How long did you have the phone set-up before going out and shooting with it? iOS does take a day or two to optimise which eats up battery, and also takes a little while to start optimising the battery performance. Also bear in mind that this is a brand new OS too which is bound to have some bugs.
This is why I went with the 16 Pro Max this year. I take a lot of photos and video and would constantly have battery anxiety. Yes, I have an external battery but that’s another device to worry about plus waiting for the phone to charge. Jumped from the 15 Pro to the 16 Pro Max. Got about ~5-6 hours of screen on time on an average day, even less when shooting, with Always On Display and Background Refresh turned off on the 15 Pro. Now I’m getting 12+ hours of screen on time with the 16 Pro Max! Could not be happier.
I’ve had my pro max three days. I’ve changed it once. Took a tonne of videos on the first night when I changed it to 100% and as I type this it’s on 9% 🤷🏾♂️
Tom there is clearly an issue with the battery / software in the phone you have. The battery is brilliant in the 16 Pro. It would have been nice to see how the phone performed in standard 24mp modes for a lot of the pics and not RAW.
The battery is what worries me about down sizing to the smaller pro. I had the 14 pro and it was horrendous for battery life, the 15 pm was a lot better but still not ground breaking.
Mine's doing good so far. How many charge cycles have you made with your 16 Pro? Usually the phone(i.e. apps) and battery settles at the 4th charge cycle up.
Broo mine is 4 cycles too and im getting 5 hours of screen on time and its running me whole day long. Will it improve after some days ?(srry for bad grammer)
I’m getting longer battery life Taj my ultra. First couple of days is apps catching up with updates and iOS 18. I’m getting min 2 days now with my 16 pro. Check your apps etc. Only thing that beats this is my Sony Xperia
My iphone battery drains drains even without using it, when all the wifi and background app refreshes are turned off.....the battery drains itself....is it normal?
Since 18.1.1 phone was charged to 98% one Saturday afternoon 3:30pm. On Monday morning it 11:00 am it was at 21%. It may be that 18.1.1 makes a difference. I am a normal user, occasional checks on social media occasional pics and calls , 3-4 hrs screen time
I really love the video, but for a professional real estate agent, should I get an. iPhone 16 pro or wait for the s25 ultra to take real estate photography and upload real estate content on TH-cam and tiktok
Glad you like the video 🙌 thanks for watching. I’d get an iPhone personally. The cameras for photos will be similar but using Apple LOG is significantly better than Samsung video
Well i am super happy with the pro max battery, but no phone manufacturer brags about heavy camera usage and video capturing its notorious for draining the most battery. Even the pro max can be finished in 5 hrs and so does samsung s24 ultra. When i do browse apps , doom scrolling, watching videos and taking phone calls and emails the 16PM lasts for 11 + hrs. U kinda never let the camera down what do u expect a full day ?
Is going with xioami 14 ultra or vivo x100 pro better than going with the likes of a sony rx100 vii or zv1 or any compact camera? I value pocketablity factor really much, so I'm kinda overwhelmed and confused on what should be my decesion. I also do value video quality ( in a fixed room ) to shoot my music recordings. Bc of that i even also thought of considering an iPhone, but its photos are really lackluster. Also do you think iPhone paired with lenses (from moment, sandmarc, beastgrip) will potentially cause any improvements and make it comparable to xioami/vivo ( giving feel of a bigger sensor) in raw photos?
Actually battery life is pretty bad, now is performing worse than my iPhone 13 with 86% battery health. I hope they will fix this soon. I’m using the phone for about a week.
let’s say you have a 13 pro and then get 16 pro would that mean the pictures on instagram come out better with the 16 pro? Or would the differences be negligible?( I don’t use zoom & don’t mind post processing in lightroom) I’ve checked the iPhone 15 pro vs 13 pro and theirs no noticeable difference in the main sensor ; although 15 pro is 48 megapixel the 13 pro has f1.5 apeture which is better than 15 pro’s f1.8 . I only use the main sensor so pls share your thoughts I don’t want to waste money
@@sq9779 yea I think the battery, camera upgrade and what’s coming in intelligence makes it a no brainer from 13 pro. 15 pro id say not really worth, but I don’t upgrade every year I’m like 10, 13 pro, 16 pro
Always the Content I look up to... Totally agree with the Camera Button, as of now it's a Gimmick... As far as the Battery goes, just like Tom says... "seriously mid" 😁
Yah, thats a problem about battery, its really bad that its been almost 16 years that apple making phones but they did make their pro phones better in battery perfomance, pro max is good in battery but why not pro phones its literally sad, but 1 thing you are comparing i phone 16 pro to the pixel 9 pro xl or s24 ultra in the battery, please compare all the dads with the dads and bros with the bros, by the way good video very detailed and truly and camera specific, Love from pakistan
Hey Tom, I recently got the iPhone 16 Pro and updated to iOS 18.0.1. After 2 hours and 50 minutes of screen time, my battery dropped from 95% to 52%. I believe Apple claims better battery life. I noticed you also mentioned battery drain in your video-any thoughts?
Battery has been fine. Have you considered a faulty iPhone/ refund instead of being the only person to bash the battery on these? lol Or get a MagSafe battery pack if your photography is draining the battery.
I really wanted to buy pro version of the iphone 16 but can't... you buy iphone PRO for the sake of using PRO things yet you can't utilize them because battery life sucks. just like buying apple watch. it has so much amazing things even sleep tracking which you can't use because you have to charge it before sleep...
So in short, battery is not good enough for actual pro level work such as shooting pics and videos all day. I dont know why they call this phone pro series as it seems like upselling gimmick from the regular iphones.
I don't want to be conspiracy theorist but what if apple do it on purpose so people would buy bigger (and more expensive) iphones? That's not okay, far from it, for a brand new phone to last 5h SOT or even more like 3h when you're trying to keep it between 20-80%. And then after a year is even worse or you need to pay another 200€ for a battery replacement for a phone that already cost you 1200€, >:(
So yeah… I went through almost two full charges in one day in this DITL 👀😬😬 what does everyone think of the new iPhone 16?

