      Reddey lol i play league but why wouldnt i acknowledge that another game has bigger events. its just stupid how people like you just think in a box and then write a comment about it. if you are not mature enough to respect other games and their players then you probably shouldnt play at all. i knew that dota and dreamhack are bigger than league worlds and i dont mind. bcs in the end it comes down to which game you like the most.

    • @alexzandy1372
      @alexzandy1372 7 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Only smile? Yes, Dota has a much larger prize pools than LoL, but that's not the only thing. Dota is a more complex (Creep/ hero denies, high ground/low ground, more activatable items rather than passive increases, less spammable spells...) and therefore skillful game to play, was around before LoL and has all the heroes/champions available for free. If you really think the prize pool is the only thing Dota is superior in then I'd suggest you do some research before posting again.

I mean, pretty much everyone understands guys trying to hit and not get hit, even if you think a DP is only something that happens in porn. But to me a lot of the more popular games are just a bunch of tiny people running around.

    2016 - LoL World Champion - 43 million unique viewers and US$ 6.7 million.
    2016 - Dota 2 The International - 5 million viewers and US$ 19.1 million
    How is the International bigger? They have 3x the prize pool, however Worlds have 8x the viewership.

    • @derekfurst6233
      @derekfurst6233 7 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      viewers STREAMING. dota viewers dont fucking watch on streams. we watch in-game. its not video, we acutally load up the live matches and render them in our game client. Most of us watch this way. ALso viewership and prize aren't even what counts. the dota production value of the event blows league out of the water

    • @nightmagister
      @nightmagister 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Derek Furst The statistics counts both in game and streamed viewers.
      Also the production value of Worlds is quite higher than TI. Just take the 2014 World Championship held in Korea, the finals, for example, we're held in thee largest football stadium of Korea, the same that held a 2012 World Cup Semifinals.
      Also LoL's Worlds is actually an INTERNATIONAL event being held in many cities and countries, with over 20 different language official streams. While the international is just an American event with international teams.

      Bryson Blount It's a third person shooter, with really free movement, making your inputs really important. It has some really creative focus points, such as turf war not being about getting kills, but covering ground. Rank modes offer a more technical way to play. And at high level, communicating with your team, and knowing the map is ettential. The game even has gear that affects your abilities, and the weapons comes in set, you can't pick a sub or special weapon manually, so it's really important what set you pick.
      Or if you wanna be quick about it, ur opinion is misleading and ignorant, since you clearly have not done the slightest of research.

    Not sure what your criteria is but your failure to note that league of legends has the largest viewership and has had the largest number of viewers at one time for a single event. Not to mention selling out huge arenas including a football world cup stadium.
    Instead you mention prizepools and repeat a clip from 2009 and show a few seconds of no action from 2016. Very poor showing and seems very biased when all the others had action clips. I usually rate these vids and although I'm not a fan of riot games or the community you can't pretend the facts dont exist when creating a video for your viewers.
    Maybe include a couple of the more relevant facts next time.
    (If it wasn't clear I'm not arguing about what rank it should be, just that the clips and descriptions for LoL were terribly done)

    • @cookiedoughdynamo2747
      @cookiedoughdynamo2747 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Granted Worlds has more viewership, but The International is genre and industry defining. If you want to take on additional factors you have to consider that too. The International (and by extension Dota 2) sets the standards, that Worlds - despite its reach - has yet just attempted to emulate.

      That's where you're wrong babe.
      Dota players have to buy "battlepass" in dota 2 which are created by valve and only 25-35% of the money goes to the event itself so Valve does not throw all their money into it; we do.

    Prize pool really shouldn't matter as much as they are factoring it in here. It doesn't matter how much money you give away, what matters is viewers and popularity. While the international is probably still #2 in that regard, nothing is more popular and garners more viewers world wide than LOL Worlds

      "Biggest eSport Tournament" you can cry all you want about viewership but what you need to consider is the event itself and how it is marketed. Valve had the balls to make an event with a high prizepool which increases every year and so does the production value. Majority of the viewers were also big contributors of the event in contrast to Lol's audience which just watch casually. Basically, Valve knows how to make a good event and profit off it while Riot just wants the profit

    • @Tyler-jn9tz
      @Tyler-jn9tz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you really saying League production is shit? LoL championship literally had a flying dragon in the arena, live performances by quality artists, along with other very cool visuals. The most I've seen from other tournaments is shiny lights, including Dota tournaments. Just because their prizepool is higher, doesn't mean their production is going to be more. If anything, it makes it worse? Less money, less to spend on other things like visuals, artists, group performances, different broadcast teams. I think there is no doubt, Worlds is the esport event to beat when it comes to popularity / entertainment value.

    • @1ntoTheAbyss
      @1ntoTheAbyss 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HaHaHa, I'm still at least 8 years away from the aging 40 mark. I see your point but the difference is still minute. There could be enough 30+ players that could hold their own but none are present. This may be do to obligations of business or family. Though seeing the realm consisting mostly of 28 and under makes it seem juvenile. I admit being younger has the advantage of speed but the older would balance it out with tact. I think the reasoning of not seeing older people on the sceen is not due to failure but one of revenue.

      Jesus Senpai the only reason why Dota has a bigger prize pool is because they take a % of all the in game purchases and put that towards the prize pool for the International. League has always gotten all the money from Riot, who set a $1,000,000 prize. It was only this past year, the 2016 Worlds, that near the end of the year they announced all purchases from that point on would have a % of the money going to the Prize Pool. And they ended up getting $5,000,000 in the few months before the championship. If they had been doing it the whole time, imagine how much money they would make the Prize Pool
