Possibly, but only as shorter sequences focusing on specific scenes. There's not enough episodes to do another full length flashback like this. We'll probably see that final few hours from Mae's perspective. We need a contrast between Torbin and Sol's perspectives too. That may be blended with Mae's flashback or standalone.
The problem is too many viewers want instant gratification and want to know everything immediately. They are incapable of patience OR actually thinking it thru.
I really enjoyed seeing the clash of cultures in Star Wars. The Jedi of course have been the main focus of this franchise forever so I really liked seeing how other semi-religious groups across the Galaxy react to the Jedi enforcing their way of life onto people across the galaxy whether they like it or not. Seeing the Witches have no choice but to give in to the Jedis demands because they would face serious consequences from a galactic government they're not even officially a part of really fascinated me. Learning about the sociopolitical climate of the Star Wars Universe is what's keeping me very interested in the show so far. I think this is the strongest episode so far, and I hope the show can keep its decent momentum.
"A certain point of view" is on full display in this episode. We're initially weary of the witch coven and side with the Jedi, but then the Jedi seem like the invasive aggressors. It's Aniseya and Sol who instill a sense of trust in their respective groups.
Concerning effects for the Force, shoves and blocks should feature ripples of clothing, hair, even destruction and push/pull of the environment. It would not only show how the Force can be manipulated on outside objects, but how it can be wielded to repel Force attacks and create a bodily shield for the user.
If you notice torbin’s scar appears after the witches are killed. So i think the Jedi stormed the fort and it just so happened their cover story was happening
My theory is that the Jedi infiltrated the coven fortress at the same time Mai and Osha thing was happening. That reactor was important, they showed it early on in the episode. Indara and Torbin began slaughtering the coven and Sol went looking for the girls. Kalnacca is the technical one, we see him fixing the speeder. He was the one that sabotaged the reactor, causing the explosion and spreading the fire. Torbin was wounded in the fight, you see for a brief moment at the end of the episode with his ruined eye, which wasn't present the the initial meeting with the Jedi. Clearly the inquisition/slaughter didn't sit well with Torbin which is why he retreated to that meditation state. That's what I was able to put together with all of the context clues.
I don't think the Jedi went after the Coven like that. Mother Koril was hostile to them from the get go, wanted to murder them. I do think the Jedi showed up at the coven to make sure Osha's choice was respected. I'm willing to bet Koril escalated things possible by using that mind trick on torbin and from there things spun out of control.
@@WeAreTheBentusi Mother Koril being hostile and escalating is reasonable. Indara was under some sort of order from the Jedi council in regards to the Coven though. They didn't know about the children initially, so Indara must have had some sort of instruction from the council to assess and potentially eliminate the coven if deemed a threat. Unless Indara went rogue against the Order. Sol seemed to be unaware of any directive.
@@KevinDPomeroy let's see - they've already broken into your compound, asserted their right to test your children, put their law above yours even tho you're no part of the republic, manipulated your child... Yeah I'd say she had reason to be hostile
Adam with the true narc energy siding with the force cops (half-joking here). The Jedi were polite, but I don't think they were ever going to accept leaving without the kids.
So my understanding of what has happened so far is that Torbin was ordered by Indara to do what they did to the Witches and then 6 years later (since he had been in meditation for 10 years before his suicide), he learned the truth about WHY they were told to kill the Witches. He must have not understood the length the Jedi would take to keep power for themselves and when he finally discovered it, took to meditation to try and alleviate his guilt.
HAHAHA HAHAHAHA !!!! The creator said she gave lightsaber colours for Jedi just because she felt like it. Now u r saying concepts of rashomon n all.. HAHAHAHA..... U guys are so deluded. It's people like you hollywood is dying and star wars is dead
Have to wait for other episodes to confirm but since this was the first one to have a one word title and was a flashback focusing on Osha id wager there's one coming later on that's focused on Mae.. This episode's director I think also directs the penultimate episode so could be then.
Adam was hung up on the technicality that the Jedi didn't SAY they weren't giving the "Nightsisters" a choice, when the subtext was pretty clear that if the Nightsisters didn't acquiesce, there would be trouble. Being intimidated into giving permission isn't really consent.
That part. That scene made me think what if you were a parent who didn’t have the force when several Jedi show up to test your child. There is very much a power dynamic at play. The Jedi are trained to use the force and in combat. It’s not a good look for the Jedi. That power play/dynamic doesn’t necessarily go away when they meet these witches. We know that some have force ability but that doesn’t mean they are fighters too.
