Newcastle fan here. Sod the money - I'd make ASSworth sit on Garden Leave till October 2025........
He still on the payroll that will eat in to PSR and FFP
But I like your style
@@kooler8586PSR and FFP only counts player and coaching staff wages. A Director of Footballs wages may not count towards FFP.
He is earning less than Paul dummett and mark gallesipe who didn't play a professional match since 2020@@kooler8586
Dan Ashworth isn’t giving me the warm and fuzzy feeling of competence I was anticipating.
He was responsible for the Tonali mess, the only bit of recruitment he did while at Newcastle.
@@RushfanUKthat’s just bullshit lol
@@antonioprice8081He was involved in Tonali, Barnes, Hall and Livaremento. He had nothing to do with Trippier, Bruno, Burn, Gordon or Isak. So out of the first 4 (who I think are going to be canny players in the long run) you could only really say Livaremento has been a success. 30 million is a lot of money for Hall, I think Tonali is a great player but as a signing so far he's a disaster and we haven't seen enough of Barnes to know how good he's going to be. Ashworth may well be a really good operator, but he wasn't at Newcastle
Tonali was responsible for the tonali mess, simple as that @@RushfanUK
Dan Ashworth is coming across as quite the bumbling fool. He will fit in well with the rest of the clowns at Old Trafford
haha
He really is!!
Remember Man Utd fans creaming themselves thinking Dan Ashworth was going to send them back to the top. Best in class wasnt it 😅 Turns out he cant even send an email. They suit eachother as Man utd are an absolute clown show aswell 😂
Ashworth doesn’t exactly seem shrewd.
I'm a Newcastle fan and don't feel like he will be missed. Newcastle area just having fun taking the pee out of him and Man Utd.
@@jamest7539 Whilst still paying him a wage…
@@CaptainoftheCs it's not like the owners can't afford it
@@peternealon430 Yeah, but it’s not like they’re taking the piss out of him like the first comment intimated. They’re paying him to sit at home.
@Soccarena no they're not taking the pee no, but I doubt they care if he sits there till 2025 or they get their money. And I'm sure Ashworth himself doesn't want to be out of football for 18 months
Newcastle paid 5m and waited 6 months. Man U want to pay 2m and he starts immediately!
Piss take!
Yes, but they think that different rules apply to Utd
@@ianthomson6554they do, we the best 😢😢 wanna cry about it
@craiglee3653......maybe it's because Ashworth is totally incompetent, and Newcastle are demanding £20 million for him?
@thesoultwins72 Maybe your better at making prawn sandwiches than critical thinking.
Dan Ashworth certainly gets hell of a lot of credit for work at Newcastle that he had very little to do with
Some examples I've heard in recent months (Keep in mind Dan Ashworth joined in June 2022)
Sky and some pundits crediting him with signing Bruno Guimaraes - Despite him being signed 6 months before he joined
The signing of Isak - Even though Newcastle were actively scouting him already and along with Arsenal back in January 2022 had scouts attending his games for Sociedad.
Credited with unearthing Botman - Despite Newcastle having already bid for him in January 2022
Credited with signing Gordon - despite it being made clear in the recent Prime series that Eddie Howe was the driving force behind wanting him at the club and it being Amanda Staveley that negotiated the deal (on camera)
Signed Harvey Barnes - Nevermind the fact he's been injury prone during his time at the club, it omits the fact that Newcastle have had a long standing interest in Barnes going back to 2020
From what I understand the only true big deal he had been completely involved in from the start is the Tonali deal and as we know Tonali has been banned for 10 months, so it's hard to say that signing has made much of an impact yet.
Newcastle are still yet to see any major improvements to the academy either in 2 years and yet this was meant to be his area of specialism.
Man united are not making themselves look good at all
Agreed. Our best signings had little or nothing to do with Ashworth
I also see Diallo is being released from the club, signed in October 2022 barely kicked a ball for the first team... was hailed as the next big youth prospect.
Remember the Academy development was meant to be one of Ashworth's specialisms
In 2017, Liverpool were found guilty of tapping up a young player who was registered with Stoke City, which led to a £100,000 fine and a two-year ban from signing academy players from English league clubs... I'd be happy if Man United get a two-year transfer ban would be fair
Assworth's clear negligence around sending that email makes it more and more plausible that he walked into the Tonali deal without the thought of any sort of questions or background check on the player. AC Milan musta saw this guy comin from miles away and though "No way, are we really gonna get out of this sticky situation we're in?!
and they did.
well that's the thing, as I alluded to in a comment on this video, the only real notable "achievement" at the club was that he was supposedly the main person leading the Tonali deal and at the time was getting a lot of credit for the smokescreen with Barella to get the Tonali deal done "on the cheap" and with no-one else rivalling for the deal.
