    This completely shows why I love this channel more than any regular news outlet. Where else can an openly gay man have a respectful conversation with someone who is opposed to gay marriage? If he was on CNN, people would've been yelling over him to the point where he wouldn't even be able to finish his point.

    "Those who are kind to the cruel are cruel to the kind" is a pretty damn good saying.

    • @Nyestro
      @Nyestro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's important to note that it doesn't say, "be cruel to the cruel." That's one of the biggest issues I see, we respond with hatred towards hatred, and that does nothing but fuel the fire. Of course, I'm talking about interpersonal relationships. Not "macro" 1000 year old animosities. Applying that phrase to your own personal life would be a mistake, imo.

      If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. (Proverbs 25: 21-22)
      I guess the symbolic in this verse, is to treat even your enemy with kindness and by doing so, he will have a hard time continue to be your enemy.

      @@Uriel-Septim. That's exactly why the enemy is walking all over Europe and it's what Trump is fighting against. Helping your enemy makes no sense at all, unless you're goal is to lose.

      @@ecall1771 I agree, to an extent.
      “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.”
      ― Edmund Burke.
      But there are different ways to fight evil.
      "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."
      Also, don`t take everything literally, to treat those, who think that they are your enemy with grace, is not the same as doing nothing when you face evil, but it is not always a good idea to fight fire with fire, sometimes you need water (the opposite of it) like good is the opposite of evil.

      That's not hard to believe, just look at ancient Greece and Rome.
      Before the Judeo-Christian idea of heterosexuality/homosexuality, people were much more sexually fluid.
      There was no differentiation between straight and gay, only penetrator and penetrated. It was normal for men to have lovers of both genders.
      It's only after the psychological conditioning of Christianity that we see the emergence of rigid sexual preferences.

      Awesome is the right word, because no other way can I have any chance to convince you, or, the converse where you have a real chance to convince me. And that convincing is in fact, so important. What if I am truly wrong and I truly need to be straightened out? No other way can that happen. And that's why any President should be that way and seems like few are. The idea a President being Mother or Father of a nation is a great idea, from either party.

      Jeff Tappan I agree with you but I go a step farther in that I don’t want my children being taught something that I disagree with. And I believe that works both ways. I think part of what’s wrong with our current education system is schools spending too much time indoctrinating children with stuff that shouldn’t even be taught in school in the first place. Schools need to stick to academics and
      arts, music, and sports. Leave everything else to the parents who should be the ones to teach their own children about the non-academic stuff, passing on their values and beliefs. That’s how the founders of this country were educated and they grew up to create what is arguably the greatest country to ever exist. Schools need to quit wasting time, effort and money on all this social engineering stuff. Marriage whether it be heterosexual or gay or lesbian or whatever doesn’t need to be taught to 3rd graders or any other age kids for that matter. Stick to reading, writing, maths, science, physical fitness (sports/exercise).
      Now I’m just rambling lol
      I will say I liked your comment so please don’t take my comments as some how disagreeing with you.

    I love your show, Dave!
    And I'ved loved Dennis Prager since he happened to be on daytime TV in the early 90's and I happened to catch it.
    The radio show is great. But it has to be broken up into snippets. The "hard commercial break" seems to ruin the flow.
    Hearing Dennis explain in an uninterrupted format is a treat.
    Your interviews give your guests the opportunity to go into the nuances. Thank God (or the Flying Spaghetti Monster) that people are beginning to have space to touch on these complex issues and nuances.
    It didn't occur to me that Cenk's anti-Israel rhetoric and partnering with Al Jazeera, might have driven popular hosts such as yourself. I just recently found out that Pakman left TYT, too.
    I that you, Dave, are developing a finesse to challenge your guests without being an asshole. If you are once in while, you seem to allow the guest time to respond.
    I'm just really excited to see this "New Media" creating something TV and radio could never offer. Something that we've been starved of and an underserved market of viewers. Look at Fox News! They hit the jackpot in terms of an underserved market of audience.
    Hold on! TH-cam suggested an interview I missed somehow! I'm glad to throw a little bit to your Patreon!

      I hope this guy's grasp of science is better than his grasp of history. Trotsky was certainly not the "father of Bolshevism" , he was in fact a late convert to Bolshevism (as most people in high school history class know) and using Stalin as an example of how the "left" argues is a little odd and while no fan of Stalin, calling Trotsky a "Fascist" is not that far off the mark since Lenenism/Bolshevism is considered a right wing anomaly of socialism. The "left" is "fearful" of the religious right? only politically and because of the huge amount of money they raise and donate to goofy right wing causes...and on and on..im not sure he said one thing that was accurate. Stupidity at this depth is painful to listen to but to realize this is a guy with enough clout to get on the show.