Indara got cut off. I don't think she was gonna say "under Republic law we're allowed to take the children", I think she was gonna say "under Republic law children may not be taught how to use the Force, except by the Jedi Order". Aniseya seems to imply that their coven's numbers were dwindling because they weren't allowed to train children.
@@BravoDox Which would be irrelevant either way, since they established they are not in Republic space, and therefore the Jedi have no jurisdiction. The Jedi here were going all Team America; "Je-di! F- yeah!"
Also wanted to throw out how much Lee Jung-Jae is nailing his performance. Not just the fact that he learned the English Language to play this part but the emotion and depth he is able to bring particularly in the scene where's he's comforting Osha on the ship and is visibly crying shows that he is not okay with whatever happened in comparison to Indara and Francis padawan who are standing very calm and almost cold in the back. He is selling me on Jay's theory that either Sol doesn't know what truly happened or he does and is very against it.
I completely agree. Seeing him get emotional with that right along with Osha hit me way harder than I was expecting. It’s like you said he either doesn’t know the whole story or does and isn’t OK with it. He’s definitely my favorite character so far. Osha insisting they go back reminded me of Omega when Tech died and that very much didn’t help.
Considering how many religions we made up on just one planet, it makes sense that there should be different interpretations of the Force in a whole galaxy.
They "purged" that Coven. The training session before the Ascension kinda had a "vibe" like they can train ANYONE to connect to "The Thread". And by extension, EVERYONE. EVERYONE If everyone is special, no one will be special.....
A lot seem to be assuming the witches to be good, to assume they're not bad people or did bad things. Maybe they've fought the Jedi before, maybe they lost and maybe there were terms and conditions... like not raising force users.
Why would the jedi care about being special? Thats the sith. The jedi already believe the force resides in every living thing and everyone has it they dont see it as their superpower
if the jedi really did that and the purpose of the knights of the republic was to make sure all force users were under the temple's control, then order 66 was their karma.
Adam I love you but how can you stand by the fire in space thing with the multiple other occasions of fire in space in Star Wars plus it’s science fiction why does it matter. I can’t understand people who get laser swords but can’t suspend their disbelief with fire in space
So funny watching people comment and not comprehend that this episode is literally supposed to be inconclusive. This is Osha’s pov - clearly not the entirety of the story lmao.
@@ernstfrutphlinguhr2494 It did a very bad job of establishing that it was from osha's pov. I agree its what the show was likely trying to do. It should have had her narrate like a sentence at the beginning or something as a framing device.
@@ernstfrutphlinguhr2494 I think people are choosing not to as it’s any easy way to hate on the show 🤷🏼♀️ rather than using actual valid critisism (which says a lot about there reasonings for ‘hating’ it).
@@earlmason1954 Doesn't the episode start out from her POV? And we never get Mae's side of things until the end of the ep. The whole ep when Mae left the room it stayed on Osha. The only time it really left Osha was when it went to the moms.
There’s more to the story we just saw Osha’s perspective on what happened I guarantee we will get another angle to this flashback. I thought it was a great episode A lot of parallels to Anakin and the twins not having a father both birthed from The Force. Like many things in Star Wars it wraps around in a circle. It’s fine if you don’t like this just don’t bring down the people who are enjoying it
We never actually see Mae break that later to start the fire, so it may not have happened the way we think. Also that generator room looked like it was being torn apart by something (the force) and not just fire damaged
I sense sith involvement somehow. There were two extremes in the night sister(?) group, but ultimately they were pretty level headed, which doesn't mesh with the philosophy of "dark side users", since they're all about power. I think we havent yet seen the deal with the devil that culminated in osha and maes birth, and that character will end up being a sith.
One thing almost nobody is talking about is that mysterious figure that was at the Ascension ceremony who we never saw the face of. They pretty much disappeared when the Jedi interrupted the ceremony so I believe they have something to do with it. Possibly a Sith, but who knows? I’m guessing we’ll find out who that was in a later episode from another character’s perspective
I'm with Jay on the Jedi being the baddies. We are used to seeing them during war time. This is day to day Jedi with no big bad to go against. They throw their weight around. There's a reason Jedi quit and go work at the Footlocker. We saw scenes of Anakin being a snot in AoTC. But we also see Jedi act exactly like that in other content. So it's not just Anakin being Anakin. This episode is like Disney going to WB and stopping them from making superhero movies unless they make Marvel movies for them. Oh and when it comes to the Force. The coven's should show the thread. We can see it only as an audience representation of how they mentally see it. Kinda like the Nightsister green. When Jedi and Sith (2 sides of a double headed coin) use the Force, you hear a rumble.
