This completely shows why I love this channel more than any regular news outlet. Where else can an openly gay man have a respectful conversation with someone who is opposed to gay marriage? If he was on CNN, people would've been yelling over him to the point where he wouldn't even be able to finish his point.
Not to mention they'd be interrupting the conversation every five minutes to cut to a new commercial break with a distracting news ticker distracting you from enjoying the conversation.
It's important to note that it doesn't say, "be cruel to the cruel." That's one of the biggest issues I see, we respond with hatred towards hatred, and that does nothing but fuel the fire. Of course, I'm talking about interpersonal relationships. Not "macro" 1000 year old animosities. Applying that phrase to your own personal life would be a mistake, imo.
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. (Proverbs 25: 21-22) I guess the symbolic in this verse, is to treat even your enemy with kindness and by doing so, he will have a hard time continue to be your enemy.
@@Uriel-Septim. That's exactly why the enemy is walking all over Europe and it's what Trump is fighting against. Helping your enemy makes no sense at all, unless you're goal is to lose.
@@ecall1771 I agree, to an extent. “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke. But there are different ways to fight evil. "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." Also, don`t take everything literally, to treat those, who think that they are your enemy with grace, is not the same as doing nothing when you face evil, but it is not always a good idea to fight fire with fire, sometimes you need water (the opposite of it) like good is the opposite of evil.
Goddam, it truly wasn’t out of context at all. Dennis Prager may actually be a bi man who believes he should be straight for God or whatever. I feel like Dave even picked up on it too with that little “hm” after he said it lol
That's not hard to believe, just look at ancient Greece and Rome. Before the Judeo-Christian idea of heterosexuality/homosexuality, people were much more sexually fluid. There was no differentiation between straight and gay, only penetrator and penetrated. It was normal for men to have lovers of both genders. It's only after the psychological conditioning of Christianity that we see the emergence of rigid sexual preferences.
Awesome is the right word, because no other way can I have any chance to convince you, or, the converse where you have a real chance to convince me. And that convincing is in fact, so important. What if I am truly wrong and I truly need to be straightened out? No other way can that happen. And that's why any President should be that way and seems like few are. The idea a President being Mother or Father of a nation is a great idea, from either party.
Welcome to the comment section. Here you will find: 1. Atheists calling christians "mongs". 2. Christians calling Atheists "mongs". 3. Random internet dwellers who think they know how to science. 4. Obnoxious douchebags who still don't understands the difference between an interview and a debate. 5. Obnoxious douchebags who claim they want to hear different perspectives but always complain no matter who comes on the show. Enjoy!
I'm an atheist calling militant atheists "mongs" because they seem like basement dwellers who have never interacted with real Americans. If you have Christian family and friends, you learn to accept their beliefs and know that it doesn't affect you at all. You don't have to change people!
This dude has a really simplistic outlook of the world. Most issues aren't a childish black and white, most issues end up being several shades of grey.
Exactly what I was thinking. As soon as he said defining evil wasn't rocket science, I knew this guy wouldn't be for me. I'm a liberal so you could say that he obviously wouldn't be for me, but I usually like lthe conservative guests dave has on
Most issues? Perhaps if we are discussing whether a caramel latte is better than a vanilla. So, yes I suppose you have a point. On important issues, fundamental issues, they are not grey.
As a Conservative I can say Dave Rubin is one of my favourite hosts, i don't think I've seen a bad interview from him. If more Liberals could be like him I think we would have more progress in the world.
The Rubin report is not liberal all left wing speakers get no attention while right wing pedophilia apologists like Milo get lots of love there is an obvious slant
u should watch sam seder's analyses of Dave Rubin's stupidest moments. its a real eye opener to how little he knows about political science and american history. Sam is a democrat but just watch some and it will show how much of a fraud Dave is. and sam kept challenging him to debate and dave backed down. same with Steven crowder. these conservative and libertarian youtuber whine about the left so much yet they back out of debates with sam on politicon.
The Rubin Report May I be on your show someday? Milo fan, Trump supporter, working on a film about my cousin who committed suicide. (Needing a catalyst). Thanks for what you do. I really love your show Dave!
blurglide ... yeah... it's much better to have moral being black and white and having a holy book to tell you which is which ... and a group of religious people to tell you have to interpret it, if you try to be too clever.
Everyone uses moral relativism, 41000 denominations of Christianity. Christians can't even agree what is "Objective" in that book of fables. Even the fictional character Yahweh did in the Bible. Producing the 10 commandments than hypocritically ordering Moses to slaughter, rape and pillage the Canaanite people. So much for "Objective" morality...
