@@MarlenaStell thank you! I still have a good bit of the former formula and will most likely purchase Mario in the future. What a shame the formula was changed. It works with every skin type and age
I’m 63 and have used the Givenchy prism libre FOR YEARS ! And I hate the new formula. Hate it. I’m really angry about this. They are gearing towards the younger peeps. The colors etc … shimmery powders. Etc
By the grace of god and the stars lining up just right I ordered new Givenchy powder the week before they switched over 😅. Needless to say, I hardly use it. I used to dig right in with a brush. Now, with my new powder, I use the small puff it came with 😂 and still only use it on special occasions

I have always bought high end makeup. TH-cam has made me try so many drugstore makeup and inevitably it ends up in the trash. You are so right about foundations. I have never found a drugstore match for my light olive skin tone. The color options and packaging are unmatched with high end makeup! My philosophy is to save up and spend wisely, you get what you pay for!
@nancypaap2897 i buy high end & drugstore makeup & have had the opposite experience. While the drugstore has some duds, high end certainly does as well. My pov is its frustrating to buy something expensive & then it not perform better than something from Milani. Its much easier to accept that a $10 blush fades after an hour than a $57 blush that fades just as fast. I really have been doing research watching videos, trying something out in store, talking to friends etc about products because I'm tired of wasting my money because im not happy with a purchase. The drugstore has amazed me so many times over really great products. I will never stop shopping there for my makeup purchases.
Marlena! SO GOOD! however... What I am dying to see is a video on application and even more so *CHOOSING* the right colors of these. I believe you that these are worth every penny, but not if you dont get the exact right shade! Please please take these worth it products and help us now how to narrow and choose with no regrets ❤
I absolutely agree about several of your recommendations. For blush at the drug store, I've fallen in love with the new NYX Butter Blushes. They are pigmented, melt into the skin and have a ton of colors.
Marlena MUG eyeshadows and blushes were and will always be my favorite ❤ I still use them and I even have few back up ps from my all time favs originally packed 😅 I’m so sad we lost MUG your quality was outstanding
Me too. I have the original pink mini and I mix it with the By Thierry Hydra powder to make it last lol. I really can’t see myself buying the new formulation with all that shine to put under my eyes. No
Marlena, I have brown skin and I have always been very self-conscious regarding my dark elbows - a couple of videos back you suggested “The Ordinary” glycolic acid exfoliating toner and I bought it. When I tell, you just in the month I have been using it - I have noted a 100% change in the texture and the color of my elbow area! They are no longer black but getting closer to my natural skin color every day! The change in color is substantially lighter. Thank you so much for the suggestion and thank you so much for always thinking about your deeper skin tone sisters, in addition to your porcelain, fair and medium sisters! Between this and the Elemis bend referral, you have fully elevated my skin texture and tone!
Yay this makes me so happy!!! I’m so glad it worked! Ok so after using the glycolic acid I also put on a little coconut oil to soften the skin cause my elbows are super rough too. So glad it worked!!!
Thanks God I’m not the only one who doesn’t like rare beauty blushes. My favourite blush no one is talking about is ND cream blush from her glam face palette (fair). The BEST blush I have EVER tried. I may buy the whole face palette again only for the blush.
I don’t like them either! I left a comment about how much I despise them, the Elf ones, and the Juvia’s Place ones. There is no need for that much pigment in a blush.
@@trishamarieI think that much pigment is meant for anyone with a darker skin tone that isn’t fair. It is made by a woman who doesn’t have a fair skin.

Totally agree with u on the rare beauty blushes - and I keep trying it because all anyone says is how great it is. It’s just a no for me and now that u have said it I am glad I’m not the only one lol❤
Givenchy changed their formula on the powder. It used to be Nikki's favorite. She's been using the new one from makeup by Mario and highly recommends it. Almost getting low on my powder, msomi might buy during the sephora sale.
