Oh, the things we leave behind when we shuffle off this mortal coil... Last year's neighborhood estate sales netted an unused, in the box kerosene heater, a floor jack, a wheelbarrow, and a Bearcat 210 scanner. Sometimes you find old CB radios too.
I love how how you often share the bits of your adventures sir! I too scavenge materials. On the note of bed frames. That was how I set my first base antenna up. 102in whip, radial kit and a spring. All mounted to a piece of a bed frame with a mirror mount. I then ratchet strapped it to my chimney. It worked pretty good. You definitely got your money's worth on that haul!
I have the exact toolbox as you do. I got mine about 12 years ago from an auction and it also came full of tools a lot like yours did. Great box, in fact I often thought about getting it sandblasted and repainting it because it's made so well.
Great deal on all the tools John, you are going to need a bigger garage. LOL, I think everyone seems to be busy at this time of year, and with winter on the way soon folks trying to catch up. Glad to see you making progress. The radio is the radio and family is family and Family top of the list. I have been catching some skip from the UK and pressed for time. I hope next few weeks to finish outside and get some radio time. Cheers friend and glad to know you are doing well. 73 NY202/Drew
Interesting. Looks like a finger ratchet with a hole for and extension. You'd think it'd change directions? That was quite the haul. I thought at first that box was going to be kinda empty. I was wrong. I like that brake tool. I lost mine. The flat pliers with the grip we always called those duck bill pliers. The locking pliers you asked about are hose clamp pliers. They lock the hose clamp down with that ratcheting mechanism. the lever is to release it. I always break the tips on snap ring pliers. Wish they made some that didn't. Great buy!
Thanks Jason, Now that I know what those pliers are for, I'll be using them a lot! lawn mower fuel lines use those wire hose clamps. Don't forget Rock Hill on the 12th.
The 3/8 drive and 1/2 drive adapter are used on a breaker bar turning the breaker bar into a ratchet, Manufacturing tool companies stopped making them in the late to early 70's when ratchets were advancing in length and gearing. The small one should be a 3/8 drive adapter and not a 1/4-inch drive. Never knew they made a 1/4 drive adapter if indeed it is a 1/4 drive. The adapters should be reversable right or left on the top end of the adapter, it should be knurled were you reverse directions. Great tool back in the day.
3:07 I was going thru a bunch of sockets tonight & had a bunch of 25/32" Bonney sockets. I hadn't heard of them before. 14:34 they're Duck Bill pliers 26:06 Saw set for setting the teeth of a handsaw.
The thing with the plexiglass looks like it's meant to bend wire in shapes that you may need. They could also be some sort of machining measuring gauges.
The third tool in that small case at the end of the video is called a saw set. It's used to bend the teeth on hand saws in order to cut and remove the dust, better.
That rectangular cast iron piece in the second to last drawer at about 19:40 looks like a jointer attachment for a hand plane. The ones I am familiar with also allow it to be set at angles though. There is another similar tool which is used to file the teeth level on old two man crosscut saws. Possibly that. Should spend some time on the net looking these tools up. Some of the odd tools are probably quite collectible, possibly worth as much as you paid for the whole box.
🧰You've got some great tools in that collection.⚒️ Would like to see them cleaned up and organized.🪛 Some of the specialized tools are very desirable, as they are not made anymore and can be hard to find.🛠 They just don't make them like they used to.🧑🔧The strange looking pliers are hog ring pliers.🔧
Hello mower junkie haven't talked to you in a while on the radio or on your videos. Just happened to see this one and decided to comment. 73rds from wr1370 central Alabama deep in the ❤ of dixie.( Terry Morgan)if

Love that toolbox name, yeah, I thought it was Snap On at first 😃
The weird "hingy" thing is a wine bottle opener. Perfect for any toolbox.
Seems like a good deal. a lot of tools.

Your right it’s a tool for spring, it’s for the hose clamp.

My dad never threw his tools away either. Honestly, 97% of the items in your toolbox could have been found in my father's toolbox.

I agree with @eric cobia Proto are great and pricey..... I have a 3 jaw puller that ran 80 bucks ...
Proto is good stuff . I love proto tools
Ha..., I was just looking at a Proto set on Craig's just before jumping on TH-cam. Signed....Another Proto fan
that was wine opener corkscrew the silver piece is put on lip of wine bottle next to cork and use it as leverage point to pull the cork out easily :)
Nice! Thanks for the info.
@@MowerJunkie you are welcome
that custom ground extension may have been to drive something out. Ive had to make custom tools before
Very nice score !!
The drill press alone would have cost more than 150.00.
Great find!😀

The plexiglass tool is used to punch holes in gasket material.
Cool stuff! Maybe the Plexi-glass thing with pins is for bending tubing?
I saw a Gasket maker (Hole Punch) looked just like that Plexiglass thing.

25:48 I've heard about this for years but yet to find one of those Metric & SAE adjustable wrenches. Until now I thought it was just folklore.
I know, can you believe it's also an imperial standard too! lol, Thanks for watching.
What will they think of next?