I agree. I don't care what you do, as long as you don't try to push it on me. " As long as it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg, what difference is it " ? Jefferson said that.
Jeff Tappan I agree with you but I go a step farther in that I don’t want my children being taught something that I disagree with. And I believe that works both ways. I think part of what’s wrong with our current education system is schools spending too much time indoctrinating children with stuff that shouldn’t even be taught in school in the first place. Schools need to stick to academics and arts, music, and sports. Leave everything else to the parents who should be the ones to teach their own children about the non-academic stuff, passing on their values and beliefs. That’s how the founders of this country were educated and they grew up to create what is arguably the greatest country to ever exist. Schools need to quit wasting time, effort and money on all this social engineering stuff. Marriage whether it be heterosexual or gay or lesbian or whatever doesn’t need to be taught to 3rd graders or any other age kids for that matter. Stick to reading, writing, maths, science, physical fitness (sports/exercise). Now I’m just rambling lol I will say I liked your comment so please don’t take my comments as some how disagreeing with you. Cheers mate
i love Prager.. i am a Christian and love to watch Rubin. the left would say i dont like him because he is gay. i agree with Prager on gay marriage but that doesn't mean i hate Rubin :) keep up the good work Rubin
Gary Cooper me too. i used to be a fervent gay marriage supporter but now that the lbgt community has been trying to use government to force religious businesses to cater to something they oppose, I'm not so supportive of it any more. now I'm more in the get government out of marriage altogether camp. still love Dave though culturally I'm more in agreement with prager.
I love your show, Dave! And I'ved loved Dennis Prager since he happened to be on daytime TV in the early 90's and I happened to catch it. The radio show is great. But it has to be broken up into snippets. The "hard commercial break" seems to ruin the flow. Hearing Dennis explain in an uninterrupted format is a treat. Your interviews give your guests the opportunity to go into the nuances. Thank God (or the Flying Spaghetti Monster) that people are beginning to have space to touch on these complex issues and nuances. It didn't occur to me that Cenk's anti-Israel rhetoric and partnering with Al Jazeera, might have driven popular hosts such as yourself. I just recently found out that Pakman left TYT, too. I that you, Dave, are developing a finesse to challenge your guests without being an asshole. If you are once in while, you seem to allow the guest time to respond. I'm just really excited to see this "New Media" creating something TV and radio could never offer. Something that we've been starved of and an underserved market of viewers. Look at Fox News! They hit the jackpot in terms of an underserved market of audience. Hold on! TH-cam suggested an interview I missed somehow! I'm glad to throw a little bit to your Patreon!
Are you kidding me? Prager is a willfully simple thinker. Everything has to be about good or evil for him. Its "my side good-their side evil" bullshit. His ideas are about as far from intellectual as they come. He is a myopic byproduct of the 1980s style "moral majority" conservative movement.
You tell 'em Iranian liberal. Any anonymous format brings the scum to the surface, like in any swamp and Don the con Trump said he was going to drain the swamp but instead enables them. As for jews, Bernie Sanders says the opposite of this clown so they both cant be lying. I hope this guy's grasp of science is better than his grasp of history. Trotsky was certainly not the "father of Bolshevism" , he was in fact a late convert to Bolshevism (as most people in high school history class know) and using Stalin as an example of how the "left" argues is a little odd and while no fan of Stalin, calling Trotsky a "Fascist" is not that far off the mark since Lenenism/Bolshevism is considered a right wing anomaly of socialism. The "left" is "fearful" of the religious right? only politically and because of the huge amount of money they raise and donate to goofy right wing causes...and on and on..im not sure he said one thing that was accurate. Stupidity at this depth is painful to listen to but to realize this is a guy with enough clout to get on the show.
Really love what you're doing, Dave. This was a great interview, and the unity that is created when two people embrace the idea of freedom of speech is what really stands out here. The fact that you and Prager are both intelligent and reasonable people is the icing on that cake. When I find myself in agreement or disagreement with your point of view or his, the respect I have for both of you is not diminished. Respect is a rare commodity these days, so keep doing what you're doing, brother.
I love Dennis Prager. He's so clear, concise, and honest, and that's really refreshing in an age where obnoxious personalities and spin are so prevalent with political discourse.
Dave Rubin is gay? Never knew. And i'm not being sarcastic. It's nice to see a dude who's just a regular joe but is gay, without all the theatrical attached to it. I'm With Dennis on almost all of the things he says (99.9) but even though i don't agree with Rubin, i give him mad props for doing this show and talking/listening to people.
The thing is, just like you didn't know Dave was gay, there'll be plenty of other people who are gay/bi without you noticing. You only notice the camp ones, plenty of gay guys don't mince around and talk in a high pitched voice, just like Dave.
