It would depend on your need and budget. You can get the smart tv ao that you won’t need any android tv box. If you have a regulr tv go for the Mi box s to make it smart
In case anybody was like me looking for the answer. I bought mibox s and a powered usb hub. But the mibox was delivered first. And when i tested my 4tb wd elements, it was working! Downloaded vlc and it played everything in my personal library. Cheers!
i've had problems with this freezing lately...turns out it was the livetv app causing it.disabled that and fixed the whole thing.i dont use the livetv app anyway..pretty solid androidtv box
Yes, you can via some file explorer and app package on USB stick but androidTV OS don't get it visible. You must also install some as sideloader to see app And run it.

Does it log onto windows networks so I can watch my own library. Having trouble with many of these boxes not capable of networking very well. Cant handle SMB properly I suspect.

it is Google certified not Miracast, I think you will need google home but not sure, it will work on your tv with an HDMI CABLE

Yes, you can use it with bt headphones. You can't conect standart antena chanels but you can use live tv chanel streaming via IPTV over internet 😉

For home theater output, there is no dolby atmos, no 7.1, no dts-MA. In 2019 model, I've no idea on the older models.

Yes but you need to sideload most of them using aptoide tv, aurora store, apkmirror.com, or any other website/app

That should work. I even just use my old Dell computer monitor and just use an adapter for HDMI it still works.

Yes you can. You just need to set the correct display resolution once you switch the Mi Box S to another TV.
