      Yes, we are Tamil Muslims and we speak nothing other than Tamil at home. We love it. Urdu is not the Muslim language. Its a popular misconception in India. Just because it is written using a form of Arabic script (Nastaliq) doesn't make it holy. Its an Indo-European language, not Semitic. In fact, Tamil can also be written using a form of Arabic script called Arwi (but not in use). God has not prescribed any particular language as Muslim or holy language. Even, Arabic is only used in mosques during worship to keep it common all over the world. Prayers and sermons can be said in native languages. After all, God created all languages and are all equal before the eyes of God.

It has its own divine energy for the culture, best food, temples, churches, Mosques, people, sense of humor, Land of Mountains, beaches, Agriculture fields. obsession is quite a stretch I guess. Tamil people are open to learn other languages but love to speak Tamil more. India is all about this richness in diversity and respecting them. the differences are to be respected and not looked down upon. If circumstances provide or if there is a necessity we learn other languages , just because we love to speak Tamil doesn't mean we disrespect other languages. I learnt telugu out of interest and follow most telugu channels I do this out of love still I feel at home when I speak Tamil. my case is just an instance. the same applies to any state.

      Bon Diens The problem is many Tamilians understand Hindi, still they don't reply in it. You have to understand circumstances of newcomers to the City. Anyone who has lived in Tamil Nadu for Years will eventually learn Tamil, but those who come for few days or are Tourists can't learn Tamil for a Month or Two.

    • @bondiens3434
      @bondiens3434 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ok. Let's assume the reverse. One guy does not know hindi goes to new delhi for 2 days tour, as by your case we cannot expect the tourist to learn Hindi for just a short term. so what is the solution ? we all know little bit english, we can simply use it.
      If you think, Hindi will die because of English, we should learn to talk hindi without english (No Hinglish) and same to Tamil or any language.
      Tamils are so afraid when it gets impositioned. Instead, just leaving it will make them feel free to learn and converse. if pressured too much, opposite will only happen. No one hates north or any part of the country or their languages. but when it used by politicians for vote , it is opposed.
      Lot of Tamil Archaeological surveys and projects are not funded and helped by Indian government, i dont know what will happen if Tamils are proven superior or lesser.

      Bon Diens I m not afraid of my language dying. I don't think anybody is enforcing Tamil on the People of TN. Infact, I think Central Government has been successful in maintaining the language diversity of India. Plz leave behind your fear and Complex. Everybody should try to be little flexible. In Bengal everybody can speak Hindi, but Still I learn Bangla, cos I live here. You have to understand that anyone who lives in Chennai for long time will definitely learn Tamil.

    • @bondiens3434
      @bondiens3434 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with you if you please justify why Central Govt. particularly wants to paint all the mile stones in NH runs across Tamil Nadu to Hindi rubbing of Tamil. It was in Tamil and English. If English has been rubbed off, and Kept Tamil there, we would have appreciated it. We never had complex against any one but we have pride for having one of the beautiful language as Mother Tongue. Even Gandhiji wanted to born as Tamil in his next birth to read and enjoy Thirukural in its written language. It has that much depth. So i dont disrespect other's mother tongues. We oppose only when we are targeted. For sure we are imposed. and you will only know if you live among us. Also, only to us you can ask to be flexible but you cannot ask the same in Karnataka and expect a respect.

    A tamilian can proudly say that, because chennai is the capital of his mother land, which is tamilnadu. These north indians come here buy all our lands and our jobs. Since we have all resources they are able to survive with their business. They couldn't have come to this level, if they were still iin Rajasthan or Mumbai or gujarat etc. I fear that that soon at one point of time, we tamilians will leave our lands and get out as north indians will start ruling and controlling us. All prime locations of tamilnadu is filled with These north indians. Please read this tamilian makkaley. Once upon a time just think how our madras was. I have no idea about obsession but every language lover ll love their language no matter what language it is.. You can't say a German is obsessed with his language but recently many ppl go there for higher education and language becomes a requirement default and not forced. Similarly languages when forced anywhere is not acceptable, we infact hate whatever forced on our plate.
    India being a democratic state with 22-23 official languages and rights to practice our own regional identity isn't a bad thing afterall. Now, least in TN sign boards have both Tamil/English.. in Karnataka everything is in Kannada hardly English or Hindi... You can't say they are obsessed.. it's just a regional priority given by their respective state to keep the language alive. If it's necessary we learn any language irrespective of whichever place we go (French/Bengali or even Malawi) TN is a tolerant state and doesn't question anyone what language they speak and they are not forced to talk Tamil either but I am sure each individual can understand least more than 2languages in any combination (depends)

    Lemme ask ya question "Why should tamilan should learn Hindi or any other language?" People who can speak only Hindi expect that everyone else in India should speak Hindi and this is based on the assumption that Hindi is the national language of India and it should stand true to its name by being spoken across the country. Allow me to correct such beliefs by quoting that as per the constitution of India, Hindi is not the national language. In fact, India doesn’t have a national language and it doesn’t need one. This fact acknowledged by Gujarat High court as well. So it would be prudent to lower the expectations which were supported by a myth rather than a fact.
    Nobody in this country stops anyone from learning Hindi. It’s just people don’t choose to. The arguments are not only for Tamil. It stands true for other regional languages such as Telugu (another language that I’m very fond of), Kannada, and Bengali which are much older than Hindi and boasts of richer literature.
    I do agree that not knowing Hindi does add to the communication problem when people from different region interact. But I would prefer the solution in the form of English rather than Hindi. My rational is that English is already the language of the world and it has reached almost every part of the world. So why can’t English be the unified language in India? Why Hindi when it’s penetration in India is less successful than English? Think and think hard!

    When I go live somewhere where people speak a different language other than tamil, I will learn their language so that I can speak with people who dont know english or with people who are not comfortable with speaking in english. The same thing applies to the people who come to tamilnadu.. I think tamil people are not expecting everyone to speak in tamil when they travel to states where they dont speak tamil

    Adei enga ooru enga mozhi ...I don't want to learn Hindi to help other state people ...if you want to be comfortable here learn Tamil. We don't go to Delhi and look why people are not speaking Tamil.
