In England we rarely have much controversy over bathrooms as most stores have female, male, and gender neutral bathrooms (these come as large, singular cubicles and usually have a disabled/baby changing facilities inside too) so it confuses me on how much fuss this is causing. Rick M -- If someone has a medical condition and an emergency, the laws are (or should be) allowed for times. Before I transitioned 10 years ago, I checked around about this very issue. I asked if I had a medical emergency needing a bathroom, could my CIS roommate/assistant come into an opposite-gendered bathroom with me. I was told that such was permitted, and if I was alone and needed to use the opposite gender bathroom, such was allowed in an emergency. And I mean anywhere, not just Target. Sometimes things like this happen. If anyone yells about it, tell them to fuck off and go talk to your doctor. I carry my medical info with me just in case--and also if I can't speak, for the cops or medical help.
