- Paul used his Epiphone Casino and Martin 12-String. Denny Laine used his 1970's Fender Thinline Telecaster and an unknown acoustic. The entire song and album were recorded by just Paul, Denny and Linda in Lagos, Nigeria 1973. Their drummer and lead guitarist quit the band the night before they flew to Africa. They came back to London months later to finish the album at George Martin's AIR Studios

Mine is at 2:16 when the acoustic guitar first comes in. When I first heard that part it reminded me of how a Beatles' tune would have sounded if they had stayed together.

Gibson B-25-12, from the 60's, sounds woody and very much like the Beatles Framus 12.
@@Johngonefishin - I had one of those Gibson B-25 12-strings. Odd that the neck joined the body at the 12th fret. I traded it for a Gibson MK-72 - another really odd guitar.

@@TheDarkCow11 yeah! I’ve used it on some of my own songs, as well as my recent cover of happiness is a warm gun (combined with my Strymon deco pedal). I also use the REDD desk and abbey road plate/chamber reverb plugins on my stuff

Great work there. Note: on :30 , on the lead part, instead of double stop on the 12 fret on the B&E strings, try 11 on B and 12 on the E before going to double stop on the 15th fret on B&E strings. Try and hear for yourself. That's how Jimmy does it live on their 1976 Tours. It sounds better. I'm sure it's on their studio recording of this song. Again, great work.

It's the perfect cover, only thing i could say so it could have been even more spot is on the acoustic section there are some moments where there is a slight stop of playing when Paul sings the "Band on the run" for the second time in a chorus, that is what i've noticed thanks to the stems from Guitar Hero World Tour. Sorry if i'm incorrect, your covers are the best on the entire TH-cam! greetings mate
McCARTNEY's solo stuff was always so much simpler than THE BEATLES. i'd say compared to alot of their contemporaries THE BEATS did quite well on their own. not every solo album was great but alot of their solo stuff was awesome. when they called it quits they were done personally they were not done musically they easily still had several great albums in them and if JOHN and GEORGE were not so adverse to touring i think they potentially could've gone on to be an amazing 70's arena rock band. imagine the 'concert fer bangla desh' performance mixed with MccARTNEY's 'rock show''. how monumental that would be.
and i know a geek like you could easily imagine that. btw, did you investigate what gits were used and when it was PAUL or DENNY playing what? did PAUL use the casino and the esquire that he also used in THE BEATS?

and since you're so accurate, I'd like to add just a little, if you don't mind: at the intro, when they go to Gm instead of G (0:29), the lead guitar riff plays the B flat, at the 11th fret of the B string. the high E string is played at the 12th fret as usual.

Throughout the Band on the Run album, did Paul play drums and overdub his guitars onto the basic track, or was it vice versa?
Paul played drums on whole album. They finished a lot of tracks and did overdubbing in Lagos. But they did some songs like Jet in their entirety back in London. A lot of London sessions were overdubbing orchestra