Now in the grand scheme of things the signs seem to point to Milan knowing the investigations were going to be following and it's no wonder they were happy to do a deal. Whether it pays off in the long-term after the ban is over but you never know but still hardly the kind of deal that puts you on the map for being a top candidate for a Director of Football
Dan Ashworth and Man United should have asked Newcastle first
Jordan didn't employ RUTHLESS tactics. He called on Bruce to honour the contract or for Birmingham to pay up. What a stupid headline.
The difference with players is the clubs receive a transfer fee, to buy them out of their contract. Hence no gardening leave. Man Utd pay whats due and the gardening leave can be ended sooner, not rocket science.
Contract is a contract, not when it just suits you
5 million fine to Ashworth and Barrada and 2 year suspension from working in football would be a fair punishment.
It wasn’t too long ago when Man Utd were trying to rinse Newcastle on a six month loan fee for the signing of Jesse Lingard..!
Fortunately Newcastle weren’t stupid enough to go ahead with that deal, let’s see if Man Utd do something similar?
All they have to do is wait eighteen months!!
which in itself was a childish reaction, supposedly stemming back to Newcastle playing hardball and not wanting to sell Longstaff for £35m
Which was ridiculous because 1. it was a different ownership when that happened, it's a bit daft to hold it against new owners and 2. Newcastle did Man Utd a favour, Longstaff has never looked like a £35m player
@@hartshapedvid
So, you’re allowed to use that comparison, but when I do it “it’s childish”..?
You’re just like every other typical Man Utd fan, hypocritical as f**k!
So, you can make similar comparisons but when I do it, “it’s childish”..?
You’re just like most other typical Man Utd fans, an absolute hypocrite!
So, you can make a similar comparison, but for me “it’s childish”..?
It seems like you’re just another typical Man Utd fan, an absolute hypocrite?!
@@G_Linka way to put 2+2 and get 5...I think you're missing my point entirely, 1. I'm not a Man Utd fan, I'm a Newcastle supporter, 2. I was agreeing with you that the whole scenario around Lingard was ridiculous, as in Man Utd were the ones being "childish" and my point was that it wasn't just the Lingard deal, it all stems back from them being knocked back on Longstaff which as I pointed out was absolutely petty because the Lingard deal was with the new owners, not Mike Ashley who knocked them back on Longstaff, also it's not like they missed out on a bargain because Longstaff has never proven to be worth that money
Another reason it was "childish" was because we had no motivation to sell Longstaff and are fully justified to not want to sell a player we own or to set any price we want, there was nothing personal in that but the people running Man Utd chose to take it personally and despite actively trying and wanting to offload Lingard they instead acting out of spite in making utterly unrealistic demands on a player that was unwanted and had little transfer value
Seems Man U front office is just as leaky as their stadium 😂😂😂
You want him, pay the money, Simples
Only a clueless owner would appoint someone a manager as mediocre as Steve Bruce…
He's led teams to promotion to the Premier League a record 4 times - some owners know what they are doing!
@@RichClark-hd4xc When did he do that Rich ? I think he led Birmingham to runner-up (automatic promotion in 2006/7) and did the same for Hull 2012 /13. Reached the play-offs a couple of times but I can't see he was promoted to PL other than the two mentioned. He was known in his early managerial career for being sacked or (more usually) jumping ship - 5 clubs in around 3 years. He was a very solid, loyal and popular player but didn't transfer these attributes to management, at least at the beginning. Don't often agree with Simon Jordan, but have to say he is right that contracts should go two ways when it comes to release and compensation.
@@johnnyonenote376 2001/2 Birmingham, 2006/7 Birmingham, 2012/13 Hull, 2015/16 Hull. 4 times promoted. Absolutely SJ is correct, just the 'clueless owner' comment responded to

Jim Ratcliffe is definitely not talking sense Jim!!!! You're both talking total rubbish.
guy seems incompetent, seems perfect for Man Utd.