Never saw a Rubin Report before, but really enjoyed this! Well done Dave (and Dennis - whom I listen to fairly often as I make the commute between Efrat and Nahariya)... Thank you gentlemen!
Wow, I'm about halfway through at 47 minutes and this is awesome. "There is no way to convince anyone who denies fact." I'm a person who was adopted as a child by Christians. We had 9+ people in our foster family most of the time. Now at the end and it was a great conversation. Thank you Dennis and Dave for doing what you guys do!
This right here is what our country should be: two people who disagree about a lot of things sitting in a room and trying to understand each other. Dave's show should be a model for the whole country.
I wish Dave would start to have two opposing guest one at once, like Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris, and just make the segment 3 hours or something. These one on one interviews are interesting but often become a bit of a circlejerk.
What is so impressive about this conversation is the fact that two individuals with such radically different worldviews can be respectful and civil in their dialogue. In an age of increasingly polarized opinions it's refreshing..
Dave, I appreciate your channel and guests that you bring on. I'm a conservative liberal Christian and love Dennis, you, Milo and so many more. Thank you for such much for this wonderful discussion.
God chose the 'Jews', the people who rejected the Messiah and who celebrate his death to this day?! Hardly. Those who reject the Son are rejected by the Father. 'No one who denies the Son has the Father.' (1 John 2.23) Prager is delusional.
Is that a 2x4 in your eye? You can accept Jesus all day long. If you don't obey him, or believe He says, what are you? The whole world is delusional " Revelation "
"(1 John 2.23)" Has nothing to do with the chosen status or destiny of the Jews. Many times in the Old Testament the Jews (like other people) did both good and evil, and individual Jews (like other people) were good and bad. This never in the Biblical narrative changed the chosen status of the Jews. John 4:22; Romans 11
You’re quoting the new testament, apparently you haven’t read the old testament. There is a remnant of jews. Not only that but as it is said over and over in the old testament. “God is not a man that he will change.” They are his chosen people. Go read Isaiah 49 14-16 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me.” 15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
@@Nunya775 The promises made to the Israelites relate, not to 'Jews', but to Christians, the true spiritual heirs of the Judaeans of old. It is the Church that is Israel, not the antichristic Talmudic Synagogue of Satan.
This show is so well lit, the sound is so good, the camera work so good that we are seduced into watching some rather dull discussions. Congrats to the techs behind this show.
zloidooraque Says the guy who can't even write a comment with proper grammar. If you attack the individual rather than the ideas then you are a weak voice for your cause. It sounds like YOU need the education.
English is not my first or even second language. If you attack my grammar you have a weak voice for your cause lol. Irony, relentless bitch. You just take one typo (which obviously IS a typo, you can see 3 words later) and construct some weird theory about a person I am. Well done. I've attacked his ideas by saying he doesn't know biology and history. If you can't see it (and now I attack your level of education, not your person), you are ignorant. If you expect I will bash word by word the video that is 80 minutes long, you are overestimating your importance. And I will repeat: what prager says on the matter of biology and history is utter nonsense. I have no problem attacking his person because of that. I call stupid people stupid, simple as that. If I were in discussion with him personally, I'd explain him why what he says is not correct from the science perspective, not calling him names, but here I'm not bond or required to speak as I would talk to him, because I'm not talking to him in the first place, if you are not noticing it. And he'll never read it too. Or, if he will, he will not free himself from delusions, and I can even explain you why. Altho, if you are insisting he is well educated, I will take my time and find you two episodes where he is clearly wrong (one biology, one history). I will show you scientific proof of that. But sorry, in that case I oblige you to acknowledge prager and you are not educated and apologize. You decide.
Excellent conversation. To the point without getting angry at each other. So proud to serve my country when to opposites can enjoy a conversation without name calling. Keep up the great work.
I never know if anyone involved in videos I watch are reading when I post but thank you Mr. Ruben this was a very "middle of the road" version of what I wish our country could achieve regularly in political debate; a civilized conversation between the two sides of the aisle rather then riots. Thank you.
I dunno, Brother. Prager rails against anyone who is politically left-leaning so much that I find him to be immensely tribalistic. Not only that, but he believes that the United States has not only a good, but the BEST track record in interethnic (i.e., "racial) relations? This is neither true historically nor currently...
Just to clarify, nobody is saying we need to throw out immigrants. This is NOT about immigration, it is about invasion, please understand the difference.