Did anyone else notice when the 4 jedi 1st approach the coven during the ceremony, the jedis breath can be seen, like it's cold. But you never see any of the witches breath when they talk. That's gotta be somethin..
I remember reading ages ago that the galaxy was always peppered with small time rogue force mercenaries and force cults, of which the Sith were 1st among equals.
I thought this episode what Horribly written in general, with a few bright spots of Really Great lines. That was one of them. I WANTED the story of an alternative culture of force users to hold in contrast with the Jedi. What we got was something that felt like the white woman shouting way too loud at a BLM march.
I love the mix between serious analysis on how the Jedi and witches interact and “The secret ingredient is Hhhrrrrrrrhops.” And I’d be more inclined to be sympathetic to the witches if the way they were raising Mae and Osha wasn’t so messed up. Teaching them that they’re the same person clearly gave them both issues even before Mae tried to kill Osha rather than be separated from her. No wonder Osha nearly shot her last episode.
The fire thing is perfectly realistic if it was the right kind of pipe, that’s how rockets work after all, but if the fire thing is bothering people then I’ve got some bad news about how sound works in space.
4:33 "Ok, we're getting somebody else's understanding of the Force." First, let me thank you both SO MUCH for your positivity. That is a REFRESHING thing to see where this show is concerned, and I appreciate that much more than the thumbnails that say "Lesbian commie space witches can impregnate each other with the Force." Bless you both. Secondly, I feel the urge to point this out because Dave Filoni REALLY mashed up the Dathomiri witches when he took that concept from the EU books: all Nightsisters are witches, but not all witches are Nightsisters, just like all Jedi are Force users, but not all Force users are Jedi. The Nightsisters are basically the Sith of the witch covens. They embrace the Dark Side of the force, which is why their magick is colored that specific "villain green," the glowing green that get used as shorthand for anything toxic/deadly. So, while this coven of Mother Aniseya's may be Force-wielding witches, their very diversity points to them being something other than Nightsisters, though it SEEMS like they embrace some of the Dark elements, too. My take on the bit at the beginning with the translucent butterfly/moth thing is that Osha did grab it through the Force and was doing whatever it was Mae does a little later, but Osha could not follow through. Perhaps she was supposed to kill it or crush it or something, but she couldn't bring herself to do so. Later, we see Mae REALLY go for it with both hands, and whatever she is doing she is focused and following through, but Osha makes her stop. And then Osha says she doesn't want to be a witch, which indicates to me that maybe they are doing some darker stuff with their magick. Obviously this flashback is from Osha's specific and Certain Point of View™ so we don't yet have all the answers. It will be interesting to see how the truth really goes.
Explicitly said by the show runner that they are *not* Nightsisters. I don’t know why either, but she was directly asked and she said “no. These are different witches”
@@louiscastro1324 I just wish they came up with a different fun scifi/fantasy nomenclature than “witch” and “coven”. I mean, the parallels of Jedi and samurai/knights are obvious enough that a new neat name could work 🤷🏻♂️
@@Greenhawk4 that’s the drawback in my mind of not giving them a distinct name. People hear “witches” and think of the only other named witches in the IP. It’s like if a group of characters calling themselves “Jedi” were introduced and we had to be told “oh, no they aren’t the Jedi you’re thinking of, they’re just another Force wielding laser sword armed sect, but they aren’t related. See? Their clothes are different”. It doesn’t break the setting, it’s just needlessly confusing
Really cool look at a new force using sect and their different beliefs, morality, and practices. I loved this. Very powerful and emotional. I also loved the strong Rashomon influence coming through with Osha as an unreliable narrator at the end. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
I would say both sisters are unrealiable in recalling events. I would venture if that Sith master is involved in any way, he probably had a hand in helping possessing the Jedi there, turning them on everyone and each other, and possibly rearranging their memories of what transpired.