Thank you Marlena for being so honest, I follow you back from 2008, and I Love your videos and you as person, I hope I get to meet you one day ❤ wish you the best 😘✨ PS: I have large pore textured combo skin, would you please make a matte makeup and skincare routine video (late 30s😊😊)
I’m in TOTAL agreement. The base is paramount. And unfortunately using products past their expiration date is a bad idea not only for health but for aesthetics. Maybelline Urbanwear? The one with SPF was just fine when I first bought it but when I use it now it cakes and turns color-to something like bile. I bought that one and No7 foundation with SPF50. They were in a lighter color and the other a darker color. I live in Galveston, TX so am exposed to the sun a lot. The worst part is I already owned Origins SPF20 foundation and it was my favorite out of all I tried. Left my skin prettier when I washed it off than at the start of the day. But I felt I needed to “save” it for when my makeup needed to last longer so I bought the drugstore versions. I had already tried a L’Oréal one with high SPF and used that up. I always felt like I needed a Benadryl after that one so I didn’t repurchase. My point I’m trying to make is there are lots of good foundations. When you find one you like (similar to lipstick ladies!) stick with it. Don’t save it. Don’t keep buying more. Just use that shit!!!!
Your video went into save AND watch later after I watched it intently. ❤. For years, I have benefited from your content and this particular video is one of your finest. The market is over saturated, and I have nearly zero joy to stroll the isles.
I would love a video on bronzer and contour for people with light skin and a lot of red overtones. My face doesn't look red but when I put foundation on, you can tell that there is redness. A lot of bronzers have too much red in them that make me look funny (and not the good sunburnt color). The Urban Decay foundation is one of my ride or die foundations. I am 51 and very, very oily skinned. It doesn't age me but stays so well and looks smooth and yummy. The Merit blushes don't work for my oily skin but the Tower 28 rocks and so do the Valentino blushes. I also love the One/Size powder and Huda Beauty powder. I'm going to try the Fenti powder foundation now, too!
I 100% agree, the older I get the better the quality of the products I need. I also did not like the blush is too pigmented and I haven’t been able to use it 😢
Thanks Marlena! I agree that foundation is the number 1 investment a woman should have if she's into make-up, esp the ones that you buy in the department store, Sephora or Ulta. Love this video. ❤
Marlena, OMG Thank you for the Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream tip, I used La Mer years ago before they went crazy with their pricing and most recently have been using Omorovicza - no more! The Seaweed cream is great and affordable, granted the fancy fresh fragrance of the Omorovicza is absent - but I'm not paying 200 to 400 for a scent and a glass jar. Plus their diamond range has crappy chrome colored tops that flake everywhere and really downgrade the experience. I am now a regular watcher!!! Thank you again, I would never have tried a cream in that price range w/o your recommendation!!! Knowledge is Power!!!
100% agree about the Victoria Beckham bronzer! I've gotten rid of all bronzers and just use VB. Also works great as a quick eye shadow, use the light shade on eyelid and bronzer in crease.
I admire everything about you Marlena. Your dedication to this art, to life in general, all if it. Thank you for the Anisa brushes code which just saved me some bucks. Happy Sunday to you and yours 🎉
I swear by the SHEGLAM liquid blushes. $6 or $7 on amazon. Blend out like a dream. "LoveCake" gives me a sun kissed look. They come in regular and also with a sheen. I use the regular and their liquid hi lighters are great too. "Vanilla" is my jam!
I love the look you're wearing! Can you do a video recreating this pinky reddish look?? Thank you for this! I've been watching you for YEARS. LOVE your content!! ❤❤
I have been stalking your videos for two weeks and trying to up my game. I don’t like any of the cheaper versions as well as the high end, so I appreciate this video. I love your honesty! Today I bought the Rephyr brush, and I can’t wait to try it. I don’t feel comfortable with most eye brushes, as they seem too big and fluffy, or too stiff- im hopeful here. I didn’t wear eyeshadow for decades, because I didn’t want to look over done, but now I decide to toss my give a damn, and play. I have the O/S powder, Natasha concealer, Anissa brush, Dermablend foundation (I have this one pesky blue vein in my cheek) and a few others that you recommend. You have not ever let me down. The Mario bronzer is next. Thank you for all the great advice!