Hardly an invasion when most illegals are here from overstaying a visa and illegal immigrants are only around 3% of the population. Keep running scared
Hi Dave Rubin!! I'm a conservative who discovered you through Steven Crowder, and I'm SO GLAD. I absolutely LOVE your channel!!! Even though we don't share many beliefs, we share ESSENTIAL CORE VALUES, and I totally support you and what you're doing here on your show. SO BRAVE. I pray for your continued success. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU!
yeah so wise to say evolution is not real and mix the problem of abiogenesis with evolution. and downgrade a complex stalin-trotsky matter to the point of stalin calling trotsky fascist (which never happened btw). this man is a moron.
As he points out, unless he's a working biologist, his opinion on abiogenesis is completely irrelevant to his skill and talent in other fields. And re: the left reducing opposition to a label of abuse, he's pretty much spot on, except sometimes they use two words. Mao did it with "capitalist-roaders" (for the more doctrinaire communists who didn't like his cult of personality), Stalin with "Trotskyites" for any of his enemies (even some who worked with him to remove Trotsky), etc etc. And you do it just there: Unless he jumps through all of your hoops, he's a moron. That doesn't make him a moron, it makes you a moron, or maybe a bigot.
You're concerned about the left using offensive labels, but don't see a problem with Prager condemning all "leftists" (people who don't see things the way he does) as "evil", and on the same level as radical islamists?
Dave ones again shows that decency and genuine interest in another person's views trumps (pun intended) mediocrity and mindless bashing. Thank you, Dave.
@@drooskie9525 religions need to be updated. I'm a norse heathen. would you like me to show up to a church, kick in the door, and take a member of the congregation as a human sacrifice? even christians did it. check the old laws in leviticus.
Prager is a great example of what led me to realize that deep down I was a conservative raised by liberals. The way he can eloquently express his points and back them up with sound logic is everything I sought and never got from my fellow liberals.
Who on the left likes those totalitarian regimes who wrongfully called themselves communists? I've never met a person on the left who wasn't a libertarian socialist or anarchist or less often someone who vltes democrat but dislikes the imperialism. A lot of people on the right argue the straw man in my experience. The arguments are so dumbed down so often. The nazis hated marxists for obvious reasons. The nazis said the marxists wanted equality and democracy and weren't racists.
Gerald Sproehlich It’s a rather complicated mess I think. Of all the various countries and specific leaders in those countries you have varying degrees of each political position. Hitler and Mussolini were both fascists but very different. Hitler claimed to be a national socialist but was more of a totalitarian dictator with fantasies of imperialism lol. Mussolini was actually more of a true national socialist than Hitler. Then on the Marxist/Communist side you have Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky who are not identical in their interpretation of what it means to be a Marxist/Communist. Than look to Asia with Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh and a few others who claimed to be communist. Did any of them even come close to true communism or Marxism? I think the current group of people who are being labelled as “leftist” or extreme liberals aren’t either of those things lol. They seem, to me at least, to be more of extreme progressives using fascist tactics to bring down anyone who disagrees with them. I much prefer what I saw in this video which is two adults having a conversation about some pretty serious issues without resorting to shouting, or being hateful and accusatory and demeaning and full of anger. I’m not a left or a right I’m a leave me the heck alone and I’ll leave you the heck alone person lol
it is not a matter of "strength" adjectives indicate a wide variety of properties, from which "EXCEPTIONALLY" is more accurately describing the relation between prager's videos and guests' videos.
I've listened to him off and on since the late 90s, i don't agree with most of the vids and think some of his arguments are ridiculous, but they have helped him out a lot. About a decade ago to me he sounded drunk half the time and it seemed like he was tired and/or losing interest. Now he seems full of energy and not goin anywhere. Good for him
Unfortunately good for him doesn't mean it's good for anyone else. For example, a serial killer going on a rampage would be good for him.... I think I'd prefer my serial killers and Dennis Prager without vigor.. T_T
Great interview! You are one of the best interviewers in allowing people to talk no matter what they believe or express. It's like we actually get to calm down and just listen to what people are saying for once!
Evolution does not include Abiogenesis, because Abiogenesis is a separate theory. This is 101 level information on evolution. He has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to the science.
everyone knows evolution is just one chapter out of the godless narrative purported by the secularist. He speaking to the fact that atheist such as yourself assert evolution as part of a larger natural unguided paradigm, and that this theory of a world that evolved through purely natural unguided processes is pathetic and the furthest thing from established science. Besides he also touched on the evolution of species and how it falls apart from the onset, the Cambrian turns the evolutionary tree upside down and refutes it clearly. Anyone who subscribes to evolution and holds to the strict empirical data must denounce gradualism in favor of punctuated equilibrium which completely undermines the very premise of Darwin's theory that evolution is necessarily slow and gradual.
godwings101 as is the custom, evolutionist refuses to join actual conversation and instead settles for berating opponents as though this somehow settles the debate
godwings101 Yeah, that was one of the most pretentious, unorganized, meaningless paragraphs of horse shit I've ever read. I love that the moron imagines oneself to be "educated," by saying "atheist such as yourself," and I'm not talking about the use of the singular, singular "atheist." The proper word is "YOU," not "yourself," but idiotic, high-minded douchebags think that's by saying"yourself," that makes them smart. It doesn't. It makes one stupid, and it also makes one look like a total moron. It's demonstrative of one being a pretentious, fucking fool.