@@erikvina3587Frankly, the Jedi could easily do all of that too. I am not sure about the sith being involved here, but I am very sure that Mae wasn’t the one who set the fire (she was either controlled in that scene, or that was a force vision imprinted into Osha’s head as a new memory after the fact) and I believe the Jedi must’ve been on some *very* bad ish for torbin to be carrying around enough guilt to take the barash vow and then the poison
I’m sure the comments on this will be totally peaceful and absolutely positive 😁 In all seriousness much love to you guys. I appreciate your reactions and your bits every time. It makes every show you react to (good or bad) all the better.
There were massive ship explosions, Slave 1's seismic bombs, oh hey, did anybody think that maybe the fire was burning the escaping atmosphere generated in the massive freighter?
@@stubbywankenobi1well GL did specially say the galaxy that Star Wars takes place in has less vacuum in space actually. However I will also note that space is not actually a vacuum. There isn’t NO sound. There is basically effectively no sound sure to our ears and through a spaceship. But there is “sound” technically. There is sound waves propagated through space just incredibly poorly lol. Space is full of cosmic radiation and dust and even air etc. it’s just like way less dense.
Are we absolutely sure Osha and Mae are two different people? I’m getting a Dissociative Identity Disorder/split personality due to childhood trauma type vibe. Idk. It keeps crossing my mind so I’m just tossing it out there.
At least some of the Jedi actually believe they're responsible. There's way more to this story than we're led to believe. A simple door fire can't possibly be the reason for the death of the entire coven. Nor do I think the Jedi would just blindly kill, especially not in the era of the High Republic. There's a third party here we have not been made aware of. These *aren't* Nightsisters? That's...certainly a choice. Would've added to what happened at the end of "Ahsoka".
First of all it makes me WILDLY happy that Jay mentioned my comment about the oldest MitM brother in a fake beard! That was a good stream BTW Jay, I love seeing you make the TikToks and then finding them in App. Second, I think the fact that Republic law doesn't permit other force using cultures to teach children has some very dark implications. Like the Jedi are the state sponsored religion and they're using the law to quietly wipe out the other religions by robing them of the next generation. It has this gros "this is socially acceptable gentile genocide" flavor to it
At first I attributed the fire and destruction spreading so rapidly (downwards at that) to bad writing. But with all the witches dead for no apparent reason as well, it sure looks like something big happened. I am guessing thorny Mother Koril acted rashly and then a fight broke out.
I kind of wondered if the fire in space was an intentional choice to make fun of the fact that Star Wars has always had fire in space, and a lot of people have always complained about it, but instead it triggered all of those same people. A lot of the Star Wars shows have made plenty fun of the fact stormtroopers have bad aim, so I could definitely see them leaning in to other memes.
I don't think that force abilities should have more special effects, though I understand Jay's reasons for feeling like something is missing. The lack of visualised force energy has always been a hallmark of Star Wars, distinguishing it from "magic" in other media, and the power is better represented by distinct sound design, object reaction and amateur theatre level acting (jokes, i personally buy it) 🙃 Plus, the force is much more of a "holy" energy, so its invisibleness helps sell its sacredness.
I don’t think it was Mae that threatened Osha with killing her. That was way too extreme even for Mae. The way the Sith Lord was messing with Osha giving her visions of Mae the past episodes, I think they did it back then too.
Seeing Jodie Turner-Smith in this role makes me want to see her as Storm in the MCU. The monologues, the regal stature, the ability to be soft and strong.
This epsiode was bad. Terrible dialogue, terrible editing, and pisses me off that they need to shi* on George Lucas and his established principles of the force. Why do they feel the need to blow up canon????
man this is a way better comment section about the episode than literally any other star wars related review I've seen so far haha. No hate just heyyy this is what i thought. love it
@@bullseyecello I sure thought there was some "Force-pushing" there and other fights. I mean, the phrase "Force-pushing" already is in the lexicon and everything.
my thoughts excactly, somethings not adding up here. yeah mae and the thorny-crown-mother on one side have an attitude and are hostile, but how trinity-jedi acts on the other side is also quite fishy. and the behaviour of sol in the last scene seemed really guilt ridden. My money is on that Indara did something, which led to an escalation with the sisterhood.
I think the witches cross over into Sith territory. The line of "what will the Jedi do if they found how how you made them." Comes across as dark Sith science to me.