Hey Marlena! I absolutely love your teaching/educating style. You’re honest. You have an ‘easy to listen to’ voice. You make it easy for everyone to understand the point you’re speaking about without ever being condescending. You and Nikki are my top go to MUAs on TH-cam (but I also enjoy the rest of your girl crew)!!! The only thing I differ with you on in this video is the setting powders. For my mature (60), very dry skin, the O/S and Huda just didn’t work for me. I’ve just bought the Makeup By Mario powder but haven’t tried it yet. Maybe it was user error? I used a setting spray…🤷♀️ Any suggestions? I’m head over heels for Westman Atelier products and own most of them. I’m going to pick up a few of your recommendations during the Sephora sale! I have a few BK Beauty brushes, Angie’s set and Nikki’s set. I really want to try the Anisa foundation brush you love so much. I may have to pick up the Refr eye brushes! Maybe some of them will have special Holiday Sets and prices.😊 Thanks for this video!💖
I agree with you here on all, Lovely Lady, I use Nars sheer glow foundation, and mac studio fix, love them, I don't wear a lot all the time, but do like it when I go out, also I stopped buying nars under eye, the formula changed, got dried out quickly, I'm going back to bobbi brown, for concealers, TY for this great video!
I was gonna look at the Valentino blushes but i recalled the price point and was like nah. Drug store always broke me out. I stay far away unless it lip liners. I might just have to check it out! I just got an 18 set of Rephr! Im so stoked. I NEEDED it. I always heard and saw ppl using his brushes but it didnt click in my head. I used affordable ones and most eye brushes dont work well for Asians. Rephr is the solution for my hooded eyes! Im glad i spent the $ now i have something specifically made for ppl like me. About dang time!
Hi Beautiful! I adore a red lip on you! This is a great review of each category of 'must try' higher end cosmetics, Marlena! Still trying to find the right foundation for me, however. Wishing you a fabulous weekend; love, and hugs, Sweetie, Sherrey🩷🍁🩷
Hi Marlena!! Thank you so much for this video. Can you review Number 7 concealers or foundation? They are made in France.. unbelievable formula for mature skin
I really enjoy your channel. Thanks, Marlene! I have been using dermablend cream to cover my dark circles for decades. I'm 70 and I started using dermablend probably in my 30s. Great stuff. I've never tried the liquid foundation but that might be fun
Same here guys! It’s really the only foundation I use regularly …periodically I’ll try a different one but always quickly return to Estée Lauder doublewear. I’ve been using it for 30 years and it doesn’t appear to be making me look older and when I try something for mature skin… this ironically ends up amplifying my texture & fine lines-making me look aged. I never see it on sale though 🤔 I’m glad they never discontinued it…with different techniques u can apply it to achieve light to full coverage, it has wonderful staying power and looks the best on my skin even at 53.
Yes, yes, yes to the Tower 28 blushes! I wear them with foundation and on bare skin (mature, dry, pronounced pores) with great results. Also enjoy the Haus Labs glossy blush stick for a sheer, glowier look. For powder, Singe Beauty's Evocative Silk blushes are my new favourites. They give a lovely glow without noticeable shimmer. The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch, whooo, she pigmented! Huge learning curve and requires a lot of restraint, IMO. And no one ever needs a full size.
I love, love, love the Rocky Horror poster behind you. Thank you for teaching us soon much about makeup and how to use it. You're truly one of the industries greatest.
I see the title and click instantly for the comment section! Love reading people's favorite products. My two favorite blushes of all time are Daniel Sandler watercolour blush and the old illamasqua powder blushes. They are so smooth and just like skin. As for foundations I use daily the shisheido bb sport after lisa eldridge recommended it few years ago and suited my skin and for special occasions I rotate between mac face and body and Paris Berlin le fluide and le correcteur, depending my look.