"...but I almost had you there..." LOL! I love Dave Rubin - He's a person I'd really enjoy having a beer with. And Dennis Prager is a guy I'd absolutely love to have brandy and a cigar with.
It's because too many people conflate all Creationism with Young Earth Creationism. There's a huge difference, mainly that YEC is the specific belief that God created the world 6,000 years ago within six 24-hour days.
I am both an ardent evolutionist, a creationist and a supporter of intelligent design. Read the CTMU by Chris Langan. Or his Cheating the millennium essay on evolutionary theory.
You need to make up your bloody mind and stop trying to shoehorn your god into places it doesn't fit. As for Chris Langan, the first thing I find about him is: 'whose IQ was reportedly believed to be "between 190 and 210"'. Believed by whom exactly? What does an IQ of over 200 even mean? It's like claiming a pH of 20. Just another self-anointed whack-job.
There is not "making up one's" mind, if the entire thing is a false dichotomy and a false choice. Regarding Langan, believed by psychometricians. What does IQ over 200 mean, well gee I don't know, what does a temperature over 10,000 mean? Are you saying you are so stupid you can't even imagine such a high temperature, or such a high IQ? As for self anointed wack jobs, I suggest you look at every politician, banker and MSM whore out there, and you'd find plenty of those wack jobs.
I agree that it got a little frustrating at times, but I think this is just Dave's interview style. From what I can tell from his other interviews, he generally opts to let the guest speak their mind, chiming in occasionally to keep the conversation going. I'm not a big fan of Prager, but I feel like I learned more from just hearing him elaborate on various subjects rather than engage in a debate.
Malkhaz Mgvdliasvhili Dave is not one to push back, he's one to provide a platform. You should know this by now. He seeks to be the unbiased platform where ideas can be safely portrayed - don't encourage the destruction of that.
i've watched this show every since it was launched, he was not this passive, he was showing signs that within him critical thought exists, from this interview i can see the oppisite
Dave is trying to find a new center. It's not a debate it's a platform. I'm intrested in Dennis Prager's ideas, not because I Agree with him on stuff, there are alot of places I don't ... but because I want to here his views in a good format without listening to dave on the subject. I know dave's views already. I don't need him to challenge it. He brings on wildly diffrent views from generally resonable people. Fact Is Prager makes compelling arguments. I'm not convinced at all on some of the points, but he has made me think. I'm here to be made uncomfortable ... not to have my bias's confirmed. There are plenty of places to have your views validated.
Rubin´s show is a safe space for conservatives where they can spout bullshit and lies under the baner of letting the guest speak his "ideas" and "free speech"
If David Rubin is an example of what a liberal is then I have a newly found respect for liberalism. To be honest from the couple interviews I've watched, I thought he was a gay conservative. Before Rubin I hated all "liberal's", when it was Leftist who I truly despised, I guess. I am definitely a fan of this guy.
QuartetmanIA The terms liberal and conservative came about during FDR's presidency. Those who believed that the new deal was unconstitutional held a conservative interpretation of the Constitution. Those who believe that the new deal was constitutional held a liberal interpretation. Liberals take liberty with the constitution. Conservatives believe that it means what it says. Long story short, they're all liberals, some more extreme than others.
21:07 1.) Evolutionary Biology, is NOT the study of the origins of life, it is the study of the DIVERSITY of life, why are polar bears in the arctic and the vast numbers of reptiles found in tropics for example. 2.) Abiogenesis is about the origins of life, not the diversity of life. Do not confuse Abiogenesis with Evolutionary Biology. 3.) Even IF there are questions that Evolutionary Biology or Abiogenesis cannot answer, you do not then discard everything, and automatically run to your confirmation bias answer: God did it. I would have expected a man who is supposedly educated like Prager, to know what evolution explains and what it does not.
Skeptical Chris you’re misrepresenting what he said just as bad as you claim he did to those concepts. He said he was perfectly fine in believing in both evolution and God when he was younger. So you just made up that scenario of how he came to his position.
