What makes Glen's death worse is that they made it seem like he died mid Season. Suddenly came up with a lame excuse a few episodes later that shows how he got out of it only to kill him off in the first episode of the following season

Sweets death from Bones is still so upsetting that even the clip you had to include makes me mad. He was the glue that held that show together for me. Also, the death of Tine, The Mother on How I Met Your Mother is what made the single worst series finale I've ever seen and that show felt more like a long con the a sitcom since they decided on that ending in SEASON TWO! Almost ten years later, and I'm still salty over Lexa getting killed off in "The 100." I know that Alycia Debnam Carey wanted to leave, but they could have easily picked a better reason.
Having grown up with the Arrowverse, Laura's death was a good pick for this list. It didn't stop me from watching it (been a while though) it definitely hurt. Though an honourable mention would be when they killed off Robin Hood at the end of Once Upon A Time season 5. I was really hooked onto his beautiful relationship with Regina, especially since they had good chemistry and they both brought out the good in each other (mainly him for her), so when he suddenly died I could barely get into season 6 before just giving up.
@@Sharken-ob9guirrelevant. It was a colossal failure on the shows part to bring Negan out, put him in the crosshairs and nobody shoots him? They kept him alive to continue the story, but it’s the kind of stupid writing that turns people off.
As for Lost, killing Jin and Sun was part of the plan for years. The producers never intended them to reach the end alive. Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley were meant to be the last ones standing.
I’m probably the biggest Walden Schmidt defender I know. That character deserved better treatment because he’s had his own fair share of great episodes! But yeah, Two and a Half Men wasn’t the exact same show since.
Marshall killing off Lily in his mind so he won't feel guilty about fantasising about other women is far less funny when the writers later did the actual thing to Tracy. Even worse, it was likely intended to be foreshadowing.
@@shadowdragonlord2295 He was found dead next to a treadmill machine, Scientology encouraged physical activity to purify his body. This goes against all doctors recommendations after a stroke.
Charlie Harper - Two and a half men after Charlie Sheen was fired that show was done for. & Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen actually made the show Worse.
So showing up late, being drunk and stoned on set, and being abusive and disruptive on set should be allowed then, because Sheen did all these things. Sick of all the Charlie Sheen enablers. Jon Cryer says that he never wants to work with Charlie Sheen again, as he is "unprofessional" and he applauded Sheen being sacked.
Not a tv series, but my biggest peeve in books or anime series is when the strongest and interesting characters die. My best example is an anime series "Fairy Tail", Laxus is a very strong character who will end you in 5 seconds yet he gets taken out at the very beginning of every major battle and you don't see him again for another 100 chapters, yet the weakest has one fight early on and is done for but somehow has enough stamina to fight 3 more powerful enemies, on deaths door again and does a victory pose at the end.
I was so angry at Lost when they killed Juliet off at the end of S5 and then the showrunners did that to Sun & Jin, the two most popular and loved characters of the show. No one cared anymore about Jack or Kate stories tbh. I didn't like Lost last season at all.
When I rewatched it with my wife (who’d never seen it) the first episode when they were fighting got me so emotional thinking about what would happen, I ended up spoiling it for her but I couldn’t keep it together for some reason “NOTHING! NOTHING IS WRONG!” Haha . I was literally fine until they were having their little spat and suddenly just the whole story of them hit my brain all at once recalling every plot point to the end and she wouldn’t continue watching until I told her (the funny part was that she thought I was getting emotional because it was reminding me of a prior real life relationship I had so to also ease that I had to tell her but I kept warning her it would spoil the show but she was adamant I told her since she thought I was thinking of an ex) “alright, this is going to sound really stupid but … “
Once Upon a Time - killing off Baelfire/Neal. The whole reason Rumplestilskin went through years of putting together the everything needed to create a curse that would send him (and everyone else in the Enchanted Forest) to the real world was to reunite with his son & repair their relationship. But a trip to Neverland to save Henry, Neal's son from his great-grandfather who then followed them, resulted in Rumple's death & then Baelfire being cursed trying to bring his father back & in order to save Baelfire, Rumple joined them together, but once separated, Baelfire would die. Another would be the weird decision that the only way for everyone to return to the real world because of the Wicked Witch, was for Charming to sacrifice his heart for the curse, with Snow deciding to split her own heart to save Charming. They just made so many bad steps with the show, (like pairing Emma with a guy who treated her like a trophy, threatened to kill her family, flirted with her mom in front of her soon after they met, among many other things (some I saw, some I only read about)) that I quit watching at the end of season 3.