I'd love to see your routine for using that Dermablend foundation. I bought it, then returned it since it just didn't work for me. Maybe I didn't use it correctly though considering your purchase of multiples!!
I like Estee Lauder and Christian Dior Forever Matte foundations. Good for mature skin. Recently got a sample of the new Huda Beauty foundation and liked that one too.
Lol i an 100% with you about the rare beauty blush i bought 1 when they first launched them and i never touched it again lol i love her and her brand but not the blushes! I totally agree with everything you said un this video! ❤
Loved this video and miss MUG brushes and eye shadows!!! The GOAT! I love rare beauty blushes because I am medium-Medium tan w/freckles and sweat a lot on my face. These blushes are great for long wear and deeper skin tone. Also, a little goes along away. I use a little and like to build them up or use them as a base and top with a power blush. In general I find influences out too much make up on ( I understand for filming etc) but just had to say it.
Omg thank you for saying the truth of the Rare Beauty liquid blush being too pigmented. I tried it and immediately removed it cause I looked like a clown. It’s great for blush blindness 😅😅
Thank you for segment on brushes! As an artist, it's impossible to get media to canvas correctly if you skimp on the brushes. It makes perfect sense to invest in quality brushes for your face! 💛
I need cream foundation for my mature skin. It looks best with my pores and wrinkles. I’m over 63 and most liquids look good one day but not every day. I know it’s hard for you to speak to 63 year old skin with lots of wrinkles and pores
@@nancymccormick7567 I have 2 cream foundations that I LOVE: Fenty Eaze Blur which is light to medium coverage. And Dior Forever stick foundation- full coverage so you have to use little and blend out 🩷
Hi Marlena , this is such a great video. I loved your recommendations. I want to know if you have tried or tested the Sweed Beauty Glass Skin foundation and what do you think? 💖
Givenchy Prisme Shade 4 and Sarah Creal undereye concealer (though shade range not the best with SC makeup) are my new holy grailS for dry skin. I love the shine and light reflection that the Prisme gives, I do not like matte so their recent reformulation works for me. These products are worth the money, especially during the Sephora sale.
I think everyone here shares this same sentiment with me. I have watched you from day 1, and 👏YOU 👏HAVE👏NOT 👏AGED👏ONE 👏DAY! But more importantly, you have remained so true to yourself, your brand, your followers, your friends and people you thought were friends. Many people in this industry allow the notoriety, the new income, or the following, to change them. Then they find themselves backpedaling to try and salvage the image and respect that they broke or in some cases lost altogether. Your personality, your morals, values and business ethic has remained solid, and that has not gone unnoticed, unappreciated and unloved. Thank you for being YOU, the most perfect Makeup Geek and person!
Still loving my MUG in Sunkissed for bronzing and Moon Phase, Rekindle, Nightlight, and Sunlight MUG highlighters. I’m going to be so sad when I finish them. 💚
The Valentino blushes…I have 5 of them. They are perfect. Also, I know you didn’t mention them but the ABH stick blushes are beautiful and long lasting (underrated). Thanks for the reminder about the Urban Decay foundation.
I have to agree on foundation. I just got Fenty Soft Lit Luminous and finally don’t have to add blue eyeshadow to offset the gold that is a requisite the gold that is always in the formulas. I am a pale olive, and had to mix all the time. Every day was the normal and it’s tedious.
Thank you for such a great video. I bought the Anisa brush set and they are really great quality. I thought you were going to add eyeshadow to the list, I have bought a lot of drugstore eyeshadow but I always go back to my limited edition NARS shadow palette 😂

Great review Marlena. Thanks! Love the honesty.
Agree with you on the Rare Beauty blush. I really love the Saie blushes for all the reason you mentioned.
@@loeschzone6876 I love that one! So beautiful
My favorite brushes are the make up geek 😢. I bought 4 before the site was closed and IM OBSESSED!!!!!! I hope one day you bring them back.