I strongly disagree with a few things Prager says here and I detect a HEAVY bias in his mostly reasonable points (and some of his statements on science are plain bizarre), but I still enjoyed this interview a lot. I am so happy that on The Rubin Report we can have reasoned, fair, respectful discussion with people on all parts of the political spectrum. I can't think of another large channel like this that has respectful interviews with a wide range of guests.
I don't even know why I bother to say this other than being in a great mindset after this video. Dennis Prager humorously said to go visit PragerU to undo your university education 5 minutes at a time. And so I can't help but feel the two comments above and the upvoters for them are like looking at a homeless guy and somehow missing the obvious fact he's poor. The indoctrination and brainwashing is unnoticed by them. The college/university institution is a known behemoth of ideologies, and promolgate them while silencing any other ideology. It blows my mind how people on youtube can watch a video and write as if they have seen, heard, and learned nothing right after the video. I can not understand the experience of such a weak human mind. Dennis and Dave just talked about leftists and their disinterest in truth and freedom of speech. I'd hate to admit the obvious, but schools, professors, and admistrative boards are overwhelmingly democratic and leftist. That means there has been a constant proponent of leftist idealogies governing American scholarly thought for the past decades. This is made so much clearer on many youtube videos and podcasts. So even if PragerU were to lean more towards an ideology, it would undoubtedly be more concise, meaningful, beneficial, and truthful than the many years of American education we grew up in; a great service to their repute of undoing the indoctrination 5 minutes at a time. All it takes is an earnest search for truth.
The answer to the gay marriage issue has always been to get government out of marriage. Despite what you may feel about gay marriage, marriage is a contract between two people and the government. The moral/legal issue is that government cannot discriminated based on gender, allowing straight marriage and not gay marriage is a gender based discrimination of contract. Get rid of governmental preference for or against marriage, the contract is between two people.
I'm all for listening to alternative viewpoints but it's difficult to take people seriously when they base their opinions on their lack of knowledge on a given topic. At which point you have to question am I listening to a viewpoint or giving a crackpot a platform to reach others with his disinformation. It's a fine line
Mr. Rubin, you are a dose of sanity in an insane world. I truly appreciate your evenhanded approach to emotionally charged topics. Your respectful, intellectually curious interview style, and most of all, your character. Just by the act of allowing someone to answer a question, without constant interruption, puts you well above your peers. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep watching your videos.
From the sound of it, and it's hard to tell as he doesn't go into much depth, Prager is getting confused between arguments against a gradualistic interpretation of evolution and arguments against evolution itself; at least that where I think his mentioning of the Cambrian Explosion comes from. The other point is the usual confusion between abiogenesis and evolution, although to say scientists have absolutely no clue about abiogenesis isn't true it's just a work in progress.
Yep, exactly, but I understand his desire to meet science and religion in the middle, since it is foolish to believe that you know everything, saying things like "the science is not debatable," or "I know that God exists" or "I know that God does not exist."
I was very much hoping for a good argument against evolution. I keep looking for one but I have yet to find a person argue against it without showing ignorance of the topic. His two points he brought up are non issues. Of course evolution doesn't answer the beginning of life question and no self respecting evolutionary biologists would say that it does. Scientists hypothesize and have ideas that are slowly starting to come together based on natural pressures but that's it. As for the pre-cambrian explosion just cause scientists may or may not have have specific answers doesn't mean it dismisses evolution outright (like Einstein didn't dismiss newton). I think people underestimate the morphability of DNA (such as hopping transposons). The other issue I find is when people hear that scientists debate over a particular part of a theory it means the theory itself is wrong. +/- 8% certainty is not +/- 100% Anyway great talk. I disagree with lots of points he made but still Definitely worth discussing.
thepocketboy You mean like the fact that Charles Darwin ripped off the "Theory of evolution" from his cousin. Or that after he did that proclaimed himself the foremost expert in the field. How about the fact that they still can't produce the "missing link." Don't get me wrong creationism is absolutely ludicrous and I'm a devout Catholic. I just think there are way too many holes in evolution. I just say I'm not sure how God created people I Just know he did.
Notice he said he does (or did) believe in evolution. He just believes that evolution, like many other natural systems (Coriolis, gravity), is the work of god. I think evolutionists and non evolutionists keep talking past each other. Just because evolution doesn't describe the beginning of life doesn't mean it isn't a working system and just because one believes in a supernatural origin of life doesn't mean they deny evolution. people keep puting words in each other's mouths. I agree with you that just because a theory is incomplete it doesn't mean that the theory is wrong. That also means that an incomplete theory is not yet fact and we should be open to alternatives until then.