So according to the showrunner, the coven is BASED on the Dathomirian witches but aren't ACTUALLY the same. But the original pitch for the show was Ventress origin story, so they definitely have the same bones (hah) in their creative make-up. BUT, rumors are that Filoni was directly involved in the cult's writing/creation, and considering his thing with Dathomirian stuff, I think that might be retconned to be a connection in universe.
Thank you guys for being another voice of reason when it comes to this show. Your reaction isn't much different than mine. It's a breath of fresh air compared to all the vitriol out there.
lol it deserves all the hate its getting. Black Space lesbians being stronger than all the Sith because "hate men" is the most cringe fanfic ever created.
@@saltybulldog3241 Were you just as triggered by the Night Sisters, as well? Also, Palpatine destroyed the witches because they were becoming too strong for the Sith to contend with. You're just a bigot who spends too much time on social media. The Night Sisters and Palpatine destroying them was all George Lucas and Dave Filoni. Were they "woke" too?
I don't think Force powers need more effects. But tractor beams do (so hard to depict motion and motionlessness in space visually as it is). Exploring other Force-using traditions is a big part of at least one Phase of the High Republic books (particularly on Jedha), so it was neat to see that notion carryover to this show with this Coven in this episode. Makes everything feel very thematically sound and crafted.
With regards to the force, the way I see it is when a Jedi does a force push, it is not the Jedi pushing the target back with some kind of magic, but they are willing the force to do it for them. So it’s the force moving the target, not the Jedi. The witches were clearly using the force, they just referred to it as something else.
Never expected a Fivel reference in this reaction 😂 I also love cultural Star Wars, Jay! And I am also Team Coven/Possible Nightsisters. I really enjoyed this episode, even if the abuse of power made me angry. Imo the Mae that set the fire was influenced or some sort of force illusion. Looking forward to seeing this unfold.
Honestly, even just a geen glow jn their eyes to show that they are using dathomiri magik, and perhaps a faint green shield/barrier where the two spells collide. Or perhaps it should be blueish, on account of them seeming more like the Mountain clan than the Night clan
Interesting that this planet has two moons just like Tython. Since this is a coven of force sensitive witches they must have chosen a planet that is strong in the force. But they don't seem to be dark side force users. When Mother Anisye does the "Ascension Ceremony" the Red and Blue Moons are "Conjunct" in the sky above them.
I've seen so much hate for this show amd all the star wars shows since mando season 2. Some of the hate is warranted, but I feel that it's gone a bit too far.
It’s a hate of Disney unfortunately if it’s connected to Disney then any storytelling needs to be amazing and original but if it’s too original then people want it more like everything else
fr like I understand hate and that you can do it if its warranted but these people acting like its the worst star wars thing are just overreacting and exaggerating it.
Nope, they make a story were, Anakin is not special, were some random witch cult, had more power than any Sith, or Jedi, the ability to create life, was not even accomplished by Darth Sidious, now all of the sudden some random witches can, diminishes the purpose of Anakin birth. They just want to slap their name in STAR WARS and retcon anything George did, like they did in the past, thankfully this crap is cancelled, and the people in charge have been fired, we are just missing Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy, but is comming very soon, as it it´s right now Star Wars is dead.
Jay is 100% right to be on the covens side....Adam cannot grasp the concept of the Jedi being the bad guys.....and the secret ingredient to WPA beer joke deserves an award!!!
15:40 there was a effect there, have you see the heatwaves distorting air around jet? that type of effect was there. how do i know? i just know. there was there but then showrunner said "we are not air benders" and the effect ere removed. they could have added many different effects like wave vibration around only hands or oscillation of particle light ever so slightly like 5% so that it's transparent but effect is still visible..... yaa there could have been but in all the starwars movies and show there hasn't been any effect apart from sound when it comes to force.
Not all Clans/Covens of Witches are Nightsisters. The Nightsisters are just one type of Witch. The Mountain Clan we saw in Tales of the Jedi are a separate group of Witches, they are not Nightsisters. This group of Witches seems very different than any of the other groups we've encountered so far, so it's unlikely that they are Nightsisters. Edit: The official Star Wars twitter just confirmed they are not Nightsisters.
I don't think the witches coven is dark side forces users. Mother Anisaye spiral on her forehead look like a Yin/Yang symbol in the middle. Also, during the "Ascension Ceremony" the Red and Blue moons were "Conjunct". They seem to pulling from both light and dark side of the force. This could explain why Osha seem to be a light side force user, and Mae seems to be a dark side force user. But Anakin Skywalker who was created by Darth Sidious turn to the dark side of the force.