Ok you finally convinced me to buy a set of Rephr eye brushes. I got 4 of the essentials. Thx Marlena❤
I get Estée Lauder double wear on sale. Worth every penny for me.
Yep. I go away from it but always end up back there!!
Great video! Thank you!!!
@@pamelastanford1604 thank you for this sweet comment! This made my day so THANK YOU 🥹🩷🩷🩷
I see the title and click instantly for the comment section!
My Valentino blush is my go to! I take it when I travel!!! Love it!
Her review is honest . I have used some of the products ❤
Thank u Marlena!!! can u do a video for olive skin( I have light olive) what are the best foundation and other makeup etc… 😁
I'd love to see your routine for using that Dermablend foundation. I bought it, then returned it since it just didn't work for me. Maybe I didn't use it correctly though considering your purchase of multiples!!
Did not work for me either. It was not long lasting and as soon as I blew my nose, it all came off.
I need this about skincare for mature skin! I know we all are different, but some serums etc can be used by multiple skin types. 😊
I like Estee Lauder and Christian Dior Forever Matte foundations. Good for mature skin. Recently got a sample of the new Huda Beauty foundation and liked that one too.
Love you Marlena! Always enjoy your videos ❤
Finally one option to consider on rare blushes❤, I do agree. Wished for a more sheer formula, less product..which is the mini now. Not my fave, too.😮
Thanks for your suggestions and opinions Marlena!
Agree 100% on those Selena blushes. I got so frustrated I tossed it. Life is too short to try to work with that unblendable liquid.
Lol i an 100% with you about the rare beauty blush i bought 1 when they first launched them and i never touched it again lol i love her and her brand but not the blushes! I totally agree with everything you said un this video! ❤
Maybelline, Urbandecay, NYx, Lancome,,Valentino. are same as Loreal, and owned by Loreal. Same maker same manufacturer! ☺️
Good point
What is that amazing color on your lips! You are so stunningly pretty and the color looks amazing on you!
Sephora liquid lip 1
Totally agree with you on the foundations. Love your videos ❤
Just started this video but wow what eye shadow are you wearing?? It’s gorgeous!! 😍😍
They completely changed the formula on the Givenchy powder 😢 now it’s super glowy like a freaking highlighter on my skin now 😭😭😭
Yes she is talking about the new one. I’m surprised that she likes it because everyone else hates it lol
She said this is an old video . And that she used hers and she don’t like the formula now from the powders
And Dior Forever stick foundation- full coverage so you have to use little and blend out 🩷
Seint makeup is wonderful for mature skin!!
@ yes!! I have the foundation and the Demi 😊 I love it. It’s no longer an MLM so maybe people will stop hating on it lol
I find I have inconsistency with wear when wearing anything with alcohol. The second day is awful.
Try Lancôme stick foundation! It’s excellent and blurring, easy to apply with a brush or even your fingers. Good color matches too.
I have watched you from day 1, and
👏YOU
👏HAVE👏NOT
👏AGED👏ONE
👏DAY!
What Is On Your Eyes ? Gorgeous! Not through the video yet because I keep getting distracted figuring out what you did!!!
What red lip are u wearing? Looks great
Looks like Fenty to me hbs
Wow! Great info. Thank you!
Omg..Marlela..i am agreeing all your recommendations one by one while watching your video.. we have really similar oppinion.. ❤ you n Take care.. from Malaysia here btw
Wow 3 clean products. Thank you
Marlena what about the Armani luminous concealer or westman concealer? ❤❤❤❤
you are the best makeuo guru!
Hi beautiful! Please share your lippie
Marlena, the best loose powder hands down is the By Terry Hyaluronic hydra powder. Makeup DOESNT BUDGE!
Your vids are so fun!
Really useful video, thanks!
Love mi Anisa brushes is fantastic
Gorgeous lipstick! What is it?
I’m with you on the rare beauty blushes they are tooooo pigmented which maybe to some isn’t a problem but it is to me 😅