The problem with your approach is that you are expecting to have an end to the discussion at some point with one person winning that evolution or creationism is absolutely at the bottom of everything & I don't think you will get that. Perhaps evolutionary theory has gaps in its understanding up to this point but Prager's point is that evolutionary theory does not negate the possibility of creationism being at the epicenter. As opposed to it being one or the other. He seems to believe both are true & do not contradict each other.
What? Are you being sarcastic or ironic or what? I’m seriously asking because I don’t understand your comment lol. I’m not being a troll lol. I sincerely would like to know what you mean. Cheers
This completely shows why I love this channel more than any regular news outlet. Where else can an openly gay man have a respectful conversation with someone who is opposed to gay marriage? If he was on CNN, people would've been yelling over him to the point where he wouldn't even be able to finish his point.
I don't think there even any media outlet outside of youtube where you can see something like this nowdays
There's some really good stuff on satellite radio. There's some good political shows and commentators on television as well, despite their outlets.
dont ask yes
Gotta love Rubin!
Not to mention they'd be interrupting the conversation every five minutes to cut to a new commercial break with a distracting news ticker distracting you from enjoying the conversation.
"Those who are kind to the cruel are cruel to the kind" is a pretty damn good saying.
(Proverbs 25: 21-22)
I guess the symbolic in this verse, is to treat even your enemy with kindness and by doing so, he will have a hard time continue to be your enemy.
@@Uriel-Septim. That's exactly why the enemy is walking all over Europe and it's what Trump is fighting against. Helping your enemy makes no sense at all, unless you're goal is to lose.
@@ecall1771 I agree, to an extent.
“All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.”
― Edmund Burke.
But there are different ways to fight evil.

Also, don`t take everything literally, to treat those, who think that they are your enemy with grace, is not the same as doing nothing when you face evil, but it is not always a good idea to fight fire with fire, sometimes you need water (the opposite of it) like good is the opposite of evil.

In the same way Dave isn't defined by his gayness, Dennis isn't defined by his bisexuality

Isn't it awesome to be mature enough to disagree and remain friends!!!!!

This dude has a really simplistic outlook of the world. Most issues aren't a childish black and white, most issues end up being several shades of grey.
i noticed that. he believes in a strict good evil dichotomy. the world is way more complicated than that!
Indeed, and an incredible bias that 'good behaviour' is purely a product of Judeo-Christian values.
Jesse Sewell What issues are you considering "fundamental" that have no shades?
As a Conservative I can say Dave Rubin is one of my favourite hosts, i don't think I've seen a bad interview from him. If more Liberals could be like him I think we would have more progress in the world.

What morality do you choose? I'll go with Machiavellianism.
I can't take anyone seriously who says they want to destroy evil. You ain't Jesus, dude. This ain't the bible, it's real life.
No shit, he acts as though good and evil are objective truths. The concepts of good and evil are relative.
Well ... if he hadn't at the same time shown sympathy for what a lot of other people regard as evil, then it would have made more sense.
This kind of moral relativism is the problem they're both complaining about is rampant on the left.
blurglide
... yeah... it's much better to have moral being black and white and having a holy book to tell you which is which ... and a group of religious people to tell you have to interpret it, if you try to be too clever.
I don't care if Dave is gay. That's irrelevant. I love the fact that he's simply right. He's calm and collected. Grounded. Rubin is a good guy.
Schools need to stick to academics and
arts, music, and sports.
Now I’m just rambling lol
I will say I liked your comment so please don’t take my comments as some how disagreeing with you.

The "left" is "fearful" of the religious right? only politically and because of the huge amount of money they raise and donate to goofy right wing causes...and on and on..im not sure he said one thing that was accurate. I wish Dave would start to have two opposing guest one at once, like Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris, and just make the segment 3 hours or something. These one on one interviews are interesting but often become a bit of a circlejerk.

You decide.

A very wise man, great interview
yeah so wise to say evolution is not real and mix the problem of abiogenesis with evolution. and downgrade a complex stalin-trotsky matter to the point of stalin calling trotsky fascist (which never happened btw).
this man is a moron.

Prager is a great example of what led me to realize that deep down I was a conservative raised by liberals. The way he can eloquently express his points and back them up with sound logic is everything I sought and never got from my fellow liberals.
"They hate nazis and not communists...they don't hate evil." Same revelation I had 40 years later.
this statement is wrong
they hate non of these
they use the fascist play book for getting communism
Then on the Marxist/Communist side you have Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky who are not identical in their interpretation of what it means to be a
Marxist/Communist.
I love Prager's videos.
Prager's videos on the Prager's channel are EXCEPTIONALLY horrible.
Is there a stronger adjective than exceptionally? Use that one... PragerU is embarrassingly bad.
it is not a matter of "strength"
adjectives indicate a wide variety of properties, from which "EXCEPTIONALLY" is more accurately describing the relation between prager's videos and guests' videos.