      You’re quoting the new testament, apparently you haven’t read the old testament. There is a remnant of jews. Not only that but as it is said over and over in the old testament. “God is not a man that he will change.” They are his chosen people. Go read Isaiah 49 14-16 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
      And my Lord has forgotten me.”
      15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child,
      And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
      Surely they may forget,
      Yet I will not forget you.

    • @zloidooraque0
      @zloidooraque0 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      English is not my first or even second language. If you attack my grammar you have a weak voice for your cause lol. Irony, relentless bitch. You just take one typo (which obviously IS a typo, you can see 3 words later) and construct some weird theory about a person I am. Well done.
      I've attacked his ideas by saying he doesn't know biology and history. If you can't see it (and now I attack your level of education, not your person), you are ignorant.
      If you expect I will bash word by word the video that is 80 minutes long, you are overestimating your importance.
      And I will repeat: what prager says on the matter of biology and history is utter nonsense. I have no problem attacking his person because of that. I call stupid people stupid, simple as that. If I were in discussion with him personally, I'd explain him why what he says is not correct from the science perspective, not calling him names, but here I'm not bond or required to speak as I would talk to him, because I'm not talking to him in the first place, if you are not noticing it. And he'll never read it too. Or, if he will, he will not free himself from delusions, and I can even explain you why.
      Altho, if you are insisting he is well educated, I will take my time and find you two episodes where he is clearly wrong (one biology, one history). I will show you scientific proof of that. But sorry, in that case I oblige you to acknowledge prager and you are not educated and apologize. You decide.

      As he points out, unless he's a working biologist, his opinion on abiogenesis is completely irrelevant to his skill and talent in other fields.
      And re: the left reducing opposition to a label of abuse, he's pretty much spot on, except sometimes they use two words. Mao did it with "capitalist-roaders" (for the more doctrinaire communists who didn't like his cult of personality), Stalin with "Trotskyites" for any of his enemies (even some who worked with him to remove Trotsky), etc etc.

I've never met a person on the left who wasn't a libertarian socialist or anarchist or less often someone who vltes democrat but dislikes the imperialism. A lot of people on the right argue the straw man in my experience. The arguments are so dumbed down so often. The nazis hated marxists for obvious reasons. The nazis said the marxists wanted equality and democracy and weren't racists.

    • @prepperjonpnw6482
      @prepperjonpnw6482 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gerald Sproehlich It’s a rather complicated mess I think. Of all the various countries and specific leaders in those countries you have varying degrees of each political position. Hitler and Mussolini were both fascists but very different. Hitler claimed to be a national socialist but was more of a totalitarian dictator with fantasies of imperialism lol. Mussolini was actually more of a true national socialist than Hitler. Then on the Marxist/Communist side you have Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky who are not identical in their interpretation of what it means to be a
      Marxist/Communist. Than look to Asia with Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh and a few others who claimed to be communist. Did any of them even come close to true communism or Marxism?
      I think the current group of people who are being labelled as “leftist” or extreme liberals aren’t either of those things lol. They seem, to me at least, to be more of extreme progressives using fascist tactics to bring down anyone who disagrees with them.
      I much prefer what I saw in this video which is two adults having a conversation about some pretty serious issues without resorting to shouting, or being hateful and accusatory and demeaning and full of anger. I’m not a left or a right I’m a leave me the heck alone and I’ll leave you the heck alone person lol

He speaking to the fact that atheist such as yourself assert evolution as part of a larger natural unguided paradigm, and that this theory of a world that evolved through purely natural unguided processes is pathetic and the furthest thing from established science. Besides he also touched on the evolution of species and how it falls apart from the onset, the Cambrian turns the evolutionary tree upside down and refutes it clearly. Anyone who subscribes to evolution and holds to the strict empirical data must denounce gradualism in favor of punctuated equilibrium which completely undermines the very premise of Darwin's theory that evolution is necessarily slow and gradual.

    2.) Abiogenesis is about the origins of life, not the diversity of life. Do not confuse Abiogenesis with Evolutionary Biology.
    3.) Even IF there are questions that Evolutionary Biology or Abiogenesis cannot answer, you do not then discard everything, and automatically run to your confirmation bias answer: God did it.
    I would have expected a man who is supposedly educated like Prager, to know what evolution explains and what it does not.

      Skeptical Chris you’re misrepresenting what he said just as bad as you claim he did to those concepts. He said he was perfectly fine in believing in both evolution and God when he was younger. So you just made up that scenario of how he came to his position.