Man united were a big club now they are making themselves look like fools
My son was put on gardening leave a few years ago & he worked in a call centre he was going to another in same industry
A friend was put on gardening leave for a similar reason it happens all the time in industry Mr Radcliff should know this
Newcastle had to pay Brighton & also wait several months for Mr Ashworth so I am afraid Manchester red will have to pay up & wait same as they have with Manchester City simple as that
Just because you think you are superior you are not
Gardening leave is quite comment on most industries when you are quite senior. I had it when I was looking to leave and it was six months.
Sir Jordanite = Top LAD Proper Clobber 💯 Facts
Dan Ashworth has had more transfers in 2 years than most players have in an entire career 😂
The hypocrisy of SJs stance on Ashworth by saying ‘deal with it your pinching someone else’s staff’ but openly admitting he tapped managers up at the beginning of this section. 😂
Simon will never let this go haha
Sounds like the circus has found a new ring leader 🎪🤡
I think ashworth likes a few quid for nothing too
It's garden leave. Not gardening leave. They aren't flung out to trim hedges.
Err nope.its either
I wonder how long Ashworths gardening leave clause will be in his Man Utd contract?
Weird title for a discussion about Man U making illegal approaches with a staff member who legally wasn’t allowed to make. Brushing it under the rug, are we?
Funny how Simon talks about tapping up being the done thing in football and he has done it himself... Yet still feels betrayed by Bruce almost 25 years later when Blues did the same to him.
Love Simon!
The title of this upload is shameful tbh this is about Dan ashworth signing a contract he shouldn’t have and United thinking they are above the rules
I remember this with Bruce . Good work Simon 😂
'No you can't....But I can....But you can't...' Simon in full flow is a thing to behold.
Newcastle signing that donkey Ashworth sounds like a lovely bit of business for them. Fair play.
That was awesome
The NFL works completely different: it’s completely transparent when coaches are going for other jobs and probably works better as a result.
They have exactly the same rules in regard to tampering with players and coaches under contract. Permission must be sought.
If I was Ashworth I would sign the following players ASAP : Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate, Trent, Tsimikas, Endo, Szobo, Jones, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo, Hendo, and Milner.
Newcastle fan, I actually hope Man Utd remove their interest in this clown and we make him fulfil his contract until next year and he falls into insignificance.
great watching Jim laughing throughout this!
I just noticed Simon’s glasses kept slipping every minute or so. I thought only I have glasses which slip down my nose 😂
Just because it's gone on for "time imomoriam" doesn't mean its right. You can't derive an ought from an is 🤷
david hume is rolling in his grave
Wouldn’t speaking to another club be acting against the clubs interests and by extent be considered ground for gross misconduct and summarily dismissal? Thus no compensation.
It’s all games within games.
tapping up has always been ridiculous, people talk...fancy coming to our team...yeah maybe or nah im good
I’m with Simon
Following on from the total mess he made by signing Tonali for Newcastle, Ashworth sounds like a complete and utter buffoon! I honestly don't know how these people become so highly regarded, spoken of with the reverence of deity and command absolute shed loads of money.
Ah I love Simon! All I have now is an image of Steve Bruce mowing Simon’s garden while he sits in his robe on his deck😂 and the mower is a manual push one😂
Jim’s little gasp of shock made me laugh
If I was a Man Utd fan I’d be worried having someone this incompetent
So everyone else gets slaughtered by Jordan for breaking rules but he breaks the rules when he doesn’t like the rule, ffs.
Jim is just a joy to watch
I don't think we will miss Dan Ashworth, we signed Isak, Bruno and Botman before Ashworth and they provide the spine that our first eleven should be built around.
Ashworth over saw the signing of Tonali - it looks like we spent the best part of £60M on a player without any due diligence, and our other signings this season like Barnes and Liveramento have had injury issues (we paid a lot for Barnes and Liveramento despite knowing Liveramento had previously been injured all of last season.)
signed Isak and Botman after Ashworth, however Newcastle were already lining them up as targets before Ashworth joined. Isak had Newcastle scouts watching him back in January 2022 and Newcastle had a bid rejected for Botman during the same period. Barnes is one Newcastle have been trying to get before the takeover so I highly suspect the existing scouts had lined the case for that particular deal beforehand. One of the best signings, Gordon, was also an Eddie Howe identified player.
