Very good coverage! The work is going on very slow, it may not start before July 2028

Thanks for the update on Mumbai Metro Line 2B, Tejas.
At 2:04 about the order of the 4 phases you mentioned, it's the other way round: the 4th phase you mentioned is actually the 1st phase (Diamond Garden to Mandale) which will be inaugurated first along with Mandale depot. 2nd phase will be Chembur to MTNL 3rd phase will be from MTNL to BKC 4th phase will be the remaining + new Cheetah Camp metro station (approved extension from Mandale to Cheetah Camp).
They have announced that the Diamond Garden to Mandale phase which has now begun roof work will be finished by end of 2024 and inaugurated by April 2025.

Any idea by which month/year all phases will be operational?

@@Abbeeer All phases of the 23.69 km Mumbai Metro Line 2B (D.N. Nagar to BKC to Mandale) are "supposed" to finish by mid-2026 (all phases were "originally supposed" to be inaugurated at end of 2024 as correctly mentioned in this older video by Tejas) but considering delays and bottlenecks over the last 4 years, one can't trust any announced dates.
It is a "wait and watch" for the completion of each phase.
Phase 1 (From Mandale to Diamond Garden) has no obstruction or clearance issues, so it is going on in full speed. Mandale depot work is going to get completed very soon in 2024.
Phase 2 (Chembur to MTNL) still has sections in Kurla where buildings and shops need to be demolished for the route and pillars (if the demolitions don't get delayed, then work will speed up).
Lot of work remains in Phase 3 and Phase 4 so they will focus on inauguration of Phase 1 and the double decker Mandale depot (to store all the trains for Metro Line 2B and temporarily store trains of new Metro Lines under construction.)
In all Metro constructions in Mumbai, MMRDA is no longer trying to inaugurate the full line at once but launching it "phase by phase" as they receive sanctioned funds from funding agencies, banks and government.
The depot and closest section connecting to depot usually start first as it's necessary for storing trains and for train shuttles.
Earlier, Metro Line 4 and Metro Line 6 were the fastest until 2023 - both had completed several stretches of construction at high speed but both ran into problems with land for their depots, logistical hurdles, planning and shifting of stations, and also financing issues of few project contractors.
Right now, Metro Line 9, Metro Line 5 and Metro Line 2B are picking up speed so if there are no more delays or bottlenecks ahead, you can expect progress in the phases of all these 3 lines and also in the work that has started on Metro Line 12.
NOTE: there is also a "possibility" that after Phase 1 of Metro Line 2B and Mandale depot is completed and running, they will try to connect the entire line of 2B (track only) (i.e. Mandale→BKC→DN Nagar/Andheri West) to Line 2A (Andheri West to Dahisar) and work on the incomplete 2B stations later - in phases.
MMRDA needs the entire track line to connect currently running trains on Line 2A & Line 7 to the Line 2B Mandale depot. There is a small depot in Malvani (Malad) that currently stores and services all the running trains of Line 2A and Line 7. Once the Mandale depot opens and the full track is connected, Line 2A trains will be stored and serviced in the Line 2B Mandale depot. As pending work on the 2B stations finishes, they will be inaugurated one by one or in stretches. This is done in some lines of Delhi Metro, Kolkata Metro & Namma Metro (Bangalore) where Start and End stations are constructed first, then the full track is connected by pillars and girders, and work for stations🚏in between is done and opened in phases - Metro trains run from first station to last station but only stop at completed stations.
Whether Metro Line 2B uses the MMRDA "phase by phase" model OR switches to "first to last connection" model to fully utilize the huge Mandale depot, we will have to wait and watch.
      Hope this explanation helped.

@@jamesgeorge777 Thanks a lot for such a detailed answer. Gave a lot of clarity. Can't tell you how eagerly I am waiting for this line to start. Travelling from Govandi to Andheri via Vadala Road is a lot of pain. Let's hope there are no further delays.

Why are you telling us about cost, ridership etc.? This video is to inform us about the status and when it is going to open, which has not been touched upon at all. Please stop posting videos which are useless.