@@HellBot-gi5siYeah, Mother Aniseya and her coven seem to be neutral on the side of things, although the galaxy apparently rejected them and drove them to the brink of their extinction. Similar to the Nightsisters, but they have many differences, such as their powers. Mother Aniseya’s spell she put on Torbin to control his mind does seem to be driven more to the Dark Side however, hence the black eyes, but we don’t really have enough information about this coven to really guess anything. Lesyle Headland literally made the force about herself and her personal romantic life with her wife who btw she casted in the show. Most narcissistic thing I’ve ever seen a Hollywood director do and that’s saying something. If this doesn’t repulse you nothing will…
You gotta know that the hatred this show is getting is coming from right-wing conservative religious types who absolutely depise anything they see as "woke". To this group of people, "woke" is anything not heteronormative and white. It's like they can relate to Luke because he is a white farmer, but they just simply can't understand anything different from that. They are like red-state Trump supporters.
@@andrewwall4155 how? How has she made the force All about her and her wife? How has that effected the story? Point at what is being said that reflects that? The force is a belief system, there is no one way to belive in it that is "correct" in my opinion. And the whole light and dark side interpretation has always sat a little wonky for me so if that is what you're pointing at as "correct" for the force well then I think you're really playing in the shallows. I mean even luke struggled with that interpretation in the EU before Disney nuked it. This is a brand new look at the starwars universe and thats going to be a bit different as different people and writers will have different viewpoints. Also nepotism in Hollywood? You don't say.... wow it's not like writers and directors cast friends and people they know in films all the time. If it has negatively effected the acting I havnt seen it yet. What I'm hearing is that you hate the show on principle because you don't like someone.... you can not like the writer or director or even Disney. But none of that has anything to do with the show itself and the art thats been created. People can dislike stuff for any reason but that is no reason to try and ruin the experience for others.
I'm still unclear with what happened in the end. I'm assuming the Jedi killed the coven. Then Mai seeing this happen went to see Osha and burned the place to the ground now seeing the Jedi as the enemy.
Adam and Jay...ummm...the young girls who play the twins ARE twins. Lauren Brady and Leah Brady. Apparently fraternal, not Identical. Not sure where people got it that they are just 2 random actresses?
I think it keeps its consistency to not have a special effect for the force. Makes it feel more powerful and connected. Like air, you can’t see it unless against something, like how Kylo pushed back the blaster bolt and Rey’s lightsaber
I don’t think there should be a visual effect for showing the use of the force. For me, the best way to make the force feel impactful is when combined with music and really good sound design.
These are exiled witches from Dathomir, but they aren't Nightsisters. It is another tribe, just like the Mountain Tribe was another coven of witches in Tales of the Empire.
lol I do love you adam but you can’t just “stand by” the statement there’s no fire in space. A leaking flammable gas container would have zero problem burning. Also.. the sun lol Nice reaction tho have a nice day
I know a lot of people have an issue with "seeing" the Force, but I mean maaybbeee they could do a little bit. Like the cinematic trailers for The Old Republic have very visible force pushes that look pretty much like airbending; they could do a lite version of that. I don't mind it looking like nothing's happening, and it kinda allows for kids to roleplay easier too lol

The name Aniseya in ancient Greek means "Resurrection".
People are saying that the creator planned this as a homage to "Rashomon".
We may see this flashback again, but different.

F- yeah!"
Jedi cop behavior on display for real.
Hes literally the lone bright spot in this latest attempt at star wars
Considering how many religions we made up on just one planet, it makes sense that there should be different interpretations of the Force in a whole galaxy.

So funny watching people comment and not comprehend that this episode is literally supposed to be inconclusive. This is Osha’s pov - clearly not the entirety of the story lmao.
I am so confused how so many people aren't getting that. Even with my very low baseline for human cognitive functions, this seems egregiously low.
@@ernstfrutphlinguhr2494 It did a very bad job of establishing that it was from osha's pov. I agree its what the show was likely trying to do. It should have had her narrate like a sentence at the beginning or something as a framing device.

THANK YOU!!!