    I strongly disagree with a few things Prager says here and I detect a HEAVY bias in his mostly reasonable points (and some of his statements on science are plain bizarre), but I still enjoyed this interview a lot. I am so happy that on The Rubin Report we can have reasoned, fair, respectful discussion with people on all parts of the political spectrum. I can't think of another large channel like this that has respectful interviews with a wide range of guests.

      I don't even know why I bother to say this other than being in a great mindset after this video. Dennis Prager humorously said to go visit PragerU to undo your university education 5 minutes at a time.
      And so I can't help but feel the two comments above and the upvoters for them are like looking at a homeless guy and somehow missing the obvious fact he's poor. The indoctrination and brainwashing is unnoticed by them. The college/university institution is a known behemoth of ideologies, and promolgate them while silencing any other ideology.
      It blows my mind how people on youtube can watch a video and write as if they have seen, heard, and learned nothing right after the video. I can not understand the experience of such a weak human mind. Dennis and Dave just talked about leftists and their disinterest in truth and freedom of speech. I'd hate to admit the obvious, but schools, professors, and admistrative boards are overwhelmingly democratic and leftist. That means there has been a constant proponent of leftist idealogies governing American scholarly thought for the past decades. This is made so much clearer on many youtube videos and podcasts.
      So even if PragerU were to lean more towards an ideology, it would undoubtedly be more concise, meaningful, beneficial, and truthful than the many years of American education we grew up in; a great service to their repute of undoing the indoctrination 5 minutes at a time. All it takes is an earnest search for truth.

    The answer to the gay marriage issue has always been to get government out of marriage.
    Despite what you may feel about gay marriage, marriage is a contract between two people and the government. The moral/legal issue is that government cannot discriminated based on gender, allowing straight marriage and not gay marriage is a gender based discrimination of contract.
    Get rid of governmental preference for or against marriage, the contract is between two people.

    From the sound of it, and it's hard to tell as he doesn't go into much depth, Prager is getting confused between arguments against a gradualistic interpretation of evolution and arguments against evolution itself; at least that where I think his mentioning of the Cambrian Explosion comes from. The other point is the usual confusion between abiogenesis and evolution, although to say scientists have absolutely no clue about abiogenesis isn't true it's just a work in progress.

    • @megauser8512
      @megauser8512 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, exactly, but I understand his desire to meet science and religion in the middle, since it is foolish to believe that you know everything, saying things like "the science is not debatable," or "I know that God exists" or "I know that God does not exist."

    evolution does not explain how life began it explains how life changes over time

  • @thepocketboy
    @thepocketboy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I was very much hoping for a good argument against evolution. I keep looking for one but I have yet to find a person argue against it without showing ignorance of the topic. His two points he brought up are non issues. Of course evolution doesn't answer the beginning of life question and no self respecting evolutionary biologists would say that it does. Scientists hypothesize and have ideas that are slowly starting to come together based on natural pressures but that's it. As for the pre-cambrian explosion just cause scientists may or may not have have specific answers doesn't mean it dismisses evolution outright (like Einstein didn't dismiss newton). I think people underestimate the morphability of DNA (such as hopping transposons). The other issue I find is when people hear that scientists debate over a particular part of a theory it means the theory itself is wrong. +/- 8% certainty is not +/- 100%
    Anyway great talk. I disagree with lots of points he made but still Definitely worth discussing.

    • @christophergiblin8752
      @christophergiblin8752 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thepocketboy You mean like the fact that Charles Darwin ripped off the "Theory of evolution" from his cousin. Or that after he did that proclaimed himself the foremost expert in the field. How about the fact that they still can't produce the "missing link." Don't get me wrong creationism is absolutely ludicrous and I'm a devout Catholic. I just think there are way too many holes in evolution. I just say I'm not sure how God created people I Just know he did.

    • @seph1252

      Notice he said he does (or did) believe in evolution. He just believes that evolution, like many other natural systems (Coriolis, gravity), is the work of god. I think evolutionists and non evolutionists keep talking past each other. Just because evolution doesn't describe the beginning of life doesn't mean it isn't a working system and just because one believes in a supernatural origin of life doesn't mean they deny evolution. people keep puting words in each other's mouths. I agree with you that just because a theory is incomplete it doesn't mean that the theory is wrong. That also means that an incomplete theory is not yet fact and we should be open to alternatives until then.

    • @2xcrzkxk
      @2xcrzkxk 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with your approach is that you are expecting to have an end to the discussion at some point with one person winning that evolution or creationism is absolutely at the bottom of everything & I don't think you will get that. Perhaps evolutionary theory has gaps in its understanding up to this point but Prager's point is that evolutionary theory does not negate the possibility of creationism being at the epicenter. As opposed to it being one or the other. He seems to believe both are true & do not contradict each other.