A lot of people missed the fact that while Newcastle were waiting for a director of football to be appointed we had a January window in which Eddie also had to take on responsibilities of heading up recruitment and also during the period Ashworth was on gardening leave, Eddie and the recruitment team were drawing up a list of players for the summer of 2022
First time l have agreed with Simon Jordan.
9:06 : “pay it” “pay it”“pay it”“pay it”“pay it”. 😅
SJ at his best here 😂
Comedy gold again from Simon
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The funniest thing about this is Simon Jordan fighting so hard to keep Steve Bruce Steve bloody Bruce is not Pep guardiola 😂😂
Well said Simon
I just watched the first 90 seconds and I agree with Simon, I think 'fining' players is a totally preposterous, probably illegal and out dated idea. Who else would tolerate such nonsense from their employer? Absolutely no-one would and I've thought that for a very long time. Who the hell do these football clubs and managers' think they are. If a player took them to court and they had to refund all the fines they've imposed over the years' it could be a very large sum of money.
simon the man
lol
We all know football is totally corrupt
Its laughable like he said that tapping is a thing they pretend does not happen
I stopped watching arsenal in 2002, and it was a total joke that back in 1990s george graham was sacked for taking a bung for jensen joining arsenal, when all teams would of been doing it.
A contract is a contract, some people are just greedy.
Tapping up is just another name for compensation or transfer fee
Spot on Simon..
Ok so other people break the rules and Simon says rules are rules
So Simon 'the rules apply to everyone' Jordan is quite happy to break those rules he doesn't approve of?
Maybe it was in the past, tapping up players is no longer a thing in football. It's only on the books, but every club ignores it, with no exemption, from small to the biggest. When you ever heard a club complaining about it? Years ago.
if u turn up late u wont be paid for the time u wasnt there ...cmon simon wise up
This is a classic case of players and staff ensuring they proper legal advice before signing contracts.
It works both ways. The gardening leave is in there to protect Newcastle from Ashworth breaking the contract....which is exactly what he tried to do. No club is going to offer a contract without that kind of protection. Ashworth only signed it 18 months ago it shows what an unloyal bloke he is
It's sad how people are seen as nothing but property by the likes of Simon Jordan
It's people who think like Simon that are ruining the sport. Football is a sport, not only a business
Amazing the way Simon can conflate tapping up as ridiculous and not applying to any other industry, yet he's incapable of seeing the ridiculous side of FFP.
Ashworth has a nice garden dont knock him.
Well done Assworth
9:23 Jordan's best moment ever
Took long enough but Brum got its justs...
Sullivan is at west ham you dope
😂😂😂😂😂😂I didn’t even know that could happen
You have to love the premier league
Simon says the tapping up rule is stupid. Then proceded to promote the legality of a contract.
You’re conflating two separate things.
He’s saying that speaking to people (players or staff) at other clubs shouldn’t be against rules because it’s not in any other industry
But what he’s saying in regards to Dan Ashworth is more that he agreed to a contract that had a period of gardening leave should he wish to leave unless Newcastle are compensated for his services… which has nothing to do with the right to speak to anyone, it’s about signing a legally binding contract that you agreed terms with
Regarding Si Jordan and Rod Stewart war of words, I am not a fan of Stewart but before Sky came into football both Rangers and Celtic could match EPL clubs financially and outnumbered their supporters, in other words Rupert Murdoch and Sky TV put Scottish Premier league on the bottom tier and English football at the top tier with the outrageous money he throws at the English FA, it's disgusting that ELP was getting £1B while all 42 Scottish clubs recieve a poxy £25.7m per season which isn't even a crumb compared to English football.
Scottish football is shite go back to the days before the prem and bar a few teams it was shite
Simon Jordon may, to some may be contreversial? BUT, I love the guy. In addition I wish him good health and likewise to you also Mr White. Love your shows and I love this video. Again Mr Jordan is classic.
lol simon slags city off for cheating daily but its ok for him to "bend the rules"
Bit of difference in talking to a manager without permission and having 115 charges thrown at you
Does Simon ever lose an argument
Thats why he hates birmingham
Simon you should be primeminister
Repeated clips from Talksport

The problem with any contract that puts you on gardening leave is that the leave cannot be excessive (however you choose to define excessive). If Ashworth or Man U can argue that a year is excessive and I would guess they have a case the clause can be struck out. I suspect that is what Ashworth will argue at a tribunal.