There’s more to the story we just saw Osha’s perspective on what happened I guarantee we will get another angle to this flashback. I thought it was a great episode A lot of parallels to Anakin and the twins not having a father both birthed from The Force. Like many things in Star Wars it wraps around in a circle. It’s fine if you don’t like this just don’t bring down the people who are enjoying it
I am holding on to the hope that they are pulling a Rashomon with the flashback story.
"This us about power, and who can use it."
The Coven is the worst kind of "threat". One that can see through your deception.
I thought this episode what Horribly written in general, with a few bright spots of Really Great lines. That was one of them. I WANTED the story of an alternative culture of force users to hold in contrast with the Jedi. What we got was something that felt like the white woman shouting way too loud at a BLM march.
I love the mix between serious analysis on how the Jedi and witches interact and “The secret ingredient is Hhhrrrrrrrhops.”
And I’d be more inclined to be sympathetic to the witches if the way they were raising Mae and Osha wasn’t so messed up.
Well, we got some answers and gained even more questions. Curious to see where we go from here.

It's ok Disney Star Wars ,THE REAL FANS ,THOSE FROM THE BEGINNING have the high ground
Explicitly said by the show runner that they are *not* Nightsisters. I don’t know why either, but she was directly asked and she said “no. These are different witches”

I'm with Jay. Team Night Sisters.
The only special visual effect the Force needs is Force Lightning.
i prefer my Force use not to be accompanied by pretty sparkles.
They should do that purple thing that happened when Mai received her marking whenever the purple witches use the force.
It has this gros "this is socially acceptable gentile genocide" flavor to it
The only problem this show suffers from is not spoon feeding information to people and making them think for themselves.....
At first I attributed the fire and destruction spreading so rapidly (downwards at that) to bad writing. But with all the witches dead for no apparent reason as well, it sure looks like something big happened. I am guessing thorny Mother Koril acted rashly and then a fight broke out.
Speaking of Omega when Bad Batch S3 on TH-cam?
Fire in space is such a weird debate because star wars has had that since the 70s
The destruction of the super star destroyer certainly comes to mind
Exactly. And if it's an issue of that doesn't make sense because of science then the lasers everyone fires shouldn't make sound
Also, Adam's shirt is a bunch of things in 70s era Star Wars that could not actually happen in space 🤣
@@proteuswest1084 when it comes to fantasy I try not to be picky about that kind of stuff
The way the Sith Lord was messing with Osha giving her visions of Mae the past episodes, I think they did it back then too.
yeah that escalated quickly
Seeing Jodie Turner-Smith in this role makes me want to see her as Storm in the MCU. The monologues, the regal stature, the ability to be soft and strong.

I think the witches cross over into Sith territory. The line of "what will the Jedi do if they found how how you made them." Comes across as dark Sith science to me.

The Coven is something else. They are Grey, I think.

I enjoyed Ep. 3 the most so far! I'm intrigued as to what happened to the witches - was it Mae?
Fun fact: The name Aniseya in ancient Greek means "Resurrection".
With regards to the force, the way I see it is when a Jedi does a force push, it is not the Jedi pushing the target back with some kind of magic, but they are willing the force to do it for them. So it’s the force moving the target, not the Jedi. The witches were clearly using the force, they just referred to it as something else.
Never expected a Fivel reference in this reaction 😂
I also love cultural Star Wars, Jay! And I am also Team Coven/Possible Nightsisters. I really enjoyed this episode, even if the abuse of power made me angry. Imo the Mae that set the fire was influenced or some sort of force illusion. Looking forward to seeing this unfold.

You gotta know that the hatred this show is getting is coming from right-wing conservative religious types who absolutely depise anything they see as "woke". And the whole light and dark side interpretation has always sat a little wonky for me so if that is what you're pointing at as "correct" for the force well then I think you're really playing in the shallows.
We will see. One important note. The name Aniseya in ancient Greek means "Resurrection".
'Hghaaaaaaops' had me laugh out loud. Very loud.
I don’t think there should be a visual effect for showing the use of the force. For me, the best way to make the force feel impactful is when combined with music and really good sound design.
Seeing Tommen as a Jedi and not jumping from a window is pretty cool.
Also.. the sun lol
Nice reaction tho have a nice day
This show is supposed to show the Jedi in a darker light.
So, who’s remembering this story? Was everything we saw the way it actually happened?
Ezra didn't need any ripples, the force is his ally
