students have fun in a safe environment. As an aside, my gun club in NC had two Australian members. They would fly to Charlotte twice a year to shoot, using a friend's guns. They were awesome.

For even more context on Australia’s gun laws: nerf guns are considered firearms and therefore illegal everywhere except I think NT and QLD. And even there you need to have it imported by an arms dealer, get a sporting exemption and a license, register it at your nearest police station, and store it in a gun safe

Now people who have no reason to own a gun is going to have a hard time getting one, and that's a good thing, but if you drive more than 4 hours out of a major city I guarantee every house you see will have a shotgun in it.

22lr is the best for starters, I highly recommend it for someone who is just getting into firearms. I would not recommend someone using a higher caliber for the first timers. Lower recoil, the better. The same goes for long guns. Start small. For pistols, if they still make them, the GSG 1911 pistol would be best, or the sig sauer Mosquito (I believe it is discontinued) Rifles, Ruger 10/22, S&W M&P 15-22 Sport, Marlin Model 60, or any 22 rifles is best. Shotguns (no, I wouldn't recommend for first-timers) Steven seems to be a great instructor, so props to him! (Yes, I'm speaking as a certified instructor)

I've been instructing firearms since 1999 and almost always started people in the classroom with the basic handling skills before progressing to the range for live-fire. I have been shooting for almost 50 years. Never actually been inside a shooting range.
Do they make you only shoot slugs out of your shotgun? I've been to indoor ranges that require that, it's annoying as hell.

I shoot a lot. Have most of my life. But you two beautiful ladies made shooting SSSSSOOOOO MUCH FUN in this video. Steven gave some great instruction, and you two ladies did a great job following and applying those instructions and staying safe the whole time. Great Shooting!

Good job. It's not easy instructing - or learning - the basics on a live range with hearing protection on. I've been instructing firearms since 1999 and almost always started people in the classroom with the basic handling skills before progressing to the range for live-fire. Good job following Steven's instructions and taking it seriously while still having fun.