Anything past 2018. Seth didnt write for Family Guy. He doesnt have creative control like he used to on the show and mainly just voices now. He stepped back to concentrate on the Orville
The thing that makes me stop watching shows more than anything is not the deaths of certain characters, it's when there is a baby added to the mix. The best way to ruin a show is to play the pregnancy card. Shows are never the same after this, usually for the worse.
Killing off Logan on Veronica Mars deserves to be on this list. I guess it was conceived by showrunner Rob Thomas as a means to open up the show for more potential seasons on Hulu as Veronica isn’t supposed to be happy or something. Instead it just pissed everyone off and killed off any desire to watch any possible new episodes.
Okay, no offense for Glenn fans, I loved the guy, too. But his death? It was gonna happen anyway. Sure, the quality of the show slowly went down once Negan came on, but it wasn’t because of Negan himself or Glenn getting killed. It was the depressing writing that was taking place during Season 7. Hell, if anything, Negan himself was the best part of the Savior War seasons. However, if you wanna talk about the death that totally messed with the show? Hands down Carl's, no question. He was not ever supposed to die. Ever! Like the comics ending as well as what Negan said, that kid was the future. The only reason why he was killed was because Scott Gimple, the show runner at the time, had somewhat falling out with Chandler Riggs over minor BS. And because of that, it also led to Andrew Lincoln wanting out of the show, hence Rick's sudden departure a season later. And because of that, the whole storyline for the last few seasons really derailed compared to the source material. So if you wanna thank anyone? Thank Scott Gimple
When Glenn died in The Walking Dead it was hard to watch the rest of the series. And then they made other decisions that I didn't agree with and then I really stopped watching. I understand btw that it was comic accurate.
I hate that they killed off Laurel She was supposed to be with Oliver in the comics The show wanna do Olicity is fine, but they didn't have to kill off Laurel to secure it And it's not like it was the casting issue Because Katie Cassidy came right back as the Black Siren
I stopped watching The Good Doctor after season 3's finale (if you know, you know). The character's death was pointless and I am still angry about it. Also, unpopular opinion: Mark Sloane and Lexie Grey's deaths hurt way more than Derek Shepard's.
Imo killing Carl was worse than Glen on TWD, cuz Glen was always meant to die , even if fans never wanted it to happen. Carl was never meant to die, and they killed him anyway, if Glen's death was a sign that the show was going downhill, Carl's death confirmed it
Right from the first episode, the premise of How I Met Your Mother was obviously about the titular Mother's death, and what came before. The bit that ruined it was that Ted was still hung up on Robin.
Oh, Poussay from OITNB was just... wow. Crazy Eyes was part of the reason she died because a cop was trying to revive her, but CE kept hitting the cop and keeping him from doing his job.
If Walking Dead hadn’t been on this list I would have been floored. The show honestly should have ended when Andrew Lincoln left. It never felt right after.
That's when I stopped watching. I stuck through it for all the other deaths but, to ME, Rick was the anchor. He was there from the beginning and tied everything together. Once he was gone... that was it for me. I heard they brought him back recently, but it's too late for me to get interested in it again.
Dana from The L Word. The show completely spiraled after that season three knife to the chest Also, Tara from True Blood. I mean the show was already starting to get bad, but her death was bullshit.
There were THREE notable murders by the Saviors that should have been avenged. Glenn, Abraham and Denice. Ranked in that order, maybe. The losses might have been worth it, if we'd gotten our REVENGE. But instead, we got to see Rick become Negan's b!tch. The pussification of Rick is what ruined the Walking Dead. I won't waste my time watching a show with a poossyboy as the "hero".
I missed the Bones 10th season premier and did not see Sweets die. I heard about it the next day at work. I have never seen another episode of the show. In my world Sweets is still alive and well, mediating the arguments between Booth and Brennan. Take that Hollywood.
Definitely agree with Rita being number one. Her death so devastated and infuriated me because of how avoidable it was that I stopped watching the show right then and there
Some of these sound like they are straight up from hellers. Also I remember Isaac Hayes left because South Park made fun of Scientology and Hayes is a Scientologist. It’s why Chefs’ death was done in such an over the top and final way.
The original Roseanne series was going to end anyways with or without Dan, because most of the cast wanted to move on, even the network ABC wanted to end the series to green light Disney produced shows. Also Lost went downhill in season three with killing Eko and Charlie, that’s what really hurt the show! And Brian’s death in Family Guy doesn’t count, that’s was jumping the shark, the show was already unwatchable by that point!