I got the phone on launch day, which was a Friday and this was a Monday so around 3-4 days into testing

Question why do you upgrade this year when you could get a 17 next year

Yes iPhone 16 camera with camera control button drains battery so fast, turn it off under Accessibility in settings
One of the only new features 🤣🤣

I can only test what’s in front of me and the battery did perform really badly. All HEICs were 24MP in this video :) for both ultrawide and main wide
The battery is what worries me about down sizing to the smaller pro. I had the 14 pro and it was horrendous for battery life, the 15 pm was a lot better but still not ground breaking.
Dude comparing battery of the 16 Pro with the 9 Pro XL, and 24 Ultra.
Okay, i mean it was illustrative and hardly scientific 🤣
Would be great if you have a review of the Normal 16...
And also is it worth going pro, compared to the 16...
👍
I will see what I can do 🙏

Yes please need some camera setting video. Unable to dial this down completely. Especially with the photographic style and HEIF max style
It will come this week 🙏
@@ItsTomRich thank you so much. Looking forward to it
Don’t know why people change phones every year. Everything stays almost the same, and after a year the battery is still great!
iPhone 16 Pro user here. Battery ok, but if you're doing video and photography I'm noticing it's not that great at all.
Thanks for sharing as I’m getting some heat 🤣🤣 I wasn’t lying, it’s definitely underperforming for camera work
Exactly
Yes experiencing the same. Shifted from an iPhone 13 which i was using from launch day and somehow the 16 pro is performing same as the 13 😂

Agree it was intensive, but two full charges is kinda crazy lol
Never leave home without a MagSafe battery pack.
Yeah, I know the feeling.
I mean against the S24 Ultra and the Pixel XL - you're dealing with more battery capacity there, ofc it will be better.

Potentially yes

Why schlepp around such a huge/ heavy powerbank? A small thin extra battery like available on Amazon is enough.
Totally get that if you don’t travel with a bag, but as I have a camera backpack with me literally 99% of the time- these chargers are invaluable

microphone audio needs to be mono. stereo phone audio is unappealing