Dennis Prager dropping knowledge. Love that guy.
+Nate Armendariz What a load of shit lol
godwings101 as is the custom, evolutionist refuses to join actual conversation and instead settles for berating opponents as though this somehow settles the debate
You can't just ignore part of the philosophy because it's inconvenient to said philosophy.
godwings101 Yeah, that was one of the most pretentious, unorganized, meaningless paragraphs of horse shit I've ever read.

This is an amazing discussion/debate where logic and calm talk prevails and both sides are more than reasonable. Why can't all politics be like this?!
really enjoy it. thank you Dave.
dave you dropped the ball on this one, no pushback on obviously terrible points, awful
What a great interview! Mr. Rubin is probably the best interviewer I have ever heard...
Prager is the best
Imagine the government told you "you can't marry the person you love" because of your sexuality. Just imagine. Gay marriage is a civil rights issue.
Listened to a few now. I like how you let your guests talk. They've been interesting and dynamic speakers. Good job!
The same people who criticise this guy for religion love milo and Ben??
Excellent interview. Thank you to both Dave and Dennis for doing this.

1.) Evolutionary Biology, is NOT the study of the origins of life, it is the study of the DIVERSITY of life, why are polar bears in the arctic and the vast numbers of reptiles found in tropics for example.
So you just made up that scenario of how he came to his position.
wow...what a reasonable conversation.
Dave and Dennis are awesome! Try to find a discussion like this on any cable news outlet.
The interview starts at 06:50 .
You welcome.
His points on religion and morality are complete nonsense, however.
Yes, very obvious that Prager would get blown away in any debate on religion, morality, and philosophy.
What an excellent exchange of ideas, civility at its best. Rubin & Prager, keep up the great work.
Go Mr. Prager!!! PragerU Student Ambassador support!
Khaled Rapp got second that! May as well be Trump U
Dennis Prager is the man who converted me to conservatism in 2015 when watching his YAF speech :)
An excellent, civil and respectful interview. Highly professional in every way. Many others could learn from this.
8:49 "I knew I was not on the left"
Ok Dennis, just making sure 👌
The answer to the gay marriage issue has always been to get government out of marriage.
Despite what you may feel about gay marriage, marriage is a contract between two people and the government. The moral/legal issue is that government cannot discriminated based on gender, allowing straight marriage and not gay marriage is a gender based discrimination of contract.
Get rid of governmental preference for or against marriage, the contract is between two people.
With government out of marriage, how would issues such as divorce and child custody be handled?
More humanely.
Another absolutely outstanding interview!!!!!! Bravo! 👏 Bravo!!👏 Bravo!!!👏
I use to be a Liberal but now loathe the left........
You can be liberal and not enjoy the left. Look at Dave.
I always liked Dennis Prager
a must watch! many thanks!!! Fan of both David and Dennis!!!
Mr. Ruben you have one nice modern studio.
Have decency and compassion in the micro, have standards in the macro. That's conservatism in a nutshell
Yep!
I love Prager for his views and love Rubin for his decency. I'd really love to have a beer with both Dave and Dennis.
"I'm very scientific, I don't believe in superstition." Dennis Prager
I'm all for listening to alternative viewpoints but it's difficult to take people seriously when they base their opinions on their lack of knowledge on a given topic. At which point you have to question am I listening to a viewpoint or giving a crackpot a platform to reach others with his disinformation. It's a fine line
I so agree, very fine line.

I wish americans would stop reffering to europe as if it is one country
When it became the EU, it kinda did become one country to an outside observer. Now with Brexit, its Britain and Europe.
American refers to every continent as a whole. I was a Nigerian until I came to U.S, now I am just refer to as African.
Still a false analogy. The EU, the Euro Zone and Europe are not the same thing. All three are made of countries, but they aren't synonyms.
Intelligence and rationale from both men.
Great interview. I see both of you as some of the most logic based commentators out there right now.
At this point in my life, I am thankful that my parents raised me with books by Prager et alia in places of honor in the house
Nice to see someone bringing back reason & common sense. Thank You Dennis Prager
evolution does not explain how life began it explains how life changes over time
I was very much hoping for a good argument against evolution. +/- 8% certainty is not +/- 100%
Anyway great talk.
I agree a atheist and a Christian scientist would be a really good debate
Great video and discussion!
Prager U slogan: The less you know, the higher your grade.
What? Are you being sarcastic or ironic or what? I’m seriously asking because I don’t understand your comment lol. I’m not being a troll lol. I sincerely would like to know what you mean.
Cheers