Jonathan Kent, Smallville. I get they wanted Clark to be more on his own, but the show lost that sense of "family". Even though Clark was an adult, he still could've used some fatherly advice.
Jim Beaver wanted to leave Supernatural so they had to kill him off. And yes they did bring him back in flashbacks and finally as a reoccurring character again.
Not saying there wasn't much after his death, but Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey was a hard one for me. After his death it just seemed like they were pulling anything to bring drama into the show. Like Anna getting SAed, and going to prison after the man that did it dies. That storyline was so unnecessary.
@mangagirl9132 that's not true at all. He legit went to a collage closer to where filming took place. They fired him because they didn't want to pay him as an adult.
@@calzone3843thats not true either. Chandler Riggs' father was a hostile negotiator... and believed that since in the comics Carl becomes the main character that he was deemed unkillable... and thus played hardball trying to get more money. This has been long since documented and proven to be true.
I’m a massive fan of BONES. I can not describe how much sweets dying affected the show. It is when I gave up on the show. Season 10 sucked. Bones was already in decline after season 6. His death, Zach’s return, and Hodgins becoming a parabolic was the death Nell for the series. If not killing it
Glad you mentioned Carl's death for TWD too. Glenn was my favorite, and when they killed him off, showrunners explained they couldn't spare Glenn his comic book fate, as they'd done for other characters, because it would stray too far from the source material. Then they killed Carl, and that excuse became even more bullshit. They were trying to force a "Red Wedding" moment, and that's it.
I only started watching Supernatural this year just four years after it ended and I'm only in season two so thankfully I skipped that before the spoilers on how he passed although now I know he will eventually. Ugh. I was not expecting that.

Me too, I got so pissed that they denied Regina her happy ending
I stopped watching the Walking Dead when Rick had a chance to shoot Negan, and didnt
You clearly didn't watch enough to see Negan redeem himself
@@Sharken-ob9guirrelevant. It was a colossal failure on the shows part to bring Negan out, put him in the crosshairs and nobody shoots him? They kept him alive to continue the story, but it’s the kind of stupid writing that turns people off.
@@jayscott867 Doesn't matter
Ducky from NCIS that hurt the most why
What's even Sadder with the Actor who Played Ducky Actually Passed away.
... I didn't even know that they killed ducky.. I will always miss Dr Mallard
True but the actor who played him died in real life

Didn't the VA for Chef leave because of Scientology?
Yes.
Indeed, and Hayes son said it was Scientology recommended treatment for his stroke that ultimately killed him
Isaac Hayes

Charlie Harper - Two and a half men after Charlie Sheen was fired that show was done for. & Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen actually made the show Worse.
So showing up late, being drunk and stoned on set, and being abusive and disruptive on set should be allowed then, because Sheen did all these things.
Sick of all the Charlie Sheen enablers.
Jon Cryer says that he never wants to work with Charlie Sheen again, as he is "unprofessional" and he applauded Sheen being sacked.
The Dallas TV series never recovered when Bobby was killed off (even despite bringing him a year later).
Great example. Larry Hagman as JR lost
a worthwhile opponent in Patrick Duffy as Bobby. Same thing happened to Falcon Crest when Chase was killed off.
Henry Blake, M*A*S*H. The first time it was done in a comedy series.
I would have had Alison from the teen wolf TV show I was devastated when I found out in season 3 she died
🔥 name, duelist.
Next: top 20 cartoon character deaths that hurt the show
Why? So they can put dumbass Maude Flanders at #1? No thanks.
I was literally fine until they were having their little spat and suddenly just the whole story of them hit my brain all at once recalling every plot point to the end and she wouldn’t continue watching until I told her (the funny part was that she thought I was getting emotional because it was reminding me of a prior real life relationship I had so to also ease that I had to tell her but I kept warning her it would spoil the show but she was adamant I told her since she thought I was thinking of an ex) “alright, this is going to sound really stupid but … “
No mention of Jimmy Smits and later Sharon Lawrence on NYPD Blue?
Dr. ROMANO. Without him ER lacked any major conflict. ER may have lasted another 5 more season than it did had he not died so silly
Fr I would say it was Carl death that did TWD in
I 100 percent agree. Carl's death in Season 8 really hurt the show and it's fans.
It was because Rick was too poossay to get justice on Negan for Glenn, Abraham and Denice. Nobody wants a poossyboy for a "hero".
