I hit 150,000km a few days ago, I am FBO Stage 2 for about the last 30,000km. It has been extremely reliable, it had a few things done to it via preventative maintance wise but these cars are solid.
As the owner of one of these cars, I must concur....it's a fantastic daily driver. Mine is optioned out with the XDrive, adaptive suspension, MPerformance brakes and MPPSK which really nudges it into proper sports car territory. This set up has the car running the 1/4-mile in the 12.8's....which is pretty impressive considering how heavy the car is. And despite this, it still gets fantastic fuel economy. I chose the Grand Coupe for the added rear doors and additional storage space and I was not disappointed. Being able to open the rear doors and just toss in my gym bag or groceries is seriously convenient. And the the rear hatch area is MASSIVE. And unless you tell people its a hatch back, most don't even notice. This might be the best car, I've ever owned.
Haha, I was just shocked! I had the traction off, full throttle... I fully expected the car to get a little squirrelly. I guess the long wheelbase really helps here. Thanks man! We're just getting started, going from strength to strength!
I have a 2021 440i in Snapper Rocks Blue and it’s incredible. Gives me everything I need in a car; looks, practicality and speed. Just done a 1,500 mile journey to Ireland and back and it ate up the miles.
Thank you mate! Made my day :) It's really tough to get cars to review - at the moment it's just friends that trust me throwing me the keys to their cars. Maybe one day I could have a relationship with a dealer or something. I love making them.
10:04 about the transmission: To get rid of ALL negatives/downsides/imperfections you gotta use XHP Stage 2. This will absolutely transform your transmission. Even the short delay you mention will be gone. The shifts will happen almost instantly. Just flashing the transmission makes this car feel unreal.
Loving the videos, hope to see more reviews on here as you grow. Currently have a '14 F30 330d Xdrive - very similar to this but 3.0 diesel instead ( tuned to 240kw/680Nm 😎🫣) Lovely cars!
Got a 1993 Mazda RX7 with a safe single turbo build, paints tatty (getting done over winter) if you ever wanna try something a bit old and crap haha up in Newcastle!
I'm seriously contemplating replacing my E70 X5 40d with this when the time comes. Right now, I need all the space with a toddler and active lifestyle, but the wife has suggested that our next salary sacrice car will be a bigger EV for the local stuff. Granted, I wanted to go and get a sports car like a GT86 or M240i, however, being that bit older, I can't help but enjoy the GT mannerisms of this car. I've always had a soft spot for my W204 220d estate that I reluctantly had to get rid of for the X5. The X5, for its size is a wonderful family car, but I just don't enjoy the driving dynamics of a big SUV. Have you driven an F15/E70 to be able to compare it to this for driving dynamics. Definitely looking for a cross country cruiser with the option to take a tow bar for the bike carriers.
Very different cars! Megane feels like a sports car, always ready to go and eager... You show it a corner, you think you're going pretty fast and it's like ''is that it? come on, driver harder'' 440i is a more grown up car, more comfortable, better long distance. When you show it a corner it's like a retired athlete. The skills are still there but it's a little lazy, a little soft. Great noise and power in a straight line though. Everyday wise they're pretty similar, 440i has bigger rear seats but the Meg is better at being a van because it's a hatchback. Similar mpg. I could have bought any car in the world under £30k and I bought the Megane... so I guess that answers that :)
@@MickDrivesCars thank you for such a quick reply! Could you do a video on what made you choose Megane over other hot hatches like S3 Golf R M140i Leon Cupra Focus RS etc etc? I have a 440i and I love it but never had a hot hatch. Feel too old to be driving a hot hatch so a grown up car for me 😅
Interesting idea for the ''Megane RS vs. all other hot hatches'' video. I'll add it to the list, maybe I'll make it! Sounds like you've got the right car for your circumstance :)
Yo, a new 440i F3x review? Nice :) I absolutely love this car! Especially M-Package for optics and MPPSK for fun! The 4cyl versions(420/428/430) are also great BUT the price difference is small enough to say that it is not worth it "downgrading"(at least get a 435i) to the 4cyl versions unless you city drive 90+% or it's a hand me down/gift/bought cheap from a friend
Hey Mick, I have a video request. I noticed modded cars seems to run thicker tires, can you explain the difference between low profile tires vs thicker tires. I use 275/35/19 on My B9 S4 but I’m wondering if 255 for example will allow me better traction please explain
@@MickDrivesCars Sorry for the confusion, thicker in terms of wall please, low profile looks sexy but as I stated, I have noticed high HP cars using thicker in terms of side walls wondering if there is a specific reason y. Thanks a bunch
Guys!!! I need every single persons help here whom owns a 440i or b58. Im looking to jump into a gran coupe 440 between years 2017-2019. The miles range on some ive found from 40kxmiles to 90k miles. Say id go wit one thats got 80k miles but its the spec i really want. How reliable is it and how is it working on it yourself both for maintenance and for mods. Ik im asking a lot in a yt comment section but im super excited that i could afford this in the next 5-7 months and i just wanna plan ahead. Thank you guys

Everyone I talk to about b58 cars says the same. Seriously good engines.
What kind of preventative maintenance did you do?
Hell yeah thanks for this comment I got worried looking at 60k mile ones

Really is a great all-rounder. Especially fantastic on the motorway.

Very cool. I've just dropped the owner a line about this
BMW cars are powerhouses, love them 🥵
Agreed! Every one I've driven has been fantastic fun

Yep they are literally my favourite videos to make - just tough to get cars to review
@@MickDrivesCars I would offer mine but am roughly 1 earth away from you being in New Zealand…
I own a 2016 430i coupe. Love it!
I like your style of reviewing the car!
my dream car maaan
It's a seriously good bit of kit
Your video convinced me to pick up a 440i gc last month. The B58 platform has been a way better daily than my old n54.
Glad to hear it!
It really is a good car - maybe not for driving 10/10 hard but perfect at 5/10-6/10
Great review, Mike! Greetings from the USA. Hope you are doing well, sir. Much respect.
love watching these videos, i feel like id have the same reaction driving it lol
Thank you mate! I love making them :)
Pick up mine tomorrow❤

I have literally spend 100s of hours in assetto corsa driving an RX7 around the nurburgring - it's a dream car of mine. Where and when, let's go!
Drive a 430d. Almost as quick and averages mid 40s mpg! Perfect daily

my mate had a 440i now he's got a 240i...You should try one of those, same qualities, but more like a go cart!!
Stay tuned mate, there's a chance I might have a lovely 240i on the channel in the next few weeks :)
I'm going to go the other way, need a bigger boot. You get used to the steering... eventually....