100% I gave up when carl died. I was a fan of Glenn but knew he was going to die because I've read the comic
When Glenn died in The Walking Dead it was hard to watch the rest of the series. And then they made other decisions that I didn't agree with and then I really stopped watching. I understand btw that it was comic accurate.
I hate that they killed off Laurel
She was supposed to be with Oliver in the comics
The show wanna do Olicity is fine, but they didn't have to kill off Laurel to secure it
And it's not like it was the casting issue
Because Katie Cassidy came right back as the Black Siren
I stopped watching The Good Doctor after season 3's finale (if you know, you know). The character's death was pointless and I am still angry about it.
Also, unpopular opinion: Mark Sloane and Lexie Grey's deaths hurt way more than Derek Shepard's.
Here’s an honorable mention : Adebisi death on Oz. After his death the quality of the show went down hill.
I miss Chef singing on South Park
Imo killing Carl was worse than Glen on TWD, cuz Glen was always meant to die , even if fans never wanted it to happen. Carl was never meant to die, and they killed him anyway, if Glen's death was a sign that the show was going downhill, Carl's death confirmed it
Okay, so why is Brian Griffin even on this? He literally came back to life 2 episodes later.
His death still affected the show cause after the Life Of Brian episode a lot of people stopped watching Family Guy after that
Right from the first episode, the premise of How I Met Your Mother was obviously about the titular Mother's death, and what came before. The bit that ruined it was that Ted was still hung up on Robin.
I did stop watching the walking dead after Glen was killed off and only recently started watching it again I wanna finish the TWD and Start on FTWD
Chadwick Boseman - Black panther 💀
Black Panther is a movie. Not a TV show.
@@chazarcola7639 I know ...🤷 either way still apply's the same to me
Except for the fact that his death hasn't hurt the MCU in any way whatsoever.
When Homer bent down for that hairpin, I knew _The Simpsons_ was going downhill in the aftermath of that episode.
I’m really glad Brian was brought back to life in Family Guy. He’s one of the only reasons why I still watch the show
I'm still mourning Lexi and Mark's deaths in "Grey's Anatomy"
The show completely spiraled after that season three knife to the chest
Also, Tara from True Blood. I mean the show was already starting to get bad, but her death was bullshit.
WM: *Derek and George's deaths were so tragic*
Lexie Grey: AM I A JOKE TO YOU???
There were THREE notable murders by the Saviors that should have been avenged. Glenn, Abraham and Denice. Ranked in that order, maybe. The losses might have been worth it, if we'd gotten our REVENGE. But instead, we got to see Rick become Negan's b!tch. The pussification of Rick is what ruined the Walking Dead. I won't waste my time watching a show with a poossyboy as the "hero".
The death of Lance Sweats on Bones had one good thing and one bad thing: it led to the rise of Jon Boyd, but Sweats left a baby behind
in how i met your mother. thier mom died 6 YEARS EARLIER
I missed the Bones 10th season premier and did not see Sweets die. I heard about it the next day at work. I have never seen another episode of the show. In my world Sweets is still alive and well, mediating the arguments between Booth and Brennan. Take that Hollywood.

Khal Drogo
Honorable mention: Quentin from The Magicians
Not saying there wasn't much after his death, but Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey was a hard one for me. After his death it just seemed like they were pulling anything to bring drama into the show. Like Anna getting SAed, and going to prison after the man that did it dies. That storyline was so unnecessary.
What about when they killed Carl for no real reason in The Walking Dead? But I guess that show tanked long before that, lol.
I've heard that his actor Chandler Riggs wanted to go to college, and that's why he left.
@mangagirl9132 that's not true at all. He legit went to a collage closer to where filming took place. They fired him because they didn't want to pay him as an adult.
@@calzone3843 That would make sense.
If not killing it
I don't even Blame Astor For becoming Resentful towards Dexter after Rita's Death.
I don’t think Dan Connor wasn’t actually dead in the reboot til cancel in season 1.
Killing of Roseanne changed the new reboot it wasn’t as funny
I mean, if you want to be technical, yeah Roseanne was cancelled, but in reality it was retooled into The Conners.
I got one: They replaced Valerie Harper with Sandy Duncan on The Hogan Family. I wasnt buying it.
lol Chef from Southpark was nothing to do with a stroke
He came out as a hard core nut job scientologist
I’m glad that Love Quinn was included in this list.
Lexa was my favorite 😢
I only started watching Supernatural this year just four years after it ended and I'm only in season two so thankfully I skipped that before the spoilers on how he passed although now I know he will eventually. Ugh. I was not expecting that.
